Abstract

This study examines the dialectical relationship between text and reality in the hermeneutics of Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, particularly his understanding of the Qur’an as both a linguistic phenomenon and a cultural product. Abu Zayd argues that the Qur’an did not emerge in a historical vacuum, but was revealed within specific socio-historical, linguistic, and cultural contexts. From this perspective, he critiques rigid and ahistorical interpretations that separate the Qur’an from the realities of human life. This study employs a library research approach combined with thematic and hermeneutical analysis to explore the transformation of the Qur’an from a static text (mushaf) into a living discourse that continuously interacts with changing historical and social realities. The novelty of this study lies in its analysis of Abu Zayd’s hermeneutics not merely as a method of interpretation, but as an epistemological transformation that shifts the Qur’an from a fixed text toward a dialogical and contextual discourse. In addition, this study shows that Abu Zayd’s ideas generated intellectual debates concerning religious authority, interpretation, and the relationship between revelation and contemporary human experience. Ultimately, this study argues that Abu Zayd’s hermeneutics represents a critique of interpretive traditions that freeze the meaning of the Qur’an within rigid textual authority.

Abstract

Social media has become one of the sources of religious knowledge for teenagers. The rapid dissemination of information and the wide variety of Islamic content make social media an engaging and practical learning medium. However, not all information circulating on social media can be verified, which may lead to misunderstandings in religious practices. This study aims to determine the extent of the role of social media, particularly TikTok, in shaping teenagers’ religious understanding. The method used in this study was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews and observations involving high school students, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, and school authorities as the research subjects. The results show that social media provides easy and quick access to religious information and helps teenagers learn Islamic teachings more effectively. On the other hand, there is a risk of misuse of religious content due to misinterpretation, unverified content, and a lack of guidance from knowledgeable parties. In conclusion, TikTok plays an important role in shaping teenagers’ religious understanding. However, digital literacy and proper guidance are needed to ensure that the information obtained is aligned with Islamic values and does not lead to deviant interpretations.

Abstract

The halal pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries are sectors that continue to grow in line with increasing public awareness of the importance of using products that comply with Islamic principles. Indonesia, as a country with a predominantly Muslim population, has significant potential for the development of the halal industry, particularly in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors. This study aims to examine the implementation of halal concepts in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries in Indonesia through a review of raw materials, production processes, halal certification, and the development of halal cosmetic trends. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method using a literature review approach based on scientific journals, books, regulations, and related documents. The findings indicate that the implementation of halal principles is determined not only by the halal status of raw materials but also by production processes, storage, distribution, and the halal assurance system implemented by companies. Halal certification administered by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) and supported by LPPOM MUI plays an important role in ensuring product halalness, enhancing consumer trust, and strengthening industrial competitiveness. In addition, the halal cosmetic market in Indonesia has shown significant growth due to increasing consumer demand for products that are safe, high-quality, and compliant with Islamic values. Therefore, synergy among the government, certification bodies, and industry stakeholders is needed to support the sustainable development of the halal pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

Abstract

This article examines Saudi Arabia's education system by focusing on the relationship between Islamic identity, institutional structure, and contemporary education reform under Vision 2030. The study is important because previous works often describe Saudi education in a general manner, while less attention is given to the tension between Islamic values, curriculum modernization, access equity, and global competitiveness. This study applies a library research method with narrative synthesis of official documents, international reports, and scholarly publications from 2015 to 2026. The findings show that Saudi education has moved from traditional mosque and kuttab-based learning to a centralized, free, and structured national system. Vision 2030 has strengthened learning quality, digital transformation, vocational education, research capacity, and alignment between education and labor-market needs. Nevertheless, the system still faces challenges in balancing religious authority, twenty-first century competencies, regional equity, and graduate quality. The article argues that the Saudi experience contributes to comparative Islamic education studies, especially in explaining how a Muslim state reforms education while maintaining religious foundations.

Abstract

This study aims to deeply analyze the spiritual dimension of the sacred months based on the tafsir of surah At-Taubah verse 36, particularly on the momentum of welcoming the Muharram 1448 H New Year. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature study (library research) approach, based on the Tafsir Maudhui (thematic) analysis method to synthesize data comprehensively. The results of this study show that the prohibition of wronging oneself (do not wrong yourselves) in the sacred months indicates the importance of self-control from negative behaviors, maintaining mental health against social anxiety or insecurity, and avoiding an excessively consumptive lifestyle. This spiritual dimension can be actualized through the application of the concept of taqwa, a simple lifestyle (frugal living), and prioritizing spiritual wealth (inner wealth) over material goods. The momentum of Muharram 1448 H should serve as a means of collective self-reflection and strengthening da'wah values in Indonesia to cultivate true piety. This research contributes theoretically to the Qur'anic studies treasury by offering practical and spiritual solutions that are highly relevant to address the socio-psychological challenges of modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of the certification program organized by the Daarul Qur’an Professional Certification Institute (LSP Daarul Qur’an) on improving the quality of Qur’anic memorization (tahfizh) teaching at Daarul Qur’an Islamic boarding schools. Teacher competence is a crucial factor in ensuring the quality of Qur’anic education. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 117 respondents consisting of teachers and students, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS. The findings indicate a highly positive perception of the certification program: 90.6% of respondents agreed that certification improves teachers’ Qur’anic recitation skills, 89.7% agreed it enhances pedagogical mastery, and 88.9% confirmed it encourages continuous competency improvement. Furthermore, certification strengthens institutional trust (88.0%) and enhances teaching effectiveness (84.6%) as well as improves teacher discipline (76,9%). Nevertheless, 86.4% of respondents expressed the need for post-certification training. The study concludes that LSP Daarul Qur’an certification effectively standardizes and improves the quality of tahfizh teaching, though its impact can be optimized through continuous professional development programs.

Abstract

This study examines the hadith-based understanding that forms the foundation for the practice of worship without loudspeakers at Jami’ Al-Huda Mosque in Kayu Agung Village, Sepatan District, Tangerang Regency. In the context of modern society where sound amplification technology is commonly integrated into religious practices, the policy of Al-Huda Mosque which has not used loudspeakers since its establishment around 1951 constitutes a distinctive phenomenon worthy of in-depth scholarly investigation. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method and the Living Hadith framework. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with mosque administrators, religious figures, and congregants, as well as documentary analysis of primary hadith sources. The findings indicate that the interpretation of hadiths concerning tranquility in worship particularly the hadith prohibiting disturbance to fellow worshippers from Imam Malik (al-Muwaṯṯa’ no. 177) and Abū Dāwūd (Sunan no. 1332) is significantly shaped by local traditions, the religious perspectives of community leaders, and a collective desire to maintain solemnity without disturbing the surrounding environment. Although the hadiths do not explicitly prohibit the use of loudspeakers, congregants interpret them as guidance to uphold tranquility and avoid mutual disturbance during worship. The speakerless worship practice at Al-Huda Mosque represents a contextual interpretation of hadiths reflecting local values of serenity, etiquette, and social harmony.

Abstract

Learning Rasm Usmani in Islamic Higher Education (PTKI) holds a strategic position as it directly relates to the accuracy of writing, reading, and copying Qur'anic texts. However, students frequently encounter conceptual, linguistic, technical, methodological, and reference-related learning barriers. This article aims to analyze the forms of these learning obstacles and formulate an integrated strategy applicable to lecturers and department management. This study employs a library research method by reviewing reputable journal articles, textbooks, official guidelines from the Ministry of Religious Affairs/LPMQ, curriculum documents (Syllabus/RPS), and academic papers published between 2016 and 2026. Data were analyzed through reduction, thematic classification, synthesis, and conceptual interpretation. The findings present a novelty in the form of an Integrated Learning Model of Rasm Usmani, which incorporates initial Qur'anic literacy diagnostics (BTQ), the use of visual comparative mushaf learning materials, curated digital media integration, and a practical 16-session curricular framework.
