Abstract

This study evaluates career counseling management in three senior high schools in Palangka Raya City, Indonesia, using the CIPP model. Through a mixed methods approach, the study involved 186 grade XII students as well as in-depth interviews with counseling guidance teachers and school principals. The results showed that all CIPP dimensions were positively but weakly correlated with students' career maturity, with the Product dimension having the strongest relationship (r = 0.254). Multiple regression analysis showed a significant but limited influence of the CIPP dimensions on career maturity (R² = 0.109), with Product being the dominant predictor. Thematic analysis identified challenges with structural support, limited resources, and variable student engagement, indicating a gap between policy and practice. Overall, career counseling management is structured but not yet optimal in enhancing students' career maturity, requiring policy strengthening, resource development, and more personalized counseling strategies.

Abstract

Academic stress refers to the pressure and tension experienced by students in relation to academic performance and the educational environment, which can have an impact on students' psychology, physiology, and academic achievement. Appropriate techniques are needed to manage stress in order to help prevent situations that can have a negative impact on students. This study was conducted to (1) determine the difference in academic stress levels before and after the implementation of classical guidance and (2) determine the effectiveness of classical guidance in preventing academic stress among students at MTsN 1 Kota Palangka Raya. The population in this study was all 275 eighth-grade students at MTsN 1 Palangka Raya City, with a sample consisting of 31 students from class VIII-1, selected using purposive sampling. The results of the study show that: (1) before being given classical guidance services, most of the students in class VIII-1, namely 22 students, experienced moderate academic stress, 6 students experienced high academic stress, and 3 students experienced low academic stress. Meanwhile, after receiving classical guidance services, most students, namely 20 students, still experienced moderate academic stress, 6 students experienced high academic stress, and 5 students experienced low academic stress. The total pre-test score was 3893 and the post-test score was 3871. This means that there was not much change after the researcher provided classical guidance services; (2) the results of the hypothesis test using SPSS 25 software on the Paired Sample T Test method showed that the significance value obtained was 0.066. This indicates that the Sig value > 0.05, which indicates that classical guidance services are effective in preventing academic stress among students at MTsN 1 Kota Palangka Raya.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of peer guidance services in enhancing self-confidence among adolescents. The service was delivered to 9th-grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Palangka Raya as part of a psychosocial intervention. This research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 12 students selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was a validated and reliable self-confidence scale. The findings revealed an increase in mean scores from pre-test to post-test. The Wilcoxon test using SPSS 25 resulted in a significance value of 0.002 (<0.05), indicating that peer guidance is effective in increasing students' self-confidence. Thus, peer counseling can serve as a strategic alternative to support adolescents' psychological development in schools.

Abstract

Character building and discipline are the primary foundations of police education, as the behavioral quality of student non-commissioned officers (NCOs) is an indicator of their readiness as law enforcement officers with integrity and professionalism. This study aims to analyze the behavior of student non-commissioned officers (NCOs) during the character and discipline building process at the Central Kalimantan Regional Police's National Police Service (SPN), and to identify influencing factors. The research approach employed was a descriptive qualitative method, with NCOs as the subjects. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations of student behavior during learning activities, physical training, and character development within the SPN environment. The results indicate that student behavior in the context of character and discipline building is influenced by two main factors: internal factors (personal motivation, moral values, and awareness of responsibility) and external factors (instructor role models, the development system, and police organizational culture). Effective character building is characterized by the integration of role models, time discipline, collective responsibility, and the internalization of the Tribrata and Catur Prasetya values. Therefore, police education at the Central Kalimantan Regional Police's National Police Service (SPN) plays a strategic role in developing prospective police officers with character, high discipline, and readiness to carry out their duties professionally.

Abstract

Background: The rapid development of digital technology has increased distractions that negatively affect students’ concentration during learning. While previous studies have widely examined the impact of digital distraction on students’ academic performance, limited research has specifically explored school counselors’ professional experiences in addressing students’ concentration problems in digitally saturated learning environments. Aim; This study aims to explore school counselors' experiences in addressing students’ concentration problems in the era of digital distraction. The study employed a qualitative narrative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation involving three school counselors at junior and senior high school levels in Kerinci Regency. Method: Data were analyzed using Riessman’s narrative analysis model. The findings reveal three interrelated themes. First, digital distractions such as smartphone notifications, online games, and social media are perceived as the primary sources of students’ concentration problems. Second, counselors emphasize strengthening students’ self-regulation through time management, control of digital device use, and mindfulness as central counseling strategies. Third, the sustainability of behavioral change in learning concentration depends on collaboration among counselors, teachers, and parents. This study contributes theoretically by enriching narrative counseling perspectives in understanding digital distraction as a systemic issue in school contexts. Practically, it provides experience-based strategic implications for school counseling interventions to improve students’ learning concentration in the digital era.

Abstract

Background: The dynamic development of the industrial world requires higher education students to possess adaptive, sustainable career-readiness. Aim: This study aims to describe students' career readiness from the perspective of Industrial Guidance and Counseling and to examine its distribution across respondents' characteristics. Method: The study employed a quantitative, descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of 204 students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Data were collected using a structured instrument and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that the majority of students fall into the moderate and high categories of career readiness, with a very small proportion in the low category. Distribution by gender shows a relatively balanced pattern, suggesting that differences in career readiness are not significantly influenced by gender. These findings suggest that students already possess basic readiness to enter the workforce; however, further strengthening is still needed in aspects of adaptability and career planning. Conclusion: The study concludes by emphasizing the important role of Industrial Guidance and Counseling in optimizing students' career readiness. Recommendations are directed toward developing structured career counseling services and to further research employing more comprehensive variables and research designs.

Abstract

Background: The dynamics of industrial development require adolescents to develop strong career-readiness from an early age, including self-confidence and a clear career orientation, as essential capital to face job-market competition. Aim: This study aims to describe levels of self-confidence and career development among adolescents and to examine differences in their distribution by family economic status. Method: The research employed a quantitative, descriptive-observational design, using a cross-sectional survey of adolescents from diverse economic backgrounds. The research instruments consisted of Likert-scale questionnaires to measure levels of self-confidence and career development, as well as demographic data related to family economic status. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that the majority of respondents exhibit moderate to high levels of self-confidence and career development, both overall and across economic status. The discussion emphasizes that psychosocial factors play a more dominant role than economic aspects in supporting career readiness. Conclusion: The study concludes that industrial Career Guidance services should be equitably oriented toward strengthening adolescents' self-confidence and career exploration skills. Further research is recommended to examine relationships among variables using inferential designs and to develop more comprehensive career guidance interventions across various educational settings.

Abstract

Background: Readiness to enter the workforce in a dynamic industrial era is strongly influenced by individuals' psychological conditions, particularly self-confidence as an aspect of self-efficacy. Aim: This study aims to describe the level of self-confidence, the respondents' social relationship status, and to identify the association between these variables in the context of developing work readiness through industrial guidance and counseling. Method: This study employs a quantitative, descriptive design. Results and Discussion: The research subjects comprised 204 respondents, and data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire on a categorical scale. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and cross-tabulation to identify patterns of relationships between variables. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have moderate to high self-confidence, with almost none falling into the low category. The respondents' marital status is predominantly unmarried; however, it does not appear to have a significant influence on self-confidence levels. Conclusion: These findings emphasize that strengthening self-confidence can be a primary focus of industrial counseling interventions to support readiness in facing the work environment. This study recommends expanding the range of variables in future research, including motivation, interpersonal skills, and social support, to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of young people's work readiness.
