Abstract

Teaching and learning activities must use motivation as a driving force for student absorption because students can obtain information from the programmed curriculum to increase the quality of learning. This research aims to analyze and describe students' responses to the Hannafin and Peck learning media worksheet in Islamic religious education (PAI) subjects in class 5 of Islamic elementary school. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive analysis. The participants were 20 students. The data collection technique was in the form of a statement questionnaire. The results showed that the average student response to the Hannafin and Peck learning model was 85% with a good category, the response to the PAI lesson was 75% with enough category, and the response to the learning process was 80% with a good category. Hence, the total average of students' responses was 80% with a good category. Thus, the Hannafin and Peck learning model in PAI subjects could be implemented at school. Also, it is hoped that there will be more in-depth research regarding the Hannafin and Pack learning model.

Abstract

Mental health has been defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Psychological Association (APA) as a state of emotional well-being and the ability to cope effectively with life's challenges. Although cognitive therapy is widely associated with contemporary psychology, its intellectual foundations can be traced to earlier scholarly traditions. This study examines the contribution of Abu Zayd al-Balkhi to the historical development of cognitive therapy by analyzing his conceptualization of mental health and therapeutic practices. Using a historical and comparative analytical approach, the study investigates al-Balkhi's perspectives on psychological disorders, including depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, with particular attention to his distinction between endogenous and reactive depression. The analysis compares al-Balkhi's therapeutic principles with those of contemporary Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The findings reveal substantial conceptual parallels, particularly in the emphasis on cognitive restructuring, emotional regulation, and the integration of spiritual dimensions into psychological treatment. The study also demonstrates that al-Balkhi proposed a holistic model that addressed the interrelationship between the mind, body, and soul, anticipating several principles recognized in modern mental health care. These findings highlight al-Balkhi's significant role in the historical development of cognitive therapy and underscore the continuing relevance of his integrative framework for contemporary mental health research and practice.

Abstract

The grief of loss has been addressed in many studies. Most of these studies describe the grief of losing a husband or wife. Studies on the bereavement of a fiancé are few. This study aims to explore the role of spiritual resilience in the grieving process experienced by a young woman who was left by her fiancé. One of the issues they addressed was how people process their grief and assign meaning to the loss experience. This qualitative case study involved in-depth interviews to extract information about informants’ experiences and coping strategies. The results show that belief in destiny, social support from family and friends, and engagement in meaningful spiritual practices contribute significantly to developing spiritual resilience. The interpretation of the results of this analysis suggests that spiritual resilience not only helps individuals deal with grief but also promotes personal growth and emotional recovery. This research contributes to the field of Islamic psychology on the mechanisms of spiritual resilience in the recovery process from bereavement. Hence, this study provides insight for individuals and mental health practitioners who are facing similar issues.

Abstract

The perceived tension between religious revelation and modern scientific inquiry has often led to scepticism about the epistemic role of the Qur’an in contemporary knowledge development. This study aims to analyse the harmony between the Qur’an and modern science through the philosophical framework of Al-Kindi. Employing a mixed-methods approach that integrates qualitative and quantitative techniques, the study examines Qur’anic perspectives alongside scientific interpretations to assess their coherence. The findings indicate a consistent, complementary relationship between Qur’anic principles and scientific understanding, suggesting that both serve as mutually reinforcing sources of knowledge. The study demonstrates that the Qur’an and modern science share a harmonious epistemological orientation grounded in rational inquiry and the pursuit of truth. This research contributes to ongoing discussions in Islamic philosophy and science–religion studies by reaffirming the relevance of Qur’anic epistemology in contemporary scientific discourse.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a requirement in modern life, especially in the Islamic environment. Islam has ordered humans to think critically to reach the truth. Besides, studies on critical thinking are still being developed in various aspects. In its implementation, mastering critical thinking may face many challenges. This study aims to analyze the problems in building critical thinking and obtain the proper method to teach this skill to students. The data is collected through a literature review related to the study topic. From the review, this study highlights how rational methods can be used fundamentally for all thinking activities, and this method is acquired through the Talqiyyan Fikriyyan concept. In addition, the concept of critical thinking in Islam is a command from Allah Ta’ala (the most glorified, the highest). Also, implementing rational methods in learning builds students’ critical thinking skills. Thus, this study suggests that the Talqiyyan Fikriyyan method can be essential for all subjects in increasing students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Instructional media play a vital role in the teaching and learning process by facilitating the delivery of learning materials and reducing ambiguity in students' understanding. Among various instructional media, audio-visual media have been widely recognized for enhancing student engagement and learning effectiveness. This study aims to examine the implementation of audio-visual media within the Hannafin and Peck instructional model in Islamic Religious Education learning. The study employs a qualitative library research design, complemented by interview and observation data to enrich the analysis. Data were collected from scholarly sources, including journal articles, theses, books, and other relevant publications addressing instructional media, learning theories, and the Hannafin and Peck instructional model. The findings indicate that integrating audio-visual media into the Hannafin and Peck instructional model enhances the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education by promoting active learning, improving students' comprehension of abstract concepts, and supporting systematic instructional design. These findings suggest that the combination of audio-visual media and the Hannafin and Peck model provides a practical instructional framework for improving teaching and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate abnormal returns surrounding the announcement of the Indonesian Ulema Council’s (MUI) Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 and to compare abnormal returns before and after the announcement. This study employed an event study approach. The population consists of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The research sample included nine companies affiliated with Israel and the United States, as well as nine non-affiliated companies from the same industry sectors to provide a balanced comparison. Abnormal returns were calculated using the single index model. The independent variable in this study was the return of the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), while the dependent variable was the stock return. The results indicated that there were no significant abnormal returns surrounding the announcement of MUI’s Fatwa Number 83 of 2023 for either affiliated or non-affiliated companies. Furthermore, the findings revealed no significant differences in abnormal returns before and after the announcement for either group of companies.

Abstract

The Employment Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) is progressively implementing Sharia principles across its operational activities, including the management of equity investments in Sharia-compliant financial instruments. This study aims to determine the optimal Sharia-compliant stock investment portfolio for the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) using a quantitative, descriptive approach and portfolio optimisation techniques. The analysis employs the Markowitz mean-variance model and the Single Index Model, based on monthly closing prices of Sharia-compliant stocks listed on the JII from 2019 to 2023. The results indicate that the Markowitz model generates an optimal portfolio consisting of ADRO (24.41%), ICBP (0.13%), BPRT (37.76%), and ANTM (37.70%), with an expected return of 0.63% and a portfolio risk of 0.35%. In comparison, the Single Index Model produces a more diversified portfolio comprising ADRO (19.62%), ANTM (23.50%), BPRT (19.65%), INCO (14.69%), ITMG (12.54%), EXCL (5.02%), TLKM (2.89%), and KLBF (2.09%), yielding an expected return of 0.48% and a risk level of 0.23%. Thus, the findings demonstrate that the portfolio constructed using the Markowitz model provides a more optimal risk-return trade-off and is therefore recommended as the preferred Sharia-compliant investment strategy for BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital access to information has transformed hadith studies, creating a critical challenge in the widespread dissemination of fabricated traditions and the limited availability of reliable digital verification systems. This study aims to examine the evolution of hadith verification from classical scholarship to contemporary digital approaches and to evaluate their effectiveness in preserving authenticity. A qualitative approach was employed through a literature review and historical comparative analysis to trace the development of hadith criticism, from traditional sanad and matan evaluation to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain. The findings indicate that although digital platforms enhance accessibility and accelerate dissemination, current verification tools remain insufficient for comprehensive and accurate authentication. Consequently, classical methodologies continue to serve an indispensable role in maintaining scholarly rigor. Besides, this study argues for an integrative framework combining traditional hadith criticism with advanced technological innovations to address current challenges. Hence, it concludes that such synergy provides a more reliable pathway for safeguarding hadith authenticity and offers a conceptual foundation for developing robust digital verification systems capable of mitigating contemporary disinformation.

Abstract

Sharia-compliant pension funds constitute an important component of Islamic finance and social security development in Indonesia, yet their implementation remains institutionally and regulatorily complex. This study examines the application of Sharia economic law in the management of Employer-Sponsored Pension Funds (DPPK) and Financial Institution Pension Funds (DPLK) within Islamic financial institutions, drawing on case analyses of DPLK Syariah Muamalat and the ongoing Sharia transformation of PT TASPEN. Using a qualitative descriptive design, the study applies normative-juridical analysis, regulatory review, and secondary-data-based case examination. The findings indicate that, despite the presence of a comprehensive regulatory framework including Law No. 11 of 1992, POJK No. 33/POJK.05/2016, and DSN-MUI fatwas, Sharia pension fund implementation faces persistent structural constraints, particularly regulatory fragmentation, limited public literacy, and restricted availability of Sharia-compliant investment instruments. The case analysis shows that DPLK Syariah Muamalat has complied mainly with Sharia principles, although further development is required in digital governance and portfolio diversification. Similarly, PT TASPEN’s transition toward a Sharia-based pension system demonstrates institutional potential but remains contingent on strengthened organizational capacity and adequate Sharia supervision. The study highlights the need for regulatory harmonization, the reinforcement of Sharia Supervisory Boards, and the strategic integration of pension funds with Islamic social finance instruments to enhance institutional sustainability. Hence, this research contributes to the discourse on Islamic finance governance by clarifying how regulatory design and institutional practice shape the viability of Sharia-compliant pension systems in emerging Islamic financial markets.
