Abstract

This research was intended to portray how Impression Learning (IL) programs were incorporated into a mathematics class in an Indonesian Islamic elementary school and how the students’ mathematics skills were fostered during the learning process. This study was a classroom practice-based model of how the IL programs were conveyed in the detailed teaching of equality of money value in grade 2 of elementary school. This study used a case study to see how a phenomenon happened: teaching steps, teacher-student dialogues, and involvement of students in the learning process. Also, the use of concrete material was planned to enable students' senses and became a novelty of this study. In addition, the teaching process consisted of (a) a learning plan (setting the learning objectives, learning materials and resources, learning media, learning approaches and strategies, schedules, and learning environments), (b) combining the concepts of teaching procedures: Talqiyyan Fikriyyan, TANDUR (Grow, Experience, Name, Demonstrate, Repeat, and Celebration), installing an internalization of Islamic values, and reflection. Besides, this research could optimize students thinking and attitude patterns. Hence, this study provides an alternative model of impression teaching in education, especially mathematics.

Abstract

High inflation rates are a complex economic challenge and have far-reaching impacts. To deal with these problems, an effective strategy involving a series of policy instruments and a deep understanding of the root problems that cause inflation is needed. This research aims to analyze strategies to overcome inflation and offer fundamental strategies. This research uses a qualitative with a descriptive-analytical method. The research data is obtained through a literature review: the relevant information from previous research results or official publications. The research results show that it is more supply-side based on analyzing the government's strategy for overcoming inflation. Based on examining the existing situation, this strategy must be complemented by a demand side: providing energy subsidies, increasing national production capacity, and moral education. Based on an in-depth study of inflation, this research provides recommendations for a more fundamental strategy in integrating financial technology (fintech) with precious metals (gold-fintech). This condition means gold-based fintech. It means realizing practical transactions using fintech, which is flexible, practical, and cashless, but the standard is using gold, not fiat money. Also, Islam views gold and silver as suitable for currency use. Apart from internal factors and conformity between nominal and intrinsic value, the uses of gold and silver are based on the sharia. Gold and silver are strong enough to withstand inflation, something that paper money-based currencies do not have. Hence, researchers suggest further research regarding the technical transition mechanism from fiat money-based to precious gold and metal-based fintech.

Abstract

In 2018, the words Radical and Radicalism (RaR) became very popular and a matter of public discussion. Reporting on this issue was directed at radical movements and acts of terrorism that had entered the academic environment on campus. This research analyzed the meaning of collocation of RaR in online media reporting. This study used a combined approach: quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative was used to gather data from the linguistic corpus (digital linguistics) taken from online news media such as Detik.com, Okezone.com, Kompas.com, Viva.co.id, Media Indonesia, Kompas, Bisnis Indonesia, Pikiran Rakyat, Republika Online, BBC.com, and CNN Indonesia.com. Qualitative was used to identify the number of frequencies of the word Radical and the occurrence of the collocation of RaR, as well as clusters/n-grams contained in the AntConc application tools. The results show that the words RaR were powerful for Islamic groups, with the high frequency of appearance of the word radicalism in rank 7 with a frequency of 624, Islam in rank 16 with a frequency of 355, religion in rank 24 with a frequency of 249, and campus in rank 32 with a frequency of 200. Hence, this data reveals that online media tended to be subjective in reporting, where radical groups always connoted certain religious groups and symbols. Moreover, the radical movement was suspected to have spread this term among students on several campuses in Indonesia, especially Islamic groups. Thus, this research provides an overview of the RaR collocation on online news.

Abstract

Islamic education is one of the main factors in building a nation's civilization. However, secularism has separated religious affairs from government and social affairs. It means that the teaching of Islamic education is felt only in the aspect of worshiping Allah SWT (The most glorified, the highest), known as scientific dichotomies. Besides, since the Dutch government came to Indonesia, Mohammad Natsir had paid attention to indigenous communities so that Dutch ideas regarding scientific dichotomy did not influence them by implementing integrative education. This research intended to describe the concept of Islamic education according to Mohammad Natsir and compare it with general education. This research used a qualitative approach with a literature review method. The results of the research show: (a) the concept of religious education based on monotheism as well as physical and spiritual, which cannot be separated from the sources of the Qur'an, Hadith, Creed and Morals, Fiqh Science, and the History of Islamic Culture, and (b) the integration of Islamic education with general in order to make individuals highly intellectual and religious. Therefore, this research provides an alternative source of information for developing Islamic religious education.

Abstract

In the current era, the teacher's role in developing a learning curriculum that suits needs is urgent. Teachers are required to empower various digital platforms such as learning applications, websites, and other online resources to make learning more exciting and facilitate students' accessibility. This research aimed to investigate teachers' strategies for increasing the Islamic religious education (PAI in Indonesian) curriculum. This study used literature reviews from various sources related to this topic. The results show that the teacher's strategies in curriculum development may vary according to the centralized, decentralized, or central-decentralized management approach. Teachers were also essential as implementers, adapters, developers, and researchers. Besides, teachers were not only asked to transfer knowledge but also responsible for conducting other crucial values through reciprocal interaction, which was the primary key in the learning process. It means that teachers guided students to get what pupils needed. Thus, this article provides an alternative model for teachers in developing and implementing the PAI curriculum to achieve educational goals.

Abstract

Many of the Indonesian young generations have fallen into Western culture through fashions, foods, films, free-thinking, free sex, and friction. Consequently, it becomes an urgent problem that requires us to guide them in the right direction. One of the solution places to solve this problem is an Islamic boarding school. Islamic boarding schools have an essential role in directing the potential of the young generation so they do not fall into the trap. This study aims to explore the efforts made by Al-Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School to develop students’ resources, including students’ thinking, work abilities, and directing their potential. This research used a qualitative approach with the Constructivity Paradigm by Lev Vygotsky. The results showed that students with Islamic personalities have performance and entrepreneurial skills, can determine their direction in making decisions, and develop their leadership. Besides, Al-Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School succeeded in expanding its target area by placing 270 assisted farmers managed by Islamic boarding school alumni on 130 hectares; it also collaborated with Japan and the Netherlands. In addition, Pesantren could expand the product to various nearby supermarkets. Moreover, Al-Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School utilized social media to promote the school and developed the Alifmart application, which can be downloaded from Playstore to expand and simplify muamalah. Thus, through this study, it can be a model for developing other Islamic Boarding Schools, especially in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the history and nuances of political Islam in Malaysia and Indonesia. This research employs a qualitative methodology, specifically library research through content analysis, for its flexibility in systematically analyzing books and journal articles by identifying, coding, and categorizing patterns in the data, thereby providing a comprehensive understanding of their similarities and differences. Malaysia, a Southeast Asian federal monarchy, gained independence in 1957 after a history of colonial occupation. Its multiethnic population includes indigenous tribes and international traders, with Islam as the official religion, though non-Muslims practice freely. Traditional values and the Sultan's role as protector of religion are central to Malay society. Political decisions often weigh ethnic and religious factors. Islam's political role in Malaysia has varied, with prime ministers interpreting its influence differently. Debates range from advocating a full Islamic system to separating religion from politics. Policies have driven Islamization in education, art, music, and clothing, affecting party dynamics between Pan-Malaysian Islamic (PAS) and the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). UMNO has maintained Malay Muslim support by integrating Islamic sentiments. In Indonesia, a Muslim-majority nation, implementing Islam in politics is complicated by its diverse population. The Pancasila ideology, aligned with Islamic norms, emphasizes monotheism, justice, unity, consultation, and social justice. Despite deep historical roots, integrating Islamic principles in governance requires tolerance of minority views. Political Islam in Indonesia is diverse, with Islamic parties and new Islamist groups influencing governance. Traditional organizations like Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah face competition from groups using media to reshape religious authority.

Abstract

Cultural differences between countries often lead to culture shock, particularly among students pursuing higher education abroad. It is also encountered by Patani students studying at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, which affects their academic experience. Thus, this study explores the culture shock experienced by Patani students, focusing on their academic adaptation process on campus. A qualitative approach was employed by interviewing Patani students from several departments to gain insights into their adaptation challenges and needs. The findings reveal that Patani students face several obstacles, including language barriers, limited social support, and challenges adjusting to differences between Sundanese and Patani cultures. Many students expressed the need for language classes and specialized support services for international students to ease their academic and social transition. Besides, these findings highlight the importance of universities providing adequate support systems for international students. Institutions should consider implementing language programs and dedicated services to help non-local students integrate more effectively into academic and social settings. Addressing the adaptation challenges of international students, particularly those in non-international class settings, can enhance their academic success and overall campus experience. This study underscores the need for universities to be more attentive to the specific needs of international students to foster a more inclusive academic environment.

Abstract

Fiqh and science are two entities that must be brought together to determine the time of dawn (fajr). Fajr has three signs: fajr prayer time, forbidden food for fasting people, and the final limit of wukuf time in Arafat for pilgrims. Meanwhile, inaccuracy in the determination of dawn can result in the invalidity of some acts of worship. This study aims to observe the determination of Fajr time in Indonesia. This field research used a qualitative approach with primary data from observation of dawn in the field using a pocket photometer tool in the form of a Sky Quality Meter. The observation results were then processed using scientific approaches, such as ImageJ, Gnuplot, and Microsoft Excel, to get a graph/curve that can translate the sun's height in determining dawn time. The research findings showed that the rise of dawn is related to the criteria for the beginning of Fajr time. The sun's altitude is related to the position of how many degrees the beginning of fajr shadiq began to be seen; from the data that was successfully processed, the emergence of fajr shadiq right at the sun's altitude was -20 °. In fiqh terms, (1) the difference at the beginning of dawn has an impact on the problem of prayer; the invalidity of people who hasten to pray at dawn once they hear the call to dawn, such as because of illness, staying up all night, travelling, and praying at home for women. Because it has not yet entered the time of prayer (dukhul al-waqt); (2) menstrual and postpartum blood for women who stop during the limit period if based on the existing dawn schedule, the woman is not obliged to fast because it stops shortly after the start of the adhan, while if according to another schedule, the time of cessation of blood is still counted before imsak, so it should be pure and the obligation to fast; and (3) about the Sunnah of delaying the suhoor meal, and the dawn prayer becomes inappropriate.
