Abstract

The search for ways to develop capitalism and the ways of its socially acceptable configuration causes increasing attention of specialists. Recognizing the ways of overcoming economic stagnation in conditions of limited resources and the growing social awareness of increasingly better communicated networks of societies, encourages the formulation of ways to reform capitalism. Authors leave radical solutions beyond discussion, especially those known from history. The contemporary development of productive forces and socio-economic life creates new premises for changes in capitalist reality. The authors are especially interested in the pro-social character of this premise. To define the phenomenon of socialization of capital, the authors referred to the social market economy - a specific economic order, as well as to a social enterprise, i.e. an entity realizing social objectives as part of business operations. The social market economy and social enterprise have been indicated as an important element of the economy as well as the state's economic policy. To fulfill its goals and duties in the context of shaping the quality of life of the society, the state should include in the economic system market entities that fulfill socially useful goals as part of the market mechanism.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the impact of factors that influence the decisions of graduated students to choose workplaces in Hanoi, Vietnam. Data were collected through interviews with 245 graduated students from the Department of Accounting from the University of Labor and Social Affairs, Hanoi, Vietnam. With this data, we have used Cronbach's Alpha, EFA and a regression model to determine the level of impact of independent variables on the dependent variable, i.e. the decision to choose a workplace. The results showed that the determinants included the work environment factors in Hanoi (WEFs) and the personal factors of graduates (PFs) which both have positive relationships with the decision to choose a workplace in Hanoi. Based on this finding, this paper gives several recommendations for both graduated students as well as relevant government institutions in response to employee requests in Hanoi for students graduating in Accounting.

Abstract

This study aims to explore a region’s potential entrepreneurship which is an important asset for national economy. In addition, this research also measures the extent of the region’s potential entrepreneurship in the perspective of entrepreneurship capital. The survey was able to collect 901 valid questionnaires from youth respondents and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The research findings show that from the four forms of entrepreneurship capital, only financial capital and cultural capital could bring about the region’s potential entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial intention. Other findings explain the striking difference between the perspective of youth people who were entrepreneurs and those who were workers. The youth entrepreneurs were able to convert the capital into entrepreneurial opportunities. While the youth workers even though they also had similar capital since they did not have the entrepreneurial ability, they failed to take advantage of the capital they had. The contribution of this research is to strengthen the concept of entrepreneurship capital from the resources-based perspective.

Abstract

This study discusses the importance of foreign direct investment (FDI) for the empowerment of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. The method used in this study is a juridical approach method with analytical descriptive research specifications. This discussion in this study suggests that foreign investment, particularly FDI, plays an important role in the economy of a nation, as sources of skills, knowledge and technologies. In facing high competitions, MSMEs in Indonesia need to be able to face global challenges, such as increased product and service innovations, development of human resources and technology, and expansion of marketing areas. FDI, therefore, can play a crucial role to empower local MSMEs in Indonesia.

Abstract

The emergence of the global financial crisis in 2008 has become the reason for the increased use of interventionist economic policy in developed countries in that year. The main instrument of this policy was the significant development of a mild monetary policy and interventionist measures that aim was to force the restructuring processes of heavily indebted enterprises. These measures were used to stop the decline in lending in banking systems. In developed countries, anti-crisis interventionist assistance programs for the financial system and pro-active interventionist measures were activated in order to stimulate significantly weakened economic growth. The costs of saving banks and enterprises from financial bankruptcy have contributed to the increase in debt in the public finance systems of many countries. Analyzes and assessments of government interventionist anti-crisis programs and programs to activate demand, investment, production and liquidity in the credit market have been carried out since 2009. As part of the pro-development activities of the state intervention, the Federal Reserve Bank (Fed) applied a light monetary policy of low interest rates and a program for activating lending and maintaining liquidity in the financial system by financing the purchase of the most endangered assets from commercial banks. A few years later, the European Central Bank (ECB) applied the same activities of activation monetary policy.

Abstract

Though cultural explanations as determinants of economic outcomes have mainly been ignored by researchers (Guiso et al., 2006), national culture, on the other hand, has been proven to have a direct and identifiable impact on the level of entrepreneurial behavior (Kreiser et al.,2002).With more than 300 ethnic groups, each with their own language and dialect, Indonesia is a unique case of classical cultural diversity. Indonesian culture embraces collectivism and the traditional values of Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam, belief systems which inherently function against the fostering of entrepreneurial spirit (Dana, 1995). Removing impediments to entrepreneurship is a key challenge for the government. Using Indonesiaas a case in point, this paper assesses the influence culture has on entrepreneurship and explores initiatives and measures that can be used to strengthen inherent cultural values that stimulate entrepreneurship, encourage risk-taking, and in turn promote economic development.
