The Mandi Meugang tradition is a local cultural practice that continues to be preserved by the people of Kute Cinta Damai, Aceh Tenggara Regency, to this day. This tradition is considered important because it is believed to bring blessings and spiritual purification before the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan. However, over time, the practice of Mandi Meugang has undergone a shift in meaning and implementation due to the community’s declining knowledge of its original procedures and underlying values. This study aims to describe the implementation process of the Mandi Meugang tradition and to explore the religious values embedded within it among the people of Kute Cinta Damai. This research employs a qualitative field study using a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with community leaders and tradition practitioners, as well as documentation of ritual activities related to Mandi Meugang. The findings reveal that Mandi Meugang is performed one day before Ramadan, involving several stages such as going to the river, reciting an intention, and bathing using pangir (a mixture of traditional herbs). The tradition embodies several religious values, including self-purification before fasting, gratitude for the coming of Ramadan, the spirit of togetherness, mutual forgiveness, and the strengthening of social bonds among community members. Thus, the Mandi Meugang tradition functions not only as a ritual preparation for Ramadan but also as a medium for preserving religious and communal values within the social life of the Kute Cinta Damai community.

Badar District is a border area characterized by a plural society where both Muslim and Christian communities coexist in relatively equal proportions. This socio-religious diversity places religious leaders such as dai and pastors in a crucial position to promote harmony and prevent social tension. This study aims to analyze the roles of dai and pastors in preventing negative speech within the community of Badar District, Southeast Aceh Regency. The research employed a qualitative field research approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively with an emphasis on social meaning and contextual interpretation. The findings reveal that both dai and pastors play a significant role in preventing the use of negative speech that could potentially trigger social conflict. Dai utilize sermons, religious study sessions, and preaching training to instill polite communication ethics, while pastors employ weekly homilies, pastoral counseling, and interfaith moderation programs to foster mutual respect among different faith groups. These collaborative efforts have successfully raised public awareness of the importance of maintaining ethical speech, strengthening interfaith dialogue, and reinforcing social cohesion in the multicultural context of Southeast Aceh.

The digital era has significantly influenced students’ ways of thinking, behavior, and value systems, including those related to religious and cultural literacy. This study aims to analyze the influence of the digital era on the strengthening of religious and cultural literacy values among students of the Study of Religions Program. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that the digital era provides easier access to religious and cultural information while also posing challenges in preserving authenticity and religious identity. Positive use of digital technology can enhance interreligious understanding and cultural awareness, whereas uncontrolled use may lead to value disorientation. Therefore, an integrated digital literacy strategy within religious and cultural education is essential to help students critically select information and maintain religious values as well as local cultural wisdom amid digital globalization.

This study aims to analyze the existence of the Protestant Church in Western Indonesia (GPIB) in Banda Aceh City as a reflection of religious tolerance within a predominantly Muslim society. The research is grounded in the socio-religious dynamics of Banda Aceh, a region implementing Islamic law while guaranteeing freedom of religion for other faith communities. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that the presence of GPIB is socially accepted due to effective communication between the church congregation, local community leaders, and the government. Factors supporting this tolerance include local cultural values, inclusive regional policies, and the role of religious figures in maintaining harmony. Therefore, the existence of GPIB in Banda Aceh represents a dynamic form of tolerance that balances religious identity and local governance.

This study aims to refute the prevailing narrative of intolerance in Aceh by presenting a comprehensive historical and empirical analysis of religious harmony in the region. Aceh, widely known as the “Veranda of Mecca,” has often been portrayed in national and international discourse as an area with low levels of religious tolerance, particularly due to its implementation of Islamic law. However, this perception frequently overlooks the broader socio-historical and cultural context of Acehnese society. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach that integrates historical, sociological, and literature-based methods, this research examines patterns of interreligious relations from the era of the Samudra Pasai Sultanate to contemporary Aceh. The findings reveal that values of tolerance, openness, and coexistence have long been embedded in Acehnese society, reflected in historical records of cross-cultural trade, the acceptance of foreign leaders, and the preservation of non-Muslim religious sites. Empirical evidence further demonstrates that interfaith harmony continues to be practiced in everyday life, supported by local wisdom such as peumulia jamee (honoring guests) and communal solidarity traditions. Case studies from various regions in Aceh, along with testimonies from community leaders and minority groups, indicate a high level of social cohesion and mutual respect among religious communities. This study argues that the narrative of intolerance in Aceh is largely shaped by external perspectives that tend to generalize isolated incidents without considering the region’s complex social realities. By integrating historical insights and contemporary empirical data, this research offers a more balanced understanding of Aceh as a society where Islamic values coexist with pluralism and universal human principles

This study aims to analyze the influence of the intensity of playing the online game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang on the religiosity of people in Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar Regency. The rapid development of digital technology has made online gaming one of the most popular forms of entertainment across various social groups. On the one hand, online games provide several benefits, including the enhancement of strategic thinking, teamwork, communication skills, and social interaction. On the other hand, excessive gaming intensity may affect individuals’ religious lives, particularly in terms of worship practices and the internalization of religious values. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling and included active Mobile Legends players, parents, religious leaders, and community leaders. Data were analyzed through the stages of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that Mobile Legends playing behavior encompasses teamwork, competitiveness, strategic thinking, social interaction, supportive attitudes, as well as negative behaviors such as toxic communication and addictive tendencies. The game contributes positively to the development of cognitive abilities, communication skills, teamwork, and recreational well-being. However, excessive gaming intensity may lead to physical health problems, sleep disturbances, weakened social relationships, and reduced participation in religious activities. Furthermore, the use of inappropriate language and aggressive behavior within the game environment may conflict with religious values that emphasize politeness, self-control, and respect for others. The study concludes that there is a significant influence of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang playing intensity on the religiosity of the community in Indrapuri District. Therefore, effective time management and proportional use of online games are necessary to ensure that the benefits of gaming do not diminish individuals’ religious commitment and spiritual well-being

This article examines the concept of the theology of diversity from the perspective of Amin Abdullah and its relevance to strengthening religious harmony in Indonesia. The study is motivated by the increasing socio-religious challenges within multicultural societies that are vulnerable to conflict due to exclusivism and absolute truth claims. Unlike previous studies that tend to be descriptive, this research emphasizes a critical analysis of Amin Abdullah’s integrative-interconnective paradigm as a theological approach capable of fostering inclusive and dialogical religiosity. This study employs a qualitative library research method using hermeneutical and critical analytical approaches toward Amin Abdullah’s works and related literature. The findings reveal that Amin Abdullah’s theology of diversity is constructed upon the integration of religious normativity and the historical realities of plural societies. Through the integrative-interconnective paradigm, Amin Abdullah proposes a model of religiosity that is open, tolerant, humanistic, and based on interreligious dialogue. This concept is highly relevant in strengthening religious moderation and implementing the trilogy of religious harmony in Indonesia. This study concludes that the theology of diversity not only contributes theoretically to the development of contemporary Islamic studies but also provides practical implications for building peaceful, inclusive, and harmonious social life within Indonesia’s pluralistic society

This study aims to analyze the role of young people as agents of strengthening religious and cultural literacy based on local wisdom in Pantan Cuaca District, Gayo Lues Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of youth, religious leaders, traditional leaders, village officials, and community members from Pantan Kota, Tetingi, and Remukut villages. The findings reveal that young people play an active role in strengthening religious literacy through the organization of Islamic study circles (pengajian) and majelis ta’lim, the provision of religious books and waqf copies of the Qur’an, and participation in grave-digging traditions as an expression of religious and social values. In strengthening cultural literacy, young people actively engage in communal work (gotong royong) and preserve traditional Gayo arts such as Saman Dance, Didong, and Debus. These activities have generated positive impacts on the community, including strengthening social solidarity and unity, enhancing religious and cultural knowledge, and reducing the potential for conflict, thereby fostering a more harmonious social life. The study concludes that young people hold a strategic position as agents of change who contribute to preserving religious and cultural values rooted in local wisdom amid the challenges of modernization and globalization

This study examines the story of Prophet Noah in the Qur’an and the Bible through a multidisciplinary comparative approach encompassing theological, historical, literary, and socio-religious perspectives. The aim of this research is to identify the similarities and differences in narrative structure, theological emphasis, and moral messages conveyed by both sacred texts, as well as to understand their implications for religious understanding among believers. The method employed is a qualitative library research approach with a comparative narrative analysis, utilizing primary sources from the Qur’an and the Bible alongside relevant secondary literature. The findings reveal that the Qur’an presents the story of Prophet Noah thematically, emphasizing the dimensions of prophetic preaching (da‘wah), steadfast faith, and the rejection of truth by his people. In contrast, the Bible offers a more chronological narrative, focusing on God’s covenant, the salvation of Noah’s family, and the manifestation of divine law. From a literary perspective, the Qur’an employs a concise and symbolic rhetorical style, whereas the Bible provides a more descriptive and historical account. Theologically, both texts affirm the oneness and justice of God, yet differ in their emphasis on the mechanisms of salvation and the nature of the relationship between God and humanity. In conclusion, despite differences in narrative approach and theological focus, both traditions convey shared universal values such as faith, obedience, patience, and moral lessons derived from past communities. This multidisciplinary approach enriches interreligious understanding and opens pathways for more inclusive dialogue within comparative religious studies
