Abstract

Research Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effects of sales promotion and live shopping on consumers’ purchase intention on the TikTok Shop platform. Design/ Methodology / Approach Research: This study employs a quantitative associative-descriptive approach involving 60 respondents who have purchased products through TikTok Shop live sessions and utilized sales promotions. Data were collected using five-point Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression. Research Results: The results show that sales promotion has a positive but insignificant effect on purchase intention (t = 0.504; Sig. = 0.616), while live shopping has a negative and insignificant effect (t = −1.486; Sig. = 0.143). Simultaneously, sales promotion and live shopping do not significantly affect purchase intention (F = 1.275; Sig. = 0.287). The R Square value of 0.043 indicates that these two variables explain only 4.3% of the variation in purchase intention. Implications of Research Results: These findings indicate that sales promotion and live shopping are not the primary determinants of consumers’ purchase intention on TikTok Shop. Therefore, sellers should consider other factors, such as seller trust, product quality, customer reviews, perceived value, and previous shopping experience, to strengthen consumers’ purchase intention.

Abstract

Research Objectives This study aims to examine the market reaction to merger and acquisition (M&A) announcements by analyzing differences in abnormal returns before and after the announcement among target companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2019–2024 period. The study also aims to determine whether M&A announcements contain information that generates significant abnormal returns in the capital market. Design Methodology / Approach Research: This study employs a quantitative approach using an event study methodology. The research sample consists of 47 M&A transactions involving 33 target companies listed on the IDX during 2019–2024, selected using purposive sampling. Secondary data were obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, the Indonesia Competition Commission (KPPU), Refinitiv Eikon, and Yahoo Finance. The event window covers seven trading days, from three days before to three days after the announcement date (−3 to +3), with an estimation window of 120 trading days. Abnormal returns were calculated using three expected-return models: the Market Model, Mean Adjusted Model, and Market Adjusted Model. Hypothesis testing employed the Paired Sample t-Test for normally distributed data and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test for non-normally distributed data. Research Results: The results show that M&A announcements did not produce a statistically significant difference in abnormal returns before and after the announcement across all three expected-return models. The Market Model produced a significance value of 0.192, the Mean Adjusted Model produced 0.102, and the Market Adjusted Model produced 0.458. All significance values exceeded the 0.05 threshold. Although the descriptive results indicate negative abnormal returns around the announcement period, particularly on the announcement day and immediately afterward, these movements were not statistically significant. Implication of Research Results: The findings indicate that M&A announcements among target companies listed on the IDX during 2019–2024 did not provide sufficient new information to generate significant abnormal returns. This suggests that M&A information may have been anticipated or reflected in stock prices before the official announcement, consistent with the semi-strong form of the Efficient Market Hypothesis. For investors, the results imply that relying solely on official M&A announcements may not provide a consistent opportunity to obtain abnormal returns.

Abstract

Research Objectives: This study aims to analyze the financial performance of KSP Balo’ta Makassar Branch during the 2021–2023 period based on liquidity, solvency, and profitability ratios. The study focuses on identifying the financial condition of the cooperative and evaluating the extent to which its financial performance meets the applicable performance benchmarks. Design/ Methodology / Approach Research: This study employs a descriptive quantitative research design. The research uses secondary data obtained from the financial statements of KSP Balo’ta Makassar Branch for the 2021–2023 financial years. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using financial ratio analysis. Liquidity was measured using the Current Ratio and Cash Ratio; solvency was assessed using the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER) and Debt to Asset Ratio (DAR); while profitability was evaluated using Net Profit Margin (NPM), Return on Assets (ROA), and Return on Equity (ROE). The calculated ratios were compared with the performance standards adopted in the study. The research design and use of secondary financial statement data are consistent with the methodology reported in the underlying study. Research Results: The results indicate that the liquidity performance of KSP Balo’ta Makassar Branch remained below the adopted standards throughout 2021–2023. The Current Ratio was 57.12% in 2021, 107.00% in 2022, and 97.91% in 2023, while the Cash Ratio was 2.64%, 7.30%, and 5.27%, respectively. Solvency performance was also relatively weak, with the Debt to Equity Ratio reaching 618.46%, 348.39%, and 476.24%, while the Debt to Asset Ratio was 86.08%, 77.69%, and 82.64% during the same period. Profitability showed mixed results. Net Profit Margin increased substantially from -0.47% in 2021 and 0.38% in 2022 to 55.21% in 2023, whereas ROA and ROE remained below the adopted performance standards. The underlying study consequently identifies persistent weaknesses in liquidity and solvency, while profitability showed improvement primarily through NPM in 2023. Implications of Research Results: The findings imply that KSP Balo’ta Makassar Branch needs to strengthen short-term liquidity management, improve the management and collection of loan receivables, and reduce excessive dependence on liabilities. The cooperative also needs to strengthen internal capital and improve operational efficiency to support sustainable profitability. These measures are particularly important because the underlying research identifies liquidity management, capital strengthening, operational efficiency, human resource development, and information technology utilization as areas requiring managerial attention.
