Abstract

Abstract Lack of conceptual comprehension can lead students to form a wrong concept. Students’ conceptual comprehension that is different from the actual concept is called a misconception. Biological topic that is prone to misconception is cell bioprocess because the topic is abstract and complete. This research aims to describe the profile of students’ misconceptions using the three-tier diagnostic test, to describe the factors that cause misconceptions, and to offer solutions that overcome students’ misconceptions in cell bioprocess topic. The data collection methods were carried out by providing a three-tier diagnostic test through google form and interviewing through google meet and social media. The research subjects were 60 students of the 11th grade MIPA in SMA Negeri 1 Kamal. The data of diagnostic test were processed and grouped according to the category of students’ conceptual comprehension, besides the interviews data were analyzed by generalizations based on interviews’ answers. The results showed that 76% misconception occurred in cell bioprocess with 79.40% misconception in membrane transport, 74.30% misconception in protein synthesis, and 71.80% misconception in cell reproduction. Factors that cause misconceptions are students' low mastery of the concepts, the use of complicated terms and incomplete information in textbooks, also the lack of interaction between teachers and students. Students’ misconceptions can be reduced through the application of interactive models or media that assist in constructing conceptual comprehension correctly. Further studies of the development and implementation of digital-based learning media in cell bioprocess topic including membrane transport, cell reproduction, and protein synthesis sub-topic should be done near the future to reduce students’ misconceptions. Abstract

Misconception is students’ misunderstanding in interpreting a concept within scientific theory. Amongst the biological topics that often cause misconceptions is protein synthesis. Protein synthesis is considered as a topic with complex concepts. This research aims to describe the students’ misconceptions profile in protein synthesis topic and describe the causing factors of students’ misconception in protein synthesis topic. This research is descriptive quantitative using four-tier diagnostic test instrument which consisting of 4 tiers, 1st tier is the question with 5 possible answers, 2nd tier is the level of confidence of the answer, 3rd tier is the 5 possible reasons, and 4th tier is the level of confidence of the reason. This research was conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic, which made it impossible to meet directly, so the data was collected online via google form and google meet. The study subjects were 34 students of grade XII MIPA-4 SMA Negeri 1 Gresik. Results showed that 32.37% misconceptions occurred in the protein synthesis topic. The highest misconception was in the concept of RNA characteristics, with the percentage of 65%. Factors that cause misconceptions were the students’ lack of interest in protein synthesis topic, the teacher were too fast in explaining the information, limited selection of learning methods during Covid-19 pandemic, and the information in the textbook was incomplete and difficult to understand. Implementation testing of models, methods, or learning media can be done to reduce students' misconceptions in protein synthesis topic, especially in the concept of RNA characteristic, DNA replication, and translation process.

Abstract

Abstract The 2013 curriculum requires students with productive, innovative, and creative traits that have a positive contribution to social life, for instance by creating graduates who have an entrepreneurial interest to be an ecopreneur. To be able to fulfill these demands, school life-learning is needed, which is supported by decent and appropriate teaching materials in order to increase the entrepreneurial interest of students. The research aims to produce teaching materials in the form of Electronic-Worksheets (E-Worksheets) waste recycling ecopreneurship to instruct students' entrepreneurial interest which is theoretically and empirically feasible in accordance with the requirements of the 2013 curriculum and 21st century learning using the 4D method. (define, design, develop, disseminate) without doing the disseminate stage. Theoretical feasibility is obtained from the validation results, while empirical feasibility is obtained from the results of the teacher response questionnaire. E-worksheets ecopreneurship waste recycling is declared very feasible theoretically with an average value of 3.66 and empirical with an average value of 98%. Abstract

The high school curriculum encourages students to have metacognitive skills. Genetic is one of the materials in biology that train metacognitive skills. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the learning system has changed into online learning that causing new problems, such as teaching materials that are not able to facilitate students to train metacognitive skills. Teaching materials in the form of electronic student worksheet (E-LKPD) by using Know-Want-Learned (KWL) strategy assisted by the application of Ms. Office Word can be used to facilitate online learning. This research aims to describe the effect of implementing E-LKPD by using Know-Want-Learned (KWL) strategy on learning outcomes and student’s metacognitive skills. This study was conducted online using One Group Pre-test Post-test Design which was carried out at SMA Negeri 3 Tuban on 30 students on XII MIPA 1. The results showed that the implementation of learning obtained an average of 100% in the very practical category. The student’s responses obtained an average of 96.7% in the very practical category. Learning outcomes based on the pre-test and post-test score obtained the N-Gain Score’s average of 0.6%. The completeness of the item indicators with sensitivity score of ≥ 0.30. Metacognitive skills based on the average of increasing metacognitive score from poor category to the very good category. Thus it can be concluded that E-LKPD by using KWL strategyas a solution for the lack of material in the outbreak of Covid-19 is practical and effective to be applied in online learning to train metacognitive skills. Abstract

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) which intensively provides convenience and practicality in implementing learning activities, especially during this pandemic, which requires learning to be done online. However, this does not prevent students from having critical thinking skills in the 21st century. Students' critical thinking skills can be trained using a modified free inquiry model because students are required to independently find answers to existing problems. Modified free inquiry model is the collaboration or modification of both the guided inquiry and the free inquiry model. Therefore, the use of technology is very necessary to prepare teaching materials that can train critical thinking skills. The purpose of this research was to develop e-book based on modified free inquiry on ecology topic to train critical thinking skills that are valid theoretically and empirically. This research used 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), without a dissemination stage. The e-book developed was tried out limited on 10 students of SMAN 19 Surabaya grade 10th. The validity of the e-book is determined from the validation results of experts (education experts and material experts) and biology teachers in terms of presentation, content, and language components. The practicality of the e-book is determined by student responses. The data analysis technique was carried out by descriptive quantitative. The results of the validity analysis showed an average percentage of 93.93% with a very valid category, while the results of the student responses obtained an average percentage of 98.88% with a very feasible category. Thus, it can be concluded that the modified free inquiry e-book on ecology topic to train critical thinking skills in class X high school students could be used in biology learning. Abstract

Pada masa Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (PJJ) secara online diperlukan bahan ajar elektronik yang dapat memfasilitasi dalam pembelajaran biologi sekaligus melatihkan keterampilan proses sains terintegrasi untuk memaksimalkan pembelajaran online. Salah satu metode yang menuntun dalam proses penemuan untuk memfasilitasi ketrampilan proses sains terintegrasi yaitu Guided Discovery (GD). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangan bahan ajar untuk menghasilkan e-LKPD berbasis guided discovery untuk melatih keterampilan proses sains terintegrasi pada materi fotosintesis yang layak berdasarkan validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan. Penelitian ini mengunakan pengembangan model 4-D yakni Define, Design, Develop, tanpa Disseminate. Data penelitian yang didapatkan dari pengembangan e-LKPD ini berasal dari hasil telaah, validasi oleh para ahli, data hasil observasi keterlaksanaan oleh observer, dan data hasil pretest dan posttest serta data respon peserta didik. Kriteria penilaian untuk validitas dinyatakan valid apabila persentasenya ≥ 61%, sedangkan penilaian kepraktisan dinyatakan praktis apabila persentase observasi keterlaksanaan mencapai ≥ 51% dan dikategorikan efektif berdasarkan ketuntasan indikator keterampilan proses sains terintegrasi apabila peserta didik mendapat skor tes ≥ 75. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa e-LKPD yang dikembangkan mendapat persentase validitas sebesar 98,05% dengan kategori sangat valid. Hasil kepraktisan mendapatkan persentase sebesar 84,77% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Hasil keefektifan mendapatkan beberapa hasil diantaranya ketuntasan tes keterampilan proses sains terintegrasi sebesar 92%, ketercapaian indikator keterampilan proses sains terintegrasi sebesar 89,3%, dan respon positif peserta didik terhadap e-LKPD yang dikembangkan sebesar 96,8%. Dengan begitu, e-LKPD yang dihasilkan berdasarkan aspek validitas, kepraktisan dan keefektifan dinyatakan layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Abstract

Conception is a person's understanding of something being observed. Cell material is prone to misconceptions owing to the fact that the material is unable to be sensed, moreover there are many sub-concepts that need to be fully apprehended. This research aims to describe the high school students conception profile on the cell material in Tuban Regency using the Three-Tier Test method, to describe the differences in the conception of high school students on cell material in Tuban Regency, and to describe the differences in the conception profile of students by school area. This is a descriptive-quantitative research using Three-Tier Test instrument. Data collection was carried out online via google form and interviews via google meet. 60 high school students of class XI in Tuban Regency were involved as the target of the research. The results showed that the conception profile of high school students on cell material in Tuban Regency mastered the concept of 53.21%, did not master the concept of 14.01% and misconceptions 32.78%. The highest of school that did not mastering concept was High School 1 Bancar at 31.30% and the highest misconception was High School 3 Tuban at 36.48%. Students experienced the highest misconception on the endocytosis concept, which was 63.33%. The cause of misconceptions is from student itself, worksheet book, and the teacher’s explanation. Abstract

Virus merupakan salah satu materi pada mata pelajaran biologi. Pembelajaran biologi pada kondisi pandemi menuntut peserta didik untuk memahami materi dengan baik meskipun kegiatan pembelajaran berlangsung secara jarak jauh. Kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan juga perlu pengkondisian agar tetap berjalan dengan aktif dan bersifat student centered yaitu dengan penerapan Lembar Penilaian Pemahaman Diri (LPPD). LPPD yang telah dikembangkan dimodifikasi agar sesuai dengan proses pembelajaran jarak jauh sehingga dikemas dalam bentuk E-LPPD. E-LPPD ini merupakan implementasi salah satu strategi belajar yang sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum 2013 yaitu strategi metakognitif. E-LPPD yang digunakan pada materi virus ini terdiir dari E-LPPD Individu dan Kelompok. Dalam E-LPPD berisi pertanyaan terkait materi virus dan beberapa fitur diantaranya menentukan tingkat keyakinan, membandingkan konsep, dan menentukan skor. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan pengaruh E-LPPD Berbasis Metakognitif pada Materi Virus terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan One group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian dilaksanakan secara daring di SMA Negeri 1 Waru pada 25 peserta didik kelas X MIPA 4. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase rata-rata keterlaksanaan 94,5% pada E-LPPD 1 dan 99,7% pada E-LPPD 2 dengan kategori sangat praktis. Respon peserta didik menunjukkan hasil yang positif yaitu 94,25% dengan kategori sangat efektif. Hasil belajar peserta didik mengalami peningkatan yang ditunjukkan pada hasil rata-rata N-gain score sebesar 0,5 dengan kategori sedang. Ketuntasan indikator peserta didik meningkat sebesar persentase 69,3% yang termasuk dalam kategori baik dengan rata-rata N-gain score sebesar 0,4 yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. E-LPPD dinyatakan memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik pada materi virus. Kata Kunci: E-LPPD, metakognitif, materi virus

Abstract

Pembelajaran jarak jauh menuntut peserta didik menjadi pebelajar yang mandiri. Strategi belajar metakognitif dapat membantu peserta didik menjadi pebelajar mandiri dengan meregulasi dan memonitor proses belajarnya. Selain itu, salah satu upaya untuk mengaktifkan pembelajaran yaitu menyediakan LKPD (Lembar Kegiatan Peserta Didik) dalam bentuk elektronik atau E-LKPD. E-LKPD terintegrasi metakognitif yang dapat memotivasi peserta didik untuk memanfaatkan pengetahuan awal dan keterampilan metakognitif adalah E-LKPD Berbasis Strategi KWL (Know, Want, Learned) dengan tambahan kegiatan Plus (Mapping). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kepraktisan dan keefektifan penerapan LKPD Berbasis Strategi KWL Plus pada Materi Archaebacteria dan Eubacteria yang dimodifikasi menjadi E-LKPD sebagai bentuk penyesuaian pembelajaran daring. Penelitian ini menggunakan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design yang dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Gresik pada kelas X MIPA 7 sebanyak 28 peserta didik melalui Google Classroom. Hasil penelitian penerapan ini menunjukkan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran sebesar 100% pada pertemuan pertama maupun kedua dengan kategori sangat praktis. Respon peserta didik terhadap E-LKPD sebesar 94% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Hasil belajar peserta didik menunjukkan adanya peningkatan sebesar 66% dengan n-gain sebesar 0,4 yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Ketuntasan indikator pembelajaran juga meningkat dengan rerata 76,48% dengan kategori sedang yang dilihat dari n-gain sebesar 0,6. E-LKPD yang diterapkan dinyatakan efektif dan praktis digunakan pada pembelajaran secara daring. Kata kunci: E-LKPD, KWL Plus, Pembelajaran jarak jauh

Abstract

Dominasi peserta didik tertentu membuat penyerapan konsep materi tidak merata, khususnya bagi peserta didik yang kurang aktif. Panduan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran yang sesuai untuk mencegah dominasi salah satunya adalah LKPD yang memadukan karakteristik model pembelajaran Numbered Heads Together (NHT). Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu menghasilkan Lembar Kegiatan Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis Numbered Heads Together (NHT) untuk mengurangi dominasi peserta didik yang valid dan praktis. Kevalidan LKPD berbasis NHT dilakukan dengan metode validasi oleh dua orang dosen yaitu dosen ahli pendidikan dan dosen ahli materi menggunakan instrumen validasi yang berisi aspek isi, pedagogi, bahasa, cover, kesesuaian huruf, dan urutan langkah NHT. Kepraktisan LKPD diukur melalui keterbacaan teks yang ada dalam LKPD dan disesuaikan dengan Grafik Fray serta respon guru melalui metode wawancara terbuka. LKPD berabsis NHT berisi petunjuk peggunaan LKPD, permasalahan yang harus dipecahkan oleh peserta didik, serta kegiatan praktikum dan mejawab pertanyaan yang sesuai dengan karakteristik LKPD. Hasil dari penilaian validasi menyebutkan bahwa LKPD berbasis NHT valid dengan perolehan skor rata-rata aspek isi 3,83; aspek pedagogi 4; aspek bahasa 4; aspek penyajian cover 4; aspek kesesuaian huruf 4; dan aspek urutan langkah NHT 3,83 dengan katagori sangat valid. Hasil Kepraktisan LKPD dengan mengukur keterbacaan teks dalam LKPD yaitu praktis karena sesuai dengan tingkatan kelas peserta didik (kelas 11 SMA) dengan jumlah suku kata 142,4 dan 3,3 kalimat serta respon positif guru terhadap LKPD NHT dengan jawaban sesuai. Dengan dikembangkannya LKPD berbasis NHT maka dominasi peserta didik tertentu akan berkurang sehingga pemahaman konsep yang dimiliki peserta didik merata. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa LKPD berbasis NHT valid dan praktis untuk mengurangi dominasi peserta didik tertentu secara teoritis.
