Abstract

This study examines the intricate relationship between capitalist economic systems, socialist ideals, and the evolution of modern social theory. The central focus of this research is to investigate how capitalism operates not merely as an economic mechanism but also as a historical force that shapes class hierarchies and bureaucratic systems within modern society. The analysis concentrates on the dynamics of capitalism, socialism, and social theory, with particular attention to social transformations in Europe especially the divergent paths of industrialization between England and Germany and their implications for political stability. The approach employed is a qualitative historical-comparative literature analysis. Materials were gathered through a review of relevant primary works and historical documents, aiming to compare capitalist models across different nations. The findings reveal that while capitalism significantly drives industrial advancement, it simultaneously fosters inter-class tensions and massively expands bureaucracy. This study concludes that socialism emerged as a critical response to these contradictions but has itself encountered obstacles in the form of rigid bureaucratic regulations. Modern social theory ultimately asserts that understanding contemporary society requires integrating the dimensions of economic power, political authority, and moral foundations to address crises within both capitalist and socialist societies.

Abstract

This article aims to outline the main ideas about social sciences, the scope of their studies, and their relevance in modern life marked by technological developments and globalization. The results of the study show that social science has an important role in helping humans understand various social phenomena, such as social interaction, cultural change, social conflicts, and the development of modern society. In addition, social sciences also function as a means of education that is able to form social awareness, critical thinking skills, and responsibility as citizens. The novelty of this article lies in the discussion that not only outlines the basic concepts and scope of social sciences, but also relates them to societal challenges in the digital era and globalization. Through this approach, this paper provides a more complete view of the important role of social sciences in responding to the increasingly diverse and complex changes in today's life.

Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of the lives of teenagers in the digital age. The presence of social media provides various conveniences in communication, information exchange, and the formation of social relationships. However, excessive use of social media also has the potential to have various negative impacts on adolescents' social interactions. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media use on adolescents' social interactions, both from positive and negative sides, especially in the aspects of communication, friendship, education, and social interaction. The method used in this study is library research by collecting, reviewing, and analyzing various scientific sources in the form of books, national and international journals, and scientific articles relevant to the research topic. The results of the study show that (1) social media facilitates communication and information exchange between adolescents, (2) social media expands friendship networks and supports the learning process, and (3) excessive use of social media can reduce the quality of face-to-face interactions, increase the risk of digital addiction, cyberbullying, and reduce social concern for the surrounding environment. The novelty of this research lies in the discussion that integrates the four main aspects of adolescent life, namely communication, friendship, education, and social interaction in one comprehensive study so as to provide a broader picture of the influence of social media on the social development of adolescents in the digital era.

Abstract

Behavioral changes in modern society represent a complex phenomenon triggered by various social dynamics. This study aims to identify and analyze the internal and external factors driving behavioral changes in modern society, referencing the theoretical framework of the primary literature. The method employed in this research is library research, which involves collecting, filtering, and analyzing secondary data from various scientific textbooks and relevant reputable sociological journals. The results indicate that internal factors, particularly digital technology innovation driven by the dominance of the productive-age population, serve as the primary engine for the shift toward virtual communication patterns. Meanwhile, external factors in the form of foreign cultural penetration transform massively through the colonization of digital spaces by global social media algorithms. The novelty of this research highlights a shift in the impact of change from the macro-structural realm to the micro-ethical behavioral realm in cyberspace. Cultural lag is found to be the main trigger for the digital morality crisis among adolescents due to psychological unreadiness in adopting contemporary technology.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Social Studies (IPS) values ​​into the Indonesian university curriculum and its influence on the development of students' character and social awareness. The integration of IPS values ​​is considered important because higher education is not only a place to develop students' academic abilities, but also to shape social attitudes, responsibility, tolerance, nationalism, and critical thinking skills in social life. This study uses a literature review research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained from various literature sources, such as scientific journals, research articles, and educational documents related to IPS learning, character education, and the development of the university curriculum. The results of the study indicate that the integration of IPS values ​​can be implemented through various learning activities, such as social case discussions, field observations, community-based projects, social research, and community service activities. This implementation can increase students' social awareness, responsibility, tolerance, nationalism, and critical thinking skills. The results of the discussion show that the integration of IPS values ​​can be implemented effectively through various social-based learning activities in the university curriculum, and this implementation has been proven to contribute positively to improving the character, social awareness, and critical thinking skills of students in Indonesia. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on integrating social studies values ​​in the context of higher education, as previous research has focused more on the application of social studies values ​​at the elementary and secondary school levels. Therefore, this research is expected to serve as a reference in developing a higher education curriculum that is more oriented toward character building and student social awareness.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the relationship between Social Sciences (IPS) and history as the basis for social learning and to explain their roles in shaping students' social understanding in a contextual and reflective manner. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method through the collection and analysis of various literature sources, such as scientific journals, books, and relevant academic articles. The results of the study indicate that IPS and history have a complementary relationship in social learning. IPS plays a role in understanding various phenomena of social life, while history provides the dimension of time, the process of change, continuity, and cause-and-effect relationships in human development. The integration of both can improve students' critical, analytical, and reflective thinking skills, and contribute to the formation of character, social awareness, tolerance, responsibility, and national identity. The novelty of this article lies in its effort to position history not only as a source of material in IPS, but also as an epistemological foundation and pedagogical strategy that connects historical experiences with contemporary social phenomena. Thus, social learning becomes more meaningful, contextual, and relevant to the needs of 21st-century education.

Abstract

The social ecology approach examines the reciprocal interactions that mutually influence individuals, communities, and their surrounding environment. This concept emerged in response to the increasingly complex challenges of modern environmental crises, ranging from global warming to massive natural resource exploitation. Through a literature review method and content analysis of scientific journals published in the last five years, this article explores the concept of social ecology, the dynamics of human-environment relationships, and their implications for sustainable development. The study findings indicate that environmental degradation does not stand alone ecologically but is deeply rooted in social inequality, human domination, and extractive economic systems. Therefore, social ecology offers a resolution in the form of social transformation grounded in justice, the strengthening of local traditions, and the active involvement of communities. Ultimately, this paradigm is not merely oriented toward natural conservation, but also catalyzes the emergence of a democratic, equitable, and environmentally conscious social order for the achievement of balanced sustainability.

Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally changed the landscape of consumer behavior, especially in the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector in the fashion sector. The TikTok platform emerged as a dominant force where affiliate creator content  acts as a persuasive bridge between products and buyers. This study aims to empirically examine the influence of affiliate creator content  and TikTok content quality on consumer purchasing decisions  of MSME fashion products. The research method used was quantitative with a survey approach of 150 respondents who were active users of TikTok and had made transactions through the platform. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression. The results show that affiliate creator content  has a positive and significant effect on trust and buying interest, while the quality of TikTok content contributes significantly to shaping the perception of product value. Simultaneously, these two variables explain 71% of the variation in purchase decisions. These findings indicate that the synergy between the interpersonal credibility of creators and the visual aesthetics of content is a crucial strategy for MSMEs. This article offers updates by integrating psychological (source credibility) and technical aspects (content quality) in the context  of a dynamic short-video ecosystem.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the influence of social factors on student creativity, emphasizing the role of family support, peer support, and the social climate on campus. The method used is a literature review, examining Indonesian journals from the last five years related to social influence, learning motivation, and student creativity. The findings show that: (1) family social support plays a role in boosting students' self-confidence and courage in developing ideas; (2) peer support provides an interactive space that encourages the exchange of ideas and increases learning motivation; (3) a positive campus environment strengthens student involvement in creative activities. Overall, social support is proven to reinforce a sense of security, increase motivation, and encourage students to innovate. Student creativity is also linked to the ability to take initiative, solve problems, and develop entrepreneurial interests. Based on the literature review, it can be concluded that social influence not only functions as a supporting factor, but also as the primary catalyst for the development of student creativity. The novelty of this article lies in combining the roles of three social sources  family, peers, and campus within a single analytical framework that emphasizes the indirect relationship through intrinsic motivation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Meugang tradition in strengthening social solidarity among the Acehnese people and to conceptualize its relevance as a local wisdom-based Social Sciences (IPS) learning instrument. The research method used is a comprehensive library research study, by collecting, reducing, and critically analyzing data from various history and sociology textbooks, as well as reputable scientific journals. The results of the study indicate that the Meugang tradition is not merely a ritual of meat consumption before Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha, but rather an established social institution that integrates Islamic religiosity, food security, and communal philanthropy. The dynamics of modernization, market capitalization, and the surge in meat commodity prices pose real structural challenges, but local mechanisms such as meuripee (group contributions) and meuraseuki (sharing of fortune) have proven capable of reducing potential conflict and social class disintegration. The novelty of this research lies in the philosophical reconstruction of the Meugang tradition into the IPS learning curriculum through a prophetic sociology approach. This tradition is transformed from a mere cultural ritual into an applicable pedagogical material to foster the values ​​of organic solidarity, social empathy, and collective awareness of students in the era of digital disruption and modern individualism.
