Abstract

The development of Islam from the classical to the modern era represents a historical process that reflects dynamic changes in various aspects of Muslim life, including politics, society, economy, education, and science. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of Islamic development from the classical period through the medieval and modern periods and to identify the factors influencing such development. The study employs a library research method with a historical-descriptive approach. Data were collected from various literature sources, including books, scientific journals, and historical documents relevant to the research topic. The findings indicate that the classical period was the golden age of Islam, characterized by significant advancements in science, civilization, and territorial expansion. During the medieval period, the Islamic world experienced decline due to internal conflicts, political fragmentation, the Mongol invasion, and Western colonialism. Meanwhile, the modern period has been marked by Islamic reform movements that sought to integrate Islamic values with the advancement of science and technology. The dynamics of Islamic development have been influenced by internal factors such as leadership, education, and religious thought, as well as external factors including intercivilizational interactions, colonialism, globalization, and technological progress. This study concludes that Islam possesses a strong capacity to adapt to changing times, enabling it to maintain its existence and continue contributing to the development of human civilization up to the present day.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Meugang tradition in strengthening social solidarity among the Acehnese people and to conceptualize its relevance as a local wisdom-based Social Sciences (IPS) learning instrument. The research method used is a comprehensive library research study, by collecting, reducing, and critically analyzing data from various history and sociology textbooks, as well as reputable scientific journals. The results of the study indicate that the Meugang tradition is not merely a ritual of meat consumption before Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha, but rather an established social institution that integrates Islamic religiosity, food security, and communal philanthropy. The dynamics of modernization, market capitalization, and the surge in meat commodity prices pose real structural challenges, but local mechanisms such as meuripee (group contributions) and meuraseuki (sharing of fortune) have proven capable of reducing potential conflict and social class disintegration. The novelty of this research lies in the philosophical reconstruction of the Meugang tradition into the IPS learning curriculum through a prophetic sociology approach. This tradition is transformed from a mere cultural ritual into an applicable pedagogical material to foster the values of organic solidarity, social empathy, and collective awareness of students in the era of digital disruption and modern individualism.

Abstract

Studies on Teungku Muhammad Daud Beureueh have so far placed him as a figure of struggle, leader of scholars, and socio-political actors of Aceh, while the dimension of his thought in the field of Islamic education is still relatively rarely studied specifically and systematically. This article aims to analyze the historical background that shaped Daud Beureueh's educational thought, reconstruct the concept of Islamic education he developed, and explain its relevance in the context of contemporary Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research and historical-intellectual approach. Data was obtained from books, scientific articles, historical documents, and various relevant literature, then analyzed through content analysis techniques with a descriptive-interpretive approach. This study found that the construction of Daud Beureueh's educational thought was formed through the link between the dahah tradition, the authority of the ulama, the experience of colonialism, and the dynamics of the Islamic reform movement that developed through the Aceh Ulema Association (PUSA). In this framework, education is understood as an instrument for moral formation, strengthening Islamic identity, and building community awareness and social responsibility. The concept of education that he formulated is based on the Qur'an and Sunnah with an orientation to integral human development that includes spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social dimensions. The novelty of this article lies in the effort to reconstruct Daud Beureueh's educational thinking as a complete system of ideas through the analysis of the relationship between historical context, conceptual foundations, and social functions of education. The relevance of this thought can be seen in its contribution to strengthening character education, maintaining religious identity, developing social awareness, and strengthening the role of educators in facing various challenges of contemporary Islamic education. Therefore, Daud Beureueh's educational thinking not only has historical significance in the development of Aceh's Islamic education, but also offers a relevant conceptual framework for the development of integrative, humanistic, and community-oriented Islamic education.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the dynamics of contemporary Islamic thought in Indonesia by highlighting the contestation between traditionalism, modernism, and fundamentalism in Islamic intellectual history. These three currents of thought reflect the response of Indonesian Muslims to social, political, and cultural changes, as well as the challenges of globalization and modernity. Traditionalism seeks to preserve the legacy of classical scholars and religious practices rooted in local traditions. Modernism seeks to reinterpret Islamic texts to suit scientific developments and the demands of the times. Meanwhile, fundamentalism emphasizes the purification of Islamic teachings by returning to the Qur'an and Hadith in a textual and strict manner. This study uses a library research method with a descriptive-qualitative approach, namely reviewing various relevant literature related to the development of Islamic thought in Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that (1) the emergence of these three currents of thought cannot be separated from historical dynamics, such as colonialism, the development of Islamic education, and the process of global modernization that influences the socio-religious structure of Indonesian Muslim society. (2) The contestation between traditionalism, modernism, and fundamentalism is not always conflictual, but also produces dialogue and intellectual dialectics that enrich the treasury of Islamic thought in Indonesia. The interaction of these three currents shapes the face of Indonesian Islam, which is plural, dynamic, and adaptive to changing times, both in education, politics, and socio-religious life. This study concludes that the dynamics of contemporary Islamic thought are a complex historical process, in which these three main currents interact to shape Islamic discourse in Indonesia. The novelty of this research lies in its analytical emphasis on the patterns of contestation and dialectics between traditionalism, modernism, and fundamentalism in shaping the construction of Indonesian Islamic thought in a more integrative and contextual manner.

Abstract

This study investigates the extent to which market digitalization, particularly through the adoption of e-commerce platforms, has redefined the operational and competitive landscape of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Rapid advancement in digital technology has prompted a fundamental shift from conventional trade and marketing approaches toward faster, more responsive, and geographically boundless digital systems. The proliferation of e-commerce platforms equips MSMEs with tools to broaden customer reach, accelerate sales, bolster market position, and break through regional barriers. A library research design was employed with a descriptive qualitative methodology. As articulated by Zed (2021), library research entails gathering and critically analyzing written materials including books, scholarly journals, research articles, and academic texts relevant to the subject of inquiry. The study reveals two primary findings: (1) e-commerce adoption positively affects MSME market coverage, promotional efficiency, transaction volume, and overall competitiveness; and (2) market digitalization catalyzes a paradigm shift in MSME business conduct toward more adaptable, creative, and consumer-centric operations. Nonetheless, the path toward full digital integration remains obstructed by several constraints, among them limited digital literacy, uneven technological infrastructure, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and fierce competition within the digital marketplace. Consequently, coordinated support from the government, business sector, and educational institutions in the form of digital skills training, infrastructure investment, and entrepreneurship mentoring is essential to ensure that MSME digital transformation is both effective and long-lasting. The contribution of this study extends beyond documenting e-commerce impacts on sales performance; it also explores behavioral shifts in business practices, patterns of technology adaptation, the multifaceted challenges of digital transition, and the collaborative roles of diverse stakeholders in cultivating a robust digital economic ecosystem for MSMEs in Indonesia
