Abstract

Parental divorce was examined as a continuing change in family relationships rather than a single legal event. This research use integrative qualitative review on family conflict and adolescent emotional adjustment after divorce. The reviewed studies showed that adjustment was shaped less by divorce status alone than by the relational conditions surrounding separation. Persistent interparental conflict, triangulation, boundary diffusion, unstable parent contact, and pressure to take sides were repeatedly associated with emotional insecurity and poorer adjustment. Adolescents responded differently depending on the quality of parenting, the degree of cooperation between parents, and the stability of relationships across households. Support from teachers, peers, and trusted adults also reduced vulnerability when family routines were unsettled. Emotional adjustment therefore appeared as a relational process tied to security, belonging, and the adolescent's position within a reorganized family. The findings suggested that support after divorce should focus on reducing adolescents' exposure to adult conflict and preserving reliable relationships rather than treating divorce itself as the sole source of emotional difficulty.

Abstract

Adolescence is an important stage for emotional development because young people experience changes in identity, family relationships, peer networks, academic demands, and emotional regulation. Companion animals may provide an additional source of emotional support during this period. This paper explores the role of pets in supporting adolescent emotional development through an exploratory review of previous research. The review focuses on companion animal relationships, attachment, social support, loneliness, stress coping, self-esteem, self-efficacy, resilience, family communication, and structured animal-based programs. Existing studies suggest that supportive relationships with pets may provide companionship, emotional safety, daily structure, opportunities for caregiving, and support for social interaction. However, pet ownership alone does not consistently predict better emotional health. The quality of the adolescent-pet relationship, animal species, family environment, caregiving responsibility, and the adolescent’s existing social resources may influence outcomes. Some studies also report no benefit or more complex relationships between pet ownership and loneliness, stress, or well-being. Therefore, pets should be understood as possible supportive resources rather than universal solutions to adolescent emotional difficulties. Families, schools, and mental health professionals may consider carefully planned human-animal interactions while protecting both adolescent and animal welfare. More longitudinal and culturally diverse studies are required to explain when, how, and for whom relationships with pets support healthy emotional development.

Abstract

This study examines the development of armed conflict in Papua and its impact on civilian communities from 2023 to 2025. The study focuses on the development of armed conflict incidents, civilian casualties, and the broader implications of violence for human rights and civilian protection. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using secondary data from academic literature, human rights reports, and relevant institutional documents. Human Rights Monitor data indicate that armed conflict incidents increased from 110 in 2023 to 135 in 2024 and 141 in 2025. Civilian fatalities reached 63 in 2023, declined to 44 in 2024, and increased to 73 in 2025, while civilian injuries reached 57, 37, and 48 respectively. The findings indicate that armed conflict continues to create significant risks for civilian security, social stability, and human rights. The study argues that civilian protection requires an integrated approach combining security measures, human rights protection, accountability, recognition of indigenous peoples’ rights, political dialogue, and community participation.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examined the long-established tradition of Punjabi folklore and the role of rhetorical devices in shaping meaning in folk songs. Folk songs were treated as cultural narratives transmitted across generations and closely associated with marriage rituals and communal life. The study aimed to identify how rhetorical and lexical choices contributed to cultural meaning in selected Punjabi folk music. Using an analytical-descriptive and discourse-based approach, two folk songs, “O’ Mehndi Taan Sajdi” (also referred to as “Lathy di Chaddar”) and “Chitta Kukar Banare Te,” were selected for rhetorical analysis. The analysis focused on symbolism, metaphor, repetition, parallelism, assonance, consonance, and alliteration. The findings showed that rhetorical expressions performed more than an aesthetic function. They generated linguistic effects, organized musicality, represented kinship and wedding practices, and helped preserve cultural memory and identity within Punjabi communities.

Abstract

This study explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) was represented in the works of American science fiction writer Robert C. Cargill, focusing on Sea of Rust (2017) and Day Zero (2021). Using qualitative textual analysis, forty passages from the two novels were examined through a human-compatible AI lens. The analysis found that AI was portrayed as both a source of technological promise and a potential threat to human autonomy, social roles, and survival. Human–AI relationships were represented as unstable and power-laden, especially when machines became capable of exceeding the functions assigned to them. The novels also associated advanced AI with questions of embodiment, emotional difference, dependence, adaptation, and environmental destruction. Overall, the study concluded that Cargill’s fiction presented AI as an increasingly unavoidable presence whose benefits remained inseparable from hazards created by human dependence and the possibility of machine supremacy.

Abstract

This study explored linguistic dimensions including discourse, morphology, phonology, semantics, and syntax within a stylistic framework. The findings showed that the Pakistani National Anthem employed alliteration, compounding, rhyme patterns, imagery, and other stylistic devices that contributed to its literary and emotional effect. The structural analysis also identified grouping, prominence, and cohesion as important features in organizing the anthem as a unified poetic expression. The study focused on the linguistic and structural characteristics of the anthem written by Hafeez Jalandhari and examined how its stylistic elements conveyed national meaning. A descriptive qualitative design was employed, and the anthem was analyzed manually through stylistic and text-linguistic frameworks. The analysis indicated that phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic, and discourse features worked together to reinforce themes of unity, patriotism, national identity, cultural values, and religious orientation in the text.

Abstract

This study examined the evolution of themes and narrative techniques in English-language novels by Pakistani women writers across different literary generations. Using qualitative comparative textual analysis, it considered selected works by Bapsi Sidhwa, Sara Suleri, Kamila Shamsie, Fatima Bhutto, Moni Mohsin, Uzma Aslam Khan, and Sanam Maher. The analysis focused on character representation, narrative form, language use, gender, identity, migration, memory, and socio-cultural change. The findings showed a movement from earlier concerns with cultural identity, gender discrimination, and postcolonial memory toward more transnational themes involving diaspora, political violence, hybridity, and self-realization. Contemporary fiction also displayed greater formal experimentation through fragmented chronology, multiple perspectives, and hybridized English shaped by local linguistic and cultural forms. These shifts indicated that Pakistani women novelists increasingly used narrative form as a means of negotiating gender, language, identity, and power across local and global contexts. The study concluded that this evolving literary practice broadened both the thematic range and expressive possibilities of Pakistani women’s writing in English.

Abstract

This research explored the gender gap by examining how gender identities were destabilized within contemporary society. Faiqa Mansab’s This House of Clay and Water was analyzed through a textual approach. Selected data were extracted from significant passages of the novel and examined to understand the representation of gender identities. The study found that patriarchal structures and questions of empowerment were major factors contributing to gender inequality and identity destabilization. Its significance lay in reassessing existing boundaries and perceptions of gender in society. The research evaluated imbalances in gender relations and the instability of gender identities while also examining the portrayal of women by self-proclaimed feminists as a critical issue. It further investigated the relationship between identity and individual action and argued that social limitations imposed on identity shaped identity-based inequalities. Situated within post-feminist literary discourse, the study concluded that individuals across gender positions participated in sustaining the gender gap, affecting the lives and experiences of all genders.
