Abstract

The rapid development of information technology in Indonesia requires teenagers to have strong digital literacy to use technology wisely and productively. Adequate digital literacy will help adolescents access information critically, maintain privacy, and participate actively and safely in the digital world. This research method uses interviews and surveys to collect data from the high school student population in Central Java, enabling researchers to obtain in-depth insights into students' views and experiences. The sample taken in Banjarnegara Regency will provide a representative picture that helps researchers analyze trends and patterns among high school students in the region. The study results showed that the habit of reading has not been formed in children from an early age, so they tend not to enjoy reading. Another thing that encourages children is that the lack of reading habits at home and the surrounding environment makes children less interested in books and unaware of the benefits and pleasures that can be obtained from reading. Students prefer to read in a supportive environment, such as a home with many books and parents who regularly read stories. The interview results show several ways to attract and motivate to increase reading interest, including integrating literacy into the school curriculum, teaching children how to search for information online, organizing extracurricular literacy activities, and teaching children how to organize and manage information. Good material that meets students' needs will help develop an interest in reading and writing and strengthen the ability to analyze and understand the text as a whole; literacy is at the forefront of society's efforts to tackle fake news. The literacy culture still needs to be developed. Therefore, cooperation from all parties, including the government, schools, and the community, is required to raise awareness of the importance of reading and increase access to literary sources.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of cognitive therapy in reducing anxiety of sailor's wives and its impact on their involvement in children's education. Anxiety due to separation from husband can hinder the mother's role in supporting the child's learning process at home. Using a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test, this study involved 100 sailor's wives who were divided into experimental and control groups. Cognitive therapy interventions included identification of negative thought patterns, cognitive restructuring, and relaxation techniques for four weeks. The results showed that cognitive therapy significantly reduced anxiety (p < 0.01), with anxiety scores in the experimental group decreasing from severe to mild. This decrease in anxiety increased the mother's role in children's education, such as assisting in learning, building more positive communication, and creating a home environment that is conducive to children's academic and emotional development. In conclusion, cognitive therapy not only helps overcome anxiety of sailor's wives but also strengthens their role in children's education. Therefore, this approach can be integrated into psychological support programs for sailor's families.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Library-Assisted Instruction (LAI) that integrates subject-related reading through collaborative teaching between classroom teachers and teacher-librarians, utilizing both classroom and school libraries. A quasi-experimental design was implemented with 44 second-grade students from an elementary school in Batu City, East Java, Indonesia, divided into an experimental group (n = 22) and a control group (n = 22). The intervention was based on eight learning themes from the integrated curriculum textbook “My Daily Task,” delivered over 560 minutes across eight sessions. The experimental group received LAI while the control group followed conventional instruction. Reading ability and reading attitude were measured using adapted Korean instruments suitable for the Indonesian context. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26 with a significance level of α = .05. Results showed a statistically significant improvement in reading ability (t = 6.26, p < .001) and reading attitude (F = 28.180, p < .001) in the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings confirm that LAI with subject-linked reading enhances both reading competence and affective engagement in early elementary education.

Abstract

This study investigated the effects of a 12-week explicit metacognitive listening intervention on self-regulated learning (SRL), foreign language enjoyment (FLE), and radiotelephony listening performance among 100 second-year aviation cadets at Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic, Indonesia. Using a one-group pre-test/post-test quasi-experimental design, the intervention was fully integrated into the regular Aviation English curriculum and employed authentic radiotelephony materials (LiveATC.net recordings and Mayday simulations) following Vandergrift and Goh’s (2021) pedagogical cycle. Data were collected before and after the intervention via the Metacognitive Awareness Listening Questionnaire (MALQ), Self-Regulated Online Learning Questionnaire–Short Form, a short-form FLE scale, and an ICAO-aligned 30-item listening test. Paired-samples t-tests revealed significant improvements (all ps < .001) with medium-to-large effects on SRL (d = 0.68), large effects on listening performance (d = 0.87), and very large effects on FLE (d = 1.84). The findings provide the first empirical evidence that process-oriented metacognitive instruction can simultaneously enhance cognitive, behavioral, and affective outcomes in safety-critical aviation English contexts and offer direct, low-cost support for ICAO’s latest training recommendations.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the foster guardian model in strengthening Pancasila character values, esprit de corps, and identity among cadets of the Correctional Sciences Polytechnic (Poltekip) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Using a qualitative descriptive design with a case-study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving cadets, foster guardians, and instructors. The analysis employed triangulation to ensure the credibility and validity of findings. The results show that the foster guardian model contributes positively to the internalization of Pancasila values by promoting discipline, responsibility, and personalized mentoring. However, its implementation is constrained by the limited number of mentors, the absence of a standardized mentoring curriculum, and inadequate supporting facilities, particularly the lack of dormitories that hinder continuous supervision. The study also found that esprit de corps develops more strongly in structured and communal environments, while family involvement in character formation remains limited. To address these challenges, strategies such as strengthening alumni participation, enhancing the mentoring capacity of lecturers, and adopting a community-based cultural approach are recommended. In conclusion, effective character development for Poltekip cadets requires synergy between institutional systems, competent mentors, and a supportive social environment. The findings highlight the need for a more integrative and sustainable foster guardian model to optimize the internalization of Pancasila values and cadet identity formation.

Abstract

The urgency of this research arises from the challenges of teaching abstract concepts in science, such as the human digestive system, which often results in shallow understanding and low student motivation due to conventional 2D representations. This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating Virtual Reality (VR) literacy in Project-Based Learning (PjBL) scenarios to significantly improve students' learning enthusiasm compared to conventional e-module-based PjBL This study uses a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Pre-Test-Post-Test Control Group Design and is framed within the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. The dependent variable, learning enthusiasm, is measured using a validated scale based on the Vallerand Dualistic Model. Data are analyzed using a Two-Way Factorial Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), including assumption testing and Effect Size calculation. The results show a significant mean difference in learning enthusiasm between the experimental group (VR-PjBL) and the control group (E-module-PjBL). These findings clearly demonstrate that VR literacy, when combined with PjBL, provides an immersive, personalized, and experience-based environment that acts as a powerful catalyst for intrinsic motivation and sustained enthusiasm for science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of the Edutren application to enhance student evaluation activities, emphasizing the significant impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on educational management. A qualitative approach of an exploratory case study type was utilized, with data collection employing triangulation techniques. In the interviews, an in-depth interview model by Bingham (2023) was adopted, with five stages of data analysis. Purposive sampling was employed to select participants, with 13 individuals, including principals, teachers, dormitory guardians, education personnel, students, and student guardians, participating in the study. The result shows that: (1) the utilization of Edutren can be categorized into three distinct stages. The first stage involves data entry, conducted by the owner of the Middle Account (MA). The second stage encompasses data processing, which is executed by Edutren's automation features and is subject to the contractual agreement between the school principal and the MA. The final stage involves displaying various data. (2) The findings indicated that Edutren has been effective in enhancing the efficacy of student evaluation activities. This is because it provides an accurate, sustainable evaluation system that fosters collaboration between schools and student guardians, is data-driven, and delivers real-time student progress reports daily. This facilitates the subsequent design of follow-up decisions by the school and guardians. This is a new key to the future of education technology. Three points to improve school management outcomes are recommended.
