Abstract

Among the four methods of teaching reading for beginners apparently the syntetic analytic structural (SAS) method is the most effective and efficient one. The students' textbook, especially for the first graders at the first quart semester, should primarily focuss on the introduction of alphabets without inhibiting the accuracy and speed of beginning reading. These facts are concluded based on the result of the analysis of data collected from the samples of 8 primary schools (4 in the urban and the other 4 in the rural areas) comprising 160 first graders. The technic of analysis employed was two-way ANOVA.

Abstract

This study attempted to know the ability of primary school teachers in applying the characteristics of mathematical operations for solving mathematics problems, and the teachers' ability in constructing mathematics problems, in which the characteristics of mathematics operations were properly taken into consideration. The study was carried out in a correlation-descriptive survey design. Four, five, and six teachers of 12 out of 50 primary schools in Kecamatan Sukarami, Kotamadya Palembang were recruited as the subjects of the study. Data were collected by using two written test batteries; one test was about the teachers' ability in solving mathematics problems, the other was on the teachers' ability in constructing mathematics problems. Results of data analysis revealed that the abilities of primary school teachers of Kecamatan Sukarami, Kotamadya Palembang were low in applying mathematical operation characteristics for solving mathematical problems in which the characteristics of mathematics operations were adequately taken into consideration. A significant correlation was also obtained for the two abilities of the teachers

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine correlations between cognitive entry behavior and attitude toward mathematics and science (MIPA), and achievement in mathematics and science. The population of the study was the students of MIPA FKIP-UNSRI. There were 140 subjects sample chosen from the population. The Pearson's Product Moment and Multiple Correlation were applied to analyze the data. The results showed that: there was correlation between cognitive entry behavior and achievement in mathematics and science; there was correlation between attitude toward mathematics and science, and achievement in mathematics and science; achievement in mathematics and science can be predicted from cognitive entry behavior and attitude toward mathematics and science.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi para dosen terhadap perilaku kepemimpinan ketua jurusan mereka, perbedaan persepsi berdasarkan stratifikasi kepangkatan/jabatan fungsional dan hubungan persepsi mereka terhadap perilaku kepemimpinan ketua jurusan dengan sikap profesional para dosen tersebut. Sebanyak 140 orang sampel rambang berstrata diambil dari populasi dosen IKIP MALANG. Data dikumpulkan dengan LBDQ dan angket sikap. Ditemukan bahwa para dosen mempersepsikan perilaku kepemimpinan ketua jurusan sebagai efektif, tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara stratifikasi kepangkatan dan golongan dengan sikap profesional para dosen

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the students' as well as the teachers' perception of the instructional aspects of TPI in view of the teaching learning process at the SMP in East Jawa. Other variables under investigation were the utilization of the instructional aspect of this broadcast and the contraint encountered. It is shown from the result of data analysis that the broadcasting of TPI enhance the student' motivation through the time for watching it should be reviewed.

Abstract

The problem raised in this research was the capability of PGSD students in writing formal letter. Data were collected by a test. In this case, the students were asked to write a formal letter in 90 minutes. The lenght of the letter was not limited. The analyses of the data were based on formal letter requirements. Population of this research was students of PGSD of FKIP Universitas Sriwijaya. They were 124 students, and only 30 of them taken were as a sample. The results of this research show thatstudent's capability in writing formal letter falls into four categories: (a) good category 3,33%; (b) fair category 56,66%; (c) bad category 36,66%; and (d) worse category 3,33%. It is suggested that the lecturers give more exercises especially in formal letters, sntence arrangement, using puctuation, and paragraph arrangement

Abstract

Beginning 1996, trainings for Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Economics teachers (and again in 1998) were conducted to help them integrate river as learning resources into their subject matter. Students from 29 SMUs along the Brantas River are brought to the river to learn to check the quality of water chemically and biologically, and to measure some physical conditions of the water. The economical use of the river were also observed and discussed. It is expected that the students will be aware of the quality of water and of the value of water resources. Competitions have been conducted to increase students' enthusiasms in studying the river and its environment. As a result of these activities, a network of schools around the river has been initiated which was called the Communication Network of Schools doing the checking of the Water Quality.

Abstract

It is claimed that some variables, such as parents' encouragement, apprenticeship, work motivation, entrepreneurial information, and entrepreneurial knowledge enhance the student' interest in entrepreneurship, the first variable, espesially, plays a very strategic role in increasing the interest of the students. The samples comprises 601 students of general and vocational secondary school, 93 parents, and 22 entrepreneurs in Ujung Pandang. The sampling technique employed is proportional random sampling and purposive sampling.

Abstract

This is the first of a follow up study that aims to obtain a model of teaching-learning activities for the poor families in the rural areas, poor in the sense of economy, education, religion, health, and environment. In order to enhance the people's knowledge all learning resources were coordinated, be they from government bodies as well as from private ones. Especially, this tudy (the first) concerns the concepts of teaching-learning activities, the approaches implemented in the models, the problems encountered, the learning potentials of the poor rural people, the priorities, the programs, and the learning strategies.
