Abstract

This research investigates the integration of individual counseling services powered by deep learning technologies to augment students’ emotional intelligence within the unique environment of an Islamic boarding school. Specifically situated at Al Fityan Islamic Boarding School, the study engages seventh-grade participants by aligning modern technological counseling interventions with traditional Islamic character education, focusing on the core principles of akhlaq and adab. A quasi-experimental design was employed, consisting of an experimental group receiving deep learning–based individual counseling services and a control group receiving conventional counseling. Data were collected using the Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS), structured observations, deep learning system logs, and semi-structured interviews with Islamic school counselors. Quantitative data were analyzed using independent sample t-tests and ANOVA, while the deep learning model performance was evaluated through precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Qualitative data were analyzed using thematic analysis to capture counselors’ experiences in integrating technology with Islamic counseling principles. The results indicate a statistically significant improvement in students’ emotional intelligence in the experimental group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). The deep learning model achieved an accuracy rate of 75–80%, and the counseling chatbot attained a user satisfaction level of 82%. These findings demonstrate that deep learning–based individual counseling services are effective in strengthening students’ emotional intelligence while supporting Islamic values and enhancing the efficiency of counselors’ roles in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The digital transformation of guidance and counseling services requires accessible and responsive communication channels to address students’ social and psychological concerns. This study examines the effect of implementing a digital complaint system within guidance and counseling management on the social attitudes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 01 Kepahiang. A quantitative approach with an ex-post facto design was employed. The participants comprised 69 seventh-grade students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using two Likert-scale questionnaires measuring students’ perceptions of the digital complaint system and their social attitudes. Both instruments underwent validity and reliability testing before data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression after the required assumption tests were fulfilled. The descriptive results showed that the implementation of the digital complaint system was categorized as high, while students’ social attitudes were predominantly in the medium-to-high category. Regression analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between the digital complaint system and students’ social attitudes (R = 0.672, R² = 0.452, p < .001). The coefficient of determination indicates that the digital complaint system statistically explained 45.2% of the variance in students’ social attitudes, while the remaining 54.8% was associated with other factors. These findings indicate that digital complaint systems can function beyond administrative reporting by supporting student help-seeking, early identification of social problems, and timely counseling interventions. Integrating digital complaint mechanisms into guidance and counseling management can therefore strengthen preventive and responsive services and support the development of students’ positive social attitudes.

Abstract

The increasing pressure of academic life, future uncertainty, and the rise of religious exclusivism among students necessitate a counseling approach that integrates spiritual values with psychological resilience. In this context, religious moderation-based counseling offers a potential framework for strengthening students' spiritual well-being while fostering an inclusive and harmonious campus environment. This study aims to explore the implementation and impact of religious moderation-based counseling on the spiritual well-being of students at the Institut Attanwir Bojonegoro. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, data were collected through in-depth intervidc vcdgy6rgc3ews with five key informants consisting of lecturers, students, and university leadership, participant observation of weekly halaqoh sessions, and relevant documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that moderation-based counseling, implemented through an inclusive curriculum, reflective activities, and humanistic dialogue, facilitates both cognitive and affective transformation among students. Students gradually shifted from rigid religious schemas toward a more adaptive, tolerant, balanced, and peaceful spiritual identity. This process contributed to reducing existential anxiety, strengthening emotional stability, and enhancing social harmony within the campus ecosystem. Religious moderation therefore serves as a robust foundation for spiritual well-being by providing students with cognitive filters and emotional resources to navigate religious diversity and the complexities of a pluralistic society. This study recommends the formal integration of moderate religious values into university counseling services as a strategic approach to strengthening students' spiritual resilience, psychological well-being, and harmonious social engagement.

Abstract

This research investigates the intricate political psychological mechanisms underpinning the enduring resilience of transnational ideologies through the Metamorfoshow event, a sophisticated mutation of modern activism within the Indonesian landscape. The study dissects how systematically orchestrated aesthetic stimuli, ranging from immersive visual displays to curated acoustics and strategic social environments, trigger profound cognitive shifts among young audiences. By camouflaging ideological narratives within contemporary pop culture formats, the movement effectively bypasses traditional resistance to political indoctrination. Utilizing an explanatory qualitative approach framed by Social Identity Theory (SIT) and the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), this study evaluates subtle persuasion processes operating beneath the radar of rational consciousness. Data gathered through rigorous netnography and psychological observation reveal a pervasive quest for self-significance offered by the movement. Findings demonstrate that this metamorphosis strategy functions by lowering cognitive vigilance, inducing a state of cognitive closure via peripheral routes. Through evocative symbols and emotional branding, the movement builds deep-seated proximity before core doctrines are injected. Ultimately, high emotional engagement fosters a potent collective belonging, shifting loyalties from national identity toward a transnational identity perceived as more sublime and spiritually transcendent.

Abstract

This research addresses the critical challenge of adolescent substance abuse by developing and evaluating an Islamic-based group guidance and counseling model. Utilizing a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, the study focuses on students at an Islamic senior secondary school in Indonesia to bridge the gap between conventional counseling and faith-integrated interventions. The developed model incorporates twelve core components including rationale, Islamic-based materials, and structured implementation stages grounded in the principles of taqwa (moral consciousness) and tazkiyatun nafs (self-purification). The intervention was tested using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design involving eleventh-grade students. Quantitative analysis revealed a significant transformative impact; baseline self-prevention levels rose from an initial average of 63.9% to 84.2% following the intervention, representing a robust 20.3% increase. Statistical validation through a paired t-test confirmed the model’s effectiveness with a value of 10.912 (p < .001). The findings suggest that integrating Quranic values and ethical reflection into group dynamics creates a moral shield, fostering internalized self-regulation and spiritual resilience against negative peer influences. This research provides a scientifically validated and spiritually responsive framework for school counselors to effectively prevent narcotics, psychotropic, and addictive substances abuse.

Abstract

This scholarly inquiry explores the profound metamorphic effects of empowerment oriented digital professional development on the instructional capacities of early childhood practitioners at TK Kencana Surabaya, with a specialized emphasis on utilizing the Marbel application to counteract post pandemic literacy deficits. Utilizing a sophisticated quantitative pre experimental framework featuring a one group pretest posttest methodology, the investigation examined a census population of 12 educators whose developmental progress was monitored through rigorous systematic evaluation. The empirical results reveal a profound shift in teacher performance, with mean competency scores escalating significantly from a baseline of 56.7 to a proficient 82.3 post intervention. This significant improvement stems from strengthening teacher empowerment in areas like professional confidence and autonomy, which eliminated technology fears and increased teaching flexibility. The study also found a clear link between empowered teachers and better student engagement, seen in a 70.8% faster letter recognition and a 69.2% increase in focus among young children. By matching digital tools with Piagetian learning stages, the research proved that teachers are the most important factor in using technology effectively. Ultimately, the results show that focusing on teacher readiness and skills rather than just buying equipment creates a better digital environment that supports both reading skills and the overall psychological growth of the digital generation. This approach ensures that digital integration is not merely a technical upgrade but a holistic advancement in the quality of early childhood guidance and pedagogical excellence.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has increased along with the growing use of social media among university students, including female students living in a student Islamic boarding school environment. FoMO is characterized by feelings of fear, worry, and anxiety when individuals perceive that they are missing out on others’ social experiences, which may negatively affect psychological well-being and academic concentration. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of group counseling using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques in reducing FoMO behavior among Among Female University Students in Islamic Boarding Environments of Institut Attanwir Bojonegoro. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one group pretest–posttest design. The research participants consisted of eight female students selected through purposive sampling based on a high level of FoMO. The instrument used was a FoMO behavior scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the nonparametric Mann–Whitney U Test. The results indicated a significant decrease in FoMO behavior after the implementation of group counseling with CBT techniques. The significance value (sig. 2-tailed) of 0.001 (< 0.05) demonstrated a meaningful difference between pretest and posttest scores. These findings suggest that CBT-based group counseling is effective in helping female students modify irrational thoughts, reduce social anxiety, and improve self-control related to social media use. Therefore, group counseling with CBT techniques can be considered an applicable psychological intervention to reduce FoMO behavior in student Islamic boarding school settings in the digital era.

Abstract

School education plays a vital role in enhancing human quality of life. However, schools also face significant issues, such as bullying. Bullying can be defined as the use of power to hurt an individual or group verbally, physically, or psychologically, leaving the victim feeling distressed, traumatized, and powerless. One contributing factor to bullying behavior among students is a lack of empathy toward their peers. Empathy is the ability to sense another person's emotional state, feel sympathy, attempt to solve problems, and see situations from others' perspectives. Students who engage in bullying often exhibit low levels of empathy. This study aims to examine the relationship between the level of empathy and bullying behavior in junior high school using a descriptive quantitative method. Data analysis was conducted using Spearman’s Rank Correlation. The results indicate that empathy significantly influences bullying behavior, with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a correlation coefficient of r = -0.464. This finding suggests that higher levels of empathy among students are associated with lower incidences of bullying behavior. Empathy serves as a fundamental and essential basis for building relationships, connections, and positive social interactions. Relationships grounded in high empathy tend to be healthier. By fostering high empathy in students, bullying behavior can be prevented through the cultivation of empathetic attitudes in individuals.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of psychological, spiritual, and social problems in contemporary society has highlighted the need for counseling approaches that address not only psychological symptoms but also individuals' spiritual well-being. One promising approach is tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul), a fundamental concept in Islamic teachings. This study aims to analyze the implementation of tazkiyatun nafs as a method of spiritual guidance in Islamic counseling and to develop a conceptual implementation model. The study employed a qualitative library research approach using documentary analysis of relevant scholarly literature. Data were analyzed through thematic synthesis, including literature identification, coding, theme development, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The findings reveal four major themes. First, tazkiyatun nafs serves as the foundational framework for spiritual guidance by integrating the spiritual, psychological, moral, and social dimensions of Islamic counseling. Second, its implementation follows a systematic process involving the strengthening of tawhid, purification of the heart, muhasabah (self-reflection), repentance, dhikr (remembrance of Allah), Qur'anic recitation, regular worship, and self-discipline over worldly desires. Third, this implementation promotes multidimensional development, including enhanced spirituality, psychological well-being, moral character, emotional regulation, and social adaptability. Fourth, tazkiyatun nafs demonstrates strong relevance in addressing mental health challenges, spiritual crises, moral degradation, and the complexities of the digital era. Based on these findings, this study proposes a conceptual model of tazkiyatun nafs implementation that systematically integrates spiritual foundations, implementation processes, counselee transformation, and counseling outcomes. The proposed model contributes to the advancement of Islamic counseling theory and practice by providing a holistic, integrative, and contextually responsive framework for contemporary counseling services.
