Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ creativity through waste recycling activities into art crafts in Grade V at SD Inpres Boyantongo. This research employs a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 18 students, including 11 boys and 7 girls in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, focusing on the four aspects of creativity proposed by Munandar: innovation, imagination, originality, and elaboration. The results show that students’ creativity is categorized as good, although not yet fully optimal. In terms of innovation, students tended to use easily obtained materials and common techniques, although some had begun to try new patterns and forms. In the aspect of imagination, students were able to modify waste materials into new functional products; however, most creations were made spontaneously without specific themes or meaning, with only one group adding a cheerful theme through playful color combinations. In the originality aspect, students still showed a tendency to imitate others’ works with only slight personal modifications. Meanwhile, in the elaboration aspect, students were able to explain their crafting process in a structured and detailed manner and made adjustments during the work process, although the decorative details still need improvement to make the crafts more appealing. The questionnaire data support the findings from observations and interviews, showing that the majority of students (66.7%) generated ideas by modifying existing reference works, and none produced completely original ideas without any reference. Additionally, 66.7% of students selected materials that were easy to find, while 33.3% tried slightly more challenging materials, yet none used truly unique or uncommon materials. Overall, students’ creativity in transforming waste into art crafts demonstrates good potential, but still requires encouragement, guidance, and broader opportunities for exploration from teachers in order to develop more optimally

Abstract

Low student awareness of the existence, diversity, and importance of plants in daily life—referred to as plant awareness, which includes attention, attitudes, relative interest, and knowledge toward plants—remains a challenge in biology learning, partly due to the limited use of electronic learning media that integrate biodiversity with local wisdom or indigenous knowledge. Traditional medicinal plants from the Museum Pusaka Nias have strong potential as contextual learning resources; however, they have not been optimally developed in electronic form. This study aimed to develop an electronic encyclopedia of Nias traditional medicinal plants for high school biology learning and to examine students' plant awareness after its implementation. The study employed a research and development approach adapted from the Lee & Owens model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. Media feasibility was assessed by media experts, material experts, and biology education practitioners, while implementation used a one-group pretest–posttest design. Plant awareness was measured using a questionnaire adapted from Parsley and analyzed descriptively. The results indicated that the electronic encyclopedia was valid and practical, as evidenced by expert validation and user responses. Descriptive analysis of the pretest and posttest results showed an increase in students’ plant awareness scores from 54.19 to 85.03. These findings suggest that the electronic encyclopedia is feasible as a learning medium and supports the development of students’ plant awareness through contextual, indigenous knowledge–based biology learning. The findings also contribute to theory by enriching the discourse on plant awareness development and by supporting the integration of indigenous knowledge into digital biology learning.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is an effort to meet learning needs by adjusting to the diverse learning readiness, learning profiles, and interests of each student. Differentiated learning is expected to create effective teaching and learning activities, give students the freedom to exercise their right to learn, and facilitate students' learning needs to develop their abilities. The basic elements of differentiated learning include four (4) aspects, namely: 1) learning environment, 2) curriculum, 3) assessment, 4) learning process. These four elements are interrelated. This research model is qualitative research. The research model used in this study is a descriptive model with the aim of describing the elements of differentiation in PGSD student teaching modules. The location of the research is at Muhammadiyah University Malang. The subjects in this study are PGSD students. The instruments used in this study are interview guidelines, observation guidelines, questionnaires, and documentation. The findings show that 56% of students have not applied differentiated elements in the learning tools they have developed. This is due to their minimal knowledge and understanding of differentiated elements. In addition, the impact of rapid curriculum changes has made it difficult for students to digest the various types of elementary school curricula that they will use as guidelines for developing their learning tools.

Abstract

Open educational resources (OER) can provide additional learning materials for distance education students. However, limited research has examined academics’ experiences of using OER in distance teacher education study guides. This study examined academics’ perceptions and experiences of integrating OER into the study guides of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education programme at a university offering open and distance education in Sri Lanka. The study used a survey design with 30 purposively selected academics involved in developing courses for the programme. Data were collected through a questionnaire containing 25 items rated on a five-point scale and three open-ended questions. The responses were analysed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Academics expressed positive views about the benefits of OER (M = 4.11), with 90.0% agreeing that they improve access to learning materials. However, their experiences of integrating OER varied (M = 3.54, SD = 1.05). Only 43.3% agreed that relevant resources were easy to find. Academics also reported challenges in integrating OER (M = 3.96), particularly adapting resources for Sinhala- and Tamil-medium study guides (83.3%) and finding sufficient time (80.0%). Open-ended responses highlighted a lack of local-language resources, insufficient recognition of the workload involved, and the need for practical training and a repository aligned with the curriculum. The findings suggest that academics recognise the benefits of OER but need local-language materials, recognition of the time required, and practical institutional support to integrate them into study guides.

Abstract

Ghana relies on two district-level rankings of disadvantage to guide equity policy: a census-based multidimensional poverty index and a teacher-deployment priority list. Because the deployment flag conditions on classroom overcrowding, the inverse care law predicts the two should diverge, yet policy treats them as interchangeable. This study examined whether the two rankings identify the same districts. This descriptive ecological cross-sectional study linked the 2021 Census multidimensional poverty statistics to the 2026 Teachers for All: Ghana classification across all 261 districts and 16 regions, applying Welch's t test, two one-sided tests of equivalence against pre-specified margins of 10.0 and 4.8 percentage points, cross-tabulation, and correlation analysis. Flagged and unflagged districts differ in mean poverty by 1.1 percentage points, statistically equivalent to zero (equivalence p = .038). The empirical area under the receiver operating characteristic curve is .53, and a poverty ranking recovers 10 of 53 flagged districts against 10.8 by chance. The regional correlation is near zero (r = −.06), though within flagged districts poverty tracks overcrowding severity (r = .42). Equity-oriented targeting therefore requires a two-dimensional logic, and Ghana's priority criterion should be extended to capture high-poverty rural districts whose classrooms are not overcrowded.

Abstract

Transformative Teacher Professional Education (PPG) requires an assessment system that not only produces scores, but is also able to map competency achievements, identify risks, and provide data-driven follow-up recommendations. This research aims to develop  an artificial intelligence-based assessment analytics model  to support the monitoring of academic development and intervention of PPG UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta students. The research uses a Research and Development approach with the ADDIE model which includes the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate stages. Data was obtained through needs analysis, document review, interviews, observations, expert validation, system tests, user questionnaires, and assessment data in the form of tryout results and reflective essay responses. The results of the analysis showed that 91.6% of students needed automatic learning recommendations and 94.1% needed individual competency weakness mapping. The product developed is a web-based platform that contains a tryout dashboard, reflective essay analysis, risk mapping, essay forms, an administration panel, data filtering, and report export. The results of expert validation obtained an average score of 4.94 with the very feasible category, while the implementation results obtained an average score of 4.91 with the very feasible category. This model is considered very practical, operationally effective, and beneficial for supervisors and PPG managers. These findings suggest that AI-based assessment analytics have the potential to strengthen diagnostic assessments, achievement monitoring, and data-driven academic interventions, although their impact on graduation improvement still requires longitudinal testing.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in vocational school workshops represents an urgent priority given that students interact directly with high-risk equipment such as grinding machines, yet often demonstrate low compliance with safety protocols. This research aims to identify failure modes on grinding machines in SMKN 1 Jenangan workshop and formulate evidence-based risk control recommendations. A quantitative descriptive approach using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) was employed, involving 10 purposively selected respondents (practical instructors and technicians). The research instrument was validated using Content Validity Index (CVI) by three experts in occupational safety and mechanical engineering. Results identified 15 failure modes with CVI = 1.0 (perfect validity). Risk Priority Number analysis revealed a positive risk distribution: 13 modes fell into low-risk category (RPN ≤ 50), 2 modes into medium-risk category (RPN 50-100) including non-compliance with protective gloves (RPN 58.21) and safety glasses (RPN 50.51), and no modes reached high-risk category (RPN ≥ 100). Critical finding demonstrates that the greatest risks originated from human behavioral factors, specifically non-compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage, rather than machine technical components. Risk control recommendations focus on three pillars: (1) intensifying direct supervision of students, (2) implementing continuous safety education programs with positive reinforcement, and (3) transforming safety culture in the workshop. This research contributes empirical evidence on risk profiles in vocational school workshops and emphasizes the importance of behavior-based interventions rather than technical improvements in enhancing occupational safety in vocational education settings.

Abstract

The advancement of educational technology has led to the development of innovative learning media to improve student engagement and learning outcomes. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of PowerPoint Hyperlink-based interactive learning media for milling machine material. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model, consisting of the Define, Design, and Develop stages. The research subjects were 20 tenth-grade students of the Machining Engineering Department at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Kepanjen. The research instruments included expert validation sheets, questionnaires, pretest-posttest assessments, and documentation. Data were analyzed descriptively, while the effectiveness of the learning media was evaluated using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and N-gain analysis. The results indicated that the learning media achieved a feasibility score of 87.2%, categorized as highly feasible, based on expert evaluations. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Furthermore, the N-gain score of 0.48 was classified as moderate, indicating that the learning media effectively improved students' learning outcomes. Therefore, the PowerPoint Hyperlink-based interactive learning media is feasible and effective as an alternative learning resource for milling machine instruction in vocational high schools.
