Abstract

In the history of the development of the Science of Qiraat, it is known that the writing of this science began as early as the first century. Then, in the following centuries, the writing became more prolific, especially in the fourth and fifth centuries of the Hijrah. This was the golden age of the Science of Qiraat. After that, from the sixth to the eighth centuries, the science of Qiraat experienced stagnation. Amidst the numerous differences in the field of Qiraat, many people were perplexed by this phenomenon. This can be seen from the abundance of books that no longer distinguish between mutawatir and non-mutawatir Qiraat. It was Dūrīng this time that Ibn Mujāhid emerged to calm the community by gathering Qiraat that were truly mutawatir and believed to be valid. The development of the Science of Qiraat in the past cannot be separated from the role of Ibn Mujāhid (245-324 H). He was the first initiator of crystallizing the Qiraat into seven, which eventually became known as the Seven Qiraat. This paper will discuss the role of Ibn Mujāhid in the Science of Qiraat.

Abstract

In the perspective of Ulum al-Hadith, conflicting hadiths must be resolved, either by compromising or by giving preference to find the stronger one in quality. It is assumed that the Prophet Muhammad, as the role model for the Muslim community, would not make statements that contradict each other without explanation. Such a situation could confuse Muslims who are trying to understand and follow his teachings. Therefore, research on these Conflicting Hadiths needs to be conducted, especially concerning the primary sources of Islamic teachings that serve as benchmarks for legal provisions in Islam. If so, the issue worth investigating is: How to resolve Conflicting Hadiths to reach an integrative solution.

Abstract

In 1967, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia formed the Quran Translation Committee, and this activity was completed in 1975 with the production of the Quran and Its Translation. Then, in 1972, the Council for the Organization of Quranic Exegesis was established and completed its Quran and Exegesis in 1984, consisting of 1 (one) volume of the Introduction to the Quran and its Exegesis and 10 (ten) volumes of the Quran and its Exegesis. This is one of the exegesis books collectively written in the modern era of the Islamic world. Considering the reasons for the emergence of this exegesis, both internal and external factors of Islamic thought surrounding the reference exegeses, raises the question of how the Department of Religion’s Quran and its exegesis interpret verses about human freedom. This paper will focus on human freedom related to Free Will and Predestination, and its connection to the concept of faith.

Abstract

In the treasury of Hadith literature from the time of the Companions until today, there are only a few Hadith collections explicitly and clearly stating that they are compilations of authentic Hadiths. Some of them include Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī and Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Ṣaḥīḥ ibn Khuzaymah, Ṣaḥīḥ ibn Ḥibbān, Ṣaḥīḥ ibn Sakan, and Ṣaḥīḥ ibn al-Syarqī. This article will provide information about Ṣaḥīḥ ibn Ḥibbān. This book is considered to have a different model of writing compared to other authentic books. Besides the systematic arrangement, the compiler also sets different criteria for the authenticity of Hadiths, unlike most Hadith scholars.

Abstract

The works of classical Muslim commentators have to some extent provided us with information about the extensive development of knowledge during that era. Hence, their significant works also serve as studies for the present time and yield further works in modern times. Among the exegesis books from the classical era is the book al-Muḥarrar al-Wajīz fī Tafsīr al-Kitāb al-‘Azīz by Ibn ‘Aṭiyah. The emergence of this interpretation occurred during the zenith of Islam, and its author hailed from the Western world, Spain. The issue at hand in this discussion is the approach to interpreting the book of interpretation al-Muḥarrar al-Wajīz fī Tafsīr al-Kitāb al-‘Azīz, and through this study, the profile and characteristics of this book are expected to be delineated, thus revealing its differences and uniqueness compared to other exegesis books.

Abstract

The influence of the Arabic language on non-Arab Muslim communities also implies an influence on the way Muslims worldwide think and behave. This can be seen in the tendency of Muslim communities to associate everything Islamic (in accordance with Islam) with Arab culture. Being a comprehensive Muslim (kaffah) is often expressed by adopting Arab attributes such as wearing traditional clothing, turbans, beards, robes, veils, having Arabic names, listening to desert music, and so on. The Arabic language, which has become the language of the Muslim community, carries gender biases that affect the textualization process of Allah’s words in the form of the Qur’an. This bias is reflected in Arabic grammar, where every noun (isim) in Arabic is assigned a gender (mudzakkar or mu’annats), both literally and metaphorically. Therefore, in-depth studies on the language of the Qur’an from a gender perspective are necessary.

Abstract

The development of knowledge represents the dialectic of social dynamics and knowledge itself, even theology. From there arises various knowledge that later crystallizes into science. One of them is hermeneutics. It is a science that can be simply interpreted as the science of interpretation. This science initially served as a prerequisite for unraveling religious texts that were considered final and sacred. That is why hermeneutics as a science is closely related to the world of theology, specifically the sub-discipline of theology that deals with the methodology and authentication in interpreting the Scriptures in the Christian and Jewish traditions. This paper describes modern hermeneutics from the perspective of understanding, history, and its divisions into methodological, philosophical, and critical hermeneutics.

Abstract

Management is an activity, its implementer is called a manager, and the implementation process is called management. Management encompasses activities to achieve goals, carried out by individuals who contribute their best efforts through actions that have been done previously. This includes knowledge of what they should do, determining how to do it, understanding how they should do it, understanding how to organize and manage the effectiveness of their efforts. Examining the Quran with a management approach, especially in the context of da’wah management and its practice during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), is a top priority in this discussion.
