Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis perubahan suara dari kata-kata pinjaman dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia dalam ranah divisi kamar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tiga teknik, seperti: wawancara, rekaman dan observasi. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa ada 48 kata pinjaman dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia yang digunakan sebagai jargon di Divisi Kamar. Ada 12 kata yang menjalani proses Cluster Reduction, ada 9 kata yang mengalami proses penthesis atau anaptyxis, ada 4 kata mengalami proses vokal atau diphthongization, ada 5 kata yang mengalami proses paragoge dan ada 24 kata yang mengalami proses monpthohngization.Kata Kunci : Perubahan bunyi, kata pinjaman, perubahan fonologis This study aimed at describing the types of the sound changes of the borrowing words from English into Indonesian in Room Division Register. This study, was a descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected by using three techniques, such as: interview, recording and observation. The results of the data analysis show that there were 48 borrowing words from English to Indonesian used as the jargon in Room Division. There were 12 words undergone Cluster Reduction process, there were 9 words undergone penthesis or anaptyxis process, there were 4 words undergone vowel breaking or diphthongization process, there were 5 words undergone paragoge process and there were 24 words undergone monpthohngization process. keyword : sound changes, borrowing words, phonological change

Abstract

This present study aimed at analyzing the frequency of teacher asking questions in EFL classes of grade 11 of SMAN 2 Banjar, describing the types of questioning modifications employed by the teacher, and finding out the reasons for the teacher to modify the questions. The present study was a descriptive-qualitative study with an English teacher as the subject. In collecting data, four kinds of instrument were used, namely, the researcher, video recorder, audio recorder, and observation sheets. The video recorder and observation sheets were used to get data in form of questions and questions modification employed by the teacher. In addition, the audio recorder was used to get data in form of reasons for teacher to modify the questions. The result of this study revealed that the English teacher employed three types of question with difference frequencies of occurrence. They were procedural question (49%), convergent questions (31%), and divergent questions (20%). It was also revealed that the teacher employed seven types of question modification, namely, repeating or rephrasing (27.0%), narrowing by means of clues (11.0%), rephrasing with alternative or “or-choice” (2.5%), wait-time (13.5%), translating the questions into L1 (43.0%), translating the question into English (1.0%), and code mixing (2.0%). In addition, the reason for the teacher to modify the questions was dominantly to help the students understand the question.keyword : English language teaching, questions, question modification

Abstract

Keluhan dan tanggapan siswa masih kurang bervariasi. Sebenarnya ada beberapa jenis dan strategi dinyatakan dan dipilih untuk membuat keluhan dan tanggapan keluhan. Penelitian ini berfokus pada tindak lisan dan tanggapan lisan mengenai keluhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengenali dan mengerti jenis dan strategi pada tindak lisan dan tanggapan lisan yang digunakan siswa sekolah kejuruan dalam membuat keluhan dan menanggapi keluhan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Negeri 1 Sukasada. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang menggunakan teknik elisitasi melalui simulasi percakapan. Siswa diminta untuk mengeluh dan menanggapi keluhan berdasarkan lima situasi berbeda. Data dikategorikan dan dianalisis berdasarkan teori mengenai jenis dan strategi tentang keluhan dan tanggapannya yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa kebanyakan menyatakan jenis keluhan langsung yang bentuknya tertuju pada seseorang yang ada dalam situasi. Lalu, siswa kebanyakan menyatakan jenis penerimaan untuk menanggapi keluhan yang berarti mereka mengkonfirmasi keluhan tersebut. Di sisi lain, siswa kebanyakan memilih penuduhan langsung sebagai strategi tindak lisan dalam keluhan yang berarti mereka secara langsung menyatakan keluhan tersebut. Sementara itu, mereka memilih penjelasan sebagai tanggapan lisan yang digunakan untuk menjelaskan alasan kenapa keluhan tersebut dapat terjadi.Kata Kunci : tindakan keluhan, tindakan ujaran, tindakan respon, kategori, strategi This study intends to examine the locutionary and perlocutionary act categorizations of complaint and to investigate the locutionary and perlocutionary act strategies of complaint. There were 34 students as the subjects and they were asked to complain to their peers by given five different situations. The data were collected by using elicitation technique. The results of this study showed that the students used two categorizations for locutionary acts of complaint; Direct Complaint (187 complaints) and Indirect Complaint (142 complaints). For the perlocutionary act, they used four categorizations namely Acceptance (175 responses), Partial Acceptance (80 responses), Rejection (63 responses), and Disregarding (16 responses). In locutionary act strategies of complaint, the students used eight strategies; Hints (13 complaints), Annoyance (51 complaints), Ill Consequence (6 complaints), Direct Accusation (133 complaints), Indirect Accusation (39 complaints), Modified Blame (26 complaints), Explicit Blame in Person (34 complaints), and Explicit Blame in Condition (31 complaints). They also used nine strategies in responding the complaints. It included IFIDs (73 responses), Explanation or Account (95 responses), Acceptance of Responsibility (45 responses), Expression of Appeal (10 responses), Refusing Responsibility (43 responses), Concern to the Hearer (0 responses), Promise to Forbearance (11 responses), Offer of Repair (38 responses), and Emotional Exclamation (21 responses).keyword : complaint act, locutionary act, perlocutionary act, categorizations, strategies

Abstract

This study aimed at 1) describing inflectional and derivational prefixes and suffixes 2) determining prefixes and suffixes which belong to inflectional morpheme and 3) determining prefixes and suffixes which belong to derivational morpheme . This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The informant sample were chosen based on set criteria and one of the important criteria was the informant must belonged to the original people of Depaha village. The data were collected based on three instruments, namely: researcher as the main instruments, tape recorder and word list. The results of the study show that there are no prefix and three suffixes in Depaha dialect. The suffixes are {-nine}, {-an}and {-nane}. All suffixes were not change the part of speech which means all suffixes belonged to derivational morpheme. There was no indication of prefixes because some words Depaha dialect were influenced by another language. Abstract

Tindakan berjanji merupakan salah satu tindakan komisif yang paling lazim digunakan oleh masyarakat dalam percakapan sehari-hari. Tindakan berjanji merupakan tindak tutur yang berhubungan dengan sesuatu yang mungkin terjadi di masa depan dan komitmen dari pembicara. Tindakan ini selalu digunakan oleh siswa EFL di Indonesia. Janji digunakan untuk menciptakan atau menjaga hubungan sosial antara individu dalam masyarakat. Namun, siswa tidak tahu dan mengerti tentang bentuk dan strategi tindakan berjanji. Permasalahan pada penelitian difokuskan pada lokusi (tindakan verbal) dan perlocutionary (tanggapan). Desain deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dengan subjek penelitian dari siswa EFL. Data dikumpulkan melalui mengamati simulasi permainan peran dan dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan cara mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasikan, dan menyimpulkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa menggunakan bentuk informal sebagai tindakan dan tanggapan verbal berjanji. Siswa paling sering memilih strategi future action sebagai tindakan verbal, sementara, penerimaan (acceptance) paling sering dipilih sebagai tindakan menanggapi janji. Penelitian ini dibatasi melalui permainan peran dibawah lima situasi.Kata Kunci : bentuk, tindakan verbal, menjanjikan, tindakan respon, strategi Promise is one of the most familiar acts of commissives acts used by EFL students in Indonesia. It is used to create or maintain social relationships between the individuals in any society. However, the students did not know and understand about the forms and strategies of promise acts. The problem were focused on the locutionary (verbal acts) and perlocutionary (response acts). The research design was descriptive qualitative and used EFL senior high school students as the subject. The data were collected through observing simulated speech encounter from the role play and they were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that most of the students employed informal forms as their verbal acts and verbal response forms of promise. The students were most frequently chosen future acts strategy as the verbal acts, while acceptance was most frequently chosen as verbal response of promise. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi tipe dan arti dari phrasal verb yang digunakan dalam film yang berjudul “Crazy, Stupid, Love”. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Data dari penelitian ini diambil dengan cara menonton dan mentranskrip percakapan dalam film “Crazy, Stupid, Love”, dan kemudian mengidentifikasi phrasal verb yang terdapat dalam film berdasarkan konteks dalam film. Analisis dari penelitian ini mencakup tiga hal yaitu pengambilan data, data analisis dan penghitungaan data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat 129 phrasal verb dalam film Crazy, Stupid, Love yang dikategorikan kedalam dua tipe yaitu ditemukan 65 kata dikategorikan berjenis instransitive dan 64 kata berjenis transitive (41 seperable dan 23 inseparable). Artinya, kata kerja frase sering digunakan oleh penutur asli dalam percakapan mereka seperti yang dapat dilihat di dalam film berjudul “Crazy, Stupid, Love” dan penting sebagai seorang pelajar untu belajar mengenai kata kerja frase untuk memahami makna bahasa yang digunakan oleh penutur asli.Persentase phrasal verb yang digunakan dalam konteks informal adalah 79.6% sedangkan penggunaan pada konteks formal adalah 20.93 %. Penggunaan phrasal verb dalam konteks formal lebih rendah daripada konteks informal hal ini dikarenakan kebayakan percakapan dilakukan dalam situasi informal. Kata Kunci : film, kata kerja frase, kosa kata. This study aimed at identifying the types and meanings of the phrasal verbs used in the movie entitled “Crazy, Stupid, Love”. This study is descriptive study. The data of this study were collected by watching and transcribing the conversations in movie “Crazy, Stupid, Love”, and then identifying the phrasal verbs existing in the movie according to their contexts. The data analysis consisted of three forms, namely: data collection, data analysis, and calculating the data. The result of this study shows that there are 129 phrasal verbs found in the movie. Those phrasal verbs are 65 intransitive and 64 transitive (41 separable and 20 inseparable).The percentages of the phrasal verbs used in informal contexts are79.6% phrasal verbs and in formal contexts are 20.93 %. It means that, phrasal verbs are often used by native speakers in their conversations as can be seen in the movie entitled “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and it is important as a learner to learn about the phrasal verbs in order to comprehend the meaning of language which is used by the native speakers. Moreover, the percentage of phrasal verbs used in formal context is lower than informal context. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi kesiapan E-learning guru terhadap implementasi E-learning dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di empat sekolah negeri di Singaraja, Bali, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan explanatory sequential design. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah 21 Guru di SMA N 1 Singaraja, SMA N 2 Singaraja, SMA N 3 Singaraja, and SMA N 4 Singaraja. Jumlah sampel dalam peneltitian adalah 20 guru Bahasa Inggri. Pengumpulan data kuantitatif dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner E-learning (ERQ) dan wawancara. Kuesioner tersebut diadaptasi oleh teori kesiapan E-learning dari Akaslan dan Law, data yang diperoleh dialalisis menggunakan SPSS 24.0, dan hasilnya diinterpretasikan dengan menggunakan metode penilaian kesiapan E-learning dari Aydin dan Tasci. Hasil kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kesiapan guru Bahasa Inggris secara keseluruhan adalah 3.99 dari 5.00. Sedangkan, level terendah kesiapan yang diharapkan adalah 3.40. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa guru Bahasa Inggris sudah siap terhadap pengaplikasian E-leaning, namun membutuhkan beberapa penyempurnaan. Dilihat dari hasil sub-komponen kesiapan E-learning guru, skor rata-rata tertinggi yaitu mengenai pengalaman guru terhadap penggunaan teknologi, yakni sebesar 4.50. sedangkan skor rata-rata terendah guru adalah persepsi mereka terhadap kemudahan penggunaan smartphone, yakni sebesar 3.30. Kemudian, wawancara tersebut digunakan untuk mendukung data yang telah diperoleh dari kuesioner.Kata Kunci : E-learning, kesiapan E-learning, kesiapan guru This research aimed to investigate the teachers’ E-learning readiness toward the implementation of E-learning in English subject in public senior high schools. To achieve the air, the researcher used explanatory sequential design. The population were 21 teachers of SMA N 1 Singaraja, SMA N 2 Singaraja, SMA N 3 Singaraja, and SMA N 4 Singaraja. 20 English teachers were selected as the sample to gain quantitative data of this research. The data collection was gained quantitatively through E-learning readiness questionnaire (ERQ) and qualitatively through interview. The questionnaire was adapted from the E-learning readiness theory proposed by Akaslan and Law, the data gained was analyzed by using SPSS 24.0, and the result of the data analysis was interpreted by using E-learning readiness assessment model by Aydin and Tasci. The result of the questionnaire shows that the grand mean score of the English teachers’ readiness is 3.99 out of 5.00. Whereas, the expected level of readiness (Mo) is 3.40. It implies that the English teachers are ready, but need few improvements in the E-learning implementation. Seen from the sub-components of the teachers’ E-learning readiness, the highest mean score of the teachers is about the experience toward the use of technology (4.50). Meanwhile, the lowest mean score of the teachers is on the perceived ease of use of the smartphone (3.30). Abstract

Masalah penelitian ini berfokus pada jenis kalimat dan strategi dari tindak lokusi dan perlokusi dari tindak penawaran (offering acts. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa sekolah menengah atas. Process pengambilan data menggunakan metode observasi dengan mengobservasi kegiatan percakapan yang dilakukan siswa pda lima situasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif melalui proses mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasi, dan penyampaian kesimpulan. Ditemukan bahwa dalam membuat tawaran sebagian besar siswa menggunakan kalimat tanya. Sementara dalam menanggapi tawaran, kalimat deklaratif yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa. Strategi terpopuler yang digunakan oleh siswa dalam membuat penawaran adalah suggestory formula dan diikuti oleh question desire. Dalam menerima penawaran, strategi menyetujui adalah strategi yang paling banyak digunakan. Sementara itu, dalam menolak tawaran dianalisis dengan membagi respon menjadi segmen yang lebih kecil dan menemukan bahwa strategi non-permformative, strategi menyatakan alasan/penjelasan, dan strategi mengungkapkan syukur / apresiasi adalah strategi umum yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa dalam penelitian ini.Kata Kunci : tindak lokusi, tindak perlokusi, bentuk, strategi, penawaran. The problems were focused on the locutionary and perlocutionary act of sentence types (forms) and strategies of offering acts among foreign language students. The research subjects were the senior high school students. The data collection method is observation method by observing the simulated speech encounter. Then, the data were analyzed descriptively through identifying, classifying, and drawing conclusion. From the collected data, it was found that most of the students used the interrogative sentence when they were making an offer. While in responding to offer, the students frequently constructed declarative sentences. The popular strategy that was chosen by students in making offer was suggestory formula and it was followed by question desire. In accepting an offer, the agreeing strategy was the most strategy implemented by students. Besides, refusing offer was analyzed by dividing the responses into smaller segments and the researcher discovered non-performative strategy, state excuse, reason, explanation strategy, and state gratitude/appreciation strategy were as the common collaboration strategies that were used by the students in this study.keyword : locutinary acts, perlocutionary acts, forms, strategy, offer.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskrisikan jenis kalimat dan strategi tindak tutur permintaan lokusi dan perlokusi dari tindak tutur permintaan (request acts) diantara siswa pelajar bahasa inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas di kelas bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan mengobservasi simulasi percakapan yang dilakukan siswa melalui bermain peran dengan lima situasi sosial yang berbeda. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dideskripsikan dengan cara identifikasi, pengelompokan, dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih sering menggunakan kalimat pertanyaan untuk menyatakan permintaan daripada kalimat pernyataan dan perintah. Namun, siswa lebih sering menggunakan kalimat pernyataan untuk merespon permintaan. Strategi yang lebih dominan digunakan oleh siswa adalah query prepatory dan tidak ada satupun siswa menggunakan mild hint strategi dalam membuat kalimat permintaan. Selanjutnya, strategi tindak tutur permintaan perlokusi lebih didominasi oleh strategi penolakan, khususnya strategi penolakan tidak langsung. Penelitian ini dibatasi oleh simulasi percakapan melalui permainan peran yang mengacu pada lima situasi. The subjects of this study were senior high school students in EFL class at Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 1 Kuta Utara.The data of this study were collected by observing simulated speech role play encounters under five different social situations.The collected data were analyzed descriptively through identifying and classifying locutionary acts, perlocutionary acts and request strategies and drawing a conclusion. The result of this study showed that the students more frequently used interrogative sentences than imperative and declarative sentences in performing a request act. On the other hand, they most frequently used declarative sentences in responding a request. The strategy that was dominantly used by the students was query preparatory and none of them used mild hint strategy in making the request. Finally, perlocutionary request act strategieswere dominated by refusal strategies, especially indirect strategy. This study was limited to the use of simulated role play encounters in five situations.keyword : locutionary acts, perlocutionary acts,sentences types (foms), and strategy.

Abstract

Masalah yang ditemukan di saran siswa adalah kurangnya variasi dalam membuat dan menanggapi saran. Penelitian ini berfokus pada tindak lisan dan tanggapan lisan siswaterhadap saran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menginfestigasi dan mengerti jenis dan strategi saran dan tanggapan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian qualitatif yang menggunakan tehnik elisistasi dalam pengumpulan data saran dan tanggapan siswa melalui simulasi percakapan. Siswa diminta untuk membuat saran dan member tanggapan berdasarkan lima situasi berbeda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar saran terdiri dari subjek, objek, dan kata kerja (modal) maka mereka lebih memilih conventionalized form. Dalam membuat tindak lisan, siswa lebih memilih menggunakan modal dan obligation sebagai kata kerja dalam saran. Dalam menanggapi saran, kebanyakan siswa menerima saran. Siswa lebih banyak menggunakan pernyataan persetujuan. Sedangkan, beberapa siswa menolak secara tidak langsung and member alsan untuk menolak saran. Kata Kunci : tindak saran, tindak lisan, tindak tanggapan The problem found in students’ suggestions and responses still less varied. This research focused on the students’ verbal acts and verbal responses of suggestion. The research objectives were to identify and understand the suggestion types and strategies of verbal acts and responses. This research was descriptive qualitative research that used elicitation technique to collect the students’ suggestions and responses through simulated speech encounter. The students were asked to make suggestions and give responses based on five different situations. The findings showed that mostly the suggestions contained subject, object and action verb (modal) and they prefer to choose conventionalized form. The Modal and Obligation was mostly chosen by the students as action verbs of verbal acts strategy. In responding, most of the students were accepting the suggestion. Most of the students used statements of agreement, in confirming the agreement. Whereas, some of the students indirectly refused and they gave reasons to refuse the suggestion.keyword : suggestion acts, verbal acts, verbal responses
