Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi tambaha membaca berbasis budaya dimana subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Laboratorium Undiksha Singaraja. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi potensi dan masalah dalam membaca yang dihadapi oleh siswa, mendeskripsikan materi membaca berbasis budaya untuk siswa, dan menganalisis kualitas materi membaca berbasis budaya untuk siswa yang dikembangkan. Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model Penelitian dan Pengembangan yang diadaptasi dari model oleh Sugiyono (2011) dan berdasarkan kriteria materi membaca yang baik oleh Tomlinson (1998). Deskripsi materi membaca berbasis budaya untuk siswa kelas delapan Sekolah Menengah Pertama dijabarkan ke dalam empat aspek: konstruksi, isi, penggunaan bahasa, penampilan, dan kegiatan membaca. Uji validitas dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan prototipe yang dievaluasi berkualitas sangat baik dengan skor rata-rata 4,58. Uji kegunaan menunjukkan bahwa siswa berlaku sangat baik dan aktif dalam implementasi materi tambahan membaca berbasis budaya. Kata Kunci : materi membaca, budaya, penelitian dan pengembangan This Research and Development aimed at identifying the potentials and problems in reading in EFL classes, describing the outlook of a well developed culture-based supplementary reading material, and analyzing the quality of the newly developed culture-based supplementary reading material for the eighth grade students of Junior High School. Following the seven steps suggested in Sugiyono model, This study was based on the result of the preliminary observation which showed that there was a need to develop reading material which contains some cultural aspects in it. This research employed Research and Development model adapted from Sugiyono (2011). The first finding identified topic selection, pictures or illustration and kind of reading activities as the problems in reading and they were used as the consideration in identifying the potentials in developing reading material. A well developed culture-based supplementary reading material can be described from five aspects: construction, content, language use, physical appearance, and reading activities. Finally, the validity was measured from the score given by all experts. The prototype can be categorized as having Excellent quality as indicated by the mean score of 4.58 in which the Sr < 4.485. In addition, the result of observation showed that the students were doing excellent during the implementation of culture-based supplementary reading material.keyword : reading material, culture, Research and Development

Abstract

Knowing students’ problems, especially in reading, is very important to design an appropriate and meaningful learning. From the problem identification, teacher can find the potency of designing and developing material to meet students’ need. Therefore, this study was aimed to identify the potentials and problems toward reading lesson faced by the eighth grade students of Junior High School. This study was based on the result of classroom observation, document study, and also checklists. The identification of potency and problems through classroom observation was done to obtain data on how existing reading material was used in teaching reading on the classroom. There was also document study to evaluate existing reading material and syllabus used for teaching reading. Then, the data from the teacher and students had been gathered by administering checklists. From the result of the study, it can be identified that the problems faced by the eighth grade students of Junior High School in reading dealt with topic selection, pictures or illustration, and reading activities, while the potency was to develop new reading material by using those problems as consideration.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis perubahan bunyi dari kata-kata pinjaman dari Bahasa Inggris ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia dalam ranah restoran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Dalam penelitian ini, ada 5 informan yang dipilih, satu sebagai informan utama dan empat lainnya sebagai informan sekunder. Data yang diperoleh dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tiga teknik, yaitu: observasi, wawancara, perekaman. Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa ada 81 kata-kata pinjaman dari Bahasa Inggris ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia dalam ranah restoran, 6 kata mengalami pengurangan klaster, 7 kata mengalami epenthesis atau anaptyxis, 3 kata mengalami patah vocal atau diftongisasi, 11 kata mengalami paragoge, dan 23 kata mengalami monoftongisasi.Kata Kunci : kata pinjaman, perubahan bahasa, perubahan bunyi This study aimed at describing the types of sound change of the borrowing words from English to Indonesian in restaurant register. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. In this study, there were five informants selected, one as the main informant, and four others as the secondary informants. The obtained data were collected by using three techniques, namely: observation, interview, and recording. The results of the data analysis show that there were 81 borrowing words from English into Indonesian in restaurant register, 6 words underwent cluster reduction, 7 words underwent epenthesis or anaptyxis, 3 words underwent vowel breaking or diphthongization, 11 words underwent paragoge, and 23 words underwent monophthongization. keyword : borrowing words, language change, sound change

Abstract

Masalah penelitian ini berfokus pada jenis kalimat dan strategi dari tindak lokusi dan perlokusi dari tindak penawaran (offering acts. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa sekolah menengah atas. Process pengambilan data menggunakan metode observasi dengan mengobservasi kegiatan percakapan yang dilakukan siswa pda lima situasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif melalui proses mengidentifikasi, mengklasifikasi, dan penyampaian kesimpulan. Ditemukan bahwa dalam membuat tawaran sebagian besar siswa menggunakan kalimat tanya. Sementara dalam menanggapi tawaran, kalimat deklaratif yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa. Strategi terpopuler yang digunakan oleh siswa dalam membuat penawaran adalah suggestory formula dan diikuti oleh question desire. Dalam menerima penawaran, strategi menyetujui adalah strategi yang paling banyak digunakan. Sementara itu, dalam menolak tawaran dianalisis dengan membagi respon menjadi segmen yang lebih kecil dan menemukan bahwa strategi non-permformative, strategi menyatakan alasan/penjelasan, dan strategi mengungkapkan syukur / apresiasi adalah strategi umum yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa dalam penelitian ini.Kata Kunci : tindak lokusi, tindak perlokusi, bentuk, strategi, penawaran. The problems were focused on the locutionary and perlocutionary act of sentence types (forms) and strategies of offering acts among foreign language students. The research subjects were the senior high school students. The data collection method is observation method by observing the simulated speech encounter. Then, the data were analyzed descriptively through identifying, classifying, and drawing conclusion. From the collected data, it was found that most of the students used the interrogative sentence when they were making an offer. While in responding to offer, the students frequently constructed declarative sentences. The popular strategy that was chosen by students in making offer was suggestory formula and it was followed by question desire. In accepting an offer, the agreeing strategy was the most strategy implemented by students. Besides, refusing offer was analyzed by dividing the responses into smaller segments and the researcher discovered non-performative strategy, state excuse, reason, explanation strategy, and state gratitude/appreciation strategy were as the common collaboration strategies that were used by the students in this study.keyword : locutinary acts, perlocutionary acts, forms, strategy, offer.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan e-CALF sebagai media pembelajaran mandiri untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris di kelas dua siswa sekolah dasar di SD Lab Undiksha Singaraja. Penelitian dilakukan di SD Lab Undiksha Singaraja, di mana sasaran penelitian adalah siswa sekolah dasar kelas II A. Model pengembangan ADDIE digunakan sebagai prosedur penelitian saat ini. Karena masih berupa produk prototipe, hanya ada tiga prosedur yang digunakan yaitu Analisis, Desain, dan Pengembangan. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan lembar observasi, panduan guru, rubrik penilaian ahli, kuesioner siswa, dan analisis silabus. Pada akhir penelitian ini, ada produk prototipe bernama e-CALF sebagai media pembelajaran mandiri dalam bentuk aplikasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah media permainan digital yang dikembangkan berdasarkan analisis silabus dan kebutuhan siswa. Permainan digital e-CALF dikembangkan berdasarkan empat topik yaitu greetings, introducing, parts of body, dan numbers. Setiap topik terdiri dari enam lembar. Ada dua lembar tentang kosakata yang berhubungan dengan topik, dua lembar tentang mengisi teks kosong, dan sisanya tentang pemahaman teks dengan pertanyaannya Berdasarkan hasil penilaian ahli, ditemukan bahwa permainan digital e-CALF dikategorikan sebagai permainan digital yang sangat baik. Selain itu, game digital ini layak digunakan untuk belajar bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas dua. The study was conducted in SD Lab Undiksha Singaraja, in which the subject of the study was elementary school students of II A class. ADDIE model of development was used as the present research procedures. Since it is still a prototype media, there were only three procedures used namely Analyze, Design, and Development. The data were collected by using observation sheets, teacher’s interview guide, expert judgments rubric, students’ questionnaire, and syllabus analysis. In the end of this research, there was a prototype product named e-CALF as self-directed learning media in form of application. The result of this research is digital game media that were developed based on syllabus analysis and students’ need. The digital game e-CALF is developed based on four topics they were greetings, introducing, parts of body, and numbers. Each topic consists of six sheets. There are two sheets about the vocabulary related with the topic, two sheets about filling the blank text, and the rest about text comprehension with its questions. Based on the result of expert judgment rubrics it is found that digital game e-CALF are categorized as excellent digital game. Besides, this digital game was proper to use for learning English for second grade students. Abstract

Terbatasnya media pembelajaran khusus untuk pelajaran bahasa Inggris serta kurangnya kemampuan guru dalam memaksimalkan penggunaan media menyisakan masalah di sekolah-sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Seririt. Selama ini proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar di Seririt hanya menggunakan flash cards yang terbatas dan penggunaan media lain dalam proses pembelajaran belum dimaksimalkan oleh guru. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut, dipandang perlu untuk mengadakan pelatihan dan pendampingan terkait penggunaan media, seperti misalnya penggunaan buku cerita dalam pengajaran. Pengajaran bahasa Inggris dengan media buku cerita, baik bagi kemampuan bahasa Inggris maupun pendidikan karakter siswa bersangkutan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan yakni, metode pelatihan, diskusi dan pendampingan. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan, dilakukan pula observasi guna mengamati ketekunan, keseriusan, kejujuran, serta tanggung jawab peserta pelatihan. Penilaian dilakukan dengan melihat aspek-aspek sikap peserta yang mencirikan perilaku dan kemampuan peserta. Pada akhir pelatihan, diperoleh hasil bahwa kemampuan membacakan cerita bahasa inggris guru-guru pada saat pelatihan oleh kelompok peserta masuk dalam kriteria Baik. Untuk itu, pendampingan lebih lanjut guna meningkatkan kemampuan guru masih diperlukan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis perubahan suara dari kata-kata pinjaman dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia dalam ranah divisi kamar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tiga teknik, seperti: wawancara, rekaman dan observasi. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa ada 48 kata pinjaman dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia yang digunakan sebagai jargon di Divisi Kamar. Ada 12 kata yang menjalani proses Cluster Reduction, ada 9 kata yang mengalami proses penthesis atau anaptyxis, ada 4 kata mengalami proses vokal atau diphthongization, ada 5 kata yang mengalami proses paragoge dan ada 24 kata yang mengalami proses monpthohngization.Kata Kunci : Perubahan bunyi, kata pinjaman, perubahan fonologis This study aimed at describing the types of the sound changes of the borrowing words from English into Indonesian in Room Division Register. Abstract

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perubahan suara dari kata-kata pinjaman dari bahasa Ingris ke bahasa Indonesia di ranah makanan dan minuman. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Terdapat 5 orang informan dalam penelitian ini, 1 orang informan sebagai informan utama dan 4 orang informan lainnya sebagai informan pendukung. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik interview, perekaman, dan observasi. Hasil dari data analisis menunjukkan jika dari 70 kata pinjaman dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa Indonesia di ranah makanan dan minuman, ada 40 kata yang mengalami proses perubahan suara. 4 kata mengalami menjalani proses apocope, 3 kata menjalani proses cluster reduction, 6 kata menjalani proses epenthesis atau anaptyxis, 4 kata menjalani proses paragoge, 3 kata menjalani proses vowel breaking atau diphthongization, dan 20 kata menjalani proses monophthongization.Kata-kata kunci: perubahan bunyi, kata-kata pinjaman

Abstract

The study aimed at analyzing English teacher perceptions and its implementation of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) of teaching English for young learners and the comparison between teachers perceptions’ and its implementation by English Primary School in Denpasar. This research used mixed method design with a qualitative dominant. The subjects of this research were three teachers from three different schools in Denpasar who taught English for young learners. Convenience sampling techniques was used in selecting subjects and schools. This research used 4 instruments to get the data, namely: the researcher (2) questionnaire of teachers’ perceptions of pedagogical content knowledge, observation sheet to record teachers’ PCK implementation and (4) interview guide. The result showed the average score of teachers’ perceptions was 3.85 which categorized as high with the interval 3.3335 ≤ M ≤ 4.0005. The average score teachers’ implementation was 8.85 which categorized as low with the interval 7.84 ≤ M ≤ 13.06. In addition, the study found discrepancy between teachers’ perceptions and its implementation. Since the perceptions was in a high category and the implementation was in a low category, this comparison falls in a no consistency category. Such discrepancy caused by the lack of teaching preparation, the uninteresting teaching strategy which included few to no media and the monotonous teaching sources. Teacher professional awareness to do Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for English teachers at primary education needs to be reinforced as an effort of quality assurance.
