Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh Prajuru (kepala desa, kepala desa adat, dan delegasi pengantin pria) di prosesi Ngidih pada upacara pernikahan di desa Galungan, (2) mendeskripsikan bentuk strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh Prajuru, (3) menjelaskan motif dari Prajuru dalam menerapkan strategi komunikasi selama prosesi Ngidih dalam upacara pernikahan di desa Galungan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dimana data tersebut dijelaskan secara deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tiga orang yang terlibat dalam prosesi Ngidih dalam upacara pernikahan di desa Galungan. Ditemukan bahwa ada lima macam strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh prajuru, yaitu, turn taking behavior, fillers, questioning, repetition, and paralinguistic behavior. Ada lima puluh sembilan bentuk strategi komunikasi yang ditemukan di tiga prosesi Ngidih dari upacara pernikahan di desa Galungan. Motif mereka dari penggunaan strategi komunikasi adalah untuk menekankan makna, untuk menghindari kesalahpahaman, dan untuk membuat komunikasi berjalan lancar.Kata Kunci : komunikasi, strategi komunikasi, pernikahan This research aimed at (1) describing the kinds of communication strategies used by the Prajuru (the head of the village, the head culture and tradition of the village, and the groom’s delegation) in Ngidih procession of wedding ceremony in Galungan village, (2) describing the forms of communication strategies used by the Prajuru, (3) describing the motives of the Prajuru in applying the communication strategies during Ngidih procession of wedding ceremony in Galungan village. This study was a qualitative study in which the data was described descriptively. The subject of this study was three people who were involved in Ngidih procession of wedding ceremony in Galungan village. It was found that there are five kinds of communication strategies used by the Prajuru, namely, turn taking behavior, fillers, questioning, repetition, and paralinguistic behavior. There are fifty nine forms of communication strategies found in the three Ngidih procession of wedding ceremony in Galungan village. Their motives of the use of communication strategies are to emphasize the meaning, to avoid misunderstanding, to make the communication run smoothly.keyword : communication, communication strategy, wedding

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari teknik perancah terhadap kemampuan siswa untuk menulis teks deskriptif dan untuk menggambarkan komponen mana yang sebagian besar dipengaruhi oleh teknik perancah pada tulisan siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah Post-Test Only Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah delapan siswa kelas VIII Negeri 2 Selat dan sampel penelitiannya dipilih dengan menggunakan Cluster Random Sampling. Sampel terdiri dari 68 siswa. Kelas VIII D ditugaskan sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang diajar dengan menggunakan teknik "Perancah" dan kelas VIII E sebagai kelompok kontrol yang diajar dengan menggunakan "teknik konvensional". Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa dalam kelompok eksperimen lebih baik daripada siswa dalam kelompok kontrol. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil statistik deskriptif yang menunjukkan skor rata-rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 79,71 sedangkan skor rata-rata kelompok kontrol adalah 75,35. Hasil uji t juga menunjukkan bahwa nilai tob lebih tinggi dari pada tcv. Nilai tob adalah 3,098, sedangkan nilai tcv adalah 1,668 (α = 0,5). Artinya ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan siswa antara siswa yang diajar dengan teknik perancah dan mereka yang diajar dengan teknik konvensional. Oleh karena itu hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: teknik perancah, teknik konvensional, kemampuan siswa Abstract This study was aimed at investigating whether or not there was a significant effect of the scaffolding technique on students’ ability to write descriptive text and to describe which of the component writing that mostly affected by the scaffolding technique on students writing. This research design was Post-test Only Control Group Design. The population in this study was eight grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Selat and the samples of study were selected by using Cluster Random Sampling. The samples consisted of 68 students. Class VIII D was assigned as the experimental group which was taught by using “Scaffolding technique” and class VIII E as the control group which was taught by using “conventional technique”. The result of the data analysis showed that students in the experimental group performed better than the students in the control group. It was proven by the result of the descriptive statistics that showed the mean score of the experimental group was 79.71 while the mean score of the control group was 75.35. The result of the t-test also showed that the value of the tob was higher than the tcv. The value of the tob was 3.098, while the value of the tcv was 1.668 (α = 0.5). It means that there was a significant effect on students’ ability between the students who were taught by using scaffolding technique and those who were taught by using the conventional technique. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kategori interaksi kelas yang terjadi di Little Sunshine Learning Center berdasarkan sistem Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT), dan juga kategori ujaran guru dan siswa yang paling sering dan jarang terjadi. Subjek penelitian yaitu 3 orang guru dan 14 orang siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian observasi studi kasus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) hubungan antara perasaan terjadi sebesar 4.3%, memuji atau mendorong terjadi 6.1%, lelucon terjadi 0.4%, menggunakan pendapat siswa terjadi 1%, mengulang respon siswa harafiah terjadi 4%, presentase memberi pertanyaan terjadi 10.3%, presentase memberikan informasi 3.5%, presentase membenarkan tanpa penolakan 1.4%, presentase memberikan arahan terjadi 29.2%, presentase mengkritisi prilaku siswa 1.8%, presentase mengkritisi respon siswa 2.1%, respon siswa-spesifik 10.3%, respon siswa terbuka-tertutup atau inisiasi-siswa 15.4%, keheningan terjadi 0.6%, presentase keheningan-audiovisual (AV) 0.1%, kekacauan berorientasi-kerja yaitu 0.5%, kekacauan tidak berorientasi-kerja 0.4%, gelak tawa yaitu 2.5%, menggunakan bahasa asli yaitu 4.1%, dan presentase non-verbal yaitu 2.5%, (2) kategori ujaran guru yang paling sering terjadi yaitu memberikan arahan, seperti mengarahkan siswa untuk membuat lingkaran dan mengarahkan siswa saat bermain dan saat membuat kerajinan. Sedangkan kategori ujaran siswa yang menjadi kategori yang paling sering terjadi yaitu respon siswa terbuka-tertutup atau inisiasi-siswa; kategori ujaran guru yang paling jarang terjadi yaitu lelucon, sedangkan kategori ujaran siswa yang paling jarang ditemukan yaitu keheningan-audiovisual (AV). Keheningan-audiovisual merupakan keheningan yang terjadi saat guru menyiapkan perangkat audiovisual.Kata Kunci : interaksi, interaksi kelas, sistem Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT), pelajar anak-anak This study aims at finding the classroom interaction categories occurred in Little Sunshine Learning Center based on Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System and also teacher and student talk category which most and least frequently occurred in the learning center. The subjects of the study were 3 teachers and 14 students. This study employed observational case study research design. The result presented that: (1) the percentage of deals with feelings occurred 4.3%, praises or encourages was 6.1%, jokes was 0.4%, uses ideas of students was 1%, repeats student response verbatim occurred 4%, asks questions occurred 10.3%, gives information was 3.5%, corrects without rejection was 1.4%, gives directions was 29.2%, criticizes student behavior was 1.8%, criticizes student response was 2.1%, the percentage of student response-specific was 10.3%, student response open-ended or student-initiated occurred 10.3%, the percentage of silence was 0.6%, silence-audiovisual (AV) was 0.1%, confusion work-oriented was 0.5%, confusion non-work oriented was 0.4%, laughter was 2.5%, the percentage of using the native language was 4.1%, and nonverbal was 2.5%, (2) the teacher talk category that mostly occurred was giving direction like asking the students to make a circle and directing the students in doing the games and craft. Meanwhile the student talk category that became the most frequently occurred was student response, open ended or student initiated; the teacher talk category which least occurred was jokes, while the student talk category which least found was silence-audiovisual (AV) which is the pause or silence that occurred when the teacher prepared the audiovisual media.keyword : interaction, classroom interaction, Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System, young learners

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guide freelance di obyek-obyek wisata di Ubud, (2) alasan mengapa para guide freelance menggunakan strategi komunikasi saat mereka berkomunikasi dengan tamu. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Dornyei tentang klasifikasi dari strategi komunikasi. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah tiga orang guide freelance yang telah diseleksi menggunakan purposive sampling. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 93 ucapan yang bisa di klasifikasikan kedalam strategi komunikasi. Jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guide freelance adalah time gaining strategy, literal translation, circumlocution, language switch, appeal for assistance, approximation dan word coinage. Dalam menggunakan strategi komunikasi, para guide menggunakan strategi komunikasi karena kurangnya pemahaman tentang bahasa inggris dan beberapa dari mereka menggunakan strategi komunikasi karena mereka perlu waktu untuk berfikir karena keterbatasan pengetahuan kosakata. Para guide juga menggunakan strategi komunikasi sebagai strategi untuk menjaga komunikasi.Kata Kunci : Strategi komunikasi, freelance guide This present study was aimed to discover (1) the communication strategy used by freelance guides in Ubud’s tourism object, (2) the reason why the freelance guide used communication strategy when communicating with guest. This study used Dornyei classification of communication strategy. The subjects of this study were three freelance guide which selected by using purposive sampling. The result of this study found that there are 93 utterances that can be classified as communication strategy. The type of communication strategy used freelance guide were time gaining strategy, literal translation, circumlocution, language switch, appeal for assistance, approximation, and word coinage. In using the communication strategy, the guide used communication strategy because of the lack of understanding the language that is English, and some of them using communication strategy because of the need to think since the vocabulary are limited. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki apakah ada atau tidaknya perbedaan yang signifikan dalam prestasi berbicara siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan audiobooks sebagai media pembelajaran dan siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan media yang biasa digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Post-test Only Control Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas delapan SMP Negeri 1 Banjar dan penentuan sampel penelitian menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling. Kelas VIII E terpilih sebagai kelas ekperimen dimana media audiobooks digunakan untuk mengajar speaking dan kelas VIII G terpilih sebagai kelas control dimana teknik menggunakan media biasa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris digunakan. Hasil analis data menunjukan siswa di kelas eksperimen medapatkan hasil yang lebih baik dari pada siswa di kelas kontrol. Hal ini dibuktikan oleh hasil statistik deskriptif yang menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 79.84 sedangkan nilai rata-rata dari kelompok control adalah 76.06. Selain itu, hasil dari uji t-test juga menunjukkan bahwa nilai tob lebih besar dari tcv tersebut. Nilai tob itu 2.187 sedangkan nilai tcv adalah 1.245 (α = 0,05). Ini berarti bahwa terdapat perbedaan prestasi berbicara yang signifikan antara siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan audiobooks sebagai media dan mereka yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran yang biasa. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa media audiobooks dapat meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam berbicara.Kata Kunci : audiobiooks, media pembelajaran biasa, kompetensi dalam berbicara. Abstract

Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang bertujuan untuk menganalisa karakteristik dan faktor yang menyebabkan Bahasa Inggris Pidgin yang digunakan oleh para pedagang di pantai Tulamben. Subyek penelitian ini adalah tujuh pedagang berusia antara 35-45 tahun. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa peneliti sendiri, alat perekam, lemba robservasi, dan daftar wawancara. Data yang terkumpul dianalisa berdasarkan langkah-langkahan alisa yang diajukan oleh Gale, dkk (2013). Analisa karakteristik Bahasa Pidgin di dasarkan pada teoriIsa, Halilu, & Ahmed (2015) dan Holmes (1992). Sedangkan analisa factor penyebab Bahasa Pidgin didasarkan pada teori Richard dan Schmidt (2002 dalam Setiyono, 2012). Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa Bahasa Inggris Pidgin di pantai Tulamben sudah memenuhi criteria untuk bias diangap sebagai Bahasa Pidgin dengan mempertimbangkan fungsi bahasa, struktur bahasa dan ucapan yang digunakan. Sedangkan factor penyebabnya di identifikasi ada tiga faktor, yaitu factor bahasa, ekonomi dan pendidikan. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut maka disarankan kepada Pemda Karangasem untuk menyediakan pendidikan informal kepada para pedagang tersebut untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris mereka menjadi Bahasa Inggris standar. Kata Kunci : pantai Tulamben, pidgin This study was a descriptive qualitative study aimed at analysing the characteristics and factors creating Pidgin English used by sellers in Tulamben Beach. There are seven sellers aged 35 – 45 years old as the subjects of this study. The instruments of this study were the researcher, recorder, observation sheet, and interview guide. The collected data were analyzed based on the steps of data analysis proposed by Gale, et al (2013). The analysis of characteristics of Pidgin is based on the theory proposed by Isa, Halilu, & Ahmed (2015) and Holmes (1992). Meanwhile, the analysis of factors creating Pidgin is based on theory proposed by Richard and Schmidt (2002, in Setiyono, 2012). This study found that Pidgin in Tulamben Beach has fulfilled the criteria of being pidgin which were considered from its language function, structure and pronunciation. There were three factors creating Pidgin in Tulamben, namely language, economic, and educational factors. Related to these findings, it is suggested that the government of Karangasem Regency should provide the sellers informal education in order to improve their English to be Standard English. keyword : pidgin, Tulamben beach

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan pada prestasi berbicara siswa yang diajarkan dengan media “Puppet” dan siswa yang diajarkan dengan konvensional teknik. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP N 3 Banjar. Berdasarkan teknik pengambilan sampel secara acak, 2 kelas diambil sebagai sampel dari penelitian ini. Kelas-kelas tersebut ditentukan sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol berdasarkan undian. Untuk memperoleh data yang diperlukan, dua kelompok tersebut diberikan perlakuan. Kelompok eksperimen diajarkan menggunakan puppet, sedangkan kelompok kontrol diajarkan menggunakan konvensional teknik (Three-phase teknik). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengumpulkan data adalah skenario pembelajaran dan post-test yang berbentuk tes berbicara. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisa secara deskriptif, inferensial dan effect size. Dilihat dari hasil test hypothesis, menunjukan bahwa Sig. (2-tailed) kurang dari standard alpha (α=0.05). Oleh karena itu, null hypothesis ditolak, yang berarti bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan pada prestasi berbicara siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan Puppet dan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan konvensional teknik.Kata Kunci : Prestasi berbicara, Puppet, Konvensional This study aimed at investigating whether or not there was any significant effect on students’ speaking achievement who were taught by “puppet” and those who were taught by conventional technique. The population of this study was the eighth grade students in SMP N 3 Banjar. Through Cluster random sampling, two classes were taken as samples in this study. They were assigned as experimental group and control group by lottery. To obtain the required data, the two groups were given treatments. The experimental group was taught by using puppet as media, meanwhile the control group was taught by using conventional technique (Three-phase technique). The instruments used in this study to collect the data were the teaching scenario and post-test in the form of speaking test. The obtained data were then analyzed descriptively, inferentially and effect size. It was seen from the result of hypothesis testing, showing that the Sig. (2-tailed) was less than the standard alpha (α=0.05), the null hypothesis was rejected, which means there was significant effect on students’ speaking achievement who were taught by puppet and those who were taught by conventional techniquekeyword : Speaking Achievement, Puppet, Conventional

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis jenis kesalahan gramatikal dan untuk mengetahui jenis kesalahan tata bahasa yang sering dilakukan oleh siswa SMP dalam berbicara dala, bahasa Inggris. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan siswa kelas VIII semester dua SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja sebagai populasi dipilih dengan menggunakan cluster random sampling dan terdiri dari 33 siswa, instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah perekam Video. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa melakukan kesalahan dalam omission, addition, misformation, dan misordering. Total kesalahan mencapai 61 kali. Frekuensi error tertinggi adalah omission dimana jumlah persentasenya mencapai 62,30%. Frekuensi error kedua adalah misordering dimana jumlah prosentase mencapai 18,4%. Frekuensi error ketiga adalah addition yaitu 14,75%. Frekuensi error yang terakhir adalah misformation yang memiliki angka rendah 4,91%.Kata Kata Kunci : Kesalahan tata bahasa, Berbicara, The purposes of this study are to analyze the types of grammatical errors and to know the types of grammatical error which are frequently made by the junior high school students in speaking English. This research design in this study was descriptive qualitative design with the eighth grade students in second semester of SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja as the population was chosen by using cluster random sampling and consist of 33 students, the instruments that were used to collect the data ware a video recorder. The result showed that students made error in omission, addition, misinformation, and misordering. The total of errors reaches 61 times. The highest frequency of error is omission which the number of percentage achieves 62.30%. The second frequency of error is misordering which the number of percentage achieves 18,4%. The third frequency of error is addition which is 14,75%. The last frequency of error is misformation which has low number 4,91%.keyword : Grammatical error, Speaking,

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh dari permainan interatif berbasis ICT terhadap motivasi prestasi, prestasi Bahasa Inggris, dan secara simultan terhadap motivasi prestasi dan prestasi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Penelitian eksperimental ini mengambil 228 siswa sekolah dasar sebagai populasi di gugus V kecamatan Sukasada, kabupaten Buleleng tahun akademik 2016/2017, dimana 48 siswa yang melibatkan 24 siswa dari SD Negeri 4 Panji menjadi control group dan 24 siswa dari SD Negeri 2 Panji sebagai experimental group. Mereka dipilih sebagai sampel penelitian melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Data telah dikumpulkan melalui kuisioner motivasi prestasi dan post-test. Data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA satu jalan dan MANOVA dengan SPSS 22.0. hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) siswa yang diajarkan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT memiliki motivasi prestasi yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajarkan dengan teknik konvensional, 2) siswa yang diajarkan permainan interaktif berbasis ICT memiliki prestasi Bahasa Inggris yang lebih baik daripada siswa yang diajarkan dengan teknik konvensional, dan 3) terdapat pengaruh simultan dari permainan interaktif berbasis ICT terhadap motivasi prestasi dan prestasi Bahasa Inggris siswa.Kata Kunci : Motivasi Prestasi, Permainan Interaktif Berbasis ICT, Prestasi Bahasa Inggris This study aimed at investigating the effect of ICT-based interactive game on students’ achievement motivation, English achievement, and simultaneously on students’ achievement motivation and English achievement. This experimental study employed 228 4th grade elementary school students as the population in cluster V of Sukasada district, Buleleng regency in academic year 2016/2017 wherein 48 students involving 24 students from SD Negeri 4 Panji as control group and 24 students from SD 2 Panji as experimental group. They were chosen as the sample through cluster random sampling. The data were collected through achievement motivation questionnaire and post-test. Those data were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA and MANOVA assisted by SPSS 22.0. the findings showed that 1) the students who were taught by ICT-based interactive game achieved better achievement motivation than those who were taught by conventional teaching, 2) students who were taught by ICT-based interactive game achieved better English achievement than those who were taught by conventional teaching, and 3) there was simultaneous effect of ICT-based interactive game on students’ achievement motivation and English achievement.keyword : Achievement Motivation, English Achievement, ICT-based Interactive Game

Abstract

Studi ini membahas realisasi strategi kesopanan yang digunakan oleh pembawa acara dalam talk show Kick Andy. Penting untuk melakukan percakapan yang baik di talk show televisi karena disampaikan ke publik secara langsung. Strategi kesopanan adalah salah satu cara untuk menciptakan percakapan yang baik antara pembawa acara dan tamu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan (1) Strategi kesopanan yang digunakan oleh pembawa acara talk show Kick Andy, (2) Penerapan strategi kesopanan oleh pembawa acara talk show Kick Andy, (3) Motif pembawa acara Kick Andy dalam menggunakan jenis strategi kesantunan tertentu berdasarkan teori Brown dan Levinson (1987). Strategi kesantunan yang digunakan oleh tuan rumah itu botak, sopan santun, dan sopan santun negatif. Pada dasarnya, pembawa acara tidak menggunakan strategi beberapa kali saat ingin memaksimalkan efisiensi dalam percakapan. Kesantunan positif digunakan untuk menjalin hubungan baik dan menunjukkan keramahan. Kesopanan negatif digunakan saat tuan rumah memberi hormat kepada orang yang dialaminya, dan juga untuk melunakkan ungkapannya saat ditanya tentang topik sensitif. Kata Kunci : Strategi kesopanan, talk show This study deals with the realization of politeness strategies Kick Andy talk show. It is important to make a good conversation in television talk show because it is delivered to the public directly. Politeness strategy is one ways to create a good conversation between the host and the guest. This study aimed to describe (1) The strategy of politeness which are used by the host of Kick Andy talk show, (2) The implementation of politeness strategy by the host of Kick Andy talk show, (3) The motives of the host of Kick Andy talk show in using particular types of politeness strategy based on the theory of Brown and Levinson (1987). The politeness strategies used by the host were bald on record, positive politeness, and negative politeness. Basically, the host used bald on record when he wanted to make a maximum efficiency in conversation. Positive politeness was used to make rapport and show friendliness. Negative politeness was used when the host gave deference to his addressee, and also to soften his utterance when he asked about sensitive topics. keyword : Politeness Strategies, Talk Show
