Abstract

Forest product in Indonesia especially in Central Sulawesi has a very important role in the effort of  national and regional development evenly, because it will improve the state income and also provide job opportunity. In case that rattan is the most important nonwood forest product in Indonesia and one of superior commodity of Central Sulawesi. Since seventies, Indonesia has known as the biggest exporter country of rattan raw  material in the world. The aim of the research was to find out the development strategy of rattan industry in Palu City of Central Sulawesi, case study of CV. Bone Layana Jaya. The reasearch was conducted in Bone Layana Jaya Palu Central Suawesi Province, it was from March up to the month of May 2015. The analysis method that used in the resaerch was SWOT analysis with 2 strategy formulas, they were Internal and External (IE) strategies then SWOT matrix could be decided. Based on Grand Matrix  Internal Strategic Factors Analysis Summary (IFAS) was on the point of 3.49 and analysis  External Strategic Factors Analysis Summary (EFAS) was on the point of 3.27, the obtained rate on Matrix SWOT showed the strategy used in the industry more emphasized to WO (Weaknesse-oppurtunities) strategy, it was Government Contribution in Industry Development.  Therefore, in the curve of  Grand Matrix Strategy, the position of  enterprise industry was on quadrant I, it showed that the industry faced the environment that relatively had a bigger opportunity to handle its weakness.Keywords : Sulawesi Forest (Rattan),  Internal/External Strategy, SWOT matrix.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to know the potency and the development of natural tourism objects in Saluki Village, Gumbasa Distric, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. The respondents were selectedby using purposive sampling methods. The study was employedStrengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats (SWOT) analysis. The results showed that the potency of natural tourisms around Maleo (Macrocephalon maleo) habitat were Maleo birds, camping ground, river, Hot water, waterfall, tracking and hiking area, and other objects for science and research development. Hence, the development form of natural tourism in this area was divided in two parts. First, an area used as nesting grounds and activities of Maleo birds. Abstract

Hazelnut plant consisted of several types, including Aleurites moluccanna derived from Malaya Peninsula, Aleuritis fordi derived from China middle and montana grows in subtropical areas and allegedly originated from South China and Indochina Aleurites cordata from Japan to grow on the island near Tokyo. The nature of hazelnut plant species differ from one another Aleurites moluccanna wild plant height can reach 39 m with a trunk diameter of 110 cm. This plant was grown as a crop ever reforestation to cover the sandy hills in Java. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of disease, symptoms of frequency and intensity of the residual disease hazelnut (Aleurites moluccanna Willd) in the village Toaya Sindue District of Donggala Regency. This research was started in May - July 2014 stands hazelnut area in the village Toaya Sindue Donggala District of Central Sulawesi province. Identification of symptoms (symptoms) done by looking at the physical plant changes due to disease, such as the existence of cancer stem on pecan stands. To determine the types of diseases that attack plants used identification method is direct observations in the field. For species not yet known, the sample was taken and subsequently collected in the identification of the agriculture faculty in a Tadulako University laboratory for identification purposes. The results showed that the types of pathogens that attack the disease stands hazelnut (Aleurites moluccanna Willd) at the age of 7 and 10 in the village of Toaya there are 4 types including leaf blight disease, cancer stem, leaf spot diseases and diseases of the stands hazelnut (Aleurites moluccanna Willd ). By the age of 7 years on average was 63.3% and 39.8%, and at age 10 the average was 66.5% and 36.3%. Criteria residual damage hazelnut (Aleurites moluccanna Willd) by the age of 7 and 10 years, including being damaged criteria.Keywords: Identification, Disease, Stands, Pecans.

Abstract

Anoa (Bubalus sp.) is a wildlife species, endemic dan protected in Nature Reserve of Pangi Binangga. The research aim was to identify the vegetation species of anoa aabitat in Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve. The research was used purposive sampling. Analysis of vegetation on anoa habitat showed that 31 species of plants comprising 21 families. In addition, recorded that there were 15 plant species comprising 11 families used as food sources. The key indicator plants at anoa habitat were Ardisia celebica, Castanopsis accuminatisimma, Calamus sp, Dysoxyllum posasiticum, Eurya acuminata, Lithocarpus celebicus, Litsea densiflora, Litsea formanii, Syzigium accuminatisium, Zingiber sp. Index of similarity of the plant species at all levels of growth was similar with the value ranging between 62.00%-88.52% Keywords: anoa, Bubalus sp., habitat, Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve

Abstract

Sub watershed catchment area of Miu river is located at Sigi Regency  that has 70.494,5 hectare width. Part of the watershed become critical land since the community has less understanding and knowledge in land management.   The community use the land just for economic reason that is for fullfill their daily need without think about how to manage the land in right way so that land still in productive condition along time. This research aims are: (a) Knowing pattern of empowering commnunity, (b) Identifiying community group that involved on empowering activities, (c) Knowing accompanying methode on applied empowering community program, (d) Knowing obstacles on applied empowering community activities at upstream of sub watershed catchment area of Miu river. This research used interviewing methode, and as respondence are field facilitators and community.  The research data collecting include primary and secondary datas. The primary data need to answer research aims, while the secondary data need as supporting data analysis. The research result shown that empowering community activity in Winatu village has succed in target reaching, and can give contribution on SCBFWM project persistence. Pattern of empowering community that is given by SCBFWM project are establishment of farming group (CBO) Ulu Miu Pewatua, independency training to the group, contonuous socialization, land rehabilitation, developing agicultural and animal husbandry efforts, and  improvement on structure of farming group institution. The obstacles on empowering commnunity process direct to the non technicalproblems i.e. access problems to the location, activity level of the community and the topography condition of hilly Winatu village.Keywords: empowering community, Miu river, pattern, SCBFWM, watershed catchment.

Abstract

One of the preserve forest in Central Sulawesi is a preserve forest kebun kopi located in the Nupabomba Village, Tanantovea, Donggala District with area 1591,1 ha. This study aims to estimate soil carbon stocks at different levels of canopy density in the preserve forest, Kebun Kopi, Nupabomba Village, Tanantovea, Donggala District using satellite imagery and Geographic Information System (GIS). The method used NDVI analysis serves to determine the level of canopy density. Determination of sample plots is done intentionally based on the image that represents the level of canopy density with size of each land type: 20 m x 100 m. in determination of organic carbon content, the method used is the method of Walkley and Black. Result from this study showed total soil carbon are stored at various levels in the preserve forest canopy density Kebun Kopi in Nupabomba Village is 103.047,26 tons. In the area areas with sparse canopy, found soil carbon stocks are 27,12 tons/ha with the area of 196,7 ha and soil carbon number reached 5334,50 tons. In the area with sparse canopy found reserve of soil carbon contained 69,25 tons/ha with the area of 755,2 ha, soil carbon reaches 52.297,6 tons. Whereas the tight canopy area found reserve of soil carbon contained 71,05 tons/ha with the area of 639,2 ha and soil carbon number reached 45.415,16 tons.Key words: soil carbon, NDVI, Preserve Forest Kebun Kopi

Abstract

Tarsier (Tarsius sp.) are alboreal species which life on the trees. The vegetation is one of the important biotic factors for the wild animal as a place for food, nesting places and shelter from extrim weather and hide from predators. The study aims were to determine the spesies composition and association of vegetation of tarsius (Tarsius sp.) habitat in Kamarora village. Research methods using multiple plots placed by purposive sampling at tarsier habitat. The results showed that the species composition at all levels of the growth obtained thirty two plant species. Based on the analysis of Chi-square (X2) between species at each level of the growth (seedlings, saplings, pole and tree) obtained that twenty four plant significantly associated tangible and four plant species were associated very significant. Abstract

Over the function of land can affect soil condition that involve either chemical, physical or  biological characteristic of it. Soil chemical component that affected by : soil pH, C-organic, N, P, K and Cation Exchange Capacity. Toro village in Sigi Subdistrict is a village nearby Lore Lindu National Park that has different types of  land use. The research aimed to find out the soil chemical characteristic in various types of land uses around Toro village, Kulawi subdistrict, Sigi District, Central Sulawesi. The research was conducted on May up to the month of July 2015, on three types of land uses were primer forest (Wana Ngkiki), secondary forest (Pangale) and agroforestry land  (Oma) around Lore Lindu National Park, Toro village, Kulawi subdistrict, Sigi district, Central Sulawesi. The research started by doing  field survey, deciding sample swath spot, taking soil sample, analyzing soil sample in laboratorium. Deciding spot of taking soil sample was done purposively (purposive sampling) which done in the depth of  ≤ 30 cm. The result of the research showed that the soil chemical characteristic of various types of land uses was varies. Soil in primer forest (Wana Ngkiki) had chemical chracteristic as follows: pH (H2O) that tended to be acid 5.05, C-organic 3,56 %, N-total 0,63 %, T- available (Bray I) 1,49 ppm, K-total 0,96 mg/100g and CEC 28,83 cmol (+) kg-1. Soil chemical characteristic of secondary forest (Pangale) was pH (H2O) 4.78, C-organic 1.54 %, N-total 0.49 %, P-vailable (Bray I) 4.97 ppm, K-total 4.57 mg/100g dan CEC 8,46 cmol (+) kg-1. The soil chemical characteristic of  agroforestry land (Oma) was pH (H2O) 5.05, C-organic 1.39 %, N-total 0.13 %, P-available (Bray I) 5.35 ppm, K-total 3.73 mg/100g and CEC 8.93 cmol (+) kg-1.Keywords : Soil Chemical Characteristic, Land Use,  Lore Lindu National Park

Abstract

Throughfall is part of the rainwater that falls onto the surface of the soil through the cracks and the canopy or in the form of runoff from the leaves, twigs or branches. This study aims to determine the effect of rainfall on the stand throughfall Aubreville architecture models, Leeuwenberg and Stone. To calculate the amount of throughfall measurements directly on three models of tree architecture Aubreville, Leeuwenberg and Stone each repeated 3 times measured for 30 times the rainfall event. The results showed the highest throughfall Aubreville models by 18.74% and the smallest model of Stone 12.36% of the total rainfall 413.60 mm. Relations with throughfall precipitation is 75% in model Aubreville, 36% and 43% models Leeuwenberg Stone models.Keywords: Throughfall, stem flow, architecture model, watershed

Abstract

There are 1,539 bird species found in Indonesia, 381 of those species are endemic to Indonesia and 250 species endemic spread around Wallacea region.Wallacea region includes Sulawesi Island and nearby islands, they are Banggai Island, Sula Island, Nusa Tenggara Island, and Maluku Island.Birds are fauna which can be found from the lowlands to highlands, both in natural area or any other areas.The study about Birds’ species was conducted on March until May 2015 in order to determine composition, level of presence, diversity index, evenness index, and dominance of bird species in Protected Forest of Forest Management Unit Dampleas Tinombo, Sibualong Village, Balaesang Sub district, Donggala District. The method used was line transect method which function to record bird species. This method was applied to the research object along predetermined transects. Length line of transect is 500 meters.There are 4 line transects.The study result shows that there are 29 bird species represent 20 families with the total number of all species are 98 birds. There are several bird species were found from all observation center with level of presence is 100% type of forest habitat which is known well as brown-throated sunbird (Antrepthesmalacensis).Diversity index of bird species according to the type of forest habitat is about H '= 3.060394, whereas in open habitat is H' = 2.589035.Based on t test, for the diversity index discovered that there is no difference between the types of forest habitat and open habitat in the observation center, then it is concluded that H0 is accepted.Key words: diversity species, birds, protected forest
