Abstract

Abstract: Many scholars have criticised tabloid journalism because it often contains drama and sensationalism. However, tabloid journalism actually cater the taste of the readers who were ignored by mainstream newspapers. This article is based on a research analyse Pos Kota and Lampu Hijau, relying on content analysis of the papers’ editions in December 2011 and January 2012, as well as interviews with the editors and journalists. The analyses conclude that tabloid journalism in Indonesia is an urban phenomenon focuses on local issues and targets urban workers as their core readers and has been most successful in Jakarta and its surrounds.Abstrak: Jurnalisme tabloid merupakan terminologi yang sering diperdebatkan, dikritisi dan dicaci. Padahal, bentuk jurnalisme ini sebenarnya melayani selera pembaca yang cenderung diabaikan oleh jurnalisme arus utama. Artikel ini dibuat berdasarkan penelitian atas isi Pos Kota dan Lampu Hijau periode Desember 2011-Januari 2012, serta wawancara dengan editor dan jurnalis. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa jurnalisme tabloid di Indonesia adalah jurnalisme yang fokus pada isu-isu lokal dan menyasar para pekerja urban sebagai pembaca utamanya sehingga meraih sukses di kota-kota besar terutama Jakarta dan sekitarnya.

Abstract: Globalization affects almost everything, moreover international politics. Abstract

Abstract: Politics, for young people, is mostly uninteresting. But the large amount of television news coverage on corruption cases could be used to study the literacy of youth about good governance. This research is using mix-method and examining 89 respondents and 12 informants in Kelurahan Panembahan and Gowongan Yogyakarta which are differentiated by socio-economic characteristics. Cross-tabulation and coding model are used for analysis. According to young people the government has bad performance due to various corruption cases that affect the governance embodiment. The uses of numerous medium to obtain information could help the youth to have high literacy about good governance.Abstrak: Bagi kaum muda umumnya, politik adalah membosankann, namun maraknya pemberitaan kasus korupsi di televisi perlu digunakan untuk menjajagi literasi kaum muda tentang good governance. Penelitian ini menggunakan mixmethod terhadap 89 responden dan 12 informan di Kelurahan Panembahan dan Gowongan Yogyakarta yang terbedakan oleh latar sosio-ekonomi. Analisis menggunakan tabulasi silang dan tiga model coding: open, axial, selective. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan umumnya kaum muda menilai buruk kinerja pemerintah karena berbagai kasus korupsi, yang diyakini mempengaruhi perwujudan tata kelola pemerintahan. Penggunaan berbagai media untuk memperoleh informasi memperlihatkan bahwa tingkat literasi kaum muda dalam pemahaman tentang good governance sudah cenderung tinggi.

Abstract

Abstract: This article discusses the development of new media jurnalistic in Indonesia that seem to mix online media and social media as a practise of hybrid jurnalism. Hybrid jurnalism gives a complete picture of how media business is currently runned by the logic of Mcdonaldization as the principle of fast food restaurants. Consequently, it generates the homogenization of content, decreases the quality of jurnalism and misuses the concept of citizen journalism.Abstrak: Artikel ini membahas perkembangan jurnalistik pada media baru di Indonesia yang kini membaurkan media online dengan media sosial dalam praktik jurnalisme hibrida. Praktik jurnalisme hibrida memberikan gambaran utuh bagaimana bisnis media saat ini dikelola berdasarkan logika Mcdonaldisasi, yang merupakan prinsip dasar restoran cepat saji. Konsekuensinya, jurnalisme media baru di Indonesia dipenuhi oleh homogenisasi konten, penurunan kualitas jurnalistik, dan penyalahgunaan konsep jurnalisme warga.

Abstract: If managed professionally, the function of the press will be maximum. A professionalism press will always keep the quality of the news, and this is depend on the capability of the journalist. A good journalist upholds the quality of the news and used it as an indicator whether the press function works well or not. It is because a good journalist will be very obedience to the application of the ethics code of his profession. To keep the journalistic code of ethics works, it is necessary to have a journalist organization. This organization of journalist profession to increase the press professionalism to the commitment to control the journalistic code of ethics.

Abstract

Abstract : She research was conducted in Wonosari Village, Malang Regency from August to October 2009. The aims of the research are: (1) to establish a communication strategy for goat farmers according to their needs and wants, (2) to socialize the program to motivate the audience to breed Boer goat, and (3) to get potential skill and to give knowledge in Boer goat breeding activities. Research material was goat farmers who earn below Rp 146.837,00 per capita/month. Research methods were: observation and participation, interview and data triangulation. Sample was taken from key informants and goat farmer. Sampling technique was purposeful selection, selecting goat farmers to be research respondents. The research results then help researchers to establish a set of communication components strategie such as how to choose a communicator, what languages to use, the type of presentation, and the use of humor. Media/channels preferred are posters, slides, leaflets, booklets, magazines and seminar. To enhance the knowledge level, goat farmers were also taken to Sumbersekar Laboratory to give real experience to gain highest level of experience compared to audio atau audio visual media.

Abstract

Keberagaman budaya, agama dan bahasa di Indonesia seringkali menimbulkan konfl ik. Etnis Tionghoa dan Bugis Makassar, misalnya, sering terkait dengan konfl ik tersebut. Penyebab utama persoalan ini adalah stereotip dan prasangka yang kuat di antara kedua etnis. Sebenarnya, telah ada usaha-usaha menjalin komunikasi antar budaya untuk mengatasi persoalan tersebut. Usaha ini didasarkan pada anggapan bahwa jika kedua etnis dapat menjalin kontak atau interaksi dengan mengembangkan komunikasi antar budaya yang bermakna, maka kesalahpahaman budaya dapat diminimalkan sebagai upaya untuk mereduksi perilaku stereotip, prasangka, dan etnosentris.

Abstract

Jurnalis dan praktisi Hubungan Masyarakat (Humas) mempunyai hubungan dalam menjalankan pekerjaannya. Jurnalis membutuhkan informasi dari praktisi Humas dan praktisi Humas membutuhkan jurnalis untuk memberitakan informasinya. Oleh karena itu, keduanya membutuhkan persepsi yang sama dalam melihat nilai berita guna menjalankan fungsinya. Survey dilakukan untuk melihat perbedaan pendapat terkait nilai berita antara jurnalis dan praktisi Humas dan perbedaan karakteristik demografi yang menyebabkan perbedaan tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukan perbedaan yang substansial dalam melihat nilai berita di antara mereka. Tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh karakter demografi , tetapi juga dipengaruhi oleh fakta, ketertarikan akan berita, dan informasi yang rinci untuk mengkonstruksi berita.

Abstract

Abstract: This reseach is aimed at examinig the meaning of Iwan Fals’ live music concert broadcasted by TRANS TV, 4 April 2004. The method of Semiotic Analysis is deployed scrutinizing the live concert. The concert was seen as an integrated text comprising a set of signs amplified by television. The reseach shows that the concert was fully loaded with moral values with regard to, primarily, power, politics, corruption, and performance of parliament members (DPR). The ideology of resistance was found significantly in the concert.

Abstract

Abstract: It is clear that the aggresive promotions activities for tourism sector is vety important. It contributes to increase the Malaysian’ economic condition. Predicted the number of overseas tourism visitors to Malaysia increase to 21.5 milion people in 2008, up to 5% from those in 2007. It is followed by the raising of revenue in this sector, from RM 44.5 bilion in 2007 up to RM 49 milion in 2008. In 2010 Malaysia hopes there will be 24.6 milion people visit to Malaysia. It will be followed by the raising of revenue in tourism sector and also of working opportunities. To attantion the goals, it needs many professional human resources. Promotion activities and creating of tourism products, without serious effeorts and thingking for developing the professional tourism; human resources, will be not effective. This paper intended to discuss the effort to improve the quality of human resources in tourism industry, especially in the area of the communication competence.
