Abstract

Abstract

The vast development of construction is Pangkalpinang City has implicated the rapid growth of population, labor, economy, facility and infrastructure, industries, trading, and tourism has brought a great impact on mobility, which means the increase of time and cost of commuting in the traffic system. An analysis of commutation patterns in Pangkalpinang City is conducted using household interview survey or questionnaires and average daily traffic survey on the roads including secondary data needed in this study. Daily commuting pattern in a city is the combination of work, education, shopping, and schooling commuting pattern. Based on the analysis of the commuting characteristic of people in Pangkalpinang City, it is known that the life standard of most Pangkalpinang people has gotten better economically. This is shown in the increase of household income percentage between Rp 1.500.000 – Rp 2.000.000/month with a composition of workers dominating the number of students. In their daily commuting, most people 75,86% ride motorcycles. This number rises every year, higher than other types of vehicles such as cars (11,78%). The matrix of origin-destination shows that travels between the same origin-destination zone dominates in one district. The area with the highest same origin-destination commutation is Rangkui, and the lowest is Pangkalbalam. This suggests that the commutations done by most of Pangkalpinang residents is still in relatively close range.  Key Words:  Mobility, Survey, Commutation

Abstract

Soil has a very significant role in construction works, both as the main composition and supporting material. If the construction is build on a soft soil like soft clay, then it will give problem to the construction building. To increase the strength of soil, soil stabilization is done by adding palm pulp fibers into the soil. In this study, the percentages of palm pulp fibers mixed are 1,5%, 2,5%, 3,5%, and 4,5% out of soft clay dry weight. To know the strength of soil, direct shear test and unconfined compressive strength (UCS) test. The mixing of palm pulp fibers affects the value of Soil Shear Strength (s) and Unconfined Compressive Strength (qu). On the level of 4,5%, the Soil Shear Strength (s) and Unconfined Compressive Strength (qu) have the biggest value. The Soil Shear Strength (s) of 129,748 kN/m2 showed a rise of 537,083% in unmixed soil, while the Unconfined Compressive Strength of 34,254 kN/m2 showed a rise of 79,048% in undisturbed soil. Abstract

The management of water resources is inseparable from three issues; excessive water in rainy season, lack of water in dry season, and the decreasing quality of water from time to time. The increasing number of residents in one area in turn increases the global need of water, but this need may not immediately be fulfilled. Water balance is a ratio between water need and supply. Water need includes the need for irrigation and non-irrigation water. With the development in Bangka Island, especially the construction of public facilities and infrastructure, trading and industry, agriculture and plantations, the need of water will always increase. It is crucial to know the status of water balance in Bangka Island so that the water resource management can be controlled. The aim of this study is to figure the amount of water needs and water availability in Bangka Island and to determine the status of water balance in Bangka Island using the method of quantitative analysis of ratio between water needs (WN) and water availability (WA). The result shows that Bangka Island water need is 711,75 m3/capita/year. The number of water supply in Bangka Island from 2013 to 2023 shows a surplus in rainy seasons (November-April) and there are deficits in dry seasons (May-October). The condition of water supplies in all areas of Bangka Island is rated good until 2023, except for in Pangkalpinang. The condition of water balance in Pangkalpinang City is bad, which is 388,13% in 2013, 454% in 2018 and 531,04% in 2023.Key Words:  Water Availability, Water Needs, Water Balance, Bangka Island.

Abstract

Excavation causes soil deformation and changes in stress and strain. This research takes on a case study in the basement construction project of a skyscraper in Jakarta. The construction method used is top down method. The Diafragma, with a thickness of 0,6 meter and length of 37 meter, was constructed to the excavation. A professional software based on the concept of Finite Element Method, “PLAXIS 2D”, was chosen for the analysis. The soil example used in this research is Cam Clay (Soft Soil) using drained and undrained analysis and effective parameter. The result shows that drained analysis gives bigger values of deformation and bending moment than undrained analysis, so the safety factor is smaller. Undrained analysis gives a prediction result that is more similar with the result of deformation measurement in the field. For the surface movement, the result is bigger when using drained analysis than when using undrained analysis. The big surface movement occurs in 5-10 m length. However, the behavior of stress and strain in the Soft Soil modeling is similar to the condition in the field. Key Words: excavation, drained analysis, undrained analysis, cam clay

Abstract

The subgrade used for a highway construction should have a good bearing capacity, because the loads applied on the road construction are static and dynamic loads. One parameter that we can use to determine whether the soil bearing capacity is good or poor is by knowing the CBR value. The better the bearing capacity is, the higher the CBR. A poor bearing subgrade can be replaced with better soil (hoard with soil) from other location. Often there is no option for the hoarding material, so soil with high plasticity like A7 is used. To solve this problem, one of the efforts taken to enhance the soil bearing capacity is soil remediation using chemical stabilization method with cement. The percentage variations of the cement used are 10%, 12,5% and 15% with curing age of 1,7,14, and 28 days, optimum water condition. The tests that are conducted includes physical and mechanical properties tests of the original soil and mechanical properties testing of the stabilized one (soil CBR). From the result it is known that the CBR value rises with the percentage of cement (compared to the original soil CBR). The maximum CBR in 15% cement is 69,31%. The CBR value of the undisturbed soil is 3,01%. The CBR also increases with the age of curing from 1 to 28 days.Key Words: Hoarding material, Cement, Stabilization, Optimum, CBR.
