Abstract

There has been a significant increase in the exploitation of renewable energy systems. To be able to efficiently utilize grid - connected renewable energy sources, there must be a reliable control and monitoring system. In building a control and monitoring system for this system, a power analyzer connected to a microcontroller was used. The microcontroller was linked to touchscreen display where a graphical user interface (GUI) was programmed to able to display and log the data recovered. Relays were used to reconfigure the system by shifting the load’s source of energy between the grid and renewable energy system. The energy generated by the renewable energy system may be delivered to the load or be fed to the grid as needed. This operation will be done through either an external device or through a computer which was built to manually operate the control system and view the status of the system as determined by parameters such as cost and energy consumption. This system provided residential buildings with their own renewable energy system with a simple yet reliable control and monitoring system. The system was able to accumulate accurate and real time data. It also provided a continuous supply and switching application simultaneously.

Abstract

Population density in Indonesia is ranked fourth in the world. The impact of a large population will affect the level of welfare of the community to decrease, and the number of unemployment is increasing so that the state makes Family Planning Program (PLKB) to control the rate of population growth. Problems in the PLKB program are on knowledge management and mapping from data contraception, counseling and planning so that this research using Ontology method will aim to do mapping with knowledge management and Ontology design shows represented data to relate and describes the resources contained in family planning data. This research approach the representation of ontology that is validated through model transformation from family planning data to ontology design using OWL and RDF which are useful for data processing and representing data to be utilized by field officers in educating the public and eradicating negative issues about family planning programs

Abstract

The ratio of the diameters of Optic Cup (OC) and Optic Disc (OD), termed as ‘Cup to Disc Ratio’ (CDR), derived from the fundus imagery is a popular biomarker used for the diagnosis of glaucoma. Demarcation of OC and OD either manually or through automated image processing algorithms is error prone because of poor grey level contrast and their vague boundaries. A dedicated equalization which simultaneously compresses the dynamic range of the background and stretches the range of ODis proposed in this paper. Unlike the conventional GHE, in the proposed equalization, the original histogram is inverted and weighted nonlinearly before computing the Cumulative Probability Density (CPD). The equalization scheme is compared with Adaptive Histogram Equalization (AHE), Global Histogram Equalization (GHE) and Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) in terms of the difference between the mean grey levels of OD and the background, using a quantitative metric known as Contrast Improvement Index (CII). The CII exhibited by CLAHE, GHE and the proposed scheme are 1.1977 ± 0.0326, 1.0862 ± 0.0304 and 1.3312 ± 0.0486, respectively. The proposed method is observed to be superior to CLAHE, GHE and AHE and it can be employed in Computerized Clinical Decision Support Systems (CCDSS) to improve the accuracy of localizing the OD and the computation of CDR.

Abstract

In a Saheeh hadith it is explained that the cat is a clean animal that is free from najis, so keeping a cat is not something that is forbidden. One of the things that is important when keeping a cat is feeding. However, keeping a cat at home takes time and effort. In this digital era, the use of technology has penetrated all aspects of life. The objective of this research is to create a monitoring system for an automatic cat feeder using a webcam and a stepper motor that is connected to a Raspberry Pi as the main controller. The webcam can take pictures (photographs or videos) processed with the fswebcam and the avconv functions on the Raspberry Pi. The stepper motor can rotate the feed valve by utilising a General-Purpose Input Output (GPIO) pin and a program which is inserted into the Raspberry Pi. Next, the Raspberry Pi will be connected to the Internet and a server network so that the system control can be done remotely by using a web browser or web view on a mobile. The overall function of the system in the form of feeding the cat either directly or scheduled, as well as monitoring of photographs or videos around the feed. The results of a questionnaire showed that this system has a need value of 87.3% of 79 respondent cat keepers, meaning cat keepers will be greatly helped by the existence of this system.

Abstract

Human factor is one of the important elements in manufacturing world, despite their important role in improvement the production flow, they have been neglected while scheduling for many decades. In this paper the researchers taken the human factor throughout their job performance weightage into consideration while using job shop scheduling (JSS) for a factory of glass industry, in order to improving the workers' flexibility. In other hand, the researchers suggested a new sequence of workers' weightage by using Taguchi method, which present the best flexibility that workers can have, while decreasing the total time that the factory need to complete the whole production flow.

Abstract

This paper presents a novel Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) in conjunction with Phase Locked Loop (PLL) based shunt active filter for Power Line Conditioners (PLCs) to improve the power quality in the distribution system. The active filter is implemented with current controlled Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) for compensating current harmonics and reactive power at the point of common coupling. The VSI gate control switching pulses are derived from proposed Adaptive-Fuzzy-Hysteresis Current Controller (HCC) and this method calculates the hysteresis bandwidth effectively using fuzzy logic.  The bandwidth can be adjusted based on compensation current variation, which is used to optimize the required switching frequency and improves active filter substantially. These shunt active power filter system is investigated and verified under steady and transient-state with non-linear load conditions. This shunt active filter is in compliance with IEEE 519 and IEC 61000-3 recommended harmonic standards.

Abstract

This paper profiles the potential of developing and implementing Computer-Assisted Assessments (CAA) for helping lecturer in assessing students’ achievements on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Approach. PBL Assessment is typically formative; it includes delivery of feedback to the student, with the aim of improving their skills. The use of CAA in PBL gives advantages for both of lecturer and students by providing them with detailed formative feedback on their learning achievements compare to conventional assessment. It also reduces lectures tedious load by automating parts of the task of marking students’ work.  The methodology applied to this research was literature review and investigation of practitioners’ perception about assessment in PBL. The literatures showed that there are methods of assessments that have been used successfully in PBL, but the research selected five methods as PBL assessment framework; there are “Peer-assessment, Self-assessment, Group presentation, Individual activities, and Group report assessment”. The framework applied into the tool that encompasses the use of computer (called with CAPBLAT) for helping lecturer in assessing students’ achievements. In addition, the CAPBLAT helps to store assessment material, deliver assessment, and do auto-rating of the assessment result. The evaluation results concerning technology acceptance demonstrated that incorporating CAPBLAT can get better technology acceptance.

Abstract

Low contrast image has relatively bad quality since its information can not be directly interpreted by human eyes. It’s quality can be improved using contrast stretching operation. The objective of this paper is to design software for enhancement using contrast stretching on RGB and IHS digital image models. The operation is a point operation, that each pixel on the image is processed individually, by darkening dark pixels and brightening bright pixels. The development of the software was done using TBitmap class in Borland Delphi 6.0. Tests have been performed on BMP and PEG grayscale as well as color images. The test result shows that the developed software is capable to enhance the contrast of the sample images, which are shown by the expansion of the histograms of the images.

Abstract

This paper is under in-depth investigation due to suspicion of possible plagiarism on a high similarity indexA novel remote sensing image fusion scheme is presented for panchromatic and multispectral images, which is based on NonSubsampled Contourlet Transform (NSCT) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The fusion principles of the different subband coefficients obtained by the NSCT decomposition are discussed in detail. A PCA-based weighted average principle is presented for the lowpass subbands, and a selection principle based on the variance of the directional vector is presented for the bandpass directional subbands, in which the directional vector is assembled by the NSCT coefficients of the different directional subbands but the same coordinate. The proposed scheme is tested on two sets of remote sensing images and compared with some traditional multiscale transform-based image fusion methods, such as discrete wavelet transform, stationary wavelet transform, dual-tree complex wavelet transform, contourlet transform. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides superior fused image in terms of several relevant quantitative fusion evaluation indexes.

Abstract

This paper studies and identifies driver`s steering manoeuvre behaviour in near rear-end collision. Time-To-Collision (TTC) is utilized in defining driver’s emergency threat assessment. The target scenario is set up under real experimental environment and the naturalistic data from the experiment are collected. Four normal drivers are employed for the experiment to perform the manoeuvre. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is proposed to model the behaviour of the driver`s steering manoeuvre. The results show that all drivers manage to perform steering manoeuvre within the safe TTC region and the modelling results from ANN are reasonably positive. With further studies and improvements, this model would benefit to evaluate the driving reliability to enhance traffic safety and Intelligent Transportation System.
