Abstract

A novel method for eliminating noise from a noised speech signal in order to improve its quality using combined power spectral subtraction and multi-layer perceptron network is presented in this paper. Firstly, the contaminated speech signal was processed by spectral subtraction to enhance the clean speech signal. Then, the signal was processed by a neural network using the spectral subtraction parameters and result of estimated speech signal in order to improve its signal quality and intelligibility. The artificial neural network used was multi-layer perceptron network consisted of three layers with six input and one output. The neural network was trained with three speech signals contaminated with two level white gaussian noises in SNR including 0 dB and 30dB. The designed speech enhancement was examined with ten noised speech signals. Based on the experiments, the improvement of signal quality SNR was up to 7 dB when the signal quality input was 0dB. Then, based on the PESQ score, the proposed method can improve up to 0.4 from its origin value. Those experiment results show that the proposed method is capable to improve both the signal quality and intelligibility better than the original power spectral subtraction.

Abstract

Face alignment has been used on preprocess stage in computer vision’s problems. One of the best methods for face aligment is Supervised Descent Method (SDM). This method seeks the weight of non-linear features which is used for making the product and the feature resulting estimation on the changes of optimal distance of early landmark point towards the actual location of the landmark points (GTS). This article presented modifications of the SDM on the generation of some early forms as a sample on the training stage and an early form on the test stage. In addition, the pyramid image was used as the image for feature extraction process used in the training phase on linear regression. 1€ filter was used to stabilize the movement of estimated landmark points. It was found that the accuracy of the method in BioID dataset with 1000 training images in RMSE is approximately 0.882.

Abstract

Interest of Micro-Electromechanical System (MEMS) antennas in Terahertz (THz) applications has rapidly expanded in recent years due to the advent of accurate Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools. The very special needs of newly proposed MEMS antennas, especially with a wide bandwidth range, require advanced optimization procedures of enhancing already established designs. This paper provides a compact design of a wideband MEMS helix antenna optimized using tree-dimensional High Frequency Structure Simulator (3D-HFSS) based on Quasi-Newton (Q-N) and Sequential Non Linear Programming (SNLP) techniques to modify the antenna structure with a high accuracy for the selective band of frequencies by training the samples and minimizing the error from Finite Element Method- (FEM) based simulation tool. The helix antenna is presented using MEMS technology and shows high performance demonstrated by very low return losses of less than -20 to -65 dB for a wide range of frequencies from 2.5 to 5 THz. High antenna geometry precision and efficient performance are finally achieved by rectifying and synthesizing various tunable parameters embedded in silicon substrate including both helix form and feeding line parameters.

Abstract

Learning in 3-dimensional virtual environments has been widely used as a complement to traditional learning. Multi User Virtual Learning Environment in 3 Dimensions (3DMUVLE) provides many benefits and can support lifelong learning. In its implementation, this learning has not supported personal learning. This study aims to build a 3DMUVLE with personalized materials based on students' models. The system development model uses the Linear Sequence model by integrating MOODLE, SLOODLE and OPENSIM. Student's model in this research is Myer Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and determination of type uses fuzzy logic. The results of this study are 16 types of students and each type consists of 3 levels: low, medium and high. Each level has a specific learning material. The implication of this research is the level of MBTI type so that the learning material is more specific.

Abstract

In this paper, a new design of microwave sensor with high Q-factor for liquid characterization is analyzed and investigated. The new microwave sensor is based on a gap waveguide cavity resonator (GWCR). The GWCR consists of upper plate, lower plate and array of pins on the lower plate. The liquid under test (LUT) is characterized by placing it inside the GWCR where the electric field concentrates using a quartz capillary that is passing through microfluidic channels. The results show that the proposed sensor has a high Q-factor of 4832. Moreover, the proposed sensor has the ability to characterize different types of liquids such as oils, ethanol, methanol and distilled water. The polynomial fitting method is used to extract the equation of the unknown permittivity of the LUT. The results show that the evaluated permittivity using the proposed sensor has a good agreement with the reference permittivity. Therefore, the proposed sensor is a good candidate for food and pharmaceutical applications.

Abstract

As per the global digital report, 52.9% of the world population is using the internet, and 42% of the world population is actively using e-commerce, banking, and other online applications. Web servicesare software components accessed using networked communications and provide services to end users. Software developers provide a high quality of web service. To meet the demands of user requirements, it is necessary for a developer to ensure quality architecture and quality of services. To meet the demands of user measure service quality by the ranking of web services, in this paper, we analyzed QWS datasetand found important parameters are best practices, successability, availability, response time, reliability and throughput, and compliance. We have used various data mining techniques and conductedexperiments to classify QWS data set into four categorical values as class1, 2, 3, and 4. The results are compared with various techniques random forest, artificial neural network, J48 decision tree, extremegradient boosting, K-nearest neighbor, and support vector machine. Multiple classifiers analyzed, and it was observed that the classifier technique eXtreme gradient boosting got the maximum accuracy of98.44%, and random forest got the accuracy of 98.13%. In future, we can extend the quality of web service for mixed attributes.

Abstract

In this paper, an analytical and numerical study is conducted on the dynamics of the current in the condenser of a boost converter controlled with ZAD, using a pulse PWM to the symmetric center. A stability analysis of periodic 1T-orbits was made by the analytical calculation of the eigenvalues of the Jacobian matrix of the dynamic system, where the presence of flip and Neimar–Sacker-type bifurcations was determined. The presence of chaos, which is controlled by ZAD and FPIC techniques, is shown from the analysis of Lyapunov exponents.

Abstract

A design of a flat dielectric lens is presented in this study to enhance directivity of a pyramidal horn antenna. The horn antenna is proposed to cover frequency of medical imaging system, which is between 5 and 6 GHz, and dielectric lens is designed based on phase correction techniques. The spherical waves produced by conventional horn antenna is being transform to planar waves by resorting flat lens in order to achieve a highly directive radiation in the farfield region. This is done by drilling numerous holes with different diameters through the dielectric material to produce different phase delay. The radiation characteristics of the lens are simulated using CST Microwave Studio and then compared with measured results. The results showed a good performance for radiation pattern when the lens is attached. This proposed design shows a significant increment of sidelobe level and 3-dB beamwidth between 5 and 6 GHz.

Abstract

Satellite earth stations which located in remote areas are one of many applications powered by the renewable energy sources. Ground system consists of ground station and control centers working together to support the spacecraft and the data user. Earth station consists of major subsystems, transmitter, receiver, antenna, tracking equipment, terrestrial interface equipment and power supply. Power subsystem is an important part that required for supplying the earth station with electrical power to continue communicating with its remote sensing satellite. This paper deals with simulation and optimal sizing of earth station power system using HOMER software. A combination of two energy sources (solar, and wind) to provide a continuous electric power production is used to determine the optimum system operation. Three system configurations are compared with respect to the total net present cost (NPC) and levelized cost of energy (COE). Also, economical study will be analyzed for energy demand and sensitivity analysis will be performed.

Abstract

Recently, the significance of ship inspections hasbeen increasingly recognized because sea pollution andsafety problems are occurring more and more frequently. However, current ship inspections rely on the experience ofthe workers. Therefore, it is difficult to understand, and hence to improve, the state of ship inspections. The present problemsare that the ship inspection technical support level in China is not balanced, especially as to the current situation with low level, poor technologyin under-developed areas. In this paper, the case technology about the case-based reasoning to the ship inspection is proposed. The methods of normative inspection case representation are discussed.This is considered to be the basis of case-based reasoning. Then the tertiary case structure with the index is defined, in which the K-nearest neighbor method to calculate the similarity between caseswas used so that the ship’s inspection information can be searched effectively. In addition, animproved retrievalstrategy of the nearest neighbor method is introduced. Therefore, in the inspection site,the inspectors can acquire support information by the case bases, and then the new cases are calculated automatically. Further, a ship inspection case managementwereintroduced to improve the stability of the system. By carrying the case-based reasoning into an inspection, an inspector can generate fault information and inspection information simply and easily. Some examples of the organization and retrieval are shown at the end of the paper.
