Abstract

The major disadvantage of pulse width modulation generating by microcontroller is that  the process completed in a longer period and slower system response then FPGA based system, while if based on DSP is its insufficiency in the case of flexibility and reliability. Speed demand will operate for and performance the reliable controller pushes for the implementation of evocation of PWM signal at FPGA. This research aim to design and to implement a device with uniform pulse width modulation based on FPGA Altera ACEX1K as drive inverter to control the rotational speed of a three phase induction motor. Design stage of implementing a UPWM signal generating system started from design entry, compiling, simulation and verification, and hardware configuration at FPGA Altera acex1k50tc144-3 development system with  MAX+Plus II 10.2 Baseline software. At this research, three phase inverter circuit designed using MOSFET SK727 with DC input voltage 310 V. Inverter output then loaded with a three phase induction motor Y2 712-4, 370W/380V, 50Hz model. Result of this research indicate that the generating of UPWM signal design can be implemented in the form of hardwared logic at FPGA Altera acex1k50tc144-3 development system, and applicable to drive inverter as rotational speed controller of a three phase induction motor. Speed regulating function of this system was implemented by modulation index and frequency setting. At this research, system have been tested at setting frequency 10-50 Hz with the variation of modulation index, and yield a range of range  458-1468 rpm using Three phase Motor mentioned above.

Abstract

The precise localization by using Wi-Fi Access Point (AP) has become a very important issue for indoor location based services such as marketing, patient follow up and so on. Present AP localization systems are working on specially designed Wi-Fi units, and their algorithms using radio signal strength (RSS) exhibit (relatively) high errors, so industry looks more precise and fast adaptable methods. A new model considering/eliminating strong RSS levels in addition to close distance error elimination algorithm (CDEEA) combined with median filters has been proposed in order to increase the performance of conventional RSS based location systems. Collecting local signal strengths by means of an ordinary WiFi units present on any laptop as a receiver is followed by the application of CDEEA to eliminate strong RSS levels. Median filter is then applied to those eliminated values, and AP based path loss model is generated, adaptivelly. Finally, the proposed algorithm predicts locations within a maximum mean error of 2.96m for 90% precision level. This achievement with an ordinary wifi units present on any commercial laptop is comparably at very good level in literature.

Abstract

This paper presents a low cost portable medical device for biochemical sensor using CMOS chip and paper-based fluidic channel. We measured a potential produced by enzyme activity of glucose between the working and reference electrode on CMOS chip. A liquid sample is transported by paper-based fluidic channel, which is made of chromatography paper and silicone resin, and consists of the area for filtering a sample (filter layer) and that for reacting enzyme (enyzme layer). The paper-based fluidic channel is used by combining CMOS chip, and the solution with glucose is dropped from top of the paper-based fluidic channel. The concentrations of glucose are detected by potentiometry (open circuit potential time). The experimental results show that the glucose concentration is measured by CMOS chip and paper-based fluidic channel.

Abstract

Sentiment analysis in short informal texts like product reviews is more challenging. Short texts are sparse, noisy, and lack of context information. Traditional text classification methods may not be suitable for analyzing sentiment of short texts given all those difficulties. A common approach to overcome these problems is to enrich the original texts with additional semantics to make it appear like a large document of text. Then, traditional classification methods can be applied to it. In this study, we developed an automatic sentiment analysis system of short informal Indonesian texts using Naïve Bayes and Synonym Based Feature Expansion. The system consists of three main stages, preprocessing and normalization, features expansion and classification. After preprocessing and normalization, we utilize Kateglo to find some synonyms of every words in original texts and append them. Finally, the text is classified using Naïve Bayes. The experiment shows that the proposed method can improve the performance of sentiment analysis of short informal Indonesian product reviews. The best sentiment classification performance using proposed feature expansion is obtained by accuracy of 98%.The experiment also show that feature expansion will give higher improvement in small number of training data than in the large number of them.

Abstract

Ease process digital data information exchange impact on the increase in cases of copyright infringement. Audio watermarking is one solution in providing protection for the owner of the work. This research aims to optimize the insertion parameters on Modified Discrete Cosine Transform (M-DCT) based audio watermarking using a genetic algorithm, to produce better audio resistance. MDCT is applied after reading host audio, then embedding in MDCT domain is applied by Quantization Index Modulation (QIM) technique. Insertion within the MDCT domain is capable of generating a high imperceptible watermarked audio due to its overlapping frame system. The system is optimized using genetic algorithms to improve the value of imperceptibility and robustness in audio watermarking. In this research, the average SNR reaches 20 dB, and ODG reaches -0.062. The subjective quality testing on the system obtains an average MOS of 4.22 out of five songs tested. In addition, the system is able to withstand several attacks. The use of M-DCT in audio watermaking is capable of producing excellent imperceptibility and better watermark robustness.

Abstract

The use of strategic planning can be an alternative solution to improve industrial performance. In small and medium scale industries especially in apple chips industries, strategic planning helps to know the current industry situation and the steps that must be taken to overcome the existing problems. This study aimed to develop an improvement strategies using Fuzzy Sequential Modeling (FSM) model. FSM model was consisted a SWOT analysis, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Bolden’s Taxonomy and fuzzy AHP. Based on SWOT analysis, the external factors of threats was the similar business competition and low purchasing power. RCA described the issues that needed to be fixed using Bolden’s Taxonomy as the reference for determining the action plans and produce four OIA (Open Improvement Area) there are old technology machines and equipment, difficulty of enterprise development, ineffective marketing media and low market share. The strategic planning was determined using Fuzzy AHP based on OIA and ABC enterprise needs to improve the low market share and ineffective marketing strategy.

Abstract

This paper established a relationship between multi-spectral palm images and a face image based on multiple fusion methods. The first fusion method to be considered is a feature extraction between different multi-spectral palm images, where multi-spectral CASIA database was used. The second fusion method to be considered is a score fusion between two parts of an output face image. Our method suggests that both right and left hands are used, and that each hand aims to produce a significant part of a face image by using a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) network. This will lead to the second fusion part to reconstruct the full-face image, in order to examine its appearance. This topology provided interesting results of Equal Error Rate (EER) equal to 1.99%.

Abstract

The application of plant acoustic frequency technology (PAFT) can spur plant growth, increase productivity, immune system, quality, and extend the shelf life of agricultural products after harvest. The application of sound waves in plants can stimulate the opening of the stomata to optimally absorb nutrients and water. This study aims to determine the effect of frequency and time of PAFT exposure by utilizing Javanese gamelan traditional music on the vegetative growth of red-lettuce (Lactuca sativa var.). Javanese gamelan music used was titled Puspawarna with variations in the frequency of 3-5, 7-9, and 11-13 kHz. The variation of exposure time of sound waves was 1, 2, and 3 hours. PAFT exposure was given routinely in the morning and evening. The results of this study indicated that the best treatment was at 3-5 kHz with an exposure time of 2 hours. This treatment gave a significantly better effect when compared to plants without PAFT. The best combination of frequency and time of PAFT exposure produced 10 leaves, plant height of 9.4 cm, wet weight of 4 g, dry weight of 0.22 g, leaf area of 27.19 cm2, leaf red mean of 63, and stomata opening width of 145.44~206.59 µm.

Abstract

Several models were proposed to predict the attenuation of microwave signals due to sand and dust storms. Those models were developed based on theoretical assumptions like Rayleigh approximation, Mie equations or numerical methods. This paper presents a comparison between attenuation predicted by three different theoretical models with measured attenuation at 14 GHz. Dielectric constant of dust particles is one of the important parameter in prediction models. This constant is estimated from measured dust samples and is utilized for predictions. All models are found largely underestimating the measurement. Humidity is also monitored and has been observed higher during dust storm. Hence dielectric constants are re-estimated with relative humidity conditions using available conversion model. The prediction has a great impact of humidity and predicted attenuations are found much higher in humid than dry dust condition. However, all models underestimate the measurement even considering 100% of relative humidity. Hence it is recommended to investigate the models by considering humidity and other environmental factors that change during dust storm.

Abstract

Robot application in disaster area can help responder team to save victims. In order to finish task, robot must have flexible movement mechanism so it can pass through uncluttered area. Passive linkage can be used on robot chassis so it can give robot flexibility. On physical experiments, robot is succeeded to move through gravels and 5 cm obstacle. Rescue robot also has specialized control needs. Robot must able to be controlled remotely. It also must have ability to move autonomously. Teleautonomous control method is combination between those methods. It can be concluded from experiments that on teleoperation mode, operator must get used to see environment through robot’s camera. While on autonomous mode, robot is succeeded to avoid obstacle and search target based on sensor reading and controller program. On teleautonomous mode, robot can change control mode by using bluetooth communication for data transfer, so robot control will be more flexible.
