Abstract

Galileo E1 Open Service (OS) signal is transmitted with the modulation of Composite Binary Offset Carrier (CBOC). CBOC has a main drawback that is the autocorrelation function has multiple side-peaks, which will lead to ambiguous acquisition. The high rate of data bit and secondary code makes it very difficult to increase coherent integration time. This paper will propose a new scheme based on the delay-and-multiply concept. And also this scheme combines the data channel and pilot channel. Finally, the theoretical results will be given to prove that the new scheme will accomplish unambiguous acquisition and also eliminate the influence of bit transition.

Abstract

This paper designs and implements a SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) real-time echo simulator based on multi-FPGA parallel computing. The one-dimensional frequency-domain Fourier transform algorithm is used in the simulator, and the echo signal model and the rapid calculation algorithm of impulse response function are introduced. The pipeline compute structure, multichannel parallel computing and procedure flow design are the key technologies of the simulator, which are also presented in details. And finally, the validity and correctness of the SAR echo simulator are verified through the imaging results of the point-array target and the nature scene target.

Abstract

A novel enhancement algorithm for magnetic resonance (MR) images based on spatial homomorphic filtering transform is proposed in this paper. By this method, the source image is decomposed into different sub-images by dyadic wavelet transform. Homomorphic filtering functions are applied in performing filtering of corresponding sub-band images to attenuate the low frequencies as well as amplify the high frequencies, and a linear adjustment is carried out on the low frequency of the highest level. Later, inverse dyadic wavelet transform is applied to reconstruct the object image. Experiment results on MR images illustrate that the proposed method can eliminate non-uniformity luminance distribution effectively, some subtle tissues can be improved effectually, and some weak sections have not been smoothed by the novel method.

Abstract

The D2D communication is expected to improve devices’ energy-efficiency, which has become a major requirement of the future wireless network. Before the D2D communication can be performed, the device discovery between devices must be done. The previous works usually only assumed one mode of device discovery, i.e. either use network-assisted (with network supervision) or independent (without network supervision) device. Therefore, we propose a selective device discovery for device-to-device (D2D) communication that can utilize both device discovery modes and maintain devices’ energy-efficiency. Different from previous works, our proposed method selects the best device discovery mode to get the best energy-efficiency. Moreover, to further improve the energy-efficiency, our proposed method also deployed in D2D cluster with multiple cluster heads. The proposed method selects the most suitable mode using thresholds (cluster energy consumption and new device acceptance) and cluster energy expectation. Our experiment result indicates that the proposed method provides lowest energy consumption per new accepted device while compared with schemes with full network-assisted and independent device discovery in low numbers of new device arrival (for the number of new devices arrival = 1 ~ 3).

Abstract

Vivaldi antenna has been considered as a mitigation to the scattering effect of an antenna. However, the current performance of Vivaldi antenna suffers from multipath effect, interfering signals and radiation pattern control. This paper proposed an improved Vivaldi antenna which combined triple radiating slot to enable control of radiation pattern features. This is accomplished by controlling the position of the radiating element through the asymmetric arrangement of ideal switches to steer the beam in three desired-directions. The Using operating frequency lied between 900 MHz and 2.5GHz, the proposed design was fabricated and tested. Depending on the radiating element, the proposed antenna covered about ±90º with an almost equal gain at the three different focal in contrast to ±45º coverage of traditional rectangular microstrip antenna beam. The results satisfied pattern reconfigurability and the proposed design can be very useful for wireless communications where multipath fading problems are frequently encountered.

Abstract

Despite the adoption of Learning Management Systems (LMS) has been continuously growing in the last decade few, if any, scholars addressed the lack of the interactivity in online learning systems. The requirement for an interactive learning model has been increasingly prominent as content providers realize the importance of personalization of content suits to learners’ learning progress. This paper demonstrates the adoption of adaptive learning into existing LMS engine to overcome the limitation of either systems plugins or server specification pertinent to students’ psychomotor abilities in computer programming learning. In this regard,  the psychomotor is understood as the ability of students to write the program code as correctly as expected. In this study, a web API model that works to run an interpreter based-program code remotely was developed. The web API model can be utilized by LMS so it becomes the solution to the problem. The structure of the web API model has been adapted to the needs of the learning assessment. The implementation of the developed API web model is done in Python and PHP programming languages. The performance test was done by submitting 10 to 100 program codes simultaneously indicated no significant difference to the required resources (CPU usage and memory usage) to run the program code. Furthermore, for response time, the average time needed to run Python and PHP program code is also no significant difference. The average of CPU usage required by the web API to run a Python program code is 0.2058% with 0.5973 seconds as a response time. Meanwhile, to run the PHP program code, the average CPU usage required is 0.8074% with 0.3110 seconds response time. It can be concluded that the web API performance does not overburden the server.

Abstract

Limited resources in post-disaster areas, one of which is a communication where coordination needed for aid distribution in disaster areas. Wireless balloon technology as a solution for use in post-disaster areas. Bandwidth limitations and high delay in communication systems on wireless balloons create limitations in aid coordination, especially mobile device tracking on BPBD volunteers or officers. This research develops an effective communication system at the wireless balloon to track personal device officers in disaster areas that use cellular devices. This mobile device tracking system utilizes a wireless balloon using a publish-subscribe system on their mobile devices, namely volunteers as publishers and those responsible for disasters or communities as subscribers. To overcome the limitations of communication resources on cellular devices and wireless balloons using the Adaptive method on publish-subscribe called UM-Disaster. The results of this study, the UM-Disaster system for multi-cell tracking has an average efficiency of 40-63% for bandwidth and processor use on mobile devices at 51-70%.

Abstract

Induction motors have become a major part of the industry because of strong construction, cheap in purchasing and maintenance, high efficiency, and easy to operate. Preventive maintenance must always be carried out on all industrial equipment, including induction motors to last long and prevent further damage. Based on research in the industry, around 42%-50% or almost 50% is bearing damage. One reason is the occurrence of misalignment during the installation of the load on the induction motor. This study tries to identify the condition of the motor and classify the level of misalignment damage that occurs. In the process, the mother wavelet like as Daubechis, Symlet and Coiflet discrete wavelet transform (DWT) are selected as tools in processing motor vibration data. The level of DWT applied is 1st to 3rd level. Then, the three types of signal extraction, namely sum, range, and energy, which are obtained from a high-frequency signal of DWT, are used as input to Quadratic and Linear Discriminant Analysis. Then, discriminant analysis analyzes and classifies them into normal operation and two misalignments conditions. The simulation shows that 1st level of Daubechis DWT combined with quadratic discriminant analysis generates the best classification. It results 0% error of classification with Db3, Db4 and Db5, 4.17% error with Db1 and 8.33% error with Db2.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to invistgate the characteristics of Si-MOSFET with 18 nm length of ion implemented channel. Technology computer aided design (TCAD) tool from Silvaco was used to simulate the MOSFET’s designed structure in this research. The results indicate that the MOSFET with 18 nm channel length has cut-off frequency of 548 GHz and transconductance of 967 μS, which are the most important factors in calculating the efficiency and improving the performance of the device. Also, it has threshold voltage of (-0.17 V) in addition obtaining a relatively small DIBL (55.11 mV/V). The subthreshold slope was in high value of 307.5 mV/dec. and this is one of the undesirable factors for the device results by short channel effect, but it does not reduce its performance and efficiency in general.

Abstract

The trajectory tracking problems of a class of space robot manipulators with parameters and non-parameters uncertainty are considered. An adaptive robust control algorithm based on neural network is proposed by the paper. Neutral network is used to adaptive learn and compensate the unknown system for parameters uncertainties, the weight adaptive laws are designed by the paper, System stability base on Lyapunov theory is analysised to ensure the convergence of the algorithm. Non-parameters uncertainties are estimated and compensated by robust controller. It is proven that the designed controller can guarantee the asymptotic convergence of tracking error. The controller could guarantee good robust and the stability of closed-loop system. The simulation results show that the presented method is effective.
