Abstract

Abstract

Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) is one of the hydroponic systems, which the nutrient is circulated through root of the plants. Electrical conductivity (EC) of nutrient solution on hydroponic culture is a crucial point that determines the growth rate of the plants and quality of the products. The purpose of this research is to design the control system for nutrient solution to maintain the EC of nutrient solution using Arduino. Fuzzy logic control system was used with EC error and volume of nutrient solution as inputs. Model of tomato cultivation based on certain reference was simulated with scale 1:1440 for cultivation time. This model was used as disturbance of nutrient solution EC due nutrient uptake. The result of observation showed that system could reach setpoint after 130 seconds when the setpoint changes from 1.7 mS/cm to 1.6 mS/cm and 207 seconds from 1.6 mS/cm to 1.9 mS/cm. During observation, RSME value of the system while steady state was 0.005 mS/cm.

Abstract

The development of internet technology makes more information can be accessed. It makes information need to be organized in order to be easily managed. One solution can be used is by using the entity annotation approach which generates tags to represent that document. In this study, TAGME technology is implemented on a WordPress plugin, which is used to manage a blog. Moreover, information on Wikipedia ‘Bahasa Indonesia’ is processed to generate an anchor dictionary which is required by the technology that is implemented. This plugin performs entity annotation by giving tag suggestion for posts in a blog. Testing is carried out by measuring the precision, recall, and  of tag suggestions given by the plugin. The result shows that the plugin can give tag suggestions with precision 0.7638, recall 0.5508, and  0.59.

Abstract

Nowadays, large-scale business processes is growing rapidly; in this regards process mining is required to discover and enhance business processes in different departments of an organization. A process mining algorithm can generally discover the process model of an organization without considering the detailed process models of the departments, and the relationship among departments. The exchange of messages among departments can produce asynchronous activities among department process models. The event logs from departments can be considered as multi-source logs, which cause difficulties in mining the process model. Discovering process models from multi-source logs is still in the state of the art, therefore this paper proposes a hierarchy high-to-low process mining approach to discover the process model from a complex multi-source and heterogeneous event logs collected from distributed departments. The proposed method involves three steps; i.e. firstly a high level process model is developed; secondly a separate low level process model is discovered from multi-source logs; finally the Petri net refinement operation is used to integrate the discovered process models. The refinement operation replaced the abctract transitions of a high level process model with the corresponding low level process models. Multi-source event logs from several departments of a yarn manufacturing were used in the computational study, and the results showed that the proposed method combined with the modified time-based heuristics miner could discover a correct parallel process business model containing XOR, AND, and OR relations.

Abstract

This study aimed to design an accurate and practical system of leaf area determination using a smartphone. A software application for leaf area computation was developed using Open CV (Open Source Computer Vision) library. Open CV software was tested to estimate the accuracy of leaf area calculation. Leaf area calculations were undertaken using three different image resolutions to compare their accuracy. The results of the software calculations were then compared with the results of the laboratory leaf area meter to identify any errors. The results showed that higher image resolutions improved accuracy by reducing errors. High resolution image gave higher accuracy, however processing speed decreased. Leaf measurement in this project resulted in accuracy range between 92.8% to 99.0%. It was concluded that the Open CV algorithm gave fast and adequate accuracy for leaf area calculation, and that the smartphone mobile application system was practical for field use.

Abstract

In this paper, performance analysis of switching and matching stubs was done to a reconfigurable power divider with Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch function. Two designs (Design A and Design B) with different positions of switches and matching stubs were proposed. Rogers RO4350 (er=3.48, h=0.508 mm) was used in this analysis as a substrate material with copper thickness of 0.035 mm. The performance analysis was carried out based on insertion loss, return loss and isolation parameters. The simulated results showed that Design B had a better performance than Design A and was able to work as a reconfigurable power divider with SPDT switch function.

Abstract

In today’s sensitive environment, for personal authentication, iris recognition is the most attentive technique among the various biometric technologies. One of the key steps in the iris recognition system is the accurate iris segmentation from its surrounding noises including pupil and sclera of a captured eye-image. In our proposed method, initially input image is preprocessed by using bilateral filtering. After the preprocessing of images contour based features such as, brightness, color and texture features are extracted. Then entropy is measured based on the extracted contour based features to effectively distinguishing the data in the images. Finally, the convolution neural network (CNN) is used for the effective sclera, iris and pupil parts segmentations based on the entropy measure. The proposed results are analyzed to demonstrate the better performance of the proposed segmentation method than the existing methods.

Abstract

In Bangladesh, mouza map is used to maintain the record of land measurement, which is a form of interpreting land ownership as well as estimation. Unfortunately, the automatic determination of land is still under development. As a result, land administrators have to encounter multiple hurdles while evaluating any area by employing local civil engineers. Thus, our country needs an automated land estimation system so that it can reduce time, cost and other difficulties which inspired us to develop a system that requires only mouza map image. Once image acquisition is done, we applied the curvature interpolation techniqueto zoom the map that helps to select any area by the Area Selection Method. The selected area is then segmented by employing the Canny edge detection method. Finally, the area is calculated from the segmented image and extracted features of the selected location. Compared to the field measurement, the system gave the accuracy of 89.8%. Hence, the land administrators will be able to provide the land information to the landowners promptly.

Abstract

This paper proposes an efficient second order IIR filter which considerably improves the passband as well as the stopband of the cascaded-integrator-comb (CIC) filter. Using the polyphase decomposition of the proposed filter, all filtering can be moved to a lower rate, which is D times less than the high input rate, where D is the decimation factor. The overall phase response of the compensated CIC is approximately linear in the passband. The design parameters are the number of cascaded CIC filter N, the decimator factor D, the passband frequency wp, and a weighted parameter a.
