Abstract

Providing a secure mobile communication in mixed IPv4/IPv6 networks is a challenging task. One of the most critical vulnerabilities associated with the IPv6 protocol is the routing header that potentially may be exploited by attackers to bypass the security. This paper discusses an algorithm to secure home agent network from the routing header vulnerability, where the home agent network uses IPv4 Network Address Translation (NAT) router. The algorithm also takes into account multi-hops destination in the routing header. Verification was done through implementation of the algorithm at the Home Agent modul in a testbed network. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm provides secure communication between Correspondent nodes and Mobile Nodes that moved into the NATed network without causing a significance filtering delay.

Abstract

As an important preprocessing step of information retrieval and information processing, the accuracy of stop words’ elimination directly influences the ultimate result of retrieval and mining. In information retrieval, stop words’ elimination can compress the storage space of index, and in text mining, it can reduce the dimension of vector space enormously, save the storage space of vector space and speed up the calculation. However, Chinese patents are a kind of legal documents containing technical information, and the general Chinese stop words list is not applicable for them. This paper advances two methodologies for Chinese patents. One is based on word frequency and the other on statistics. Through experiments on real patents data, these two methodologies’ accuracy are compared under several corpuses with different scale, and also compared with general stop list. The experiment result indicates that both of these two methodologies can extract the stop words suitable for Chinese patents and the accuracy of Methodology based on statistics is a little higher than the one based on word frequency.

Abstract

Machine Learning algorithms have been widely used to solve various kinds of data classification problems. Classification problem especially for high dimensional datasets have attracted many researchers in order to find efficient approaches to address them. However, the classification problem has become very complicated and computationally expensive, especially when the number of possible different combinations of variables is so high. Support Vector Machine (SVM) has been proven to perform much better when dealing with high dimensional datasets and numerical features. Although SVM works well with default value, the performance of SVM can be improved significantly using parameter optimization. We applied two methods which are Grid Search and Genetic Algorithm (GA) to optimize the SVM parameters. Our experiment showed that SVM parameter optimization using grid search always finds near optimal parameter combination within the given ranges. However, grid search was very slow; therefore it was very reliable only in low dimensional datasets with few parameters. SVM parameter optimization using GA can be used to solve the problem of grid search. GA has proven to be more stable than grid search. Based on average running time on 9 datasets, GA was almost 16 times faster than grid search. Futhermore, the GA’s results were slighlty better than the grid search in 8 of 9 datasets.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) communication protocol built over IP and non-IP environment. Therefore, a gateway device will be needed to bridge the IP and non-IP network transparently since an IoT user is more likely to concern on the service provided by the IoT device, rather than the complexity of the network or device configuration. Since today ubiquitous computing needs to hide the architectural level from it users, the data & information centric approach was proposed. However, the data & information centric protocol is having several issues and one of them is device and service discovery protocol over IP & non-IP network. This paper proposed a pervasive device and service discovery protocol that able to work in interoperability of the IP and non-IP network. The system environment consists of a smart device with XBee Communication as the non-IP network that will send the device and service description data to the IP network using WebSocket. The gateway will able to recognize the smart device and sent the data to the web-based user application. The user application displayed the discovered devices along the services and able to send the control data to each of the smart devices. Our proposed protocol also enriched with the smart device inoperability detection by using keep-alive tracking from the gateway to each of the smart devices. The result showed that the delay for the user application to detect the smart device in the XBee network is around 10.13 ms delay, and the service average delay requested by the user application to each of the devices is 2.13 ms.

Abstract

Speech is fundamental and the most dominant form of communication. Speech input may facilitate natural interaction between humans and computers. For children, this input mode supports their interaction with application systems. This study addresses speech input as an alternative mode in order to improve multi-touch gesture interactions. Previous studies show that children difficult to perform multi-touch gestures successfully. In fact, multi-touch is parts of basic core gestures that have been adapted to most of the learning applications. This study uses the Wizard-of-Oz method and posts interview, involving nine preschool children between ages of four to six years old. Results of the study show children’s interactional ability using speech input towards systems and positive feedback received from them regarding the prototype of the systems. The findings from this study highlight the opportunities and challenges in using speech input to increase the success of children’s interaction with multi-touch gestures.

Abstract

Wide spectrum of research for application-based solutions has grown due to the requirement of automation of general electrical appliances. A low-cost solution is presented in this paper to control DC motor using Bluetooth module and controlled by an ARM processor. The main objective here is to build an efficient closed loop system which is wirelessly controlled by ARM processor 2103 using Bluetooth module and Bluetooth dongle. The system suggested here is expandable and can be integrated with latest technologies as well. The paper gives the details of the prototype for home automation system and gives the expected results with 0.1% tolerance. It also suggests the ways to integrate this system with the mobile phones and hence control the devices with the mobile handsets. The vibration frequency of the DC motor is used to generate electrical potential using MEMS tecnonlogy. A novel idea of self powered DC motor is thus presented by installing MEMS based energy harvester on the motor shaft.

Abstract

Language repository is valuable as a reference in using the language, its preservation, and in developing and implementation of natural language processing algorithms. Bahasa Indonesia is one of natural languages that hardly has repository despite its large number of speakers and previous attempts to build ones. We devised a way to develop repository of phrase definition in Bahasa using a kind of crowdsourcing and investigated its implementation. An application add-on was inserted to an information system that manages final year projects of undergraduate students. The add-on invites students to participate in writing keyword definition and validating definition. Investigation in a period of six months reveals that about 25% of application users take parts into the voluntary activities either as definition writers and/or validators. During the period, about 1200 phrase definitions were added into the repository and in average each definition is validated by two participants. The activity is supported by users that are well aware of the tasks, and have positive perception about the work, despite different reasons that motivate their contribution.

Abstract

Remote phosphor structure is commonly limited in color quality, but has greater luminous flux when comparing to structures with in-cup or conformal coating. From this dilemma, various researches with advance modifications have been proposed to perfect the chromatic performance of remote structure. In this research, we reach higher color quality by obtaining better values in quality indcators such as color rendering index (CRI) and color quality scale (CQS) with the dual-layer phosphor in our remote white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). The idea is to ultize WLEDs with 7000 K correlated color temperature (CCT) and create dual-layer configuration with yellow phosphor YAG:Ce3+ under green phosphor YPO4:Ce3+,Tb3+ or red phosphor LiLaO2:Eu3+. After that, we search for suitable concentration of LiLaO2:Eu3+ for addition in order to acquire the finest color quality. The result shows that WLED with LiLaO2:Eu3+ has better CRI and CQS as the higher the concentration of LiLaO2:Eu3+, the larger CRI and CQS due to increased light scattered in WLEDs. Meanwhile, the green phosphor layer YPO4:Ce3+,Tb3+ give advantages to luminous flux. However, the reduction in luminous flux and color quality occurs when the concentration of LiLaO2:Eu3+ and YPO4:Ce3+,Tb3+ over increase. Results are verified by Mie theory and Beer’s Law and can be applied to practical manufacturing of high quality WLEDs.

Abstract

This research was solely conducted to observe the adaptive filter ability in identification of multipath channel for Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA). The method used was limited to a simulation of mutipath channel identification by adaptive filter, which imitated the characteristics of the channel. LMS (Least Mean Square) and NLMS (Normalized Least Mean Square) filter were observed, where as Kalman was used to compare the results. There were some variable to be varied in this simulation, namely the convergence variable, the filter length, and the SNR. Channel identification analysis is based on the estimated channel coefficients compared with channel coefficients, the convergence constant of adaptive filter, the adaptation time, the mean square errors (MSE), and the bit error rates. The results show that NLMS filter has a good performance in channel identification. LMS filter has largest mean square error in the channel identification. Kalman gives more precise results but has complex algorithm. Kalman left the least mean square error, which is 4.1e-34 at 0.16 of convergence rate. All filters have good performance on signal detection in various signal to noise ratio, especially for SNR ³ 10 dB.  Bit error rate at 10 dB SNR is 3.33e-4.
