Abstract

The development of telecommunications networks is currently dominated by fiber optics. The fiber optic has become a waveguide medium transmitting information with high frequency bands, high capacity and high speed. An optical amplifier is required to maintain electromagnetic signals when they propagate in far distance. One of the amplifiers, Fiber Raman Amplifiers (FRA) which is the light scattering from the light that comes with the phonon in the lattice of amplification medium produces photons that are coherent with the incoming photons. Many amplifiers are commonly used but the problems not only come from the amplifier but also the component circuit and system.  By simulation method, FRA circuit is designed and operated in the form of pre-amplifiers to maintain a better signal from material interference and geometry. The simulation results show that the lowest BER value and the highest Q-factor are found at a distance of 10km depicted by eye diagram.

Abstract

The remote phosphor structure is often disadvantageous in color quality but in terms of optics it is more convenient when compared to other phosphor structures such as conformal or in-cup ones. From this disadvantage, there are many studies to improve its chromatic output. In this research paper, we propose a dual-layer remote phosphor geometry for the improvement of white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) in two parameters: color rendering index (CRI) and color quality scale (CQS). The 7700 K WLEDs are used in this study. The idea of the study is to place a red phosphor layer LaAsO4:Eu3+ on the yellow phosphor YAG: Ce3+, and then find the concentration of LaAsO4:Eu3+ in an appropriate way to achieve the highest color quality. The results showed that LaAsO4:Eu3+ bring great benefits for enhancing CRI and CQS. In particular, the greater the concentration of LaAsO4:Eu3+, the greater the CRI and CQS because the portion of red lights in WLEDs increases. However, the decrease in lumen output occurs when the concentration of LaAsO4:Eu3+ increases excessively. This is proved thanks to Mie-scattering theory and Beer-Lambert law. The results of important articles in WLEDs fabrication have greatly contributed to a higher white light quality.

Abstract

Generally, full encryption is applied on the entire image to obscure the faces. However, it suffers in overhead, speed and time. Alternatively, selective encryption can be used to encrypt only the sensitive part of the image such as human faces. This paper proposes a new encryption algorithm using enhanced Henon chaotic map to conceal the faces. This technique involves three steps: face detection, encryption and decryption. Experiments have been performed to evaluate security such as histogram, sensitivity and statistical analysis, and results reveal that the proposed method provides high security with entropy and correlation close to ideal values.

Abstract

Capacitance measurement accuracy is affected by phase conformity between signal and reference. This work describes phase detection scheme which is necessary for phase synchronization in tomography application. Core processing for calculating phase and amplitude of the detected signal was built on FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate-Array) platform. Phase shift demodulation algorithm employs IP core provided by Xilinx FPGA. Direct digital synthesizer (DDS), multiplier, accumulator, and CORDIC (coordinate rotation digital computer) modules were used as excitation-reference signal generator, signal multiplication, accumulation, and conversion to polar coordinate in order to conduct trigonometric operation respectively. Hardware design was emulated on MATLAB-Xilinx System Generator to observe its performance. Phase detection range 0-114.58o and mean absolute error 0.58o have been achieved. Data processing rate solely at digital signal stage was approximately 100data/s suitable for 32-channel electrical capacitance volume tomography (ECVT) system.

Abstract

Fuel cost of a thermal generator is its own load functions. In this research, Modified Improved Particle Swarm Optimization (MIPSO) is applied to calculate economic dispatch. Constriction Factor Approach (CFA) is used to modify IPSO algorithm because of the advantage to improve the ability of global searching and to avoid local minimum, so that the time needed to converge become faster. Simulation results achieved by using  MIPSO method at the time of peak load of of 9602 MW, obtained generation cost is Rp 7,366,912,798,34 per hour, while generation cost of real system is Rp. 7,724,012,070.30 per hour. From the simulation result can be concluded that MIPSO can reduce the generation cost of  500 kV Jawa Bali transmission system of Rp 357,099,271.96 per hour or equal to 4,64%.

Abstract

The detection of transmitted data collusion among sensing nodes needs to be resolved at data link layer. It takes a lot algorithm calculation effort and time constraint. A new method to sense the performance of cognitive radio (CR) by avoiding interference based on new master node (MN) algorithm. Interference could be reduced significantly by using only PHY (physical) information of the cognitive radio network. It saves a lot computational on above layer and detect the collusion of transmitted data as early as possible. By using a novel MN algorithm at PHY layer, it reduces the cost of computation and time to detect and avoid collusion of transmitted data.

Abstract

An adaptive neural network controller is brought forward by the paper to solve trajectory tracking problems of robotic manipulators with uncertainties.  The  first  scheme consists of  a PD feedback  and  a  dynamic  compensator  which is  composed by  neural  network controller and  variable  structure controller.  Neutral network controller is designed to adaptive learn and compensate the unknown uncertainties, variable   structure controller is designed to eliminate approach errors of neutral network. The adaptive weight learning algorithm of neural network is designed to ensure online real-time adjustment, offline learning phase is not need; Global asymptotic stability (GAS) of system base on Lyapunov theory is analysised to ensure the convergence of the algorithm. The simulation results show that the kind of the control scheme is effective and has good robustness.

Abstract

Fuel cells are new alternative energy resource that has a great promise for distributed generation and electric vehicle application. However, fuel cells have a slow response due to their slow internal electromechanical and thermodynamic response. To optimize the fuel cell system performance, a fuel cell DC-DC converter with an appropriate controller which can regulate the power flow and automatically adjust the converter output voltage is needed. This paper proposes a new control technique for fuel cell DC-DC power converter. Design of the proposed control method for fuel cell DC-DC power converter is provided. A new approach for converter controllers synthesis based on dynamic evolution control theory is presented. In this paper, synthesis example of boost DC-DC converter is discussed. Performance of the proposed dynamic evolution control under step load variation condition is simulated under Matlab-Simulink environment. Simulation results show that the proposed techniques are capable for controlling fuel cell DC-DC converter.

Abstract

Madura Batik Virtual Fitting Room using double difference algorithms motion detection is proposed in this research. This virtual fitting room consists of three main stages, i.e. motion detection, determination of region of interest of the detected motion, superimposed the virtual clothes into the region of interest. The double difference algorithm is used for the motion detection stage, since in this algorithm, the empty frame as the reference frame is not required. The double difference algorithm uses the previous and next frame to detect the motion in the current frame. Perception Test Images Sequences Dataset are used as the data of the experiment to measure the performance accuracy of this algorithm before the algorithm is used for the Madura batik virtual fitting room. The accuracy is 57.31%, 99.71%, and 78.52% for the sensitivity, specificity, and balanced accuracy, respectively. The build Madura batik virtual fitting room in this research can be used as the added feature of the Madura batik online stores, hence the consumer is able to see whether the clothes is fitted to them or not, and this virtual fitting room is also can be used as the promotion of Madura batik broadly.
