Abstract

The research was moticated by the difficulty of students to solve mathematical problems, especially in the material derivative. Based on preliminary data obtained from research experience in teaching, students confusion in understanding the intent of the question whether the proposed teacher and from textbooks.  One alternative could be done to help students by rewriting the problem with his own words or write about in other forms. Hence the need for prospective teachers’ knowledge about the strategy. The purpose of this study to describe the profile of the submission of profpective teachers about students assessed based on mathematically ability. The resultsare expented to be utilized by the student teacher candidates to be applied in teaching and learning activities in schools. This study uses tests and interviews. Tests of the information given to prospective teachers and students the information is processed into a problem. Information given to the students of mathematics teacher candidat capable low as a research subject. Interviews were conducted to students of mathematics

Abstract

This study aims to describe the estimation point of measurement error in mathematics tests using the classic theory and to find out the effect of the estimation model of measurement errors. This study population is all participant answer sheets of UN SMA mathematic test conducted in 2009/2010 academic year in the city of Yogyakarta in the form of a multiple choice test. The sample was established by stratified proportional systematic random sampling. The data were in the form of  documentation and analyzed with  the Iteman program. The model used for the analysis is Thorndike, , Kristoff, and Feldt models The research results can be summarized as follows. For the error estimation model with the classic theory, the average error estimation of the mathematics test is in the range of  2.65742  £ SEM £  3.544352. In the classic theory, Thorndike model yields the biggest measurement error estimation, which means Thorndike model is the most effective model to estimate measurement error in a mathematic test.

Abstract

One of the learning model used is the direct teaching of teachers. In this model teachers usually to used traditional lecture method with little questioning and accompanied by the assignment, so that the teacher is not giving the opportunity for students to interact and cooperate with others. As a result of this study pretended to be one way, it is means that the teachers provides information or ideas, and students take it for granted. Such a learning model does not involve students actively. Many problems in daily life that can be expressed in mathematical form of the sentence. With the sentence of the problem or idea of mathematics more practical, systematic and efficient to communicated and solve. However, based on observation and discussion researcher and many mathematics teachers SMPN 3 Taman was still a lot of students who have difficulty in completing the topic. This research is descriptive research that describes or explains the event. The research is done at SMPN 3 Taman Sidoarjo and the subject of the research is students of class VII B. The purpose of this research is to describe the student’s result, student’s activities and student’s response to cooperative learning STAD type. Based on data analysis, it is known to student’s learning completeness is 81,58 %. This shows that classically student’s learning is complete. Students activities during teaching-learning can be said active with average percentage of activity by 86,06 %, Students give positive response to the average percentage of 86,842 %.

Abstract

Understanding of concepts, of students not optimal while learning process in math department caused by less variation of teaching method. The effort to solve these problem by using cooperative learning model. The purpose of this research was to know the student’s: 1) understanding of consept, communication ability, problem solving of math students follow learning cooperative learning model type STAD better than understanding of concept, communication ability, problem solving ability of students attending a convensional learning.This research imposition made STKIP PGRI Padang students taking courses in Ordinary Differential Equations 2010/2011 academic year. Experimental research done to compare two treatment through sample class. Data were collected through the test results of study and observation. Results of analysis of data showed that Understanding math concepts students attending a model of cooperative learning type STAD better than understanding of math concepts of students attending conventional.

Abstract

This paper examines the problem of testing hypotheses about two population means. Most testing hypotheses about two population means, based on the assumption that each random sample drawn from a normal population. In this paper studied the problem of testing hypotheses about two population means are not using the assumption of normality and homogeneity. The method used to test hypotheses about two population means are the bootstrap method. The basic idea of the bootstrap method of repeated sampling with replacement from the sample data. Replication of samples used to determine the point estimator of Achieved Significance Level (ASL). Performance of the bootstrap method was tested using simulated data. The test results show that the bootstrap method to test the hypothesis of two population means well. Furthermore bootstrap method implemented on real data.

Abstract

The cause of lakness of communication ability in mathematic learning at SMPN 2 Tanjung Emas is due to the teacher centered of teaching method applied in the school One of the best ways to solve this problem is by applying Generative Learning Strategy. The purpose of this research is to know whether communication ability of students taught with generative of learning strategy better than those taugh with common learning strategy. The research was conduc ted at VII class of SMPN 2 Tanjung Emas 2009/2010 academic year. This research used quasi experiment method with posttest Control Group Desigh. Experimental group used generative learning strategy and a control group used conventional method. Data were collected through achievement tests. The analysis showed that students’ communication ability of students taught with generative of learning strategy better than those taught with common learning strategy.

Abstract

This research was to know the increase of result learn and interest of learning mathematics at SMP IT Masjid Syuhada Kotabaru Yogyakarta, in Oktober-November 2011. Subject were collected amount to 17 people. The data collecting instruments included an assay test and interest questionnaire. The data were analyzed using analysis descriptive. The result of research indicated the approach of Think-Pair-Share can improve result learn and interest of learning mathematics at chapter one variable linear equation. Where average interest of learning mathematics of the students was indicated high with average 41,18. The result of learning increased from 68,71 to 79,76.

Abstract

In mathematics, beauty can be thought of as a "certain expectation" for a "natural outcome". Mathematical sciences application have appeared in the field of art, particularly music. One example of its application namely Fibonacci sequence and Golden Ratio. This research aims to create two songs with the Fibonacci sequence and Golden Ratio. The first song were created by applying the elements of the Fibonacci 100% while the second song with the implementation of Fibonacci 64%. Then the sense value ratio from both songs are analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with 16 respondents from ISI Denpasar students (Indonesian Art Institute in Denpasar). This research is expected to add knowledge about the mathematics application to the arts, escpecially the art of music.

Abstract

The public has many ways to invest money, one of them by buying obligation in the capital market. A rational investor should consider the expected income and risk of alternative investments contained does. The study was conducted to determine the rate of return/ total risk of stocks returns and investment in the company/ issuer elected and predict stock returns one year later. Analysis of the data used are time series analysis using decomposition-ARIMA method. The data used in this study is the stock return of monthly data from January 2003 to December 2007. Analysis of stock returns from January 2003 to December 2007 showeda trend of rising prices down. Fluctuations in stock returns peaked in August 2004. Decomposition method is used to forecast the trend and seasonal component, while the ARIMA method is used to predict cyclical and random components. Decomposition method used is the multiplicative decomposition. The best ARIMA models used to predict cyclical and random components of the ARMA (2,1) in equation form as follows :0,6286 + 0,3480  + - 0,9361 The value of MAPE = 17,89 % dan MSE = 9,471. Forecastong is done to show that the lowest return in January is the right position to buy the stock, while the highest return in March is the right position to sell the stock.
