Abstract

According to Broadcasting Law Number 32 Year 2002, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) and Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) have become independent public services broadcasting institutions. Until 2012, the transformation of both still faces some obstacles, internally and externally. Both are still encountering identity crisis whether representing public or authority due to strong influence of power—not fully free from government intervention, problem of civil servants professionalism, and budget nomenclature. There is the need for a new and special law of public broadcasting in order to ensure protection and transformation of RRI and TVRI as public service broadcasting in the future.

Abstract

Implementation of e-democracy in Indonesia is still problematic. This notions based on three arguments which is discussed in this article. First, e-democracy is just the facilities or the goals? Second, define e-democracy as a facilities or goals of democracy, leads to question, how this new system of democracy could be start, from structure or culture of society? Third, if Indonesians digital culture has established, then internet as democracy space could be examined, does this necessarily make the internet as a public sphere, as Jurgen Habermas theory said? This article does not aim for a practical solution, but rather try to analyze and mapping out some of the indecision in the implementation of e-democracy in Indonesia, so that the various tensions between internet relations, state , and society can be clearly explained.

Abstract

The involvement of women in politics in Indonesia has fundamental problems, namely the minimal representation of women in public spaces. This is because women have been stigmatized and are positioned in the domestic sphere, taking care of household problems, without being able to develop themselves in the public sphere. In fact, there are already rules about the 30% quota for women in parliament, but has not yet been realized. When you glance at the historical record and the women's movement toward public spaces, has existed since Indonesia's independence in 1945. Rights of women to choose is basically recognized. However, the position of women in politics, very volatile in Indonesia. It is because the democratic process in Indonesia not through means gradual (gradual) but through jumps (leaps). Each leap democracy will produce political visions different countries and sometimes very dramatic in seeing women's issues. This phenomenon, then bring up the figure of Megawati's Indonesian women representing the highest ever reached peak Indonesian leader. As a leader, Megawati is the symbolic leader. Megawati is symbolic leader who tried to communicate how to obtain the status, prestige and reputation, or in other words, to fulfill the functions and symbols are fused.

Abstract

Pangkur Jenggleng is a kind of Macapat, traditional song of Java. It was packaged as a cultural art program in RRI Nusantara II Yogyakarta in the era of 1960S-1970S. Then, it was repackaged by TVRI Yogyakarta and sponsored by Amien Rais Information Center using stage comedy format in 2003. The changing of media format from audio to audiovisual -with any adjustment- make a shift in the value of the meaning of Pangkur Jenggleng. Accentuation of humor in Pangkur Jenggleng TVRI changes cultural value from traditional to mass culture. This phenomenon is not only seen as a media format adjustment, but also as a form of commodification. The research attempts to seek form, process, ideology, and power behind the commodification of Pangkur Jenggleng.

Abstract

Journalism could be a tool to produce news stories bombastically. Bombastic news on bad reality could produce bad things. In order not to make journalism producing bad things, we have to have some principles in reporting bad realities. The article suggests one principle: to present bad reality as the way it is. The practice of this principle is not so difficult since the fact has shown that the Indonesian press has been made public sphere on bad realities successfully. However, in practicing this principle, the joumalists still place their selves as doers inprofession and doers in media.

Abstract

Someone who is sick tends to suffer from stress. This type of patient really needs a figure of nurse to reduce their stress level. Beside that’s, patient also needs a therapeutic communication. Therefore, a research is done in the Neurology Ward in M Haulussy General Hospital in Ambon with the purpose is to find out the therapeutic communication relationship of the nurses toward the patients’ stress level in the Neurology Ward in M Haulussy General Hospital in Ambon. The method used in this study is the correlation quantitative method. The correlation result of the nurses’ verbal communication toward the patients’ stress level is 0,498 with the significant point of 0,005 (p<0,05). And the result of the correlation nurses’ non verbal communication toward the patients’ stress level is 0,497 with the significant point of 0,005 (p<0,05). While the correlation result of the correlation test between the nurses’ therapeutic communication toward the patients’ stress level is 0,581 with the significant point of 0,001 (p<0,05). Therefore, Ho (there is no relation of therapeutic communication to patients stress level) is rejected and Hi (There is relation of therapeutic communication to patients stress level) is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the nurses’ therapeutic communication toward the patients’ stress level.

Abstract

Woman body in the television advertisement becomes instrument to accumulate the capital. This article aims to describe role of television advertisement to communicate each other, give information, define new product, accumulate the capital and increase consumptive culture by using woman body which have magnetic power. Gender inequality and objectification are always presented in the advertisement design, become one of woman exploitation manifestation. Advertisement establishes dominant culture which present man as leader, powerful, strong and heroic. Whereas, woman describes in the physical beauty, emotional and weak. Woman body is represented by television advertisement to promote every products and get large advantage rapidly.

Abstract

Penyiaran radio adalah media elektronik tertua, hampir satu abad lebih keberadaannya dan berusaha untuk tetap eksis mengatasi persaingan keras dengan hadirnya media-media lain. Saat ini, mulai muncul teknologi baru dan metode distribusi yang memiliki efek mendalam pada cara di mana khalayak mendengarkan penyiaran radio melalui media internet. Dalam proses komunikasi siaran radio, lembaga penyiaran radio konvensional terjadi penambahan media yaitu internet. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk mengkaji komunikasi siaran integrasi media radio konvensional dan internet pada penyiaran radio swasta. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pemaknaan proses komunikasi siaran integrasi media radio konvensional dan internet sebagai konvergensi media menjadi krusial untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan penyiaran radio di masa kini dan masa yang akan datang. Selain itu, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa selain transmisi melalui udara atau (broadcast) dalam bentuk suara atau bunyi, penyiaran radio saat ini juga melakukan live streaming atau podcast streaming melalui internet (network) dalam bentuk suara, teks, gambar maupun video.

Abstract

Technological development always gives change to the mass media, including the online media presence. The presence of online media allows the occurrence of convergent media that have a variety of formats in a single display. Convergence becomes a threat on the one side and a chance in the other. It requires ability to master the technology and also individuals who are adaptable and made for different multimedia working patterns. This research is based on the different characteristics both in the writing, working patterns, and culture of the organization along with increasing media formats. This is the most influential to the media' editorial staff. The study formulates problems in two ways. First is how media convergence policy brings change to the management of Human Resources (HR) section in Solopos Daily. The second is how the Human Resources Editorial Staff of Solopos Daily adapts to the changes in HR management that occur as a result of media convergence.

Abstract

News program in local television has its own charm for the local civilization more than the news program in the national television. Local Banjarmasin news program, also challenged by another private television station whom broadcasting its program nationally. In order to strengthening its power in competition, TVRI Stasiun Penyiaran Kalimantan Selatan and Banjar TV as a station who have an interesting program have to use what they have in local area. This research has found some discoveries. First, the production process of local news with the material to cover an event start from the idea planning, job distribution and equipment check were done as the standard procedure in broadcasting. Second, production stage, live or recorded, can be executed due to the station decision and the will of corporate management. Any kind of program, live and recorded, should be processed carefully and involving all crew in charge. Third, both of the television station adopted local value within the program, religious theme, cultural outfit, cultural song and also adopted cultural symbol which is shown in the news production process.
