The study was conducted by adapting the approach of Research and Development (R&D) from the model designed by Borg and Gall and the cycle model design developed by Cenamo & Kalk. The development comprises two stages; the model development and dissemination. The model development encompassed of model planning, model designing, as well as the try out. While, the dissemination stage was done by presenting the research result at a conference. At the end of the study, it was proven that the assessment instrument model used to assess teachers’ creativity in designing and teaching music subject at school had met with the research aim. It was shown from the try out test on the assessment instrument model development that: (1) the assessment material, assessment technique, rater criteria, assessment object, units of observation, competence test process, time allotment, observation process, measurement criteria, as well as the measurement rubric had been considered appropriate and had provenly matched from one to another so that it can be applied well; (2) the reliability of the assessment instrument based on Intraclass Correlation Coefficients/ICC test on consistency and absolute agreement definition type as well as the Generalizability Coefficient had met the criteria.

Abstract

Nowadays, during this intercultural era and global challenge, film can be interpreted as a practical strategy to develop meaning and Indonesian cultural identity. Through many singers of audiovisual creation, film has not only served as entertainment, but can also act as an instrument to reflect local values and traditional perspective through the storytelling that has been presented by film director. This role is a significant point to develop local insight and cultural value as the identity of Indonesian film. Although, at some point, this strategy still becomes a problem in Indonesian film fields. Sang Pencerah film that was directed by Hanung Bramantyo is one of Indonesian films that attempted to deliver local identity in its storytelling. This research is an endeavour to identify Indonesian cultural identity that has been represented through Sang Pencerah film. By applying cultural studies and interdisciplinary as their methods, the researchers acquired some interesting findings. Firstly, aesthetic and thematic elements in the film narrative had a significant relation to traditional and cultural values of Javanese society. Secondly, the meaning of cultural identity also had a linear proportion to spiritual values in life, such as determination, peacefulness, gloriness, tolerance, as well as social understanding. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Sang Pencerah film is a manifestation of Hanung Bramantyo regarding to the meaning of Indonesian culture that is based on Javanese society’s local wisdom. How to Cite: Puspitasari, D. The result of this research was that the correlation between the ability in perceiving movement and the ability in conveying movement was 3.8048. The correlation between the ability in perceiving movement and kinesthetic intelligence was 0.3137. The correlation between the ability in perceiving movement and arranging a dance was -0.3751. The correlation between conveying movement and kinesthetic intelligence was 0.1333. The correlation between conveying movement and arranging a dance was -0.2399. The correlation between kinesthetic intelligence and arranging a dance was 0.8529. These result proved that kinesthetic intelligence has significant influence to the ability in arranging a dance. It could be concluded that a smart assessment model of kinesthetic intelligence in arranging a dance that was needed should measure the kinesthetic intelligence first while the ability to perceive and convey movement became the supporting element to strengthen the kinesthetic intelligence in arranging a dance.

Abstract

This research aims to describe responds and cultural practice that happened in Mangkunagaran based on the repression of tourism world. This research is an analytical research based on ethnographic study. Triangulation data is collected from the interviewees together with the manuscript of dance performance and direct observation of Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun dance. Classification of tourism dance is responded by Puro Mangkunagaran as the objectification of Bedaya Bedhah Madiun as a free dance. The cultural response potentially alters the semiotic sign system associated with ‘bedhaya’ sign. This is a sign to Bedhaya to add the profanity of Bedaya as a tourist attraction. The objectivity of Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun by Puro Mangkunegara also has a potency to deconstruct the understanding of Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun as a tourist attraction, Bedhaya Bedhah Madiun is not an imitation from the origin and it is not full of variation. Cheap or expensive the dance is, becomes relative. Furthermore, secrecy does not exist in the stage reality, but moves to hyper reality (in the fantasy and nostalgia of the audience). Respond and cultural practice of indicated Puro Mangkunagaran as a cultural institution which is active in doing the production-reproduction of meaning and the tourism enhancement.

Abstract

A comic cartoon is a communication media that is widely enjoyed and accepted by people. As a literary and journalistic work, the comic cartoon also captures the surrounding cultural situation. The modern and traditional cultural sign, fact and imagination, realist pattern and cartoon or caricature are used in a combination that seems contra versed (it is called double code discourse in postmodernism discourse), to show metaphor pattern relationship. The metaphor is applied through the transformation and play of the signs in the past and the future. They were spread, combined, and also transformed as a tool to show the creator’s expression. In this research, it was found that there was a very close relationship between the use of metaphoric signs and Indonesia’s social-politic situation in 1983. On one hand, Metaphor in comic cartoon Mbeling was a tool created to insinuate and criticize the corrupt and feudal Orde Baru authoritarian. It insinuated the violence involving the government officers in every aspect of the people’s life. On the other side, the comic cartoon also becomes the representation of contemporary Javanese culture that was open to other culture and acculturation.

Abstract

Training is indispensable in all facets of life in order to further knowledge and skills irrespective of gender difference, yet this disparity has become a phenomenon in artistic practice in Nigeria. The study aimed at examining art training in relation to gender distribution into various areas of specialization in art schools in Nigeria. There has been a gender imbalance in various areas of specialization which has left certain areas for male and female. Data for this study were collected in art School in Southwestern Nigeria between 2011/2012 to 2014/2015 academic sessions using archival materials to know the gender affinities. The university selected as sample size within the geographical scope of the study is Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. The selection was based on the orientation of their training and admission criteria which differs tremendously. Descriptive analysis was adopted to know the gender affiliation in the practice. Finding reveals that the total enrollments of students are more of females (55.8%) than male (45.2%) are admitted to study art. The result has also shown that more female (93.3%) specializes in textile while more male (84%) students are in sculpture. This perhaps could be attributed to the nature and the demands of each area of specialization. Textile design attracts more female artist because of; the socio-cultural affiliation of the discipline, interest in fashion; the readily available market for textile wares across all social class and the less demand on draughtsmanship skills as compared to other forms of arts.

Abstract

Inculturation of Church music in an experiment of creating this arrangement aims to bring a different form of musical ordinarium accompaniment form of Dolo-Dolo Mass from Flores, with a different media that uses the woodwind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and Basson). The experiment took one of the ordinary songs from Madah Bakti “Tuhan Kasihanilah Kami”. The harmonization fine-tunes to the chorus arrangement composed by Mateus Weruin. The literature study was conducted through collecting references on the art of Dolo-Dolo and woodwind quintet so it can be used to create an idea for this arrangement. The result shows that a rhythmic character that characterizes the traditional Flores music lies in a dotted sixteenth pattern. The richness of sounds and agile characters coming from each instrument creates a percussive atmosphere of Flores folk music. The result of the arrangement experiment can be used to enrich the reference of accompaniment music to the general public and specifically, the Catholic Church.
