Abstract

Elevated monocyte count is correlated to the decrease of renal function and disease progressivity on end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Probiotic that utilize lactobacillus species is known to play a role in maintaining imunity system balance by inducing the monocyte apoptosis. The combination between probiotic and calcium carbonate could increase probiotic colonization in the gatrointestinal tract. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of probiotic and calcium carbonate combination toward reduction of monocyte count on ESRD patient at Rumah Sehat Terpadu Dompet Dhuafa Bogor Hospital. This study was true experimental research with randomized pre-post test control group design. Twenty four ESRD patient were randomly enrolled into treatment group (n=12) and control (n=12). The treatment group received probiotic and calcium carbonate, whereas control group received standardized calcium carbonate for 21 days. There was a significant decrease of monocyte (p=0.03) after administration of probiotic and calcium carbonate.

Abstract

AbstractBreast milk is the first and the best choice of food for infants in early life. Various efforts have been taken by the government of Indonesia to encourage mothers to breastfeed their children exclusively. However, exclusive breastfeeding outcomes in most areas are still low. Yogyakarta is one of those areas, especially in the Gondokusuman Subdistrict with breastfeeding outcome only 23.2%. The outcome should be 80% according to the target in the Minimum Service Standards of Health. The succes of 23.2% breastfeeding mothers to breast feed exclusevely because of the support that receive by them, one is the informational support. The purpose of this study was to determine what kind of informational support to breast feed exclusively which is received by nursing mothers in the Gondokusuman Subdistrict. The type of research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. In depth interviews and focus group discussion (FGD) are used for data collection techniques. Depth interviews were conducted to mothers who exclusively breastfed, mothers who did not exclusively breastfeed, the husband of nursing mothers, and health care workers. Investigation of the trustworthiness of the study using triangulation of methods and sources. Thematic Content Analysis is used for data analysis. These results indicate that informational support is very important for pregnant and nursing mothers to be able to provide exclusive breastfeeding to their babies. Informational support in the form of support from health workers and significant others, the support of health care and UKBM (Community Based Health Unit), availability of health promotion media, completeness of information, easier access of information for nursing mothers. Information gleaned from significant others or people who are influential for nursing mothers have a more important role, because of the closer emotional factor. Therefore, nursing mothers need to build a positive environment in order to obtain sufficient information for the success of exclusive breastfeeding.Keyword : Exclusive breastfeeding, Informational support, Phenomenological

Abstract

The implementation of credentialing program in JKN is different from the previous era, particularly for new medical facilities and medical provider of PT. Jamsostek and ASABRI. Therefore, this study aims at finding out the description associated with the process of credentialing implementation of the first-level health facilities from the perspective of PPK 1 and BPJS Kesehatan, Denpasar Branch. This research was conducted in January 2014 using qualitative approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews to 11 medical facilities, as well as 2 executive credentialing teams from BPJS Kesehatan, Denpasar Branch. The subjects were selected purposively and the data was analyzed using thematic analysis. There are still some obstacles in the implementation of such credentialing program: there are still existing providers, especially TNI/Polri, which have the value below standard but are still contracted to serve JKN participants because the number is still relatively small. The new medical facilities have difficulty in self-assessment because there are many indicators that must be met, but the budget is limited. The study concludes that credentialing program has not yet fully applied the concept of managed care, thus regular monitoring to improve medical quality is needed.

Abstract

Male Aedes aegypti mosquito has been considered to not have any important role in transmitting dengue virus (DENV). The purpose of this study is to prove that male Ae. aegypti mosquito does have an important role in transmitting DENV 3 through venereal transmission with their potency of its polygamy behavior. The data collection was done using colonization method and intrathoracal injection. The presence of DENV 3 on male and female mosquitoes was proven by RT-PCR method (profile of DNA band specifically on 511 bp) and serotyping PCR (290 bp). The data were analyzed using univariate analysis followed by bivariate analysis with parametric test ANOVA. The result of the study demonstrated that male Ae. aegypti mosquitoes do have an important role in transmitting DENV 3 through venereal transmission with the potency of their polygamy behavior. There was no significant difference between the polygamy behaviors of Ae. aegypti male mosquito infected by DENV and the non-infectious Ae. aegypti male mosquito.

Abstract

Diaper is an option for most mothers because they are practical for the parents and make babies sleep better. Children who wear diapers often show late toileting development since they cannot feel a sense of damp when urinating. This study aimed to know the use of baby diapers on toilet training behavior of pre-school children in Early Childhood Education Programs (PAUD) and Kindergarten at Mersi village, Purwokerto. This was a non-experimental quantitative study with cross-sectional study design. The population was 217 children with history of diaper usage. The samples were 68 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The data was analyzed using Chi Square. This research has already been conducted in 2013. The results showed that 85.4% respondents wore diapers, whereas 14.6% did not. 12.5% respondents had good toilet training behavior, 78% had sufficient behavior 78%, and 9.5% were lacking. There was a significant difference between history of diapers usage and toilet training behavior among pre-school children in Early Childhood Education Programs (PAUD) and Kindergarten at Mersi village (p=0,04). It can be concluded that there was a significant difference between the usage of baby diapers and toilet training behaviors in pre-school children.

Abstract

Inorganic waste management through Malang Waste Bank (BSM) is expected to reduce the risk of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). However, the number of neighborhood groups (RT) which become BSM participant varies. The problem is whether or not this variation will result in different entomology of mosquito larvae indexes. The purpose of this study is to prove the role of inorganic waste management to the risk of DHF transmission. Longitudinal survey was conducted weekly for 4 months in 2013 in six villages with the highest dengue cases in the city of Malang. Villages were classified into 3 types of membership of Malang Waste Bank (BSM). The result shows that the number of controllable containers is more than disposable container. Kruskal Wallis test mentions that the House Index (HI), Breteau Index (BI), Container Index (CI), and Density Index (DI) of the three villages are significantly different (p <0.05), while MI is not different. MI is related to all of mosquito larvae entomological indexes except with HI. Therefore, it can be concluded that the level of cleanliness of an area (MI) can be an indicator of the high index of mosquito larvae entomological indexes.
