Abstract

The aplication of curricullum which is based on Competence Standart (SK) andCompetence Based (KD) demands the student to be independent, in order for them tobe able to develop their ability in their ways of thinking and to be independenly active. There fore, teachers as motivators need to create a condusive atmosphere in teachingand learning activities. For example they may apply new teaching methods whichallow the student to think creatively, actively and independently. The newest teachingand learning methods or models suggest the teachers to apply a conceptual map withinthe material given. Through a conceptual map, both the students and the teacher willbe assisted to get the “meaning” of the related material. Besides, it can also give asystematical guidance based on geography subject according to the topic, sub topicand other related topics in order to keep the material going on the right track. Theconcept map may be applied to analyze students acquisition toward the learnedconcept in more detailed than a test, such as the amount of the acquired concept, thedepth, the extention, and the entive of acquisition of a topic. The point is, the conceptmap may function as an effective evaluation device.Kata kunci: peta konsep, makna pembelajaran, geografi.

Abstract

One of classic education‘s problem in Indonesia is the teacher distribution is notspread evenly. This problem that happened mainly at isolated area, had emphasizedteacher to teach more than one lesson, moreover to teach more than one class. Thiskind of teaching called multi grade teaching (MGT) or it was known as multi classteaching in Indonesia. The characteristic of this teaching identified when teacherteached two or more different class grade in the same room, also in the same time.MGT can be applied for the several reasons, such as geography position is difficult tobe reached, limition of class room, lack of teacher, small number of student, the absentof teacher, or maybe because of the safety factor and emergency situation that happenlike on evacuation area that impacted by disaster. The development of this modelneeds to be handled careful, starts from curriculum development and also materialdevelopment, therefore advice, examine and deep perfection by education expert stillneed to be done continuously.Kata kunci: multigrade teaching, pendistribusian, guru, tidak merata.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the physics teacher student’sconception and the reasoning of their conception regarding the acceleration of asimple pendulum. A paper-pencil test was conducted to explore their conception of theacceleration concept at this case. Thirty second-year-students were asked to specifywhether the acceleration of the pendulum is zero at the indicated points, and to specifyits direction if it is not zero. Based on the result of the test, an interview wasconducted to the students for analysing the underlying cognition (reasoning) of theiranswers. The result of this study showed that all of students could not draw thedirection of the acceleration. Additionally, there were three groups of students basedon the cognitive analysis. The first group was the most students (50%) that hadconfusion of the acceleration definition, so they were unable to interpret it properly. The second one was some students (30%) that assumed the pendulum oscillation is asa simple harmonic motion, in which the acceleration at its equilibrium point is zero. The last group was the others (20%) that considered the pendulum oscillation is as apart of an uniform circular motion, in which the acceleration is always toward thecentre.Kata kunci: analisis kognitif, percepatan, ayunan sederhana
