Jurnal Siasat Bisnis (JSB) is a peer review journal published twice a year (January and July) by Management Development Centre (MDC)-Department of Management, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Islam Indonesia. JSB) addresses the broad area of management science and its applications in industry and business. It is particularly receptive to research relevant to the practice of management within the emerging regions and its effects beyond. It covers studies on how management work is done (descriptive) and/or should be done (normative) in diverse organisational forms, either in profit or non-profit firms, private or public sector institutions, or formal or informal social networks. Abstract

Jensen (1986) said that the agency problem can be minimized by reducing the free cash flows in a company. These free cash flows can be reduced by increasing the debt or by increasing the dividend. This theory was developed in the United State of America in which most of the listed companies have a dispersed ownership structure. It is interesting to evaluate the effectiveness of this bonding mechanism for the listed companies in Jakarta Stock Exchange in which most of them have a concentrated ownership structure. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of this bonding mechanism.By investigating the same sample of listed companies in Jakarta Stock Exchange in 1996 and in 2000, this research discovers that in 1996, the debt bonding mechanism is not effective to reduce an agency problem but it increases the agency problem instead. In 2000, the debt bonding mechanism is still not effective but it does not increase the agency problem anymore. Meanwhile, the dividend bonding mechanism is effective to reduce the agency problem both in 1996 and in 2000. However, the dividend bonding mechanism is avoided by the companies that have a family ownership that closed to a minimum portion of majority or domination.Kata Kunci: Agency Problem, Bonding, Hutang, Dividen, Kepemilikan Keluarga

Abstract

This study examines the relationships between certain organizational variables and employees`perceptions of the customer service climate in their organization. The sample of study is the entire administration employee of Higher Education in Yogyakarta. The research has discovered some evidence that reward is not affecting employee`s perception toward Customer service Climate. However, it is affecting the Organizational Commitment. If the employee`s demand is accepted well by the management, then they will do the some thing to the customer. Hence, it will influence the organizational commitment. Providing sufficient Work Environment and Training able to show the institution efforts on employee`s wealth. Other evidences show that, partially, Work Design, Work Environment and Training, mediated by Organization Commitment. This evidence shows the good working design, adequate working environment and training to employee will influence the increase of organizational commitment. Thus, it will influence the employee`s perceptions towards Customer Service Climate.Keywords: customer service climate, organizational commitment, employee perceptions

Abstract

From human and cultural perspectives, it can be said that merger and aquisition (M&A) is a kind of paradoxal marriage. While its main objective is to create synergy, the reality shows it differently. Many companies that decided to enter into M&A fail to achieve its objective particularly due to human and cultural problems. Therefore, to prevent, or at least, to minimize these problems, the companies should prepare psichologically, understand each others, and conduct due dilligent including human and cultural audit before entering into the marriage. This is what this paper is trying to discuss. By discussing this topic it is expected that human and cultural variables being neglected so far, are to be considered into the M&A’s decision so that the implementation of the marriage can be run smoothly.Keywords :  merger & acquisition ( M & A),  paradoxal marriage, open marriage, traditional marriage, modern marriage

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menguji dan menganalisis pengaruh tunjangan kinerja dari aspek keadilan pada kepuasan dan kinerja PNS di BPS DIY. Secara spesifik penelitian ini menguji dan menganalisis pengaruh keadilan distributif dan keadilan prosedural pada kepuasan dari tunjangan kinerja yang diterima dan kinerja PNS di BPS DIY. Penelitian tersebut menggunakan metode sensus dengan mengambil seluruh populasi PNS di BPS DIY sebagai responden. Analisis data menggunakan SEM dengan program AMOS. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa keadilan distributif dan keadilan prosedural tunjangan kinerja berpengaruh positif pada kepuasan dan sebagian di antaranya berpengaruh positif pada kinerja PNS di BPS DIY. Hasil juga menunjukkan bahwa kepuasan tunjangan kinerja memediasi pengaruh keadilan distributif pada kinerja PNS di BPS DIY.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the effect of dividend initiations and dividend omission of stock returns in Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). Variables in this study consist of dividends, dividend announcements, and a significant stock return on dividend announcement reflected the presence of abnormal return during the event period. This study employs the company's shares listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange and are actively traded. Samples used as many as 50 companies, where 37 companies as a dividend initiation and 13 companies as a dividend omission. The sample selection was done by purposive sampling method that is research based on certain criteria. Results of analysis testing the effect of the abnormal return of dividend announcements indicate a significant influence. Announcements of dividend initiations have significant positive influence, while the announcements of dividend omissions have significant negative market reaction. That means the announcement of dividend initiations have a signal or a specific information content that causes the market to react more than normal state of the information, while the announcement of dividend omissions affect investors to remove their stock price moves down or there is a significant abnormal return.Keywords: dividend initiation, dividend omission, dividend announcement, stock return

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the influence of ownership structure on firm value of financial performance and debt policy as an intervening variable. Data used in this research is secondary data obtained from the OSIRIS database and indexes that are the result of previous research. This study used the path analysis conducted using the Eviews 6.0 and SPSS 17 programs. From the results of data analysis can be concluded that in Indonesia (1) the ownership structure proxied by insider ownership has no relationship with debt policy; (2) the ownership structure proxied by insider ownership has relationship with financial performance; (3) debt policy has not affect stock prices, as a proxy of firm value; (4) there is a positive influence on financial performance with corporate values; and (5) there is no influence of ownership structure on corporate value through debt policy and financial performance as an intervening variable.Keywords: ownership structure, firm value, debt policy, financial performanceAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh struktur kepemilikan terhadap kinerja keuangan yang mana kebijakan hutang sebagai variabel intervening. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa di Indonesia (1) struktur kepemilikan yang ditunjukkan oleh insider ownership tidak memiliki hubungan dengan kebijakan utang; (2) struktur kepemilikan yang ditunjukkan oleh insider ownership memiliki hubungan dengan kinerja keuangan, (3) kebijakan hutang tidak mempengaruhi nilai perusahaan yang diproksi oleh harga saham; (4) ada pengaruh positif kinerja keuangan terhadap nilai perusahaan, dan (5) tidak ada pengaruh struktur kepemilikan terhadap nilai perusahaan melalui kebijakan hutang dan kinerja keuangan sebagai variabel intervening.Kata kunci: struktur kepemilikan, nilai perusahaan, kebijakan hutang, kinerja keuangan

This research was established based on organizational kesesuaian hubungan theory, where in the formulation of strategic decision in manufacturing strategic must be alingment with business strategy. The higher congcruence can create higher performance. AbstractThere are many differences of opinion between the experts from other scholars when they view the development of marketing discipline although they have different backgrounds competence. But that differences of opinion helped the development of the marketing discipline is faster. This article does not attempt to enliven the debate, but rather provides another discourse by pointing out the need for better harmonization between business concepts with the operationalization of the marketing aspects, including the option of the research approach, both in the context of the development of science as well as linkages with marketing applications.Keywords: business concept, operational activities, marketing researchAbstrakPerkembangan disiplin ilmu pemasaran banyak dijumpai adanya perbedaan pendapat antara satu ahli dengan ahli yang lain, meskipun dengan latarbelakang kompetensi ilmu yang berbeda. Abstract

Reviewing employee`s performance is always “a nettlesome project” and it’s becoming even more so. Performance review typically draw a less than favorable response from employees, and for managers the process is often considered time consuming and feel uncomfortable grading their staff. However, performance review must did by all organization because it will be useful to rise organization performance.  This paper will explain some tip how to create an appraisal process that is beneficial and productive, such as develop a performance management process, design spesific and relevan appraisal, promote 360-degree model and how do staff member use their time to achieve organization’s objectives.  This paper divided into six section including describe general concept of performance appraisal, what’s the standard and criteria in appraisal process to guide reviewer and employees, how employed a productive performance appraisal in organization, new way in performance appraisal is use of time and all discussion will be concluded in the last section.Key word: productives appraisal, 360-degree feedback, use of time

Abstract

AbstractThis research discusses about debt capacity of the firms and the test of pecking order theory of non-financial firms listed at Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2006-2010. Classification of firms by its debt capacity is needed to examine the relationship between financing deficit towards long-term debt issue according to the pecking order model. The result shows that classifying firms by its debt capacity made a significant improvement of pecking order model to distinguish financing decision of the firms. Firms with high level of debt capacity prefer to issue debt than firms with low level of debt capacity when facing financing deficit.Keywords: Debt capacity, financing deficit, pecking order theory, bond ratingAbstrakPenelitian ini membahas tentang kapasitas hutang perusahaan dan menguji teori pecking order dari perusahaan-perusahaan non-keuangan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia tahun 2006-2010. Klasifikasi perusahaan dengan kapasitas hutang diperlukan untuk menguji hubungan antara defisit pembiayaan terhadap masalah hutang jangka panjang sesuai dengan model pecking order. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengklasifikasian perusahaan dengan kapasitas hutang membuat perbaikan yang signifikan terhadap model pecking order untuk membedakan keputusan pembiayaan perusahaan. Perusahaan-perusahaan dengan tingkat kapasitas hutang yang tinggi lebih memilih untuk mengeluarkan (menerbitkan) hutang dari pada perusahaan dengan tingkat kapasitas hutang yang rendah ketika perusahaan tersebut menghadapi defisit dalam pembiayaannya.Kata kunci: kapasitas hutang, defisit pembiayaan, teori pecking order
