Jurnal Siasat Bisnis (JSB) is a peer review journal published twice a year (January and July) by Management Development Centre (MDC)-Department of Management, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Islam Indonesia. JSB) addresses the broad area of management science and its applications in industry and business. It is particularly receptive to research relevant to the practice of management within the emerging regions and its effects beyond. It covers studies on how management work is done (descriptive) and/or should be done (normative) in diverse organisational forms, either in profit or non-profit firms, private or public sector institutions, or formal or informal social networks. Abstract

Globalization has created an environment where manufacturing organization must adopt and imple¬ment sophisticated manufacturing strategy if they want to stay competitive. Consideration of environment task, those forces which are out of the short run control of management, has been linked in operation management re¬search, as precursor variable that causally related to strategic choice. This research was conducted to investigate the relationship between environment uncertainty, and manufacturing strategy. Data are collected through mailed questionnaire (525 questionnaires) and direct survey to 25 firms. The total questionnaires are sent to 550 CEOs manufacturing firm in Indonesia. Hundred and six responses are returned yielding response rate 19.27%. The study finds relationship between environmental factors such as business cost, labor availability, competitive hos¬tility, and dynamism in the market, and the manufacturing strategy choices encompassed by competitive priorities. Abstract

A good marketing strategy does not always necessarily lead to successful marketing performance in an organization. It depends on how marketing people translate the strategy into action. A well formulated, but badly implemented strategy, will be effective (do the right things), but not efficient (do things right). While correct implementation of a badly formulated strategy will be efficient, but not effective. Firms need both effectiveness and efficiency to optimize their performance. This study, based on existing literature, identified a list of activities concerning the marketing strategy implementation, and investigated their nature in the process of the strategy implementation among small and medium companies in Indonesia. A tested structured questionnaire was used as a guidance in interviewing marketing managers -the respondents of the study. A total of 76 completed questionnaires were collected. Factor analysis was used to extract, if any, key dimensions across the data. This analysis resulted into four fundamental factors underlying 16 activities in marketing strategy implementation, namely commitment, consensus, evaluation and control, autonomy, and two factors representing 8 marketing performance that are financial, and strategic performances. Subsequently simple regression was performed to examine the impact of the four factors on the marketing performance. The study findings suggest that evaluation and control has greatest impact either on financial performance or strategic performance, followed by autonomy. Even though commitment and consensus influence the marketing performance, but their influences are not statistically significant.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan menganalisis instrumental network density dan expressive network density terhadap kinerja tim yang dimediasi oleh kemampuan integrasi pengetahuan tim. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode survey, sedangkan teknik sampling menggunakan non probability sampling dengan metode purposive sampling. Unit analisis berada pada level tim yang dilakukan pada tim mahasiswa KKN di Universitas Gadjah Mada dan Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Setelah dilakukan agregasi, jumlah tim yang digunakan sebanyak 37 tim dengan jumlah kuesioner sebanyak 341 kuesioner. Pengujian untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh dari mediasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis regresi linier berganda (Baron dan Kenny, 1986). Berdasarkan pengujian dan analisis data, maka diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut : instrumental network density dan expressive network density berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja tim, kemampuan integrasi pengetahuan tim tidak memediasi pengaruh instrumental network density terhadap kinerja tim, kemampuan integrasi pengetahuan tim tidak memediasi expressive network density terhadap kinerja tim.Kata kunci: Instrumental Network Density, Expressive Network Density, Kemampuan Integrasi Pengetahuan Tim dan Kinerja Tim.

Abstract

Sumber daya manusia sebagai sumber daya strategis merupakan potensi organisasi yang wujud dasarnya adalah budaya kerja dalam bentuk nilai-nilai atau sikap. Potensi organisasi (budaya kerja, nilai, sikap) harus selalu dikembangkan agar meningkatkan kinerja organisasi dalam mencapai visi, misi dan tujuan BI.Pelatihan merupakan proses yang efektif ketika organisasi ingin menciptakan/mengembangkan sikap pegawai yang sesuai untuk menghadapi perubahan. Sikap yang diperoleh lewat pengalaman menimbulkan pengaruh langsung terhadap perilaku berikutnya, dan situasi yang bebas akan memunculkan perilaku aktual sebagai cerminan sikap yang sesungguhnya. Outbound Management Training (OMT) sangat cocok digunakan sebagai pelatihan pengembangan sikap karena penggunaan metode belajar lewat pengalaman dan diselenggarakan di alam bebas agar memberi suasana bebas tanpa tekanan. Pengukuran pembelajaran dalam pelatihan menjadi salah satu permasalahan, agar OMT bisa lebih efektif untuk mengembangkan sikap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji/mengetahui penggunaan OMT sebagai media pelatihan untuk meningkatkan potensi organisasi (sikap pegawai).Potensi organisasi dalam hal ini nilai/sikap pegawai BI mengenai komitmen kepada tugas, keterbukaan dalam bersikap, kecakapan dalam bekerja, kebersamaan dalam hubungan sosial dan integritas pribadi yang tinggi, dijadikan variabel terpengaruh dan digunakan sebagai dasar untuk menguji apakah OMT sebagai intervensi individu/kelompok mampu meningkatkan/mengembangkan potensi pegawai.Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa potensi pegawai mengalami perubahan meningkat yang signifikan setelah OMT.Kata kunci: Outbound Management Training, Potensi Organisasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menguji pengaruh terhadap persepsi kualitas, nilai yang dirasakan, niat berkunjung kembali, dan dimediasi pada kepuasan wisatawan. Sampel terdiri dari 200 wisatawan yang memiliki niat berkunjung kembali ke pariwisata heritage di Bandung, Teknik sampel yang menggunakan Convenience sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui survei dengan metode kuesioner. Teknik Persamaan model struktural (SEM) adalah metode statistik yang dipilih untuk menguraikan antara variabel teramati. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kualitas yang dirasakan memiliki pengaruh signifikan positif pada nilai yang dirasakan dan niat berkunjung kembali, tetapi tidak signifikan pada kepuasan wisatawan. Nilai yang dirasakan memiliki pengaruh signifikan positif terhadap kepuasan wisatawan, dan niat berkunjung kembali. Kepuasan wisatawan memiliki efek positif dan signifikan terhadap niat berkunjung kembali.Kata Kunci: persepsi kualitas pelayanan, persepsi nilai, kepuasan wisatawan, niat berkunjung kembali.

Abstract

Reviewing employee`s performance is always “a nettlesome project” and it’s becoming even more so. Performance review typically draw a less than favorable response from employees, and for managers the process is often considered time consuming and feel uncomfortable grading their staff. However, performance review must did by all organization because it will be useful to rise organization performance.  This paper will explain some tip how to create an appraisal process that is beneficial and productive, such as develop a performance management process, design spesific and relevan appraisal, promote 360-degree model and how do staff member use their time to achieve organization’s objectives.  This paper divided into six section including describe general concept of performance appraisal, what’s the standard and criteria in appraisal process to guide reviewer and employees, how employed a productive performance appraisal in organization, new way in performance appraisal is use of time and all discussion will be concluded in the last section.Key word: productives appraisal, 360-degree feedback, use of time

Abstract

Sejumlah penelitian yang pernah dilakukan sebelumnya telah membuktikan pengaruh dari motivasi kerja karyawan terhadap kinerja perusahaan. Menurut teori-teori perbandingan sosial, motivasi sangat dipengaruhi persepsi karyawan terhadap seberapa adil mereka diperlakukan. Penelitian ini mengambil obyek salah satu perusahaan keluarga tradisional di Indonesia, dimana kegiatan sumber daya manusia yang terjadi di dalam perusahaan masih berlandaskan asas kekeluargaan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan di UD. X, maka dapat diambil simpulan bahwa Keadilan Distributif dan Interaksional berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Motivasi Karyawan, sementara hanya Keadilan Distributif yang berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap komitmen organisasional. Motivasi Karyawan terbukti mampu secara positif dan signifikan mempengaruhi Komitmen Organisasional. Isu-isu menarik lainnya juga akan didiskusikan lebih lanjut.

Abstract

This paper examines investor reaction to earnings management around seasoned equity offerings (SEO) by companies listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in the period 2005-2007. Using Jones Model modified by Dechow (1995), this research found evidence of earnings management around seasoned equity offerings. Based on managerial response hypotesis, this research analyze whether SEO announcement signals earnings management to investor. Furthermore, this research also analize investor reaction on SEO announcement and financial report around SEO. The result shows that investor failed to recognize earnings management on financial report before SEO. However, this research does not found evidence that SEO signals earnings management conducted by firms to investor.Keywords:    Earnings management, seasoned equity offerings, investor reaction, managerial response hypothesis

Abstract

The phenomenon of women working to fulfill their families’ needs in times of economic crisis is very interesting. This research focused on women co-entrepreneur who cooperated with their husbands in running their business. This research has been undertaken in Tuntang Semarang. The method of collecting data utilized descriptive statistic with questionnaire and in-depth interview with key persons. Findings examined whereas women co-entrepreneurs have barrier to operate their business like season, raw materials, financial capital and managerial, they have motivation to work due to improving their family prosperity. Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the moderating effect of distributive justice in the relationship between the forms of benefits program and job commitment. A survey research method was used to gather 150 usable questionnaires from employees who have worked in Malaysian federal government linked companies in Sarawak (MFGLS). The outcomes of testing moderating model using a hierarchical regression analysis showed two major findings: (1) distributive justice had not increased the effect of physical and safety benefits (i.e., health care, insurance, loan and claim) on job commitment, and (2) distributive justice had increased the effect of self-satisfaction benefits (i.e., promotion opportunity and training) on job commitment. This result confirms that distributive justice does act as a partial moderating variable in the benefit program models of the organizational sector sample. In addition, the implications of this study to benefit system theory and practice, methodological and conceptual limitations, and directions for future research are also discussed.
