Abstract

Title : The Degree of Erosion Hazard Mapping in Dry Land at Jatipuro Sub District of Karanganyar with Geographic Information System (GIS). This research had been conducted at Jatipuro, Sub District of Karanganyar from July until September, 2007. The aims of this research are to know degree of erosion danger and to map that degree of erosion danger. This research was descriptive-explorative by field’s survey and laboratory analysis. Soil sampling technique using purposive sampling method. Site sampling determined with land mapping unit. Analysis of erosion level using USLE method, even though to know degree of erosion dangerous used the table of relation soil depth with erosion level. To make the map degree of erosion dangerous with Arc view GIS 3.3 software. The result of this research conclude that Jatipuro, Sub District of Karanganyar can be classified into 4 erosion dangerous class, with position and width area such that very light in 6th land mapping unit with width area 8.53 ha or 1.17% from total wide of research area. Light, in 1st, 4th, 7th, 12tnd and 16th land mapping units with width area 245.36 ha or 33.72% from total wide of research area. Middle class, in 2nd, 8th, 9th, 10th, 14th, 15th, 17th and 18th land mapping units with width area 181.59 ha or 24.95% from total wide area. Heavy class, in 3rd, 5th, 11th, 13th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd land mapping units with width area 292.18 ha or 40.15% from total wide area. The management of conservation in the land with degree of erosion danger very light until light is low tillage applications, which this purpose is to create soil condition that supported growth of root, but also must be understood the result of tillage, which can be broken soil structures. For the lands with degree of erosion danger middle until heavy, the better conservation is needed. These lands needed terrace’s repairing, there are making bench terrace with middle construction for the middle class and more better terrace for the heavy one. For the best result to minimalist erosion level in this location, in terrace’s making also needed vegetative conservation, there is strip grass to strength the terrace, and also mulching. Abstract

The Variability of Soil Macrofauna on Palawija Cropping of Dry Land in The Rainfall Season. The variability of Soil macrofauna is the one of biological natural resources that very useful for the environment. Their existence affected by biotic and abiotic factors around them. Soil macrofauna variability that exists on the dry land in palawija cropping will be different from the vegetation of forest. The aim of this research is to know the effect of the palawija cropping to soil macrofauna variability on the dry land in the rainfall season. The research was conducted on November 2006‐April 2007. This research is descriptive explorative that has quantitative and qualitative ones with the field survey and laboratory analysis approach. The technique of determination sampling location based on purposive sampling system. The taking of sample has been done in 3 locations under 3 palawija cropping (maize, peanut, and soybean) as much 3 times replication in the rainfall times (December 2006‐Februari 2007). The result shows that palawija cropping influences non significantly to the macrofauna variability on the soil surface, soil macrofauna variability under soil surface and environment variables that have been observed unless to bulk density (influences significantly). The highest macrofauna variability on the soil surface occurs in maize cropping. Whether under soil surface macrofauna variability occurs in peanut cropping. There were five Ordos of macrofauna on the soil surface that found in maize cropping, Hymenoptera, Araneida, Orthoptera, Diplura, and Collembola (mesofauna). Ten Ordos of macrofauna under soil surface that found under peanut cropping were Hymenoptera, Isoptera, Oligochaeta, Diptera, Homoptera, Hemiptera, Orthoptera, Araneida, Lepidoptera and Collembola (mesofauna). It was found that dominancy of the ordo of macrofauna on the soil surface from ordo Hymenoptera in maize cropping and ordo Orthoptera in peanut and soybean cropping. The dominancy of soil macrofauna under soil surface was from ordo Hymenoptera and was found under maize and peanut cropping and Oligochaeta in soybean cropping. There were positive and negative functions of soil macrofauna. The positive ones are as a predator and decomposer of organic material. Whether the negative are as virus vector and plant disease. Key word: macrofauna variability, palawija cropping, and ordo of macrofauna

Abstract

Title : Efficiency of P Uptake by Potato in Andisols by Vermicompost Addition. Mostly potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) are planted on Andisols that have problem in phosphate fixation. The aim of this research were to know the efficiency of P fertilizing in Andisols that were added vermicompost and SP36 and to know potatoes yield in Andisol. This research was conducted at Tawangmangu, Karanganyar on October until December 2007. The method used was split plot design, as a main plot was vermicompost, i.e. no vermicompost and 10 ton.ha-1 vermicompost. Sub plot consist of four levels of P fertilizer (SP36), i.e. 100, 250, 400, 550 kg.ha-1 and control. The observation variables are available P, efficiency of P absorption, weight and diameter percentage of potato tuber. F test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and DMRT 5% test is used to analysis data. The result of this research shows that there is interaction betwen vermicompost and 400 kg.ha-1 doses SP36 to highest available P in the soil is 2.157 ppm P2O5, but there is no interaction on yield. The addition of 10 ton.ha-1 vermicompost can increase weight of potato tuber (30.83 %) and decreased percentage of potato tuber amount diameter in < 9 cm (48.05 %). Addition of 250 kg.ha-1 SP36 can increase percentage of potato tuber amount diameter in 12-15 cm (57.46%). The highest result of potato is reached on tuber diameter > 15 cm (37.16%) with 10 tons.ha-1 vermicompost additions. Keywords: vermicompost, P fertilizer, potato, Andisols
