Abstract

Combination supplementation of probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiae and MOS prebiotic applications on a laboratory scale had been performed and was able to improve survival rate, growth and immune response of Pangasius sp. against multiple pathogens. The purpose of this research was to test the effects of combination probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiae and MOS prebiotic administration on growth performance of Pangasius sp. reared in ponds (net cages 1x1x1 m3) on field scale. Fish with initial average weight 2-3 g that has been reared for 30 days was reared in fish pond in stocking density of 80 fishes/m2. This research consisted of two treatments with three replications: K treatment (without synbiotic administration) and P treatment (administration of probiotic Saccharomyces cerevisiae and MOS prebiotic for each 0.2%). The results showed that synbiotic administration was able to improve the survival rate, daily growth rate, feed conversion ratio, feed efficiency and weight gain of Pangasius sp. Keywords : Synbiotic, Pangasius sp., growth performance

Abstract

This study aims to determine the zinc (Zn) content in Rasau (Pandanus helicopus) and Bakung air (Hanguana malayana) which are the dominant water plants in the Sebangau river. The study was carried out by taking samples of roots and leaves of Rasau and Bakung air in 3 different locations. The Zn content in the sample was measured using the AAS method (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The results showed that the average Zn content of Rasau in roots was 4.40 mg / Kg and in leaves 2.10 mg / Kg. Zn content of Bakung air in roots 95.39 mg / Kg and in leaves 14.44 mg / Kg. Zn metal transfer factor in Rasau 0.467 and in Bakung air 0.152. Bakung air play a role as Zn metal accumulator plants in river waters. Key words : Zinc (Zn), Pandanus helicopus, Hanguana malayana, Sebangau river.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect utilization of banana stem with a mixture of tofu waste and bran with different compositions on the average weight and number of maggot populations. The study used different media compositions: Treatment A consists of 5 kg of dried banana stems, 3 kg of tofu waste, and 2 kg of bran. Treatment B consists of 5 kg of dried banana stems, 4 kg of tofu waste, and 3 kg of bran. Treatment C consists of 5 kg of dried banana stems, 5 kg of tofu waste, and 4 kg of bran. The results of this study indicate that the use of banana stems mixed with tofu and bran can be a medium for maggot growth. Treatment C showed better results, with the average weight of 173.8 grams and total population of 6.111 maggot than treatment A and treatment B. The statistical test results at the confidence interval of 95 % indicate that different compositions have significantly different effects on the average maggot weight and total maggot population. Keywords : composition, banana stem, maggot.

Abstract

This study aims to used duck meat as a basic ingredient in making nuggets and to discover the effect of adding fillers to the chemical quality and organoleptic value of duck nuggets. This study used a fully randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and five replications, P0 (chicken nugget), P1 (duck nugget with wheat flour), P2 (duck nugget with tapioca flour), and P3 (duck nugget with corn flour). The results of this research showed that duck meat can not substitute fully replace chicken meat as the basic ingredient when making gold nuggets. Chemical quality and level of preference for nuggets with the addition of different fillers have different values. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the quality of the chemical in the best treatment is achieved by the incorporation of wheat flour (P1). While in the results the organoleptic test of the preference on nuggets after chicken nugget was is duck nugget with the addition of tapioca flour (P2) in terms of aroma, texture and taste is given a higher value, although less preferred in terms of color. Keywords: Chemical quality, organoleptic value, duck nuggets, filler

Abstract

This study discusses the technique of spawning Snakehead fish (Channa striata) from the pre-spawning process to post-spawning in peatland media. The research was carried out in the Peatland Fish Farming, Garung Village, Jabiren Raya District, Pulang Pisau district. The research method used uses an observation method that is supported by primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained direct observation such as interviews with fish farmers and activities directly in the field, while secondary data obtained from data or information obtained directly from the source in the form of information and references that support research on Snakehead fish spawning. The type of pond used for spawning is a fiber tub pond with a size of 1x1x1 m3 and a diameter of 50 cm and a height of 70 cm, with a water level of 30 cm. The number of fish sampled was 14 by dividing each of the 7 female and male sires. The stages of spawning Snakehead fish begin with media preparation, parent preparation, parent selection, adaptation, maintenance, injection and spawning of Snakehead fish. The total number of fertilized eggs from the artificial spawning process was as much as 12,860 eggs with a mortality rate of 11% or the final yield after hatching was around 11,527 fish larvae. Keywords : Spawning, snakehead fish, injection

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of tofu waste substitution in basal feed on carcass weight and giblets weight of broiler chickens. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. If it is significant, it will be followed by Duncan's Test. This research was carried out in Practice Field of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Palangka Raya Christian University Laboratory. The results showed that the substitution of tofu waste on basal feed greatly influenced carcass and giblets weight, and there was no substitution rate of tofu waste on basal feed which could reach maximum carcass weight and giblets weight. Keywords : Tofu waste, basal feed, carcass, giblets.

Abstract

This study aims to develop alternatives for making vegetable protein based feed for the growth of African Catfish seeds (Clarias gariepinus) by utilizing flour made from Kiapu (Pistia stratiotes). This research was conducted for ± 1 month, namely from September to October 2017. The place of this research was conducted at the Laboratory of Aquaculture Study Program, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Palangka Raya. From the research that has been carried out it can be concluded that the growth rate of length and weight of African Catfish seeds during the observations showed good results. The use of kiapu flour as an addition to the Prima Feed commercial feed on the growth of African Catfish seeds shows a response to weight and length growth. However, for Fengli Fl-1 type feed, kiapu flour which is given in conjunction with Prima Feed type feed is still under Fengli Fl-1 type feed. Conversion of feed from Fengli Fl-1 commercial feed is lower than Prima Feed commercial feed mixed with kiapu flour. Keywords : Additional feed, kiapu flour, African Catfish seeds.
