Abstract

Product transportationforcrude palm oil is a complex problem. The complexity is caused by the spread of the location of the oil palm plantationsand mills, the current and potential transportation network, the capacity constraint of each oil factory, the perishable characteristics of the product, the limited of port and port capacity which also depends on their geographical location and the supply fluctuation from plantationsto the factories due to their age. This paper will give an alternative solution which has not yet discussed in the earlier publications by providing a decision alternative related to product transportation from oil mills to ports using GIS based network analyst. The solution is a decision support system that integrate GIS and shortest path model. Spatial decision support system which has built have the capability to accomodate transportation network condition to find the best path from oil mills to the portswhich can be used for further decision making. This research shows that the short distance is not always as the fastest path and the lowest cost due to the condition of the network. The selection of development strategy in CPO agroindustry and the improvement of transportation infrastructures will be able to improve the performance of CPO industry significantly.

Abstract

In an industry, information takes important role in every aspect involving industrial management. Inaccuracies will not only slowdown production process but also causes inefficiency in other processes. Research is conducted on supply chain performance indicators, namely product inventory level and order backlog. There are three major processes in PT Lembah Tidar Jaya Magelang, a company specializing in leather industry. These processes are Beam House Process, Retaining Process and Finishing Process. Indicator measurement for the three steps uses application of dynamic system simulation by using Based Model Order Information Sharing and Demand Sharing to understand the underlying structure that generates inventory fluctuations and order backlog size. Based on the evaluation of the system, the demand sharing model is proven to be more stable compared to the based model.

Abstract

Having strategy based on strategy formulation results does not guarantee that the strategy will be carried out. Strategies at the corporate level should also be carried out in the departments/work units in that company down to the level of the individual in charge. A method that is capable to clarify strategy from the corporate level down to the individual level. This study aims to review the implementation method build and carried out by a management consulting service company. Research results reveals that the formulated corporate strategy can be cascaded into the level of work units, therefore creating a work unit strategy map. In accordance with the description of responsibilities and job descriptions for every position holder, this work unit strategy map is descended into the individual level into an Individual Scorecard. The Individual Scorecard clearly depicts strategic aims to be achieved and its achievement is measured from fulfillment of targets in each KPI.

Abstract

The development of the manufacturing industry in a country indicates the development of the national industry. The development can be evaluated by both product quality and performance of the industry as a whole. In enhancing the competitiveness of local products, the government attempted to improve the industrys ability to produce a quality product or component. This research was conducted to determine how domestic manufacturing companies have increased their use of domestic components in producing their products. Results of the determination of the value of the domestic component level (DCL) showed that the company manufacturing clutch uses a lot of local components in the country. This is possible because when setting the value of DCL, the human resources involved in the production provided very much contribution.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L) is a valuable agro-industrial commodity for community. The demand of the commodity in Indonesia increase progressively in the few years so that shallot is one of the pre-eminent products of Bantul Regency. Delays in shallot supply from local farmers stems from various problem in supply chain which is very dynamic. This study analyzes these problems from supply chain point of view by identifying the behavior of the system and by analyzing the relationships between the components. The study, then, describe their behavior within the supply chain by using a dynamic system. We obtain that there is three basic groups : farmers, warehouse, and user. Each group plays a role in providing quality, quantity and avalaibility, post harvest technique, production cost, and selling price. These three big groups influences the others in terms of quality, quantity and shallot supply, post-harvest process, and cost and sale price.

Abstract

Fatigue is generally experienced in working as a result of employee workload. Employees at the Institution X have unique perceived workload. Their workload can lead to the onset of excessive fatigue, and leading to decrease in productivity. This study aims to determine the fatigue of employee subjectively through questionnaires that measure perceptions of fatigue felt by employees using KAUPK2, as well as the potential for fatigue using Fatigue likelihood scoring (FLS), and individual fatigue likelihood scoring (IFLS). The result of fatigue questionnaire (KAUPK2) among all 17 employees has a good value of alpha cronbach 0.8 which showed fatigue at safe levels. It indicated that men and women feel the same feelings of fatigue associated (t value = 1.75 < 2.37). It means workload given by the Institute can be tolerated by the physical and psychic abilities of employees. While the value of FLS, and IFLS in line with the results of the questionnaire – a a relatively safe level is at level 2 and level 3 for the FLS and 0 and 1 for IFLS correlation test between the two – showed no significant relationship. For dealing with risks that may occur due to employee fatigue in the future, institution may make an effort so that the employee would be more responsible for the self-recovery process. The institution could also set the working time to make sure that employee would have enough time for resting, and would identify the likelihood of excessive fatigue periodically.

Abstract

Organizational performance has always exerted considerable influence on the strategy formulation of a company. Consequently, the ways and means of accurately measuring this performance is perceived as being an increasingly important field of study for both organizations and academics alike. In order to provide an overall view of company performance, researchers have tried to combine more than one aspect of performance through the integrated performance measurement system (IPMS). In this paper, the design and analysis of this measurement system is demonstrated through an empirical study example at a metal company. The paper starts off with choosing business level in the area of performance measurement. It then goes on to specify a set of requirements of both internal and external stakeholders which performance systems should address. The requirements which are developed based on the IPMS, can be used to identify and specify key performance indicators (KPIs) of each stakeholder. Finally, the actual score of each performance measurement can be determined, and areas for future improvement are suggested.

Abstract

A recurring problem in the industry is to determine the order of machines to be used in production in order to get optimal results. The method used to solve this problem is by using a model of Budgeting Capital from Dynamic Programming. With this model each phase of the process may be called a stage and each machine is considered as a state, where each stage and the state have a mutual relationship as a whole. The model resulted is the following order of the machines, the granulator to process Meshing, Drum Rotator for Mixing, Reynold for Wet Granulation, Static Oven for Drying, Killian RUZS for Compressing and for the coating process Accelacota 48" is used. Total time used for the process is 1445 minute with a time saving of 805 minutes. The time savings enables the company to reduce production costs of machinery and wage labor costs, therefore iti si recommended that this optimal order machinery is applied in the production of Depakote in the future.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the probability of customer to switch from one brand of motorcycle to another. In this research, Markov Chains is used to analyze the switching probability. This research begins with identification of the initial marketing variables. In order to analyze brand loyalty with Markov Chains, three types of motorcycle from economic under-bone class (110-115cc) have been selected namely Absolute Revo, Vega ZR, Smash Titan and other types outside the class are used as comparison. Mann Whitney U Test is used to examine whether there are differences on marketing variables between men and women when selecting their motorcycle. The result of this research shows that the most loyal customer is in the type of motorcycle outside the economic underbone class. The most affecting variables that determine the existing motorcycle preferences is the availability of spareparts and the number of authorized service center for Absolute Revo, comfortable while driving for Vega ZR, and reliability motorcycle engine for Smash Titan and other types. The most variables that determine switching to another type of motorcycle is the product innovation. The results of Mann Whitney U test show that there are significant differences in marketing variables between male and female in existing motorcycle preferences which are motorcycle design and engine specifications.

Abstract

PT Adina Multi Wahana has a lot of machine used in the production process therefore the maintenance process must be well scheduled and does not hinder or obstruct the existing production process schedule. The current frequency of machine breakdown is quite high and the repair time is quite high. Focus of this research is to decrease machine breakdown in order not to hinder the production process and impede the production schedule. Therefore it is recommended to implement preventive maintenance scheduling using the Age Replacement method in the company. Component replacement schedule is conducted based on 3 replacement time scenarios, namely: optimal time scenario, 60 hours replacement scenario, and 120 hours replacement scenario. The calculated results show that the monthly expenses will amount to Rp 87,554,392.60 for optimal time scenario, Rp 91,637,427.45 for 60 hours replacement scenario, and Rp 75,294,381.50 for 120 hours replacement scenario.
