Abstract

Presently, the distribution system is made based on the basis of proximity to consumers, regardless of the ratio of the number of requests to vehicle capacity, as well as the raw material supply system does not consider the existing stock. The research aims to create a method of transportation that can reduce shipping costs as well as a calculating tool that can supply raw material to decide the amount of raw materials that must be provided. In this research, the distribution system design is done by using the method of Clark and Wright Saving Heuristic, while the calculating tool is created using Microsoft Excel. The resulted route generates cost savings, eliminate redundancy of visitation, and optimizing time and distance of travel. In addition, the calculating tool of raw material procurement is able to provide data on amount of materials to be prepared while considering the current stock amount.

Abstract

CV Prima Bangun Nusantara is a leather manufacturing company which is currently experiencing an increase in demand from consumers and is planning to build a new factory. Since types of product manufactured are varied and tend to fluctuate every 6 months, the layout should be designed flexible to anticipate the changes that may occur. The design begins by counting the number of machines based on the data of production lack provided by the company. The calculation of the number of machines by using a routing sheet is to determine the number of machines suitable for the new factory. After that is creating a relationship among the departments shown in ARD whichis then used to calculate the cost of material handling (CMH). The calculations show that the value of CMH for “by process” is Rp.948.505, while the fractal is Rp.905.413. The layout of the fractal generates smaller CMH value by a margin of 5% or as much as Rp.43.092. To better see the difference in the two layouts, a test is done by changing the data of product types and volume created (in accordance with the conditions of the company, in which the type and volume of products made may be changed every 6 months). The CMH value for “by process” layout is Rp.407.283 and for the fractal one is Rp.247.745. The fractal layout generates smaller CMH value with a difference as much as Rp.159.538 or 39%.

Abstract

Effective fuzzy front planning end in product development phase is very important steps to achieve successful product in the market. Success in ergonomics is not only determined by the design itself, but also by the time and cost incurred. Some of the contributing factors to the high cost of the product are lack of ergonomics skill of designer that lead to the trial and error nature of constructing the ergonomics product. Innovation ability of designer in small medium enterprise is often restricted by the fact that designer have lack knowledge of ergonomics. This difficulty can be reduced significantly with the application of concurrent engineering method supported by virtual prototype based CAD (computer aided design) and CAE (Computer Aided Ergonomics). We can integrate ergonomics with product design optimization and anthropometric parameter for suitable target market prior to production. Also we can anticipate all potential injuries caused by humanproduct interaction during use. Effective product planning is expected to contribute to lower production cost, to cross the innovation border, and boost up Company’s competitive advantage.

Abstract

Nowadays inventory management has become a major concern for company because it can bring value added. Inventory management focuses on maintaining and managing the inventory level in order to fulfill the customer’s demand with the lowest cost. In retailing and wholesaling, multiple items from the same supplier are jointly ordered. It means that the order interval of each item must be the same. However, there are several manufacturing companies that have not achieved the optimum solution in inventory management for multiple items. It leads them to increase the total inventory cost which are most caused by improper order interval. Thus, appropriate inventory management may reduce the total inventory cost. This research tried to identify this problem. The first step that should be done was identifying the problems, scopes, and objectives of the research aimed to minimize the inventory control management. After that we collected data and analyzed the supported data in inventory management using the total inventory cost analysis as a parameter in comparing the actual system and the proposal system. This research also implemented forecasting methodology to predict the future demand. In the final section, we implemented the economic order interval in order process for determining the optimum order interval. The result showed that the proposal system can reduce the total inventory cost over 21% from the current condition.

Abstract

Call center service is a separated business unit in PT XYZ, a fast food industry company, which served product information and delivery order. Regarding this business unit is also the profit center, so the usage of call center service as outbound call seems to help increasing company’s profit. The research is done to see the function of new service in cost and estimated probable profit. The probable profit is based on payback period and rate of return of the additional project service. The result showed that there are 95.039 calls in a month that means about 9.504 data could be used for telesales, plus 2.851 additinal continuous calls. From the total calls in a month need to be invested to add position and additional telecommunication equipment for 10 positions. Based on the cost analysis and estimated earnings, payback period from this period is about 1 year 7 months in the amount of RoR for 3 years according to position level age as 53,7%.

Abstract

Production quality is a very critical element in the pharmaceutical industry. One of the methods used to increase product quality is to decrease error factors and product defects, which can have a bad impact on the final product quality. Method DMAIC as an improvement model for Six Sigma is used to analyze required repairs. Striping process that took place has a good performance with 5:05 and DPMO Sigma level of 67. However, the process is not in statistical control (the process is unstable) due to variations in the number of existing defects. To reduce product defects, the company needs to conduct a more optimal scheduling to minimize WIP. Based on calculations using the fuzzy method, initial settings for the machine must be done well to guard temperature changes during operation of the machine, to keep it below the machine initial setting limit (80-110 ° C).

Abstract

Customers nowadays demand high quality, affordable cost and fast and accurate delivery, which has pressurised the industry to make adjustment in order to meet customer needs. PT Adyawinsa Dynamics as one of the manufacturing industry engaged in the manufacture of dies, molding, and stamping, also strives to improve in meeting customer demands by referring to the Toyota Production System. Improvements can be done in the companys production system by planning a production plan based on the heijunka concept which is the foundation / basis of the implementation of the Toyota Production System. Problems occuring in the production line are consumer demand that always change, and unavailability of appropriate production control tools to cope with fluctuations in demand for parts and good control of production planning. Results of analysis shows decrease in stock since production will be run if there is demand from customers, and responding to customer needs can be quickly met.
