Abstract

PD Sandang Jaya is a garment industry that produces products by order. PD Sandang Jaya realizes how important production processes to meet product demands and increase productivity. Thus, this research goal is to increase productivity by maximizing the existing production on production floor, so that the continuity of material flow can run smoothly in the production process. This research emphasizes on the production line which is always be an outstanding problem within the company. Line balancing method is used to improve the performance of any existing production process on the production floor by calculating the standard time and regulating the flow of production process on each line. By using Helgeson Birnie-line balancing method, the efficiency of production process increases to 90,38% and 9,62% for balanced delayed. By using Helgeson Birnie, each of production lines becomes more efficient. Some changes also occur in the Ws where Ws proposal is divided into three Ws. Ndeed, it will facilitate the flow of materials to make the process works. After calculating line balancing, labor allocation should be determine to decide quantity of total production. Total production obtained in this research is 113 units per day. Thus, total production for 30 days is 3.390 units or 282 dozen increasing from 3.000 units. Base on line balancing method, labor productivity increases from 214,8 to 250.

Abstract

Welded joints of the zirconium pipe were widely used in the chemical industry or nuclear facility because their high mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance of zirconium material. To improve the mechanical properties of welded joint a method of TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding with a suitable welding parameters were necessary used. Evaluation of strength and microstructure of the welded joint will be used to improve the quality, strength and process technology. This paper described the evaluation of the hardness, strength and microstructure of the TIG welded joint of Zircalloy- 2 pipe. The welding was done for two kinds of samples using the welding machine of the M80-3 model of the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) type, with the welding current of 30 and 35 Ampere/ second respectively. The hardness test was done by using the Vickers hardness scale. Testing of welded joint strength was carried out using the hydrostatic test by measured the change of pipe diameters and observed the pipe brake according to the internal pressure of 100, 200, 400 and 425 bars given into the pipe, and the microstructure test was observed by using the optical microscope. The hardness test showed that the maximum hardness number of 203 VHN was occurred at the heat affected zone (HAZ) area obtained. The result of hydrostatic test showed that there was not a change on the dimensions in the welded area up to internal pressure test of 400 bars.

Abstract

Human circadian system causes employees on night shift are at risk of experiencing increased stress, increased workload. Additionally, they should face the consequences of different health condition compared to employees who work on a normal shift during the day. This paper discussed the size of stress levels of employees who work in a night shift system based on (1) workload and (2) health condition, as well as (3) employee’s biological, social, and psychological condition. Other studies have shown that support from company can help employees cope with stress. The support is like management facilities, such as support from supervisor to subordinate, and training support to improve necessary skills. Thus, besides the size of employee stress levels, this study also discusses the relation of company support as stress management. The result is a measurement model of stress level obtained based on Likert scale of 5. In this model, work shift stressors are measured by self-perception of self-satisfaction by the work shift. For occupational health perception, SF-36 is used to measure self-perception of health quality. As for the workload, the measurement of four resources at works using the scale of visuality, audiotory, cognitive, and psycomotor. The implication shows that this stressor measurement scales need to be tested to see the reliability and validity of the work environment in Indonesia, as well as to test the correlation between the variables used with management facilities received by employees.

Abstract

Planning and controlling of production is one of main activity in every industry including bottled tea industry. Planning and control enabled the industry to determine how many bottle tead must be produced, how many workers needed, how many stock should be kept and how much cost spent (production cost, stock cost, worker cost and overtime cost). In order to do this a prediction must be created. One of methods that may be used is by using artificial neural networks that the performance of the networks is valued by root value from the average of Root Mean Square Error/RMSE. Production planning and controlling of bottled tea, until now is made based on problem function that has a certain limit. In fact, there are many factors that may influence the problem function therefore decreasing accuracy.. This paper discusses an alternative solution of production planning with a model in linear fuzzy programming. Results show RMSE value at 0.0399 and value of λ 0.4994803.

Abstract

Sophisticated machinery can only demonstrate its superiority during the production process, while its operation and maintenance still depend on human skills and a good maintenance system. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) can be applied to raise company productivity without abandoning scheduled machine maintenance. The purpose of this research is to improve the productivity of production on line stitching. The method used to increase the productivity of production is to calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), using the histogram of downtime, regression equations and correlation, the calculation of the cost of downtime, and analysis of the causes using a Plan, Do, Check, Action (PDCA). The survey results revealed the low productivity of the OEE calculation of 68.12%, due to the often damaged machine and duration of repairs. These in turn is caused by the lack of machinery maintenance, and unavailability of spare-part. To increase the percentage of OEE it is recommended to apply Autonomous Maintenance, building a spare-parts warehouse in every factory, increasing the number of stand-by engines, and provide training on procedures for the use of machinery in accordance with the appropriate Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).

Abstract

Standardization have moved rapidly following the development of science and technology and the need of trade. So that, to facilitate trade and to protect domestic consumers, we need supply or standards appropriately, such as study of new area of standardization with international standard and SNI development approach. The determination of priority of new area of standardization to be done by analysis the standards growth, use the same ICS, compare with the growth of international standards (ISO & IEC) versus SNI. The growth is measured by the growth curve slope during year 1991-2007, with slope more than 50% is meant high. Several new area of standardization from the study include Information technology, Sinematography, Radiation, and medical laboratorium science.

Abstract

An important problem in manufacturing industry is the lack of capacity calculation in the planning of production. In addition, there are a lot of Work in Process (WIP) the production floor, subsequently increasing length of waiting time in manufacturing. The authors proposed the implementation of an integrated system of planning priorities and capacities in the MRP II system (Manufacturing Resource Planning) with the Kanban system to solve this problem. MRP II systems’ priority and capacity planning included capacity calculation to evaluate existing planning priorities, and applied Kanban system in the production floor will pull products when necessary. The actual system of Soho and Kanban system will be simulated with ProModel software to help understanding and analysis. From the results, this study concluded that with MRP II system’ priority and capacity planning, companies can plan production according to the design capacity, and the plan can be executed fairly well on the production floor with the Kanban system thereby reducing WIP and manufacturing waiting time on the production floor.

Abstract

Yuraku Restaurant in Kelapa Gading area which opens only from 6 p.m to 10 p.m., is very famous for its good taste. Yuraku is also well known for its service system in which the server it self will serve the food for the customer, so that they don’t have to serve their own food. The research aims to develop a simulation model from the real system currently employed at Yuraku Restaurant. The research consisted of four main steps namely description model, conceptual development model, input data analysis, and simulation modeling. During input data analysis, homogenity test using Kruskal Wallis test and distribution fitting were conducted. Output of ARENA simulation allowed a deeper understanding of the real condition of Yuraku’s system. It is shown that the system performance of Yuraku restaurant is good enough, though some improvements are needed in the long term.
