Abstract

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on August 8, 1967, when foreign ministers of five countries, consisting of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, met in Bangkok and signed the ASEAN Declaration. The regional grouping has made the most progress in economic integration, aiming to create an ASEAN Community by 2015. Recently, the Member Countries of the ASEAN have accepted the concept of ASEAN Connectivity, which emphasized on the three pillars regional cooperation of security, socio-cultural, and economic integration. In particular, ASEAN Connectivity is expected: (1) to enhance trade, investment, tourism, and development, (2) to narrow development gaps, and (3) to facilitate people-to-people contacts. As a preparation to adapt with a new system, Indonesia is geared to improve its domestic connectivity as a prerequisite of regional connectivity. In Indonesia’s view, regional connectivity should help empower and develop the local economies, as an effort to narrow the development gaps within ASEAN. To fulfill these goals, Indonesia needs to strengthen its physical connectivity through better transportation infrastructure. However, to support trade facilitation, good transportation infrastructure alone is not sufficient. It needs to be enhanced with ICT infrastructure, which is crucial in supporting trade facilitation through its ability to facilitate information exchange and to reduce the cost of doing business. This paper aims to explore how Indonesia’s domestic connectivity coops with the concept of ASEAN connectivity. Some data and various existing policies in their effort to accomplish ASEAN connectivity will be explored. With the new legal framework in ICT and transportation, the performance of the ICT and transportation system in Indonesia is expected to ameliorate, hence supporting the development of other sectors, and this will ultimately lead to the realization of ASEAN Connectivity. Keywords: ASEAN connectivity, domestic connectivity, economic integration, transportation policy, ICT infrastructure.

Abstract

Ojek (motorcycle paratransit) is one form of paratransit in Indonesia, using a motorcycle rented by a person and gives the person a lift. By evaluating the feasibility of ojek services, the sustainability of ojek as a mode of transportation in a rural area can be determined. This research was conducted on ojek services in Wonogiri, Central Java Province. The results indicate that the investment of ojek services for rural areas is feasible to be implemented because it meets the feasibility criteria used in the analysis. The prospect of the existence of ojek in the rural areas in the future is also quite good and is expected to take place for long time, especially in areas with limited formal employment, relatively low education level of job seekers, and low-wage workers. Keywords: paratransit, ojek, rural transportation, feasibility analysis.

Abstract

AbstractVehicle speed has been identified as a key factor in road traffic accidents, which affects the risk of traffic accidents and the severity of the victim. Vehicle speed contributes to accidents when the vehicle speed is higher than the permitted speed limit or higher than that of a certain condition. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between speed and severity of the victim of traffic accident using the Power and Depkimpraswil Models. The results indicate that the Power Model gives a greater influence at speeds higher than 90 km / hour. Keywords: vehicle speed, traffic accidents, accident risk, victims of accidents. Kata-Kata kunci: kecepatan kendaraan, kecelakaan lalulintas, risiko kecelakaan, korban kecelakaan.

Abstract

Traffic congestion on the road occurred when travel demand exceeds the capacity of the road. This study aims to estimate and develop a model of congestion costs for private car users in the area of Jalan Malioboro, Yogyakarta, with a length of 1.414 km. The study was limited to the congestion charge for private car users only. The results show that the generalized cost of private car transportation on the actual conditions in the Malioboro area, Yogyakarta, is Rp. 5,513.77 per trip and on the conditions of free flow speed is Rp. 2,598.78 per trip, so that the congestion charge for private car users in this region is Rp. 2,914.99 per trip. The form of congestion charge model for private car users in the area of Malioboro, Yogyakarta, is an exponential function, with the lower the actual traffic speed, the greater the cost of traffic congestion caused. Keywords: congestion charge, private car, the combined cost of transportation, vehicle operating costs, the cost of travel time.

Abstract

The river provides a natural potential as a medium of movement for water vehicles such as boat or ship. Especially for the transport of goods, the revitalization of river transport can play an important role in load reduction in land transport by truck, so as to reduce the acceleration of road damage caused by truck traffic loads. To implement the river transport revitalization in the Province of Lampung, it is required the design and production of ships that have special characteristics that are suitable for a wide but shallow river.Key words: river transportation, load of land transportation, road damage, ship design.

Abstract

The waste of sawdust ash available in Ternate, North Maluku Province, has the potential to be used as material for making asphalt concrete mixtures. In this study, the waste of sawdust ash was used to make a mixture of type B Hot Rolled Sheet Asphalt Concrete (HRS). The results showed that sawdust ash has the potential to be used as the filler material in the mixture of type B HRS. It was shown also that the voids in mixture of the type B HRS in this study were very high, which could reduce the durability of the mixture. The use of sawdust ash has also the potential to produce cheaper mixtures.Key words: sawdust ash, hot rolled sheet, voids in the mix, durability.
