Abstract

Sanggu Lake Tourism Area, located in South Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan, plays an important role in providing green open space for recreational and relaxation activities. The lack of management and changes in building orientation reduce the quality of the site and pose threats to environmental damage. Therefore it is necessary to redesign the waterfront area with an ecological approach to reduce environmental impact. The purpose of this research is to identify site character, analyze the potential and constraints on the site, to develop an ecological design concept, and to ecologically design the Sanggu Lake Tourism Area based on the waterfront concept. The stages of the research include the process of preparation, inventory, analysis and synthesis, and design. Collecting data through surveys, literature studies, interviews, and questionnaires. The basic concept of the research is "Ranu Welum" or Water of Life which is revealed to be 3 basic values, namely socio-cultural center, ecological park, and recreational waterfront. The design concept is taken from the typical Dayak motif, namely "Batang Garing" or the Tree of Life and implemented in spatial patterns, circulation, and vegetation. Ecological design is applied by implementing ecological principles based on community preferences. The results of the study are area redesign consisting of reception zones, tourist zones I, tourist zones II, relaxation zones, play zones, exercise zones, and service zones.

Abstract

Pesanggrahan Ambarrukmo is one of the historical legacies of the Keraton Yogyakarta which has a unique spatial pattern, historical and socio-cultural value. As a heritage building, it faces physical changes following the construction of the Ambarrukmo Plaza and the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel’s renovation. This study aims to determine the changes in spatial patterns before and after the construction of Ambarrukmo Plaza and the renovation of the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel (2004 - 2021). The research method in this study is qualitative with a cultural studies approach and the triangulation methods in the form of interviews, observations and documentation combined with literature study. Physical changes occurring in Pesanggrahan Ambarrukmo have reduced the semi-sacred and profane areas as well as profane areas’ open green spaces, while the sacred area is not affected. Plaza Ambarrukmo and Hotel Royal Ambarrukmo managed to be a buffer space for Pesanggrahan Ambarrukmo. The changes of Pesanggrahan Ambarrukmo as an effort to maintain its existence are the most appropriate way in this modern era. The role of the managements, government, and community are necessary to preserve Pesanggrahan Ambarrukmo.

Abstract

Jl. MH Thamrin is a street canyon area that is experiencing global warming, and has minimal vegetation to shade road users. This study aims to describe attributes of thermal comfort at Street Canyon, Jl. MH Thamrin at different green open space densities. Data collection was carried out by observing for 3 days using a thermohygrometer, anemometer data logger, DJI Thermal Drone, mini weather station. The collected air temperature and humidity data are analyzed by THI. The measurement results showed that air temperature data in non-dense area was higher than dense area, with a total average of 31,12°C and 30,27°C. It is different with the humidity which turns out to be more humid in dense areas (62,69%) than in non-dense areas (62,16%). This difference occurs because trees are able to reduce incoming sunlight thereby creating a humid atmosphere. The magnitude of the wind speed in dense areas is 1,41m/s, while for non-dense areas data is lower, namely 0,99 m/s. Surface temperature data is much hotter than air temperature. The lowest surface temperature in the non-dense area is around 26,95°C, while the highest surface temperature is 39,1°C. Likewise, the dense area segment has a maximum surface temperature of 33,9°C with a minimum surface temperature of 26,1°C. Furthermore, through the THI analysis it is known that the two segments are classified as uncomfortable. The highest THI is in non-dense areas 31°C, and 30,1°C in dense areas. It can be concluded that Street Canyon, Jl. MH Thamrin doesn’t have good thermal comfort in both areas.

Abstract

As an open space, parking area have potential to reducing the urban temperature in micro scale through its landscape elements, especially the softscape and vegetations. This study will identify the potential of 2 tourism parking areas in Bengkulu city in contributing to reducing urban temperature through their landscape elements arrangement. Site observation was conducted to collect all landscape physical elements, as well as vegetation (trees) dimension which then will be simulated through ecotect software to calculate the shadow area. Result of the study showed that landscape condition in both of parking area is in good condition but does not have the potential in reducing urban temperature. It can be happened because the shading area provided from the arrangement of big trees in both parking areas is still deficient. However, Pantai Panjang BIM parking area have a bigger chance in reducing urban temperature if some softscape elemenst were added and other hardscape elements were equipped to be a well design landscape for parking area.

This study uses a survey method with descriptive and quantitative analysis data collection techniques using the KPI (Key Performance Index) method. The assessment of this study are divided into 4 (four) assessment indicators, which are : location, accessibility, vegetation and facilities. The results of the study shows that vegetation is the indicator with the highest rating and accessibility is the indicator with the lowest values. Overall, the selected city parks are quite friendly to the elderly, but several aspects need to be considered to make the parks more friendly to the elderly.
