Abstract

Tulisan ini mengemukakan hasil penelitian metode tekanan pada dua varietas kelapa dengan bahan pengawet senyawa boron. Bagian lunak batang kelapa basah pada dolok kesatu, kedua dan ketiga berukuran 5 cm x 10 cm x 100 cm diawetkan dengan cara proses sel penuh (FCP) dan metode tekan berganti (APM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua varietas dan letak dolok dalam batang kelapa dapat diawetkan dengan cara tekanan. Dari penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa retensi bahan pengawet yang dihasilkan dengan cara tekan berganti (APM) (11,06 kg/m3 dan 9,44 kg/m3) berbeda dengan yang dihasilkan dengan cara sel penuh (FCP) (4,45 kg/m3 dan 4,74 kg/m3) pada kelapa dalam dan kelapa hibrida.

Abstract

Besides being used as raw material for food industries sago flour has also been know as a staple food in riau province. The utilization of sago for industrial input as well as for staple food will encourage the development of agro based industry wich in turn would lead to the improvement of sago farmer’s income.Based on this study,cost of sago plantation, harvesting and transportation of sago stem to the processing plant was Rp 1.074.500,- per ha absolute margin received by farmer amounted Rp. 119.187,50 per ha per year (rotation period was 8 years)Average processing costs of converting saho stem to sago flour amounted to Rp. 256.685,- per ton (wet sago flour) so that absolute margin received by sago processing plant in average was Rp. 134.315,- per ton, while the selling price at factory in Cirebon was Rp. 425.000,- per ton sago flour.Benefit cost ratid analysi show that net benefit cost ratio 1.33 and gross benefit cost ratio 1.44 and profitability ratio 1.61 show that further development of sago utilization in riau provice is economically feasible.

Abstract

Oil type  of forest areaB in Indonesia is dominated by  c"lay.  This soil is poor. when used a  forest road construction material but its engineering properties can be improved by certain treatments.C"lay soils can be used aB binding materialaof wearing course construction. An investigation wa. carried out, using the mi:cture of soil, lime and crushed rock with the following results: 1. Lime haB a highly significant influence on the binding strength of materaUfor wearing course of forest road& It proportion is 1~  on weight bas~.                                    2. According to laboratory test, the use of cruthed rock has a highly significant influence on wearingcource  tre"lth.Percentagesof separated materials at 0%. 2590. 50% and 75% cmshed rock mixture are 1,0%. 2,5%, 26,B'foand 66.5%reapectively.3. Abstract

Tanaman jabon (Anthocephallus cadamba Miq.) sudah banyak ditanam oleh masyarakat sebagai bahan alternatif untuk keperluan bangunan dan mebel. Kayu jabon memiliki dua kelemahan, yaitu tidak kuat (termasuk kelas kuat IV) dan tidak awet (kelas awet V). Untuk meningkatkan sifat kekuatan kayu jabon dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pembuatan papan komposit kayu jabon laminasi bambu atau papan jabon laminasi bambu (PJLB). Bambu yang digunakan adalah bambu mayan (Gigantochloa robusta Kurz) dan bambu andong (Gigantochloa pseudoarundinaceae (Steudel) Widjaja). Kayu jabon dan bilah bambu andong dan bambu mayan yang digunakan untuk membuat PJLB direndam dalam larutan boron 7% hingga mencapai target retensi 6 kg/m3. PJLB dibuat dengan empat macam komposisi lapisan, menggunakan perekat isosianat dengan berat labur 250 g/m2 permukaan, dikempa dingin dengan lama pengempaan satu jam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kualitas kayu jabon akibat rekayasa PJLB dan pengaruh jumlah lapisan bambu tersebut terhadap sifat PJLB. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas PJLB secara nyata dipengaruhi oleh jumlah lapisan bambu, kecuali keteguhan rekatnya. Pelapisan bambu pada kayu jabon (PJLB) telah meningkatkan nilai kerapatan sebesar 10%, modulus elastisitas (MOE) 71%, modulus patah (MOR) 34% dan keteguhan tekan 20% dibanding kayu jabon tanpa laminasi. PJLB memiliki sifat mekanis atau kekuatan setara dengan kayu kelas kuat III.

Abstract

The investigation of three concessionaires in Kalimantan practicing the trial of Indonesian Strip Cutting and Planting System was conducted in 1994. All the companies are in the early stage of the trial and, therefore, the focus of investigation is limited to trial preparation and timber harvesting with the aim of describing the real practices and various problems faced in the field.It is found that the productivity of each activity in preparation and timber harvesting in the Indonesian Strip Curing and Planting System (A) is lower than those in the Indonesian Selective Cutting and Planting System (B). The comparison of several productivities are as follows : (I) Felling: 47 cu. m/day forA and 85 cu. m/day for B: (2) Skidding : 37 cu.m/day for A and 85 cu.m/day for B; (3) Loading-unloading : 55 cu.m/day for A and 150 cu.m/day for B; (4) Hauling :. 50 cu.m/trip forA and 64 cu.m/trip for B. The above figures and observation in the field lead to the notion of several problems faced such as : (1) in matching the required strip direction and real field condition ; (3) improper skill of workers; (4) unsuitable wage system; (5) inability to utilize the small diameter logs; (6) too large cable used for skidding; (7) too large log clamp available on loader tractor: (8) difficulty in handling small diameter logs onto logging truck; and (9) high percentage of land area disturbed due to large equipment and strip width limitation.The trial is still in the early stage and the information is very limited and therefore, further investigations is strongly recommended to cover more locations and aspects so that the final results can be used by the authority to make sound conclusions in selecting the final arrangement of the Indonesian Strip Cutting and Planting System.

Abstract

The KPH2 a type of equipment for wood loading into truck was designed by Forest Engeenering and Forest Harvest Divition Forest Products Research Centre Bogor. An operation trial has been done in BKPH Gunung hatu, Bandung Selatan Forest District, Perum Perhutani Unit III West Java.The objective of this study is to see the productivity and operation cost of loading rasamala log ( Altingia excelsa) into truck. using a helper KPH2 and by manual system.The results showed that productivity of KPH2 equipment and manual were 0.02 m3 minute/m and 0,04 m/minute/m, with operation cost of Rp 18.523,00/m3 and Rp 2.000,00/m3 respectively.

Abstract

The anatomy of 9 wood species belonging to genera of Dryobalanops was studied, described and then compared. Dryobalanops rappa Becc differ from others in the absence of silica body in rays cell.Although the morphology of D. oocarpa V.SI. and D. abnormes V.SI. respectively can be grouped to D. beccarii Dyer and D. oblongifolia Dyer, but the anatomy of those wood species differ from each other. Whereas D. oocarpa V.SI. has rays 2 - 5 seriate-in width and 79.84 + 0.23 micron in diameter, D. beccarii Dyer has rays 1 - 3 seriate in width and 51.94 ± 0.12 micron in diameter. D. abnormes V.Sl. has rays 1 - 3 seriate in width and 53.68 + 0.20 micron in diameter, D. oblongifolia Dyer has rays 2. - 5 seriate in width and 76.89 + 0.23 micron in diameter.A tentative identification key of 9 wood species of Dryobalanops is presented.

Abstract

Wood processing  in Indonesia, especially  sawmilling  industries  have  been  increased  in the  last decade. Until 1985, about  295  sawmilling  industries   with  the production capacity  of  more  than 8,500,000 m3/year  have been installed.  These industries  have contributed   to  Indonesian   foreign  exchange  of  US$ 1,800.37  million.  In their  operations the problem of ergonomics,  such  as high noise   levels  has not  considered  yet.An   investigation  was conducted in  two  saw milling industries  in South Kalimantan   with  the  results  as follows   :Noise  level  in  the  second   industry   was  varied  from 96  to  102  dB(A),   and  in  the first  industry   was ranged from 92 to 94  dB(A).   This  difference   is due  to differences   in the  machine  lay out  and  working  space design.  Both  levels are higher than  the maximum   tolerable  noise level of 85 dB(A).Noise protection  means for workers  in the first industry  are not  required  for the time  being,  but  in  the second  industry they  are strongly  recommended.

Abstract

Ada dua kelemahan utama yang perlu diperbaiki dari uji coba Expo-2000 tahun 2005 lalu yaitu 1) drum balik (haulback drum) memerlukan sistem pengunci yang lebih kuat dan 2) katrol penghantar kabel sering masuk di antara rol katrol. Pada tahun 2006, perbaikan drum penarik balik kereta muatan kayu dilakukan dengan membuat model sistern rem cakram, sehingga ekstraksi kayu dapat dilakukan ke arah atas maupun ke arah bawah lereng dan juga dibangun katrol kecil untuk menggantikan katrol lama. Dari perbaikan itu Expo-2000 mencapai produktivitas cukup baik sekitar 5-19 m3.hm/jam tergantung jarak, ukuran kayu, kondisi permukaan lapangan dan kerapatan tegakan. Dengan investasi sebesar Rp 100 juta hasil analisis memperlihatkan biaya pemilikan dan operasi pengeluaran kayu mencapai Rp 60.175/jam atau biaya produksi sebesar Rp 11.620/m3. Dengan suku bunga bank 18%/tahun dan proyeksi biaya 6 tahun, perhitungan bila ada kenaikan biaya operasi 10% mengakibatkan adanya penurunan pendapatan, yang tercermin dari nilai NPV maupun IRR yang akan menjadi positif pada sewa alat Rp 25.000/ m3, padahal bila tidak ada kenaikan, dengan biaya sewa alat Rp 22.500/m3 pun NPV dan IRR sudah positif.

Abstract

The logging impact on wood harvesting operation at natural forest is an important element that should be pay attention by all people to get sustainable forest management. This information is needed in order the forest damaged can be maintained to achieve health forest recovery of the togged forest area and high potency, so we can do the next harvest with a similar volume and quality or even more. That is our hope and sustain continuously.To achieve this, the criteria and size of threshold forest damages is required. There is 3 main group of damages to be known i.e. threshold of residual stand damage, threshold of forest soil damage and threshold of micro climate.Based on consideration that in the reality in general was found logging impact still high so because globally in the world asking logging with friendly it is essential to provide a limit of forest damage. Some activities that may produce heavy forest damage was road construction, felling, skidding and log yard establishment.
