Abstract

Generally a vehicle moving against fluid stream will get aerodynamic force. A vehicle must have a high performance to be up against aerodynamic force, these forces will effect its response and stability especially when the vehicle running fast. Stability parameter is determined by the value of lift coefficient or Cl of vehicle. In addition, it is also expected to have minimum drag coefficient or CD. The value of both coefficients can be described through flow characteristics around the vehicle. Aerodynamic force is most affected by drag force and lift force that dependent to the vehicle contour. The aerodynamic performance can be controlled by modifying the characteristic of the vehicles, either one is modifying vehicle body. This study learns adding naca 0015 back spoiler to the Mercedes Benz slk 320. A model type sedan of 1 : 18 scale is tested on wind tunnel under conditions velocity flow 8 m/s, 10 m/s, 12 m/s, 14 m/s, 14 m/s, 16 m/s, 18 m/s and angle of airfoil 00, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250. by adding naca 0015 back spoiler to the Mercedes Benz SLK 320 vehicle will reduce the drag force and lift force so it gets a better characteristic aerodynamic performance. Pressure distribution of the flow was observed centre line of upper and beside right and left of the model vehicle. Result of the experiment indicated that instalment of spoiler NACA 0015 did not influence significantly the pressure distribution on the model. And the result of this research shows that additional accessory has a unique effect on the aerodynamic force

Abstract

Artificial Neural Network is one of algorithms that is often used in intelligent system. These algorithms build a system based on biology Artificial Neural Network which is similar to human brain in solving a problem. Many applications based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) have been developed in all areas especially in Pattern recognition. One of ANN is back propagation that is supervised learning. This training process is done by upgrading also achieving some targets. The implementation of character pattern recognition is as an application for pattern character recognition from A-Z which function to analyze sample data in image form (BMP file) that will be changed into grayscale. These conversion will produce character in document that gives benefit for process information in text that has already saved in images so that it can be edited or erased based on user needs.

Abstract

Orchard Gondanglutung, Donoharjo, Ngaglik, Sleman, Yogyakarta represents a high population region with a lot of garbage that pollutes environment. The writer is very interested in handling the problem by doing this research entitled. The Incinerator of Domestic Garbage with Clay.The method used factor of efficiency of processing or wet garbage draining and dry garbage combustion and to the number of ash yielded and also combustion chamber by using proper technological appliance utilize the combustion of domestic garbage with clay. Result of research showed the highest combustion and draining efficiency were garbage with 0,5 kg weight with the combustion efficiency 92,06 %, while wet garbage with 3,5 kg weight combustion efficiency was 35,23%.From the research It can be concluded that the greater volume of garbage in the draining and combustion process will decrease combustion efficiency.

Abstract

Based on the previous research it can be seen that the load of a distribution transformer which was sinked in water showed that the THDF value is greater than one, and this is an advantage to optimize the use of the transformer.This research analysed the effects of the increase temperature in load at the transformator distribution. The effects of harmonic were calculated based on the de-crease of the performance of the transformator, i.e. operating capacity of the trafo that is called THDF (The Transformer Harmonic Derating Factor). The results of the experiment showed that the increase of the temperature was not significant to the THDF. The water that was asummed as a cooling media was not true. it was a media to increase the quality of grounding system that can reduce the effect of harmonic in transformator distribution.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to discover the pressure distribution as well as flow patterns taking place at a U-pipe bend with the elbow angle (j) of 180o and oblique angle variations (q) of 0o or horizonta. The study was conducted using air-glycerine flow at room temperature (27oC – 30oC). Air flow rates have four variations (2,3599E-05; 3,9331E-05; 5,5064E-05; 7,0796E-05) m3/s and glycerine flow rates have five variations (4,101E-04; 4,921E-04; 5,741E-04; 6,561E-04; 7,381E-04) m3/s. At first, glycerol was channelled with constant flow, then air was channelled with the first flow until fourth flow. Then glycerol flow was raised from the second to fifth flow, while air flow starting from first flow to fourth flow, respectively. The test section diameter is 25 mm and the bend radius is 175 mm, or R/D = 7.The study results indicated that on the single-phase flow, the greatest pressure distribution occurred on the outer side, specially on the bank position the greatest pressure distribution was on the bottom side bend, while for the two-phase flow the greatest pressure distribution also occurred on the outer wall and specially on the bank posision the greatest pressure distribution was on the top side bend. Flow patterns occurred are bubble flow, plug flow, stratified flow, stratified wave flow, slug flow, and annular flow. This reseach to show that in two phase viscous fluid flow must be don’t use the U pipe bend in order to prevent the losses.

Abstract

This study aims to discover the exhaust gas emission effect in the combustion chamber of four strokes spark ignition engine taking place at using of ethanol and pertamax fuel at combustion process and exit at the air. The research was conducted at using of ethanol and pertamax fuel in the four strokes of spark ignition engine at KIA CARNIVAL car at the amospheric condition ( 27o C – 30o C ).Exhaust gas emission producted from combustion process the so called poluttant result from engine with premium fuel as (HC,CO,CO2,O2,NOx). Among the cause of incomplete combustion is the poor of oxygen, so in order not to be discover the dangerous exhaust gas emission, the ethanol added at the fuel mixture.This study analysed the effect of athanol added to pertamax fuel mixture with exhaust gas emission. The methode of study with comparing pure pertamax fuel and ethanol pertamax fuel mixture with concentred of 9 % and 16.6 %, at the engine rpm speed of 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000. and used the exhaust gas emission measurement with the ultra gas analyser.The result of this study show there are exhaust gas emission decrease at every ethanol added in to the pertamax fuel mixture, and there are also increase of fuel to air ratio. The ethanol fuel helps the combustion process because there are oxygen (O2) in the ethanol fuel, so that the ethanol fuel could be the alternative of fuel to decrease the dangerous of exhaust gas emission and to increase the octane number whatever needs at the fuel car engine with grade capacity.

Abstract

Wind is one of some alternate energy resources in the nature that used to membantu and easily human activity. The aim of this research known the performance of wind mill. The variable in the research with various number of blade 2,3, and 4. Wind mill for the research had spesification flate blade with 200 from wind direction.The speed of wind and revolution of shaft was measured for calculated power output and teoritical, coefficient performance, efficiency, and torque. Wind turbin tested in Depok resort, Parangtritis - Bantul Yogyakarta.The result of research showed the number two blade had higher revolution (121,7 rpm) than three blade (102,35 rpm) and four blade (116 rpm).The wind velocity increased to cause increase revolution of shaft. Maximum Power and Torque reached on wind turbin with three blade.

Abstract

Welding is one of part importing in Manufacture process, because almost all manufacture product always get involve welding process, because of that process and welding result in manufacture process need to pay attention because this will be connected directly with quality of manufacture product. Mean while, as a judgmental in a production for stable in price is possible for using different material and has to weld by using welding process (dissimilar welding), in that hook, this research for knowing fisis characteristic and welding product mechanist between lowest carbon steel with endure corrosion steel by using direct dissimilar welding system and butter.In this research, was conducting welding by using low carbon steel material which have AISI standard 1020 and endure corrosion steel with ISI 304 series. Also AWS E 308 Welding was conducting by using SMAW system along with DC 80, 90 and 100 Ampere current variable. From that tarik tested that highest pull power had been result from welding with butter method and 90 ampere current is 44,79 Kg/mm2 and general result from tarik butter method test is better than direct method because all current variable has result bigger force than butter method. Mean while lowest pull power result on the direct welding with 100 amperes, its 43,3 kg/mm2. Mean while from the hardness result test that hardness distribution on the HAZ area and a good welding kernel result on the welding by using butter method with 90 ampere and direct method with 80 ampere. On the 100 ampere with butter method or hardness direct distribution not good because there are stepess on the hardness graphics that resulted. This point will be result in voltage concentration which is result in descending weld power.

Abstract

The increasing of Indonesia society necessity of automotive product, especially motorcycle, claiming automotive producer to more productive in yielding it’s product. One of way to increase it’s product is by modified the production process to become more efficient in using working time and keep the quality of the product is good. Chain puller is one of Yamaha Vega R motorcycle component, that made with stamping process using press machine. To make one product of chain puller is needed eight process that is shearing, blanking, swaging, bending, piercing-cutting, cheaser, buffing-chamfering and threading. In this script the process to be studied is blanking process. In chain puller production process can only produce one blank product in one stroke of press machine. starting from the chain puller drawing part that will be produce by Yamaha Motor company. Some data like product dimension, product materials using SPHC ad finishing process, can getting from that drawing. From that data we can getting the tensile strength of SPHC is 270 N/mm2 and slice circumference is 382,742 m. Then we can calculate another data that needed to design the dies and we getting slice force is 26964,63 kgf, stripper force is 2696,463 kgf, total force is 30 ton, clearance is 0,155 m, die freedom using angular clearance with straight slice side with h= 10 mm and α = 2°, high of penetration is 3,3 mm. By using two punch on the blanking dies, in every stroke of press machine can produced two blank product all at once.

Abstract

Rotated of small motorboat propellers produced relative motion among propeller and fluid media (water) i.e. mechanical effect as thrust, cavitation and friction. The me-chanical effect with chemical and electrochemical reaction resulted corrosion on mo-torboat propellers. Tanjung Tiga was choosen with geographic reason, that can be a mo-del for the other place along north beach of Jawa Barat, which fisherman went to sea via muddy estuary. Erosion, pitting, cavitation and galvanic corrosions happened on small motorboat propeller. Increasing 10 % of rotation of propeller made corrosion rate higher more than 80%, because the estuary muddy and made shallow, the propeller have hard impacted when on river than on the sea.
