Abstract

This research was conducted due to the students’ understanding on mathematicsconcepts and their lack of interest in learning. This research was intended toreveal (1) the development of the students’ mathematics conceptual understandingby applying team quiz active learning strategy, (2) whether the use of team quizactive learning strategy affected the students’ mathematics conceptualunderstanding. This was a pre-experimental research which used one shut casestudy design. The population of the research was the second year student atSMPN 23 Padang who were distributed into 7 classes. Of the population, thestudents in class VIII.2 were chosen as the sample. The data was collected byadministering a quiz and a post-test. The result of the post-test was analyzed bytaking into account the students’ average score after the treatment given andcomparing it to the standard score which was 40. Based on the result of dataanalysis, it was figured out that the students’ mathematics conceptualunderstanding in the experimental class was 76,58 which was higher than thestandard score. Further, the number of the students who had achieved theMinimum Stadard Score improved from 0% into 68%. Thus, it was concluded thatthe use of team quiz active learning strategy affected the second year students’mathematics conceptual understanding at SMPN 23 Padang.

Abstract

Teaching materials is an important part of learning because it can be used as alearning resource for teachers and students. Teaching materials which areexpected to be able to guide students to learn independently, easy to understandstudents, communicative language with students and improve students problemsolving abilities. Existing textbooks have not been able to guide students to aconcept and solve mathematical problems. Therefore, developed teachingmaterials in the form of students worksheet based on discovery learning ofpythagorean theorem materials. Type of research is the development of the 4-Dmodel. Based on the results of testing the validity of the students worksheet-basedvalidator problem by showing that a students worksheet based on the criteria validissue, namely 4,00. Practicalities of test results by teachers and students indicatethat the lkse is based on the category of very practical problems, namely 90,25%for students while 85% for teachers.

Abstract

This research is based on the students comprehension of mathematical concepts are still low. This is seen in the results of student learning classes VII MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang in Academic Year 2014/2015. This study aims to determine whether students comprehension of mathematical concepts by applying active learning strategies Class Concern types with better than students comprehension of mathematical concepts with conventional learning in class VII MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang. This was an experimental research which used research design Static Group Comparison. Sampling technique was done by purposive sampling, class VII-4 as experimental class and VII-3 as control class . The instrument of the research was a test of understanding mathematical concept. The test used is in the form of essay test with a reliability test was 0,749. The data gathered in this research was analyzed by using t test assisted. Results were obtained the result of the hypothesis test, it was known that P-value was 0,042 on the significance level 0.05 in which P-value < α. This result indicated that the mathematics conceptual understanding of the students taught by using Trading Places active learning strategy better than that of students taught by using conventional strategy was accepted.

Abstract

The research is based on the consideration of the importance of teaching materials that used by student but give enough chance for student to build their own understanding. Besides that, students are also not well guided enough to find the concept and connect it with daily life. Due to the reasons, teaching materials called student work sheet or workbook based construction of get up the flat side are developed class eight in SMPN 23 Padang. The aim of this research is to find out the validity and practicality of the workbook that based on construction of get up the flat side. The type of this research is development of 4-D model. The 4-D model consists of 4 development stages : define, design, develop and desseminate. However, the researcher only used 3 stages in this research : get up the flat side. The develop stages is done by developing the workbook and testing the validity and practicality. The analysist of workbook done descriptive way and the result of validity is 3,42 which the highest point of validity. The result of the practicality testing is very high which 86,90 %. It means the workbook based construction of get up the flat side class eight in SMPN 23 Padang is valid and practical.

Abstract

This research is based on the low mathematical concept comprehension ofstudents. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of applyingcooperative learning model with pair checks type and quiz with mathematicalconcept of students. The type of research is pre-experiment with one-shot casestudy of research framework. The instrument of research is essay with rediabilityr11 = 0,96. The technique of data analysis which is used is descriptive analysis.Based on the result of the research the average score of quis in every meeting is88,52 in quiz 1, 94,55 in quiz II, 98,72 in quiz III, 98,77 in quiz IV and theaverage score of the result before having treament is 54,67 and after havingtreament is 82,42. So, it was concluded that the application of cooperativelearning model with pair checks type and quis with mathematical conceptcomprehesionof second grade Junior High School 13 Padang Students.

Abstract

The aim of this research to determine whether the application by usingactive learning strategies Synergetic Teaching effect on the understanding ofmathematical concepts in class VIII 20 Padang. Type of research is the study ofPre-Eksperimental research designed with Pre-Test and Post-Test Group.Population in this study was a class VIII SMPN 20 Padang 2014/2015 academicyear, to take sample is randomly that is VIII.6 as sample class. The instrumentused in this is the initial test (Pre-Test) and final test (Post-Test) in the from ofdata used essay. The analysis test t-test. Based on the analysis of data obtained,so that the research hypothesis can be concluded that there are significantapplication of learning strategies Synergetic Teaching to the understanding of themathematical concept of class VIII SMPN 20 Padang.

Abstract

Teaching material that used by students during math learning do not give opportunity to students in contruction self concept. Besides, it doesn’t guide students to find the way to give material in the text book in math learning less variation. In hadling the problem , it can be done with developing teaching material such as module base on contextual teaching and learning validly and practically for statistic material at VII grade students. The research used developing research , it is done by using IDI (Intructional Develop Institute). It define step, it is done by analizing sylabus and teaching material that used by the teacher. Module had been validated by one indonesia lecture and ane math teacher. That, it is done practice theartment at islamic junior hight school kuranji padang VII grade students. It is done to see practicality in using module. The result showed that module in math learning base on contextual teaching and learning have been devolped was valid. Base on questioner have been given to student in seeing practicallity was including to practice category. It meens that, module which is used have been practice, interest, and bonefit for teacher and student in learning process. It concludes that module base on contextual teaching and learning in math learning is valid and practice.

Abstract

This research is motivated by lack of student’s understanding of matematicalconcepts. The study aims is to determine the understanding of mathematicalconcepts by implementing cooperative learning model Two Stay Two Stray betterthan an understanding of mathematical concepts with conventional learning classVII SMPN 1 Linggo Sari Baganti. Kind of this research is experimental research,with research plan is Randomized to Subject. Population of this research isstudent`s at grade VII SMPN 1 Linggo Sari Baganti. The instrumentation of thisresearch is understanding test of mathematical concepts. Technique of dataanalysis is used in this research is t-test one side by using software MINITAB.Based on the result of t-test is P-value = 0,023, it means lower than ߙ = 0,05,therefore hipotesis is accepted. We can conclude that student`s understanding ofmathematical concepts is treated by using Two Stay Two Stray better thanstudent`s understanding of mathematical concepts is treated by usingconvensional learning at grade VII SMPN 1 Linggo Sari Baganti.

Abstract

This research was derived from the students’ low understanding on mathematics concept. This was caused by the lack of interaction among the students during the teaching and learning process. This research was designed for revealing whether the use of Practice Rehearsal Pairs active learning strategy affected the students’ mathematics conceptual understanding. This was a pre-experimental research which used Pre-Test and Post-Test Group design. The subject of the research was the students in class XI of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Padang. To collect the data, a pre-test and a post-test were administered. Based on the result of data analysis, it was figured that the average score of the students in the experimental class was 54,875 in the pre-test and 74,8375 in the post-test. The result of the hypothesis test showed that the value of tcalculated 7,46 was higher than ttable 2,093 indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. Thus, it was concluded that the use of Practice Rehearsal Pairs active learning strategy exerted an influence upon the students’ mathematics conceptual understanding on the reliability level 95%.

Abstract

This research is based on by student’s comprehension in mathematical conceptswhic is low, the luack of student’s responsibility in doing etercise and home work.The purpose of reseaich to know does the learning actife method Course ReviewHorey influence toword student’s comprehension in mathematical concepts atgrade XI MIA SMA PGRI 1 Padang. This research is pre-eksperiment research,with one-shot case study. The population of this research is student’s at class XIMIA SMA PGRI 1 Padang. The sampel is class XI MIA.3 that was takenrandomly. The instruments of research is quiz and pos-test like essay with testreliability is 0.34. Based on the description and data analysis above, it can beseen that student’s comprehension in mathematical concepts get increase. Itshows that the arange of student’s mathematical pos-test are 75,6. Therefore if itcompare with the standar score that is 75, so the average of student’s pos-test arehigh than ideal score. In conclusion, learning active method Course ReviewHorey influence toword student’s comprehension in mathematical concepts atgrade XI MIA SMA PGRI 1 Padang.
