Abstract

Biology is one of branch Natural Science (IPA) that underlie the development of science and technology. Inorder to achieve the goal of learning biology, biology is expected to be favored and preferred learning students.However the reality of biological subjects not be liked the students because most of students think it is difficult tounderstand the biology lesson. Students who do not like biology class due to lack of intereset of students towardsbiology the model in the learning process. Teachers only applying a speech method and practice in teaching andlearning, so that students tend to get bored by listening to the explanation from the teacher. This research aimed toexamine the effect of the application cooperative learning model talking stick type toward biology learning outcomes atVII grade students of SMPN 1 Sasak Ranah Pasisie academic year 2013/2014. This reseacrh is an experimentalresearch. The population in this research were VII grade students in the second semester SMPN 1 Sasak Ranah Pasisiethe academic year 2013/2014. The sampling technique used randomized control group postes design, where the researchsample in the experimental class were VII1 class with 31 students and the control class were VII2 class that totaling 30students. The instrument used is an objective test and analysis data by using the t test. The result from this research gotthe experimental class had an average value of 80.72 is higher than the average value of the control class 70.41. Theresult from data were analyzed by test, and obtained the price Thitung 4,64 Ttable 1,67. Thus Thitung> Ttable which means H1is accepted. It was cocluded that the application of cooperative learning model talking stick type can improve biologylearning outcomes at VII grade student of SMP N 1 Sasak Ranah Pasisie academic year 2013/2014.

Abstract

This research background was based on some problem. Firstly, the results of the eight grade students’ biology test at first semester were low. Secondly, the teacher’s ability is still less in constructing the appropriate indicator with the students characteristic and school condition. Thirdly, the lesson plan that was made by the biology’s teacher did not match with the standard of IPKG I, but it was written together with the other teacher. Fourthly, some teacher thought that the lesson plan was only made to complete the teacher’s functional task for the evaluation of DP3, so, the lesson plan did not apply well in the teaching and learning process by the teacher. Fifthly, the learning process will be achieved if the teacher could master the methods, strategies and approaches which is suitable with the situation and condition that happen toward the students while learning activity. And it is manually used and applied in the teaching and learning process. This research was aimed to analyze the biology lesson plan at eight grade students of SMPN 1 LembahMelintang, West Pasaman. This research was categorized to the descriptive research design. The population was taken from the biology’s lesson plans at eight grades students in the first semester. The lesson plan was made by two biology’s teachers in the SMPN 1 LembahMelintang, West Pasaman. The sample of this research used the total sampling technique that was the lesson plans which had been constructed by the biology’s teachers in the first semester of SMPN 1 LembahMelintang, West Pasaman in the academic years of 2013/2014. The instrumentation used the questionnaire based on IPKG 1which had been developed by Mulyati, et al (2013). The final result of this research described that the completeness of the lesson plan components on the prior component is 80, 5 %, meanwhile on the incompleteness component is 19, 5 %, and then from the result of the lesson plan evaluation is 65, 01%. Based on the result, the researcher conclude that the lesson plan of SMPN 1 LembahMelintang, West Pasaman at eight grade students in the first semester have an enough standard criterion.

Abstract

At MTsN Lembah Gumanti Solok, the Student Worksheet and textbook were used as thesources of learning materials. Unfortunately, the materials presented were not totally approriate tothe learning goals and were not yet complete. Furthermore, not all students were able to get thebook at cost, and the book available were not sufficient. As a consequence, the students gotdifficulties to recall the learning materials at home. One of the materials regarded as difficult forthe students in class IX of Junior High School to the understood was the CharacteristicsInheritance. This topic required the students’ skill to count. The sample items and the exerciseswere hard to be undestood. This topic was commonly tested in the Nasional Examination. To dealwith this problem, a handout was developed. This reserch was designed to produce handoutaccompanied with exercises on the characteristics inheritance topic for the studens in class IX ofSMP/ MTs. This research was conducted at MTsN Lembah Gumanti in March of Academic Year2014/2015. This was a developmental research which applied 4-D model including defining phase,designing phase, and developing phase. The data collected was in the form of primay data thatconsisted of scores gotten from the validity questionnaire and practicality test administered to theteacher and the students. The data was analyzed descriptively by using percentage technique. Thehandout produced had been valid (89,1%) either in term of didactic, construction and technique.The handout had also been very practical according to the teacher (89,3%) and according to thestudents (89,6). Then, it was concluded that this research had produced a handout accompaniedwith exercise which had been valid and practical.

Abstract

Curriculum was seen as one of element which is able to give significant contribution for quality developing process of student. In 2013 Curriculum which is used nowadays by the government give the handbook for the teacher and handbook for the student as material for studying without using LKS. Meanwhile LKS is one of studying material which is needed by the student to optimalize for involvement and the activeness of the student in studying. LKS which is in the school as indicator, the purpose of studying hasn’t been systematic, and it’s not completed by colorful picture so that it can’t interest the student. Related to that, it’s developed studying media like LKS in Living creature classification for class VII SMP. This research has purpose to know the validity and practicality LKS based environment approachment.This research is developing research which is used 4-D models which is consist of 4 levels, they are define (definition), design (Design), develop (develop), and disseminate. The define level consist of front analysis, student analysis, and task analysis. In design level is done the design of learning media like LKS in material classify living creature, then in develop level is done validity test by validation who is consist of 2 lectures, and 2 teachers of SMP N 12 Padang and also 1 teacher from SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Padang. The practicality test by 3 teachers and 32 students of class VII junior high school, meanwhile the disseminate is not done.The result of LKS validity based on environment approachment by validation show that this LKS in valid criteria is 85,43% is shown from variable. The result of LKS practicality based on environment approachment by the teacher show that LKS is more practice that 93,26% and the result show that very practice is 88,30% is shown in used, the advantage and also efficiency can be concluded the development of LKS based one environment approachment in living creature classification which is produced valid and very practice.

Abstract

Rangrang Ant Oecophylla smaragdina is an insect which is often found in tree like frurt similan to lychee, manggo, cacao, clove, rose apple, mangosteen, etc. Rangrang ant can hunt pest like green dented, caterpillar which eat leaf and other insect fruit pest. Related to it, it has been done research about population of rangrang ant Oecophylla smaragdina (Hymenoptera : Formicidae) in Sirilogui village Nonth Siberut Mentawai Island District in August 2013 with the purpose to know the population of rangrang ant which is talking about nest population and nest characteristic of rangrang ant. The research used descriptive survey method by observing rangrang ant nest directly which can be found in research location. The parameter which used are stem diameter, branch, small branch, height of nest, and plant types name of nest. For the research result which has been done, it can be gotten that rangrang ant nest which were located in cacao plantation and the lowest in scrub. The plant as the nests like Eugenia aromatica, Theobroma cacao, Macaranga tanarius, Glochidion sp, Dendrolobium umbellatum, Vitex pubescens, Leea indica.The stem diameter which is mostly found in about 5-10cm in 10 nests, the most nest which is found in branch is 1-3 is 36 nest and small branch 6-10 is 22 nests. The high nest mostly found in 1-2 meter from land surface. It’s 26 nests.

Abstract

Amylase is an enzyme that plays a role in hidrolysis starch into simple sugars. Various industries in Indonesia using amylase as a catalyst, as in the food industry amylase role in making foods, drinks, or liquid sugar and non-food industries amylase used in the textile, paper and detergent. Some types of bacteria such as Bacillus sp. and Aspergillus sp. a group that has a great ability to produce amylase. Amylase producing bacteria have been isolated from soil landfills (TPA) in the city of Padang, but identification has not been done. This research aims to determine the amylase producing bacteria from the ground landfills (TPA) in the city of Padang. The research was conducted from July to August 2014 in the laboratory Kopertis Region X and in the Balai Penyidikan and Pengujian Veteriner Regional II Bukit Tinggi. This research uses descriptive method. The results of bacterial identification of isolates T2.4, T3.7, and T4.5 includes identification macroscopic and microscopic morphology and biochemical identification of the isolates showed that the T2.4 is a bacteria of the genus Enterobacter, whereas isolates T3.7 and T4.5 is bacteria of the genus Bacillus.

Abstract

Apis cerana is the one of insecta that gives a benefit for human. Exactly because it is able to product honey. The colony of bees include from the queen bees, male bees and worker bees. In the life of Apis cerana influenced by the area, due to that had been done the research about the study of acology Apis cerana (hymenoptera:apidae) at the mixed garden in the dasar puding village, Tebo Ulu distric, Tebo regency, Jambi province with the purpose is to know the kind of trees that is uses to nestle, the kind of plenty plant that is visited by the worker bees, and the condition of are physic. This research was conducted in the dasar Puding village, Tebo ulu distric, Tebo regency, Jambi province, by using descriptive survey method, in July-August 2014. From the result of the research, the diamtere rod that is occupied to nestle is about 43,94-79,28 cm, the number of cavities that could potentially to nestle is 2 until 5 cavities. The plants that was visited the worker bees Apis cerana (Hymenoptera: Apidae) the mixed garden in the dasar puding village, Tebo ulu distric, Tebo regency, Jambi province is 24 species and 16 familia, The familia that have the greatest species is Leguminoceae that is 3 species.

Abstract

This research was background by studying result for students in class VIII MTsN Talaokis still low. The learning method which is used by the teacher hasn’t still been variation so thatmake the student motivation in learning still low. This research has purpose to know the influenceof implementing learning method course review horey for the result of Biology for student classVIII MTsN Talaok. The type of this research is experiment by research design RandomizedControl-Group posttest Only Design. The population is all students in class VIII MTsN Talaokyear 2014/2015. The technique for taking the sample is done Purposive sampling. To decideexperiment class and control class which is used random sampling so class VIII.7 was the choiceas experiment and class VIII.6 as the control class. The data analysis technique has purpose to testhypothesis which is aim whether accepted or refused. The result of research can be gotten inexperiment class was gotten the average that 78,429 and control class gotten the average 69,423.The hypothesis testing use test-t gotten thitung 2,4262 is greater than ttabel 1,674, so the hipotesiswhich is used accepted. The conclusion that learning method course review horey can increasebiology result of students in class VIII MTsN Talaok Kecamatan Bayang, Pesisir Selatan.

Abstract

A study about ants diversity at a buffer zone area of palm oil (Elaeis guineensiis Jacq.) plantation of PT. BinaPratama Sakato Jaya (BPSJ) Kiliran Jao Sijunjung District West Sumatera, by using “Quadra Protocol” (FreeCollection, Honey Bait, Leaf Litter Sampling, and Soil Core Sampling) methods was conducted on June 2014.A total of 22 species, that belongging to 7 subfamillies, 14 tribe, 19 genera and 171 individual of ants wascollected. The diversity index of ants in this study was 2, 39. The highest number of species was found inFormicinae (8 species) and the lowest one was found in Aenictinae, Dorylinae and Pseudomyrmicinae (onespecies respectively). Polyrachis was found as a genus the highest number of species (4 species).

Abstract

Escherechia coli is part of the normal microbiota of the intestinal tract , E. coli however many years regarded as a cause of diarrhea in humans and animals . One of the commonly used medicinal plants as an antidiarrheal community is guava leaves ( Psidium guajava L. ) . Guava leaves contain various phytochemical components that can be used as an antidiarrheal . Antidiarrheal compounds in the leaves of guava include essential oils , tannins and flavonoids . The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of guava leaf extract with and without heating heated in inhibiting the growth of E. coli bacteria . This study was conducted in May 2014 at the Laboratory of Basic Biology Education STKIP PGRI West Sumatra . Using a completely randomized design consisting of seven treatments and three replications . Data were analyzed by ANOVA and further test DNMRT at level α of 5% . The results showed that the extract of guava leaves with heating and without heating can inhibit the growth of E. coli bacteria.
