Abstract

Teaching and learning process in SMP 31 Padang is still teacher centered. Instructionalmedia use less variable, and the results of their study are still under minimum completenesscriteria. This study aimed to determine the effect to the handout that comes with pictorial conceptmap of learning competencies Biology eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 31 Padang. This studyis an experiment with purposive cluster sampling. The cognitive test instruments in the form ofmultiple choice questions. Non test instrument on the affective and psychomotor form ofmotivation questionnaire, observation sheet activities, and student assignment assessment sheet.Based on the analysis of data on the average cognitive learning outcomes experimental class 87.33and control class 75.34. In the Uji-t is obtained thitung 4.80 and 1.67 ttabel. In the affective domain ofstudent motivation in the experimental class 89% and control class 83.46%. Activity of students inthe first meeting of the experimental class 64.37%, and the second meeting 63.12%. In the firstclass meeting control 29.50%, and the second meeting 23.93%. In the psychomotor, the averagestudent assignments in the experimental class 63,60 and control class 34,86. Based on the dataanalysis it can be concluded that the use of a handout that comes with pictorial concept mapsaffect the learning competencies Biology at the second semester of eighth grade students at SMPNegeri 31 Padang.

Abstract

Changes in forest conditions can cause negative impacts on the surrounding community as well as on biodiversity. Loss of habitat and wetlands in the processing of the garden as well as the inclusion of chemical compounds into the environment may pose a risk of animal extinction threat, one of Amphibia. Therefore, study on the types of Amphibia found in Kanagarian Kunangan Parik Rantang Sijunjung district palm oil plantations has been done,in order to determine the types of Amphibia in palm oil plantations. The study was conducted on 14 to 29 August 2014. This study was conducted using Visual ecounter survey (VES) method that is walking observation and survey directly toward Amphibia species obstained in the site, which is accompanied by some morphological characters measurement and description establishment. Observations were made in three habitats are puddles, rivers and oil palm verge. The result of the research showed 13 species with total 91 specimens Amphibians species had been collected which was consist of five families i.e. Bufonidae (Ingerophrynus biporcatus Gravenhorst., Phrynoidis asper Gravenhorst., Duttaprynus melanostictus Schneider.), Microhylidae (Microhyla heymonsii Vogt., Kaloula baleata Muller., Kalophrynus pleurostigma Tschudi.), Dicroglossidae (Fejervarya limnocharis Boie., Limnonectes blythi Boulenger.), Ranidae (Hylarana nicobariensis Stolizka, Hylarana erythraea Schlegel., Hylarana glandulosa Boulenger., Hylarana parvaccola Inger.), Rhacoporidae (Polypedates leucomystax Gravenhorst.).

Abstract

The least of biology learning media at SMA Kartika 1-5 Padang cause the students’ low learning out cont of biology. The teacher should choose good method and interesting media by using picture Handout with map concept in Cooperative Learning Model Type Student Team Achievement Division (STAD). This is experiment research with Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design. The population of the research is all of the students class X SMA Kartika 1-5 Padang which are registered at II semester year 2013/2014. Take of sampling uses Purposive Cluster Sampling. The result of this technique is got experiment class and control class includes that X4 and X2. The result of the research is got score of experiment class 77.85 and control class 67.35. Average score is about affective, cognitive, and Psychomotor for X4 73% and X2 52%. This case can be concluded that picture Handout with map concept in cooperative learning model type STAD give effect toward the students’ biology score at class X SMA Kartika 1-5 Padang year 2013/2014.

Abstract

The use of method which was less varied, the lack of texbook provided and the students, low learning achievement in Biology especially on the pollution of the environment topic in class VII of SMPN 2 Lengayang in Academic Year 2013/2014 were the reasons for which this research was conducted. To overcome the problem, recitation method assisted with ideas paper passing technique was applied. This research was aimed at revealing whether the use of recitation method assisted with ideas paper passing technique could improve the students, learning achievement in Biology in class VII of SMPN 2 Lengayang. This was an ekperimental research which used Randomized Control Group Posstest Only Design. The population of this research was all of students in class VII of SMPN 2 Lengayang registered in Academic Year 2013/2014. By using Purposive Sampling technique, class VII.b was chosen as the ekperimental class and class VII.d was as the control group. The result of the research showed that the average score of the students in the experimental class 75,26 was higher than that of students in the control class 60,93. The result of the hypothesis test indicated that the value of tcalculated 4,50 was smaller than ttable 1,67 showing that the hypothesis was accepted. Thus, it was concluded that the use of recitation method assisted with ideas paper passing technique could improve the students, learning achievement in Biology in class VII of SMPN 2 Lengayang Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan.

Abstract

The low learning result of biology students at SMAN 2 Sutera Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan because students tend to passive during the learning process. The students have less attention and also courage to ask about the material that less understood. This requires teachers to select an appropriate learning model. This study aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model with Snowball Throwing type begins with summarize task toward the learning outcome of biology class students at X SMAN 2 Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan in year 2013/2014. The research is an experimental research with randomized control group postest only design. The study population was all students of class X SMAN 2 Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan in year 2013/2014, consist of four classes. The sampling technique is by using purposive sampling, which pay attention to classes who have the same average value. So, it is selected X1 as experiment class and X2 class as the control class. The average results of the student tests for experiment class is 79,50 and 70.58 for the control class. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using t-test obtained t > t table is 1.74 > 1.66 . It means that the hypothesis of this study received and it can be inferred that by applying cooperative learning model Snowball Throwing type can increase the result of students biology’s learning at X grade students at SMAN 2 Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan year 2013/2014. This learning model can also improve student affective, because the student can interact in groups and also with the teacher. However, the summarizing task that is used as a psychomotor assessment does not give effect to student learning outcomes.

Abstract

District of village forest area Penarik Mukomuko district has become an area of oil palm plantations (monoculture), it is expected to affect the condition of the ground vegetation and animals. One of the damage is the loss of biodiversity and habitats for some types of Coleoptera. This study aims to determine the composition of the soil surface Coleoptera chemical and physical factors.The study was conducted in February and March 2014 sampling was done in the Garden District of Palm Penarik Mukomuko district. The study used a descriptive survey method by means of direct collection using pitfall traps. Identification of surface soil samples Coleoptera conducted at the Laboratory of Zoology Biology Education Program STKIP PGRI West Sumatra, vegetation identification is done at ANDA Herba Laboratory, State University of Andalas Padang. Measurement of soil organic C content in Soil Chemistry Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Andalas Padang.Soil surface Coleoptera found that as many as 4 family consists of 10 genera and 20 individuals. At the station I found two families, consisting of 4 genera and 6 individuals, at station II was found four families, consisting of 8 genera and 8 individuals, and the station III found one family, consisting of 4 genera and 6 individuals. At the station I the highest relative density is Anoplognathus (32.50%), the lowest relative density is the Onthophagus and Casida, (17.50%). At the station II relative density equal to the genus of Coleoptera Casida, Dermentes, Lytta, Euphoria, Lepidiota, Onthophagus, Oryctes, and Xyloryctes ie (12.50%). Relative density is highest at the station III Anoplognathus genus (32.50%) and the lowest relative density is the genus Onthophagus Nicaqus and 17.50%.

Abstract

Biology instructional materials used by students of SMAN 11 Padang is textbook and worksheets. The use of textbooks that is optimal to assist students in learning, because textbooks are loaned from the school library can only be used in the learning process time at school. As a result, the students find difficulties to repeat the lesson. In addition, text books and worksheets that are used have a simple display, the images present in black and white, images and descriptions are less clear, material explanation of the teaching material is quite concise. Thus, the students are less motivated to read teaching materials and being about the task of teachers. In studying the structure and function of cell material as the smallest unit of life, the learning needs pictures that can help the students to understand the learning material for the image and structure of cell organelles can not be seen directly. To assist students in the learning process, the teacher develops teaching materials in the form of handouts. This study aims to determine the validity and handouts that accompanied the practicalities of a concept map on the material structure and function of the cell as the smallest unit of life for SMA/MA. This research is the development of the use of 4-D Models consists of 4 stages namely, define, design, develop and disseminate, but this study is limited to develop stage (development). This type of research data is the primary data which consist of the results of the validity and practicalities. This study was conducted on May 20, 2014 in SMAN 11 Padang. Validity test results illustrated handout accompanied by a concept map validator indicated that this handout was very valid criteria with an average value of 94.29%. Test results illustrated handouts that accompanied the practicalities of concept maps by the teacher indicated that this handout was a very practical criterion is 92.76% and test the practicalities of the students indicated that this handout was very practical criteria with an average value of 95.49%. It were be concluded that the handouts that accompanied the pictorial concept map produced very valid and very practical.

Abstract

The availability of food in sufficient quantities, on time, and good nutritional value is onevery important factor in fish farming activities. Food that can be given to Oreochromis niloticusfeed in the form of natural and artificial feed (pellets) which is used by fish farmers for fishfarming, therefore, carried out the research with the aim to determine Comparison of growth andprotein content of Oreochromis niloticus fed natural and artificial feed. This research wasconducted in the area of Asam Kamba District of Bayang District of Pesisir Selatan in March toMay 2014 and the analysis performed on Laboratory protein content of Chemistry, StateUniversity of Padang. This study is an experiment by using two treatments, A (natural feed) B(artificial feed) This study was conducted for 8 weeks to see the growth and protein content ofOreochromis niloticus. Data were analyzed statistically with the t test. The results showed thatthe artificial feeding can increase the growth of Oreochromis niloticus faster than the natural food.The highest protein content was found in Oreochromis niloticus fed naturally while the proteincontent was lowest for the Oreochromis niloticus fed artificial. So the natural food and artificialdiets can be used for fish farming.

Abstract

Xylocopa confusa or carpenter bees in one type of bee that is included in the ordo Hymenoptera: family Anthophoridae. The carpenter bees nesting in dead wood and bark, which are crucial for the pollination of plants is as. Carpenter bees visting the bean crop to forage in the from of pollen and nectar. Based on the above description of this research has been carried outin march 2014 with the aim to find a carpenter bee visits Xylocopa confusa Linn. (hymenoptera: Anthophoridae). At planting beans di Kelurahan Korong Gadang Kecamatan Kuranji Kota Padang. The study used a descriptive survey method that is by directly observing the visit Xylocopa confusa in the field, field sampling is done at planting beans. Measured weather and light intensity. The area of research is to be a place around ± 18X11 m. The result showed average number of visits Xylocopa confusa on bean crop di Kelurahan Korong Gadang Kecamatan Kuranji Kota Padang is 38,46 individuals. Number of visit Xylocopa confusa visting on planting beans the most in the morning at 09.00 am average 17 tails, and the aftornoon at 15.00 pm 2,29 average tail, the litle visit during the day at 12.00 average of 1, 43 tail. The number of flowers visited morning between 12,52 and the litle interest in the afternoon aon average between 4,43 interest. Xylocopa confusa visit to the bean crop is highly influenced by the intensity of light. In multivel regression weather factors such as temperature, humidity and wind speed affected the very real connection to the visit of Xylocopa confusa on planting beans.
