Abstract

This study aims to know diversity of butterflies at buffer zone of oil palm plantation Kiliran Jao,Sijunjung. Butterflies were sampled by direct collecting using insect net and baited using cassava andshrimp fermented. In this study, 26 species of butterflies that belonging to 21 genera and 6 familieswere found. The highest number of spesies was found in Nymphalidae (nine species), while the lowestwere Acraeidae and Amathusiidae, one species of each. Diversity index of butterflies was 2.92 that isindicated that diversity of butterflies was midle category.

Abstract

The land cultivation has positive and negative impact for several of insect. The change type of plant after harvest give negative impact for insect and can cut life chain of insects. Related to that, it has been done research about varicosity Vespiade of palawija plant at Gurun Laweh District Nanggalo Valley Padang with the purpose to know the varicosity of vespidae in any types of palawija plant and physic-chemistry characteristic in any kinds of plantation of palawija in Gurun Laweh District Nanggalo Valley Padang. This research is done by survey descriptive method. The decision of the point in taking the sample is done by using purposive sampling technique. The taken Sample by insect net and identification of sample in Zoology Laboratorium STKIP PGRI SUMBAR. The Vespidae which found in Gurun Laweh District Nanggalo Valley Padang. is 56 insects with 6 types, they are Vespa avinis, V.tropica, V,bellicosa, V.multimacullata, rapalidia vasciata and Ropalidia sp. The similarities index of Vespidae in beans and chili are 67%. In chili and cucumber is 67%. Meanwhile in beans and cucumber really high. Similarities beans and cucumber are 100%. The average of temperature are 30,7-31,3 C. The average of air damp is 71,7-73%. The average of soil temperature is 27,7-28,1C and the average of soil pH is 6.

Abstract

Including land snail Achatina fulica, which generally has a humid place habits and activeat night (nocturnal). Nocturnal nature is not solely determined by the dark at night but isdetermined by the temperature and humidity environment factors. These animals eat a variety ofplant cultivation, therefore, the snails including one for crop pests. Part of the plant is attackedyoung shoots, branches, and trunks. This pest bites invite attack fungi or bacteria that cause plantsto wilt and die.This study aimed to determine the population density at planting dragon Achatinafulica at Kanagarian Tapakis Ulakan Tapakis District of Padang Pariaman. This study wasconducted in May-June 2014 with a descriptive survey method by calculating directly Achatinafulica were obtained at the study site. Sampling was performed by the method mapped 10mx10mon horticultural dragon. Environmental factors were measured at the time of sampling aretemperature and humidity. sampling performed three times in the dark and the bright moon. Basedon the results research conducted on the plant dragon at Kanagarian Tapakis District of PadangPariaman Ulakan Tapakis found the number of individuals Achatina fulica as 3436 individualswith a total population density of 2.29 individuals/ m2, the state optimum temperature at 27 ° C.

Abstract

This research was conducted due to the students’ low learning achievement in Biology. The students who did not master the learning materials, were less involved in the learning process, had low learning intererest, and were passive and less motivated to learn were some factors tringgering the occurrence of the problem. The purpose of this research was to see the application of Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model on the students’ Biology learning achievement in class XI of SMAN 2 Bayang. This was an experimental research which used Randomized Control-Group Posttest Only Design. By using purposive Sampling Technique, class XI IPA 3 was chosen as the experimental class, and class XI IPA 1 was as the control class. The data which had been tested its normality and homogeneity was analyzed by using t-test. Based on the result of post-test, it was known that the average score of the students in the experimental class was 81,27, and in the control class was 71,05. Further, the value of tcaltulted (3,66) was higher than ttable (1,67) indicating that the hypothesis was accepted on the significance level 95% (α = 0,05). Therefore, it was concluded that the use of Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model could improve the students’ Biology learning achievement in class XI of SMAN 2 Bayang.

Abstract

Dermatogliphy formed by many genes. Fingerprint patterns can be used to identify the perpetrators of thecrime and prosecuted, and also can be used to diagnose a genetic disease or genetic disorders. One of theinteresting genetic disease to be observed in relation to dermatogliphy is mentally retarded. This study used apurposive sampling method for the mentally retarded group and random sampling for the normal group. Thepercentage of the fingerprint patterns were analyzed by using chi-square X2. From the data obtained it appearsthat the percentage of fingerprint patterns between normal and mentally retarded group, where the percentageof mentally retarded arch = 9 %. While the normal group arch = 0 %. Statistically testing the chi-square testshowed that the fingerprint pattern and the mentally retarded group normal group there is significant. Thenumber of mentally retarded children tendrils fingertips lower than the normal group by t test there issignificant at p = 0,05. Percentage frequency palm tendril pattern where the percentage of mentally retardedgroup I2 = 2,5 % , while the normal group I2= 0 %. Based on the statistical test t-student test large atd anglementally retarded and normal children showed no significant differences at p = 0,05 .

Abstract

A study on the composition of Collembola in the buffer zone of the oil palm plantations of KiliranJao, Kecamatan Kamang Baru, Kabupaten Sijunjung was conducted from May until August 2014.This study aims to determine the composition of Collembola and physico-chemical factors of soil.Collembolan samples were collected by using pitfall trap at three stations. In this study, threefamilies of Collembola that belong to three genera and 283 individuals were found. Three familiesand 119 individuals of Collembola were found at station I, followed by station II (three families,three genera and 27 individuals), at stasion III with three families, four genera and 137individuals), respectively. Physico-chemical factors which are measured in these three stationswere soil temperature ranges 27.2-28.2oC, followed by air humidity (66 to 73.5%), soil pH (6.8 to6.9), soil moisture content (16 to 25.1%), and soil organic C content (3.2 to 4.2%), respectively.From this study was concluded that Collembola found at three station consist of three families,four genera with highest density was found at station III.

Abstract

The achievement of learning biology cannot achieve the standard of KKM at MTsN Pesisir Selatan it is because less of students’ interest and students’ motivation to learn, the teacher only use lecture method to explain the material, the teacher does not use appropriate method in learning process. The method makes the student feel bored in teaching and learning process. It also makes the students going out from classroom. The students can not pay attention with the teachers’ explanation. Because of that, the rescarcher find an approach to solve the problems above, it is the environment approach. In this approach, the teacherasks the students to pay attention to the objeck that will learn by them. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of the environment approach toward students’ achievement in learning biology at the eighth (VIIIc) in academic year 2012/2013. This researcher is an experiment research with randomzed control group design. The population of this research is the students of VIIIb class as control class, the students’ of VIIIc class experiment class. For data analysis, the researcher uses t-test. the researcher found that in experiment class it has 63,46 on overange it is higher that control class. The contol class 43,75.and t hitung is 4,38 and t table 1,68,therefore, t calculate >t table. It can conluded that the environment approach can improve the learning auto come of biology at eighth studenst at MTsN Pesisir Selatan.

Abstract

Paddy frogs (Rana cancrivora Gravenhorst) is one type of frog is known by the public because in addition the meat can be eaten also are natural enemies of insects. Frogs are commonly found in paddy rice fields, paddy frogs are one of the animals that live in two worlds, namely water and land. Frog population at the present time are being lost. The use of pesticide impact on the environment by reducing the balance of the frog population density fields, the construction of settlements that cause the rice fields become small, so that disruption of habitats from lowland frogs. To determine the population density of paddy frog (Rana cancrivora Gravenhorst) were found in Bungo District of IV Jurai Attach the South Coastal District and find out the factors that influence population physics paddy frogs This study was conducted in August 2014. This study used a survey method (direct observation to the field ) using the line transect, the sampling technique using Systematic sampling method with a 100 m transect and plot number as many as 10 plots besides physics factor measurements performed 4 times sampling. Based on the research that has been done on Rice in Bungo Posting District of South Coastal District IV Jurai obtained Wetland Frogs population density is equal to 0.55 individuals / m2 and physical environmental factors at the time of sampling with a temperature of 25 ° C and humidity of 65% -67%.

Abstract

Low of learning biology outcomes is a matter of students in SMAN 3 Lengayang. It can be seen from the average value of the students daily tests are still under the passing grade criteria (KKM) which is 75 in environmental contamination material at X class in SMAN 3 Lengayang at second semester in academic year 2012/2013. This research is aimed to determine the differences about active learning strategies with Everyone is Teacher Here and True or False type to the learning biology outcomes at X Class students in SMAN 3 Lengayang. This research is an experimental research by using a randomized design post test-only comparison group design. The population is the all of students at X class in SMAN 3 Lengayang. Sampling in this research is purposive sampling with X.D class as first experimental class and X. E class as second experimental class. The instrument used is students learning biology outcomes sheet test. The data is analyzed by using t-test. Based on the analysis of the final test, the results obtained the differences students learning biology outcomes in those classes. The average value of the first experimental class is 70.5 with not too high and second experimental class is 67.2. T-test results obtained t = 1.53 and table = 1.67. So, it can be concluded that there is no significant differences in students learning biology outcomes between active learning strategy with Everyone is Teacher Here and True or False type at X Class in SMAN 3 Lengayang.

Abstract

Insects have important value, as well as insects harmfull or helpfull one of the visitors was a group of insects is Xylocopa confusa often referred to as a carpenter bee. These bees eat pollen and nectar. One of the plants that are frequented by Xylocopa confusa is cucumber. Cucumber ia annual plant that is herbs climbed. Based on this research aimed to determine the number of visits and the number of flowers visited by Xylocopa confusa on planting cucumber at Surau Gadang Nanggalo District Padang City.The research was conducted in February-Maret 2014. Observations and sample calculations perfomed in Surau Gadang Kecamatan Nanggalo. Padang. The method used was a descriptive survey method that is by directly observing the insects that exist in the location of research. Insect observations made at 06.00-18.00 WIB. In this study were analyzed by regression analysis of variance multiple and environmental factors with multiple regression. From the result of the study showed that the amount of Xylocopa confusa most widely visited in the morning at 09.15-09.30 WIB with averaged 12,57 individu and the last visited in the afternoon at 13.15-13.30 WIB with averaged 1,43 individu. Xylocopa confusa exit from planting cucumber most at 09.15-09.30 WIB with averaged 8,86 tail and the last visited the afternoon at 13.15-13.30 WIB with averaged 1,43 individu. The amount of interest the most visited Xylocopa confusa in the morning averaged 10,04 of flowers and the last in the afternoon averaged 6,76 of flowers. The environmental parameters are temperature, humidity, and wind speed not significant affect the number of visits Xylocopa confusa on planting cucumbers but light intensity significant affect the number of visits Xylocopa confusa on planting cucumbers. Based on the results of the regression multiple relationship during the observations obtained that wind speed significant affect of visits Xylocopa confusa on planting cucumber in Surau Gadang Nanggalo district Padang City.
