Abstract

Biology is a science that has important significance for education in schools. Laboratory standard is really needed to support the students learning biology outcomes. The objectives of learning biology will not be fully achieved in the classroom without practical activities. The variation in the biology laboratory conditions at SMAN in West Pasaman district indirectly lead to differences in laboratory standardized, but not yet revealed. This research is aimed to determine the learning biology of laboratory standardization at SMAN in West Pasaman district. This research is a descriptive research which conducted from July - September in first semester in academic year 2014/2015. The sample were all laboratories in the learning biology at SMAN that West Pasaman district consist of 11 schools. The type of data in was primary data collected directly from the respondents. The instrument was a questionnaire. The data is analyzed by using descriptive qualitative. The results of data analysis showed that the average percentage of learning biology laboratory standardization at SMAN in West Pasaman district is 57, 8% with less criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the learning biology laboratory at SMAN in West Pasaman district is not meet to the standards set by the Ministerial Regulation No. 24 in 2007.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) is a monoecious plant (monoceous), male flowers and female flowers are in one tree, which belong to the family Poaceae (Gramineae). Corn crop is one of the important food crops, in addition to wheat and rice. Low productivity and quality of maize due to less intensive farming techniques, fertilization and care. Fertilization with compost is one option the current trends. For research that has been conducted in July through September 2013 held at the District Barung-Barung Belantai Koto XI Tarusan South Coastal District in order to know the effect of leaf compost gambier (Uncaria gambir Roxb.) On the growth and yield of crops of corn (Zea mays L.) This research is an experiment, with a completely randomized design (RAL) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment is administration of leaf compost gambier / polybag. Treatment B (200 grams), C (400 grams), D (600 grams), E (800 grams) and A (0 grams) as a control. Observations were observed is the number of leaves, plant height, stem diameter, ear length, cob diameter. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and LSD test continued at α level of 5%. Research results when analyzed with analysis of variance showed that the use of leaf compost gambier (Uncaria gambir Roxb.) Did not affect the number of leaves, cob length, cob diameter but different from the stem height and stem diameter. In cultivating corn plants using compost leaves is recommended because it is more ekonomois gambier and environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Based on researcher sight for doing Practice Field (PL) and the result of interview by one of the biology teacher in SMA Pertiwi 2 Padang is gotten information that in learning process for material which is teacher used like book, and student is too few who has book. The material which is used for the picture is not clear enough and the color is not bright, so that it’s need the developing student work sheet (LKS) with magazine view. This research purpose to produce LKS with magazine view for human reproduction system for SMA and also know validity and practicality. This research is development research which is used 4-D Model with 4 levels, define (define), design (design), develop (develop), and disseminate (disseminate). The define level is consist of front analysis, student analysis, task analysis, and concept analysis. In design level is done the material like LKS by magazine view in human reproduction system material. The develop level is done by validity test by validation who is consist of 2 lectures STKIP PGRI West Sumatra and 1 teacher from SMA Pertiwi 2 Padang. Practicality test by 1 teacher and 29 students of class XII IPA. In disseminate level is not done. It’s until develop level. In this data research is premier data which is gotten from questionnaire validity and practicality, then it’s analyzed by statistic descriptive. The result of LKS validity by magazine from validation show that this LKS in valid criteria is 85,55% and the practicality result of LKS by the teacher with the mark 94,44% as average categorized as practice and student with average 89,01% categorized as very practice. It can be concluded that LKS with the magazine view in human reproduction system which is produced has completed valid criteria and very practice.

Abstract

The learning process requires a learning media in term of teaching materials. One type of teaching materials thatcan be used by teachers is through illustrated handout which accompanied by concept mapping. Handouts arewritten teaching materials taken from several literature that relevant to the basic competencies and subjectmatter taught to the students. But the teaching materials used by teachers in MTsN Talaok Shaded is lessattractive because the picture just shown in black and white, not accompanied with concept mapping, thedrawing only represent a few of the all material and also too concise. This is causes less motivationon studentsto learn and it is difficult to them to distinguish the basic concepts of the material which contained on theecosystem matter. Based on that situation, the developing an instructional materials in the form of illustratedhandout accompanied by concept mapping on the ecosystem matter has choosen. This study aims to determinethe validity and practicalities illustrated handout with a concept mapping. This study uses a model of thedevelopment of type 4-D. Model development consists of 4 stages; Define, Design, Development andDisseminate. This study is only conducted to Development stage. The data used are primary data which is dataobtained directly from lecturers, teachers and students, which consists of 4 people validator, 2 teachers and 20students MTsN Talaok Bayang. Research results obtained is the average value of test validity by faculty andteachers is 86.02% with a valid criteria. This handout feasibility measured from various aspects, such asfeasibility of content, language, presentation and graphic. The average value of the practicalities testing byteacher is 88.19% with a very practical criteria. This handout practicality measured from several aspects: ease ofuse, effectiveness and presentation of learning time. While the average value of the practicalities testing bystudents is 93.63% with a very practical criteria and the practicality of handouts was measured from variousaspects: ease of use, effectiveness and presentation of learning time. Based on this data, we can conclude thatthe handouts has been valid and very practical.

Abstract

The low result in biology learning of XI science student in SMAN 8 is caused by some factors, such as the learning process still use conventional method, the students are less active and less motivation in learning, they also tend to be impatient in discussion and depend on to the smarter member in the group. This situation affects to their mark which they get low mark from the minimum passing criteria(KKM). One thing that can be done to encourage students activeness and motivation during learning process is by using active learning strategy type every one is teacher here a long with using power point media. This is a kind of experimental research by using Randomized Control-Group Posttest Only Design. The population of this research is all students of class XI of SMAN 8 Padang in academic year 2013/2014 which consist of five classess. While the sample of this research is the student of class XI science 4 and XI science 5. This research use final tes instrument formed multiple choice test. Based on the results of the test the average mark of the students for experimental class is 78.05 and for control class is 70.27. The analysis results of the test-t that has been done, t count > t table is 3.08 > 1.67. It is means that the hypothesis in this research is accepted so it can be concluded that the result of students learening process in biology class by applying an active learning strategies type of everyone is teacher here a long with Powerpoint media is better than applying conventional learning.

Abstract

study about composition of ants in cacao plantation (Theobroma cacao L.) and forest edge was conducted from August until Septembert 2014 in Muntei Village, South Siberut, Mentawai Island. The ant was collected by using hand collecting method. A total of 17 species of ant that belonging to 14 genera, 8 tribe, and 5 subfamilies of ants was collected. Formicinae was found as the subfamily with the highest number of species (6 species) followed by Ponerinae (5 species) and Dolichoderinae (4 species), meanwhile Myrmicinae and Ectatomminae were found one species respectively. The highest of relative density was showed by Dolichoderus thoracicus (63,32%) at cacao plantation and the lowest relative density was found in Polyrachis abdominalis (0,07%) at forest edge.

Abstract

Plant in Indonesia is very diverse and most can be used as medicinal plants. The plant iswidespread in Indonesia ranging from urban to rural areas, one of which is in the village Silaping.People in this village still use plants as medicine, by reason of drugs from plants traditionallyprocessed cheaper and some communities also have the expertise to cultivate it themselves. Thisstudy aims to determine the types of medicinal herbs in the village Silaping Batahan PasamanDistrict of West Domains. The study was conducted in January-March 2014. The method used isdescriptive method with observation and interview techniques. The results showed that 103 speciesof medicinal plants consisting of 52 species and most numerous species in the Asteraceae andZingiberaceae familia.

Abstract

The realization of optimal learning science can be done by conducting laboratory experiments. Laboratory as a learning infrastructure in schools, serves as a place for practicum. Practical activities can provide a real experience for students. Therefore, the laboratory plays an important role as a source of learning for students to achive the expected learning science competencies. This research is aimed to determine the standardization of science laboratory in Junior High School of West Pasaman district. This research is a descriptive which is conducted in Juli – September 2014, with a sample of 11 schools in the science laboratory in Junior High School of West Pasaman district. The type of data in this research is primary data collected directly from respondents throught a questionnaire. The research instrument is a questionnaire that given to the laboratory manager/teacher who is teaching sciences. The data is analyzed by using descriptive statistics and qualitative percentage. From the analysis of the result, it shows that the percentage of the average in the science laboratory standardization in Junior Hight School of West Pasaman is 64,05 % which is the sufficient criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that science laboratory standardization in Junior High School of West Pasaman is sufficient to meet the standars set by the Minister Regulation No. 24 Tahun 2007.

Abstract

Based on writer observation result to SMPN 23 Padang can be gotten information that one of material which is used in learning process like LKS. LKS which is used is not interested especially in additive substance and addictive substance. The view of LKS is so simple, picture illustration which is available in LKS is lack of communicative and without variation color just only black and white cause students are not interested and lack of spirit in doing LKS. Related on it, we need to develop LKS by magazine view. This research purpose to produce LKS by magazine view in additive substance and addictive substance for SMP and know validity and practicality. This research is developed research which is used 4-D model, they are define (define), design (design), develop(develop), disseminate. the define level is consist of front analysis, student analysis, and task analysis. In design level, it’s done material design like LKS with magazine view in additive substance and addictive substance material, then develop level is done validity test by validation which is consist of 2 lectures form STKIP PGRI West Sumatera and 2 teachers from SMPN 23 Padang. Practicality test by 2 teachers and 25 students in class IX SMPN 23 Padang. The disseminate level , it’s not done because it’s only until develop. The data research is premier data and validity is analyzed and it’s practicality which is gotten from questionnaire validity and practicality. The result of LKS validity by magazine view from validation show that LKS by magazine view like this is in valid criteria. It’s 87,91% is shown from suitable material, language and view. The result of LKS practicality by magazine view by the teacher and student show that LKS by magazine view in very practicality criteria 96,38% and 88,04% is shown from the easiness in use, advantage and time efficiency. It can be concluded that LKS by magazine view in additive substance and addictive substance which is produced has completed valid criteria and very practice.

Abstract

Pelecypoda is a natural source of sea which has important economic value and has high diversity. Because of that, the rate of explotation nowadays keep increasing, so that from ecology site can threat Pelecypoda population. The observation result show that mangrove forest condition which is located in Katurai village,South West Siberut, Mentawai Islands district get degradation because the activity which use mangrove forest as the dam so influence to physic-chemistry and biology of mangrove forest and also make a threat of life from various flora and fauna in mangrove forest. The research about various type of cockle shells (Pelecypoda) in mangrove forest has been done in village waterworks and mangrove waterworks in Katurai village,South West Siberut,Mentawai Island district.The sample collection has been done in March to April 2013 by survey method and sample technique with purposive random sampling. In that area, we stated 2 location that village waterworks and mangrove waterworks. In village area is stated three station of sample taking and in mangrove waterworks is stated three stations sample taking. The result can be gotten that the type which is found in that are are G. pecinarum, C. lazarus, Crassostrea sp,. O. angasi, S. glomerata,P. striatum, P. rhomboides, P. puerpora, P. chemnitzi. The highest population of cockle shells are found in mangrove waterworks (12,72 ind/m2) and the lowest are in village waterworks(1,33ind/m2). In village compactness, the highest population is G. pectinarum (0,66 ind/m2) and (KR 50%) in mangrove waterworks is S. glomerata (4,33 ind/m2) and (KR 34,04%). The attendance of shells (%) which is the highest is in location II in mangrove waterworks that is O. angasi with P. bengalensis and in location I of village waterworks is G. pectinarum. The environment which can be measured is still in category that support the pelecpoda.
